BUCKLE-UP FOR THIS FAST-PACED WESTERN SERIES FROM THE ROUGH-'N-READY A.W. HART.
A routine morning turns deadly as Concho Ten-Wolves, a Texas Ranger working the Rio Grande border between Mexico and the U.S., responds to a bank robbery where shots have been fired. The robbery proves to be the least of Concho’s troubles as it opens up a mystery that pits kin against kin and lust against love. Through the heart of it all stalks an elusive figure whose crimes are just coming to light.
Everyone is pushing Ten-Wolves to stay out of it, to let sleeping dogs lie. But Concho has already taken sides and he’s about to push back.
"A.W. Hart is one of the most entertaining Western writers in the business!" – James Reasoner, Author of Rattler’s Law.
Non-stop action, solid plot, bit of mystery. Recommend.
Okay, that was my review from this past January and I promised a fuller one, which I never got around to! So here's a general update, some of it copied and pasted from my review of Book 1, The Ranger.
Concho is a rough and tumble Texas Ranger created by Charles Gramlich (writing under the Wolfpack Publishing house name of A. W. Hart). His stories are "bust 'em up, take 'em down" modern western action/crime fiction that start out strong and they just don't quit.
"Hot, Blue & Righteous" deals with a bank heist gone wrong and the frightened but toughened female victims-slash-perpetrators involved. The plotting is solid, the action unstoppable, and there's a thread of mystery that is picked up in Book 3, "Path of Evil" (which I'm reading now).
If you like Dirty Harry cops with a moral compass who get into a lot of trouble and fight their way out of it, you'll like this Kickapoo Indian Texas Ranger. Definitely violent, but not a lot of bad language, which I appreciate. There are now ten books in the series and I'll get to them eventually.
As I wrote before: If you enjoy Craig Johnson's Longmire novels, Concho might be your next western lawman to cheer for.
Concho certainly proves his prowess in this compelling rendition of unending excitement!
Certainly five stars worthy, as Concho pulls no punches in his determination to bring justice to those responsible for their continuing endeavors in bringing misery upon the victims of their ongoing misdeeds! The Author's successful descriptiveness of each and every exciting storylines throughout this compelling new day western masterpiece will definitely appease anyone's desired expectations! Too, the character selections could not have been any better portrayed throughout this polarizing series of unending exciting, and in some circumstances, rather chilling episodes of realistic western adventures! Certainly recommend this outstanding series of ongoing adventures to everyone, even you non-western enthusiasts will find yourselves completely mesmerized by Concho, when he unleashes whatever force is necessary to accomplish his current goal of peace and tranquility! Try it! You'll love it!!!😃
Concho picks up where last book ended. He helps solve a bank robbery, kidnapping, blackmail scheme. Plenty of action and mystery. Does the chupacabra really exist?
AW Hart – Concho Series Bk 2 – Hot, Blue & Righteous – Reviewed 9/10/21 – Read 6/5/21
Hot, Blue & Righteous will blow you away with robbers, blackmailers, and criminals galore!
Things are like normal for Concho Ten-Wolves on this morning until the mic in his truck roared to life – Bank Robbery in Progress! Making a fast U-turn he is on his way, when he pulled up, he saw the robbers racing out of the parking lot in a fast-looking fire-engine red convertible, a late model 1960 GTO! The Texas Ranger could see at least two carried guns, and the driver knew what he was doing. Then he heard the news he never liked to hear over the radio, one of the guards had been shot, perps are armed and dangerous! He knew that changed the game, if they shot once, they wouldn’t think twice about hitting someone if they got in their way. Now the passenger in the back seat turned and looked back at Concho, OMG that’s a woman, they are all women! Then the other one turned, raising a pistol, and fired at him! He decided that he needed to get these women off the street before they killed anyone. He hit the back of the car, then jerked the wheel back to the right and hit the left side of the car in a pit maneuver, forcing them off the road.
Jumping out of his truck he raced to the car which had jumped the ditch and slid into an electric pole. The driver’s airbag had pretty much taken out the driver, the passenger sort of fell out of the car but she couldn’t catch her breath, ok she’s not going anywhere. The two in the back though took off like rabbits on the run. One of them was carrying a duffle bag, that would be the money from the bank. Guess she was the one to catch. The other one was heading in the other direction and he couldn’t split himself, so he took off after the one with the money. Finally catching her he started back when the darndest thing happened. A black Cadillac Escalade down the street started up and headed for him, he only had time to drop the bag and drag the woman back with him as he jumps out of the path of the SUV.
This is one crazy case, join Concho as he sorts out the mess, and even gets a call from the other bank robber…
What did I like? Well, you could say I have a new favorite to follow, this crazy Texas Ranger stands up for the rights of everyone and doesn’t take any crap from the others. He works hard and digs deep for his answers. The best part though, he is part Native American with all the love and respect for the land and the people. He knows the earth and treats it with respect. I know he is fictional, but you have to agree that he is one heck of a character to respect.
What will you like? The action on this baby will astound you, the mystery keeps piling high, as Concho starts digging for the answers. His personal life gets even better with the woman he loves. The new characters are just plain awesome, some of the worse scum of the earth, and others that just need someone to care. This is the same author that wrote book one and he sure knows his business, with the emphasis on the details and descriptions, you will fall into the scenery around Concho and his little part of Texas. I particularly loved the mystical side of the Native American beliefs that come into play with “Uncle”. Well done and so interesting. Don’t miss book two of the ‘Concho Series’, available July 7, 2021.
This is an excellent follow up to the first book in the series. You learn more about the Ranger. Also see the deeper parts of his personality. The plot is better and the whole book just works. Enjoy! Going to start book three. I'll keep you posted.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book I love the protagonist and his antagonists. Conches mixed blood of Indian and African American points him in the right direction in most of his decisions. Looking forward to more.
A Bank robbery, he was told to stay out of it, and he can’t. It was more then a robbery as he dug for that one piece, he befriends the girls who took part in it. If it wasn’t the money, then what were this young girls after. Intriguing, fast paced to the end.
Charles Gramlich once again writing under the A.W. Hart name delivered another big hit. Hot, Blue & Righteous which is a bar named after a ZZ Top song this book has a lot to it and I couldn't put it down.
