Senri's mother has disappeared. The tribe assumes she's dead. They're all better off if she is. Mirr was not a good Queen.
But now the tribe has to try to survive. Mirr's Bonded males will die without her. Senri's sister Tirra returns to the tribe to help, and she, Senri, and their little sister Barqa decide to attempt the impossible: Bonding their mother's mates. It's the only way they might live.
Senri thinks she's signing her future away when she takes on Zerren, Gidri, and Rawl, three males who act as one. They work together, sharing a companionship that Senri has never known. It unsettles her.
Until they let her in, and she learns maybe Bonding these males isn't a sacrifice, but a gift.
This is a 29,000 word novella that features an alien/alien F/M/M/M menage. This novella follows on from Krol's Goddess, Book 5 in the main Gandry/Ruth & Gron series, and is the sequel to 'Tirra', which should be read first for the best enjoyment.
Along with her sisters, Senri decides to try and save the lives of Mirr's abandoned mates. To accomplish this, she must bond them herself.
Senri is unsure of herself and Zerren, Gidri, and Rawl help her gain confidence. They guide her as she becomes a Queen in her own right and they end up becoming a great family.
I really enjoyed this story, this was Senri’s POV and I’m really enjoying Queen stories even more than I thought I would cause you’re seeing a whole new side of the Gandry and how unique their society is. Love it!
I know this author has expressed her desire to be done with this series, but I'm so glad she's come back to it! I loved Senris character. She was a bit more serious than her other sisters so I'm glad her males were able to soften her up. Thank you for the wonderful epilogue too!
I liked it more than the first one. Senri was the middle one of the three adult sisters of the evil Queen Mirr. She felt like she wasn't fierce or sure enough to be a good Queen. When her older sister Tirra picked three of their mother's dying mates for Senri to Bond with to save their lives, Senri was completely out of her depth. Thankfully her three males Zerren, Gidri and Rawl weren't the eldest, so she wasn't cared for by them when she was a child. They were ten or so years older than her, but she was old enough and hurt enough by the time her mother Bonded with them that she didn't try to befriend the new mates. Senri didn't know anything about her new males or about romance, she didn't even know how exactly the Bonding works. Her three, attached at the hip males were very timid and skittish, but they were determined to live. They showed her what pleasure the males could give their Queens and pretty much blew her mind with it. My mind would be blown too, if my first experience was a three rounds one after the other ;) Zerren, Gidri and Rawl were cute. Their teamwork was hot too ;) I would have liked to have a few more scenes that focused on Zerren or Gidri, because Rawl had more than they did. And I didn't really like when they declared that they will love Senri if she wants them to love her, that was a bit weird.
Senri is not Mirr. She isn't Tirra, either. She's a lost middle child, emotionally stunted, and told to care for broken males she didn't get to choose. But, them all being damaged leaves them on equal footing. Something Senri never saw growing up, and something they thought to have after being scarred by Mirr. Sometimes the best forest growth comes after it's burned to the ground.
Spoilers ahead. The all Gandry POV is much different than the human/Gandry rotating POV. And I'm happy to see that the other sisters are getting their stories. It's an unusual romance. Queens aren't soft but Senri can't be fearce with them. Males are obedient but these guys were ground into shards. Finding a balance was hard for them. I would have loved more of their POV, especially as they learn to play again. Them working as a team to pin her for cuddles to delay the day was adorable. Seeing the queens grow is great, but being able to see them all heal from their viewpoint would be wonderful.
The sudden erection which some poor girl is just going to have to deal with as best she can. It’s something of a recurrent motif in Lancaster’s work. In this book young Senri has to deal with three of them. I believe this is a new record, beating the previous two dealt with by Moira in ‘UnBonded’. To be fair to Moira though, she was only a human and she had to deal with two enormous space dicks, whereas Senri is a giant alien gorrillacat. Also, Moira dealt with them simultaneously – I believe she was spit-roasted – whereas Senri deals with hers in one session but one after the other. I have awarded the book one star for each erection.
I … have no words. I really don’t know how to feel about this book, so I won’t rate it. I thought I was done with this particular branch of this world after the last book, but I figured it wouldn’t be so bad.
I’m still a tad bit irked over “oh yeah no, my new mates used to be mated to my mom”, and btw what happened to her or why she left is still a total mystery. Granted, it sounds like the mom didn’t have a lot of involvement in her kids’ lives but still, yuck. I thought the 3 male characters were ok, but man, there is just something about this series that gives off some cringe vibes for me. Absolutely not reading the next book.
This is from the perspective of some of the same type of aliens in the Ruth and Gron stories. It is preferable to read Tiger's story first, I think. I would like for there to have been more time watching everyone grow into love, but I still liked the story very much.
Second book in the series, very short once again because it is a novella. But i enjoyed Senris story and her three strapping males. I will say i think Rawl had more book time which made me like him more compared to the other two males but overall they were still an incredibly steamy bunch. Lots of group sex.
I enjoyed this addition to the spin off. Though again I didn't want it to end. I wish there was more I would have loved to have seen the guys interacting with kids and have been able to really get to know them.
I absolutely loved this story of the Gandry as told by one of their queens. I think I might like Tirra and Senri's stories even more than Ruth and Gron.
I can’t help it, I love every story of the Gantry. From Ruth and Gron to Senri. I love it. I like submissive males so this book was even better than Tirra’s book.
Remember this is a 4-some of non humans having hard core sex so…be prepared for that.
I was looking forward to Senri’s book as she had three males and it sounded like they were more playful. Again, the timidness of the males wasn’t really my thing but it was a sweet story.
