Smash Trojan, Book 3 By: S.M. West Narrated by: Desireé Ketchum, Connor Crais
S.M. West blows me away with another amazing romance novel, the story grabbed my attention immediately and captivated it the entire book. The characters are well developed, easy to relate to, connect with and care about. I adored Grayson “Gray” Bennett, a former rock star and drummer for Trojan, the now retired rock band. He and former bandmate Silas, continue to work in the music industry building a recording business together, SG Productions, signing artists, recording and producing their albums. A new business has its challenges, one of them being his partner who is used to doing his own thing. Daisy ended her modeling career when she got pregnant, she now works behind the camera instead of in front of it. She is getting recognized for her work and is building up her business and clientele. She is a single mom but her sister and good friend Gray helps with her juggle work and raise her son Henry. Gray was great with Henry, he was great with Daisy too. Both harbored feelings for each other, but the fear of it has been a long time before Daisy was ready to date again and when she does, it puts a fire under Gray to make his move. A lot goes on in this book and the characters lives, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, heartfelt emotions, some angst, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments and a fabulous friends to lovers romance. S.M. West, thank you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I loved every minute of it.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Desireé Ketchum, Connor Crais are the perfect cast to bring these characters to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the character to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. These talented voice artists are entertaining storytellers and their narration enhances and already story to another level of awesomeness. Thank you for another fabulous listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your work.
Another great book for this series! I love these guys! 😍🤩🎶🤩😍
4.5 stars - The band, Trojan, has retired so Silas and Gray, former lead singer and drummer respectively, have created their own label and are showing signs of settling into a quieter life. Well, as quiet as things can be with recording divas and Hurricane Daisy in your midst. 😂 Since Daisy burst onto the scene in book one, she's been a force to reckon with and one that Gray has undeniably been pulled toward.
After years of denying themselves, they finally get the nerve to share that they are each in love with the other. Things move at a breakneck speed from that point but, honestly, it's a natural progression given the years of pretending to be just friends. They have amazing chemistry 🔥 and are well matched, which I 💖. I love how motherhood has humbled Daisy and her selfish ways.
There is a BIG can of worms that comes spewing forth. It is the kind that knocks you for the worst kind of loop. It is sad and can be overwhelming. It does require some trigger warnings although the details are not on the page. I do want to warn you that it will pull you in. I didn't want to put it down until I knew for certain what happened and who was involved (even then, I couldn't stop).
You don't need to read/listen to the prior books in the series to enjoy this but it would enhance the experience as there are a lot of character crossovers and references to past events. I can't wait to see what comes next in this series!
I enjoyed the narration by Desireé Ketchum and Connor Crais. I look forward to hearing both in future books.
I love the deep connection between Daisy and Gray as they are friends and wanted more from each other but they are unsure about tipping their balance by becoming more as lovers. As their love progresses, unforeseen circumstances turn up, revealing to Daisy some truths that tests her relationship with Gray. Such a great story that will leave you hooked between these two lovers and the suspense was just as good.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In the third book in the Trojan series, we get Gray and Daisy’s story. It can be a stand-alone, but I recommend the series. Gray and Daisy have been friends since they met. However, a date with the wrong man has her looking at their relationship a little differently.
Gray has been there for her and her son since his birth. His feelings have changed over time, but not wanting to push her, he kept them to himself. Seeing them move from friends to lovers heats this story. The storyline involves some suspense and drama, with a curve I did not expect. Will their love survive?
Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
(audiobook) I felt like I read two books in one. Not unpleasant, but definitely unexpected.
The first half is about the romance between Gray and Daze. Close friends, they both harbor feelings for each other. They live in an unusual cocoon, the ex-model single mother, her little boy, and the ex-rockstar who takes care of them; a bubble they fear will explode if they take their relationship to the next level. So the first part of the book is an introduction to their little chosen family, an exploration of their feelings, and the beginning of more. This first part was cute, but also quite hot. There’s undeniable desire between Daisy and Gray.
A couple of subplots are also developped in this first half–Gray facing new challenges in his career, Daisy’s rising fame as a photographer, the harassment she suffers from a colleague. We also see their friends and families–or lack of. They aren’t isolated in the least.
And then, the bomb. The news that no one saw coming. And the second part of the story begins, darker and more tragic. Without giving anything away, let’s just say that unexpected news changes everything, including the story’s tone. Though not exactly a detective story, there sure is some investigation going on in this part, but also dramatic personal changes in the main characters. The pace quickens until a grand finale followed by a happy resolution. But you’ll go through quicksands before you reach the beach.
Though the female narrator was new to me, I quite enjoyed her work. She made a good Daisy, slaloming between determination and vulnerability. The male narrator did great with Gray’s quietness and his adoration for Daisy. Not perfect, but an audiobook of good qualities.
Quickie
- Series: Trojan #3 (can be read as a standalone) - Hashtags: #rockstar romance #friends to lovers #single mother #suspense - Triggers: mention of past rape, violence and death - Main couple: Daisy Dobson & Grayson Bennett - Hotness: 4/5 - Romance: 5/5 - + all the domesticity, so adorable - – I get it, they find many good qualities in each other, but I’d have loved to see them, instead of being told about them only
This is so much more than a friends to lover story. I love Gray. He becomes best friends with Daisy and steps in as a father figure for her little boy right from the start. He has feelings for Daisy, but is patient and waits till she is ready for a relationship. Daisy is raising her son and working. She is attracted to Gray but doesn’t think the feelings is mutual. Until she decides she is ready to start dating again. Then she she’s a side of Gray that has her questioning his feelings toward her. There was twist that took me by surprise. I love the writing and the story.
Book 3 in the series but could be read as a standalone. Please note the trigger warnings. Gray and Daisy’s story is incredible. Friends to lovers with a single mum element as well. It is so sweet to watch their relationship change and grow (and super hot!). When life throws a total curveball though can they both survive it. Absolutely recommend this book and the entire series. Cannot wait for book 4. I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Book three in the Trojan series brings Gray and Daisy's story. It's a friends to lovers story with strong characters and an interesting story line. It's well written with perfectly painted scenes, moves fluidly and is a great read. Loved and recommend this book/series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
loved it !!! love Daisy and Gray... this is their story... a fast paced love story with suspense and mystery thrown in... when they first meet Gray already knows but Daisy isn't ready for love...she's been burned and is pregnant and alone... they become best friends...truly the best of friends...can they be more ? why rock the boat when the boat is great ? then the bombshell hits...
Another great friends to lovers story from SM West with a bit of suspense thrown in. Loved Grey & Daisy. And sweet little henry too. The combination of Desiree Ketchum & Connor Crais was smoking hot! Loved both of their performances!
Smash is book three in the series revolving around the members of a defunct band, Trojan. S.M. West is a favorite of mine and I was eager to read Daisy and Gray’s story since their characters had flirted around the edges in the other books in the Trojan series. Their story is sweet, sexy, and romantic as well as thrilling and angsty.
“Yes, you’re my best friend and family, but you’ve always felt like more to me. More than platonic, more than…you’re everything to me.”
Gray has had feelings for Daisy and her son since he met her, but he knew that she wasn’t ready for a relationship so they become best friends. He is the sweetest guy and I absolutely loved him. He would do anything for Daisy and Henry and he wears his heart on his sleeve.
“He’s always there for me. The one person I can tell anything.”
When Daisy realizes that she has feelings for Gray, she’s hesitate to upset the balance of their friendship and Gray’s relationship with her son if things don’t work out, but sometimes the risk is worth the possible heartache. Daisy soon finds her life turned upside down from a revelation from her past. Will she be able to overcome her devastation and build a future with Gray?
What started as a sweet best friends to lovers story soon took a surprisingly suspenseful and emotional turn that I wasn’t expecting, but added so much depth to the story. I loved how Gray and Daisy confronted their problems together and supported one another through all their trials and tribulations.
Each book in the Trojan series has been beautiful and emotional and Smash is no exception. I’m eagerly awaiting Eli’s story.
Smash Trojan, Book 3 By: S.M. West Narrated by: Desireé Ketchum, Connor Crais
Once again I am in love with another of SM West’s books. This book is the ultimate love story and captured my heart. Gray and Daisy have been best friends for a long time. Being involved in the life of Daisy and her son, Henry, Gray has become attached and his feelings for her have begun to change. His life has taken a turn since his days with Trojan, and the business is doing well. There have been some stresses as of late, but while concerned, his main focus is Daisy and Henry. Since leaving modeling to have Henry, Daisy has been launching her new business. Gray has been instrumental in helping, and she too is feeling her heart change. The best is both are afraid to tell the other, until they aren’t. But are they meant to be? Jobs, crazy band members, surprises for Daisy and insecurities all play into their lives and we get to go along. West has created a beautiful love story with realistic feelings. She also takes relevant issues and brings them to the forefront, not glossing over the story but making us live with Daisy as her truth comes out. It’s wonderfully portrayed and an amazing book.
I think SM West had her two narrators in her mind when she wrote this story as tit could not be more perfectly cast. Connor Crais has a warmth to his voice that he give Gray, letting us feel his all his emotions. His heart is on his sleeve and we understood it. Desiree Ketchum as Daisy was incredible. She understands her, and gives her personality every aspect that is a single mom trying to get by. She also had such an emotional impact with Daisy as she dealt with her surprise. These two were fantastic and enhanced the listen. It was the perfect weekend book.
Fabulous This author knows how to write a great story. This is an excellent series and each story is tailored to the couples they portray. Love, honour, commitment, sadness, joy, great characters and brilliant storytelling without unrealistic or silly issues. Gray, drummer withTrojan is now partner with Silas producing records for other artists. He is even tempered, mild but not meek, biding his time hoping Daisy will eventually become more than a friendship, loving and caring to her and her son, Henry. Always present. Daisy, no longer in the modelling world, fast becoming a recognised photographer. Independent and yet relying on friends and family, content with her life and loving towards Gray. She finally recognizes her love for him and longs to be in a relationship with him. Costa, ex, arrives on the scene and drops a huge bombshell which sends things off the rails. Jerome, contact from the Paris modelling days, is lurking, unwilling to step away, intruding, persistent and difficult. Lots of angst, straight talking, rejection and eventually jubilation and celebration.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A beautiful story with strong characters. A best friend to lovers story.
I was particularly fond of Gray. As a former drummer of a famous band it has not gone to his head and he is above all not a womanizer but a man with respect for women. Even if they are too flirty with him and touch him all the time, he remains respectful. And then his attitude and feelings for Daisy. They just make you melt for him. And his paternal love for Henry, Daisy's son. And it's nice that his feelings are so strongly exposed in this story. Daisy, as a former model, has been portrayed as an independent woman with a new career as a photographer. When it turns out that the man she had an affair with isn't Henry's father, her world collapses. Knowing she hasnt slept with anyone else, she realizes she's a rape victim under a drug that makes her know nothing. Doubts about herself and who she was, nay, who she is, strain her relationship with Gray.
A good story, well-developed dialogues, tension, unexpected turns, clear chemistry between the main characters 4*
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This amazing storyteller is one I’ve been with since the beginning. She never fails to deliver, and each new book is better than the last. I already loved all the characters involved with Trojan, so I was excited to read Gray's story.
Is there anything better than a hero who knows the gal he wants to be with forever but has the wisdom and patience to tread carefully when the heroine doesn’t think she's ready to walk down that road? Add to that the hero's willingness to do anything and give anything to see his lady safe and happy, and I’m done. Grayson Bennett is just such a hero, and I couldn’t get enough!
This one has it all – a sweet, swoony hero; a strong, endearing heroine; an adorable little boy and a couple of shocking twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. Add in a nice dose of humor, heat, angst and heart, and you absolutely can’t go wrong with Smash. You'll love Gray and Daisy and every second of their journey to forever, so make sure you don’t miss it!
Gray and Daisy have been best friends for some time and we join them as they're about to admit their feelings for each other. Gray has known the truth about his feelings for Daisy for a while now, but Daisy needed more time after dedicating all of her attention on being an amazing single parent to her son, Henry (good name choice by the way). However, just as things start to get heated and interesting, Daisy receives a visit from the past that causes the story to become a little darker and have you on the edge of your seat trying to look for clues to solve the big mystery.
Smash is like a story of two halves as we first see Daisy and Gray taking the next step and becoming more than friends, but they still remain focused on their new careers and also Henry who is the most adorable little boy. This part of the story is heart warming and passionate. I loved how Gray never hesitated to be a father figure to Henry and as a single parent myself, I need to find my very own Gray lol. I found I could relate with Daisy and understood her need to take the time required before she was ready to even consider dating again. I could see myself in Daisy and she's one of my favourite characters so far.
Then someone from Daisy's past arrives and things take an unexpected turn that changes the feel of the story and goes down a path of shadows and mystery. Gray is still there determined to do all he can to protect the two people he loves, but sometimes there's nothing you can do to help and you have to allow things to happen before it can get better. SM West keeps you guessing as she drip feeds possible clues and suspects of who overstepped a very big boundary and changed Daisy's life forever.
Smash is a worthy addition to a series I've spent the past few weeks being consumed by. It will leave you unable to stop thinking about this powerful and emotional 5 star read that was made for audio. And whilst it can be enjoyed as a standalone, this is one series you definitely won't want to miss, so I recommend that you start from the beginning and allow yourself to enjoy meeting each couple as the series progresses.
There may be triggers mentioned in the book such as sexual assault and abuse.
Smash by S.M. West is the third book in the Trojan Series and although it is recommended to be read in order for the best reader experience, it can also be read as a standalone (which is what I did). It is also a best friends to lovers trope and written in dual pov.
Grayson Bennett (27) and Daisy Dobson (30) has been best friends for the past 3 years. Grayson was giving Daisy time to raise her son Henry before he showed his intentions of being a permanent fixture in her life, to officially be part of her family. In the back of their heads, they have always had the fear of losing each other if they decided to take that extra step. But when they finally give in to each other, things couldn’t be any more perfect until Daisy’s ex decides to show up and rocks their world with his news. Will Gray and Daisy be able to overcome all of the unexpected obstacles headed their way?
Oh my god, Grayson is so precious and the way he treats Henry SWOON. From the moment Gray laid his eyes on Daisy, he just knew she’d be the one. They became friends and soon became part of each other’s family. He even became a father figure to Daisy’s son Henry.
There was kind of a lot going on in the book at times but they all kind of connected with one another. Sometimes their chemistry was off the charts and sometimes it was flat. I loved the book, I did, but I don’t know … something was just missing and I can’t figure out what it is.
I’m also not the biggest fan of Silas but that’s also because I didn’t read the rest of the series so I don’t have any background information on him. I also straight up didn’t like Jerome, he was fishy from the start.
I'd rate this book a 3.75/5
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Grayson Bennett has loved Daisy Dobson from afar for sometime now, she is his best friend, the one person who gets him and the woman he wants to give his whole heart to. But she has been burned by love in the past and has her reservations about them getting involved. But he's not giving up hope...
Daisy knows that Gray wants more, he wants to be the man in her life, but he has also become such an important part of her and her son's lives and she can't fathom losing him if it doesn't work out between them. He is everything to them...
This beautifully penned friends to lovers romance brings us into to lives of longtime friends Gray and Daisy, and follows them on their journey to finding that once in lifetime kind of love. They both know it's there lingering between them, but the risk for Daisy is so high. She has her reservations about risking everything they've built between them for a second chance at love. She opened her heart to love before and it didn't work out the way she thought it should and she still carries the scars from it... but this is Gray, the guy who is her everything! It's a dangerous game their playing, and she hopes they are making the right choice. Watching these two waver between friendship and more drummed up some serious anticipation, I understood their hesitation, but I could also see the risk would be profitable for them. It was downright torturous ride at times, but totally worth it in the end!
Their union put a nice little squeeze on my heart, kept me thoroughly engaged throughout, and left me swimming in those forever kind of feels! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
This is book three in The Trojan series and it is Daisy and Gray's story and omg what an emotional story it is. Daisy and Gray have been best friends for a long time and he absolutely loves Daisy's son Henry as if he was his own son and they all spend a lot of time together and as his feelings for Daisy grows into love he doesn't know what to do as he is afraid that if he tells her he will loose her and he is not prepared to loose them both from his life so at the moment he just feels like his life is in limbo waiting for the right time to tell her how he feels. Daisy is a single mum to Henry and his life hasn't been easy but having Gray always in her corner helps make her life better and he is the best man that she as ever known but when she realised that her feelings had turned into love she doesn't know what to do as she can't loose his friendship because it means everything to her and Henry so now everything is so complicated but what can she you do about it and still keep him in there lives. There are twists and turns along the way and that is what makes this book a real page turner and so addictive that I couldn't put this book down. S M West is an amazing author and writer and I can't wait to read more books in the future.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Smash is exactly what the title says, a "Smash." The characters have all been members of a rock band, Trojan. I say have been because the band broke up and the guys are trying to come to terms with everything this entails. I think this spin on the rocker genre is unique and fresh. S.M. West's book is about the band's drummer, Grayson (Gray for short) and Daisy, a model turned photographer who is the mother to Henry. It is both sweet and smoldering.
Best friends both want something more but neither wants to tell the other. In the early conversations, the couple's words are dripping with love but what if the other doesn't feel the same. When this couple finally decide to give a romantic relationship a try, their chemistry is blazing hot.
Their story is one of will they or won't they until we learn of a twist from Daisy's past. I will say the twist wasn't what I anticipated. The story went in a direction that kept me on the edge of my seat.
The additional characters include Henry, Daisy's 2 year old son; Pansy, Daisy sister who is married to the lead singer of Trojan, Silas. He is also Gray's partner in a recording studio. Pansy and Silas were in book 1. In fact all the former band mates make an appearance in the story. Reading the books in release order is unnecessary but builds the characters history. If you are looking for a s€xy, happily ever after romance, with some action and suspense, Smash is the read for you.
Smash is the third book in S.M West’s Trojan series and is Gray and Daisy’s best friends to lovers story and what a gripping story it is! Gray and Daisy first met when Daisy moved to LA when she was pregnant with her son Henry and have been best friends ever since. Both Gray and Daisy have had feelings of more than friendship towards each other but it takes Daisy going out on a date for them to realise that they should be more than friends. Going from friends to more shouldn’t be easy but it is for Gray and Daisy and Henry couldn’t be happier that Gray is around more. They make the perfect family. "These feelings between us are undeniable, more than just physical, and I wonder at how we were able to supress them for so long." But what happens when the truth about the past is revealed, can Gray and Daisy’s new relationship last? Read Smash to find out! I loved Smash, it is the first book that I have read by S.M West and even though Smash is the third book in this series it didn’t stop me from enjoying it. It made me want to go and read the previous books too! I received an arc of Smash and I am voluntarily leaving my review.
This book is so sweet and then all of a sudden it takes on this dark side and had me on the edge of my seat. I just love Gray and Daisy. Daisy is a single mom who retired from modeling and wanting to find a career that will let her have more time with her son. Gray is the strong silent type that loves with his whole heart! Even thought Gray is best friends with Daisy, he wants to be more than friends. He wants to be a family with Daisy and her son (Henry) ... who he already treats like his own. Gray has no idea that Daisy feels the exact same way! But when Henry's bio dad calls, Daisy and Gray's world will turn upside down.
Although this is a standalone, if you start the series from the beginning you get more background on Gray and Daisy ... plus they are also great stories! This is an excellent addition to the series and I can't wait for Eli's book next!
I rececived an early copy courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.
Gray and Daisy friends to lovers with a mystery added in. I love how the friendship felt real, the evolution to more made sense. He is a great man and his love for her son made my heart beat even faster.
Daisy is beautiful but she isn't all about it. She's a fantastic mom who gave up on love to be there for her son.
Gray besides the rockstar attraction is another who felt down to earth which made there love shine even brighter.
Not all about the romance there is underlining things going on that try to distance them. So good and one that I read super fast because I wanted to feel their romance and find out who is this troublemaker. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
OH My so not what I was expecting! Gray and Daisy! Wow! I loved their relationship! I loved how he made it a point to take a chance and show her how he really feels! I love how Henry just took to him from the moment he entered the picture and what he means to him! This was a story that flowed and had suspense and drama and real heartfelt emotions flowing from these characters! I loved it! All of it from the other players in the band to the models coming through and the family that it all creates and is a cohesive working entity. Loved the writing and the story and I am so excites to see what you have in store! Miss West definitely checks all the boxes! I am so glad that the Trojans are getting their HEAs!
I like how this romance book has a bit more. It's not just about two persons that fall for each other it has a bit of mystery too. Daisy is a single mother that works as an photographer after her carrier as a model ended when she got pregnant with her son Henry three years ago. Three years ago she also meet the man that would become her closest friend and the man that would do anything for her and her son. Their friendship grows into something more but is Daisy ready for admit that she has feelings and what if there are things that isn't as easy as she thought they would be. A secret that comes up and throws her a curve ball.
This is the first book I've read by S.M West but it won't be the last. And I will go back and read the start of this book series. Yes it can be read as an standalone but I am pretty sure that you will get to know the characters even better if you start at the beginning.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Daisy and Gray have been dancing around their attraction for each other for 3 years. Just as they decide to be honest with each other and take their friendship to another level, they are blindsided with news that threatens their budding romance.
This book has light suspense, lots of drama and a little boy that's central to the story. Many times, romance authors tend to treat children as background noise, as a mere trope filler, but I liked that the author didn't separate Daisy's motherhood and her child's existence from the story, or use his presence to fill plot holes.
You'll be rooting for Gray & Daisy even as Daisy's world seems to crumble around her. With interesting secondary characters, Smash piques my curiosity about the rest of the series. I recommend the read.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
The third story in the Trojan series reunites us with Daisy, Pansy's sister, and drummer Gray who hit it off as friends from the start. Now Daisy has had her child and she and Gray are still close. Each wants more, both are afraid to risk what they have. Add in complications when the supposed baby-daddy arrives in the States, and a former colleague from Daisy's modelling days who is pressuring her for help in kick-starting his career in America and won't leave her alone and you have a high tension situation in which romance is forced to the background. Brilliant and compelling; I can't wait for the fourth in this stand-alone/series.
Grey is my newest boyfriend to join my harem. He is absolutely delicious. His love for Daisy and Henry is obvious from the get go. This book is so much more then best friends to lovers. Daisy and Grey feel like they've always been a couple. He is so supportive and caring that it almost hurts. Daisy has some pain in her past. An encounter with her ex and her past becomes a glaring issue that needs solved. It was a little heartbreaking to discover what happened although deep down I wasn't all that surprised. I really liked the depth the characters had and how Daisy's pain wasn't just swept away but truly shown as an ongoing struggle. Overall a fantastic read!
Smash By S.M. West Main Characters: Daisy and Gray I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 5 out of 5 stars This is book 3 in the Trojan series. This was a very sweet romance from best friends to lovers with a HEA ending. The story has wonderful characters. Gray is a drummer with the band Trojan and he cares for Daisy and her son Henry like they were his. Daisy was a model and is now behind the camera a photographer. Daisy finally realizes her feeling for Gray are more than just friends and when her ex shows up she is handed a bombshell. The author warns of triggers. Loved this story.
Daisy was a model and ended up pregnant, she is best friends with Grayson. Grayson is a retired member of a rock band and is ready to tell her how he really feels about her and her son. A first date that Daisy has with another guy forces the truth out and they begin dating before another bombshell rocks their world. Who is the father of her son? Grayson supports Daisy through this but can they come out the other side stronger. Really enjoyed this novel and didn't read the others in the series so it can be read independently. Great author.
