If you like quick reads, this series is the one for you! All books are only about 100 pages each. You can probably finish about 3 or 4 per day. I sometimes like reading short books in between 200-300 page books and these don’t disappoint.

About this series: The main character in this Country Girl in the Big City is Bonnie Boone (great alliteration. I wonder what her middle name is? Betsy? Belle?) She recently moved to the city into her best friend, Katie Lou’s apartment. Bonnie and Katie Lou grew up in the country together until Katie Lou won the lottery and moved into the city a couple years prior.

Bonnie moved to the city to finish out college (in person) after having already completed 2 years of online classes. Bonnie will attend classes for 2 more years when she plans to move back to the country to help out her family on the farm. She’s going to get her agricultural degree which will help go toward expanding her family’s farm. Bonnie also works part-time in a vet as an animal groomer and dog walker of several clients, including hers and Katie Lou’s mini dwarf goat. Yes, the ladies have a pet goat in their apartment!

Bonnie is also extremely curious, annoyingly so, at times. However, her curiosity and keen eye help solve mysteries and murder cases. Since she is becoming fast friends with Officer James, a very attractive cop she is hoping will ask her on a date, she oftentimes works side by side with him in helping come up with clues to investigations.

In this read, as the title states, Bonnie and Katie Lou’s goat goes missing during a vlogger party. Bonnie calls the police after she suspects someone took off with the kid. Officer James can’t officially do anything about the missing goat, because the goat is not human; however, James does offer to help look for the goat once he’s off work.

Bonnie’s date for the party, Dr. Eddie also assists in the search along with Katie Lou and James. A bit of turbulence ensues when both gentlemen are vying for Bonnie’s attention. Fists fly at one point and rather than decide which man she needs to let down easy, she ultimately decides she doesn’t want to date either.

2 weeks pass with no sign of the goat and people at the party had already been “interrogated” with no one found to have the goat, so Bonnie and Katie Lou pretty much give up their search…until…

The next book is the 7th of a 12 book series called “Victim at the Vineyard”.

Somehow silly little Sylvester the goat became an overnight internet sensation because of some goofy pictures the pet spa decided to take and put out on their social media. Who knew it'd lead to his disappearance? Since the police department couldn't use resources on a lost goat, James promised to help as he could. Then for some reason, the two guys were at odds over Bonnie, so Eddie wasn't to be outdone either. May the best man er goat win? A fun mystery without a murder this time, but it was still fun to see where the clues led everyone. Always a pleasure to borrow this series on KU!

Captivating and tension- filled

This is the best book in the series so far. It's packed with tension and suspense, not to mention a potential love triangle in the mix. I don't want to give anything away. Suffice it to say the storyline is unique for the usual cozy and thought tense had humor behind it too. A great read for cozy mystery buffs.

Uma narrativa de detetives sem mortes, com muita cena hilária, muito constrangimento para a protagonista, e o "sequestro" de um animal de estimação. Muita confusão em um livro pequeno, mas divertido.
