Our fate was sealed with a blood oath. She’s more than I expected. Beautiful. Fiery. Seductive. And hiding deadly secrets.
Her angels play so nicely with my demons. I crave her touch. Her whimpers. Her obedience. Her light.
Do I deserve her? No. Will that stop me from taking what’s rightfully mine? Also no.
Some men never seek forgiveness, not even with their final breath. My name is Antonio Huntsman, and I am one of those men.
Lust is the second book in A Sinful Empire Trilogy, which begins with Greed and concludes with Envy. It should be read after reading Greed. Lust is a dark romance with dark themes. Forbidden fruit has never been sweeter...
“You’re my greatest temptation, Princesa. My weakness. The woman I spend every day and every night lusting over. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. If I had a shred of decency, I would send you away, far away from me, where my life can’t dim your light and stain your soul, where you’d be safe from my enemies. But I’m a selfish man, and I need you.”
Lust is the second installment in the A Sinful Empire trilogy and it continues where we left off with that shocking cliffhanger.
Disclaimer: this book in particular navigates through the heroine's trauma as a sexual assault survivor. There will be mentions of the scene of her sexual assault (she was a minor), her exploring sex and testing her limits and freedom, and she often speaks on her own experience and healing.
I think author handled the topic thoughtfully and she breaks the stigma of sexual assault survivors not being able to experience or be repulsed by sexual pleasure and kinks. Everyone has limits and every experience is different for survivors.
I thought I couldn't love Daniela more, but I did.
As I mentioned in my first review, I am impressed by Daniela's resilience and strength. Despite her choices being taken away, she still chose to fight and survive. She sacrificed so much and settled for so little just to ensure that her loved ones are safe.
Antonio grew on me more and he definitely got his cut of character growth, that doesn't mean he turned into the perfect swoon worthy millionaire hero—he is still the flawed dark alpha-hole who the author did not want to soften up much to not give him a total personality change and it makes sense when you look at his surroundings and the world he grew up in.
I still get mad at him for the things he says to Daniela, but there were moments were he so caring and soft towards her that makes my heart melt.
The book halted its steady pacing midway and it felt like not much was happening, and of course I was left with another concerning cliffhanger and I'll be jumping to the third/last book right away!
Trigger Warnings: graphic description of a rape scene whose victim is a minor, trauma, violence, torture, death.
Spectacular story and what an amazing ending, even if it was a cliffhanger! Daniela and Antonio pick up where they left off after Greed, still struggling and navigating their marriage. This couple seems almost doomed before they even started. Daniela reveals her hidden secrets to Antonio and he is devastated by what she tells him. Lust was so well written, with fabulous and believable characters, with the perfect amount of steam!
In Lust, Daniela and Antonio are settling into their arranged marriage of convenience. Feelings may be developing, Antonio may be softening toward her. Then her secret comes out, and for awhile, he's reverting back to his distrustful, cold nature with her. What she's saying cannot possibly be true, right? She's lying to him, manipulating him, right? Or perhaps she's telling the truth. If she is, heads will roll!
Antonio is an anti-hero, to be sure. He's not a good man, and he knows it, makes no excuses for it. But with his Daniela, his dark soul might have found its counterpart. Considering everything this amazing woman had gone through, there was every chance she would grow into someone like Antonio, but she was quite different, and it's this difference that makes them so good together, why they're so drawn to each other. Their chemistry is stronger and more heated than ever in Lust, and I was falling even more in love with them as a couple. I was wishing against hope that something good would happen at the end, even knowing there was bound to be a doozy of a cliffhanger, and there was. A horrible one in fact, and now I'm waiting very, very impatiently for their conclusion when Envy releases. I have to know how Eva gets this couple out of the huge mess they find themselves in at the end of Lust.

One blessing star...because regardless or what someone says about other people in a marriage ,sleeping ,sex wise ...... I don't enjoy the excuses one gives for the men in these books to justify their behavior toward other women . The first book had him put her through the lesson of getting possible rapped and trafficked ( doesn't matter that it was a set up ) and little concern to what she felt or wanted but he had time to ,cough ,dally with S . before he had to get back to his presence of teaching the woman he's gonna marry a lesson ....that put me off big time . Then to second book where we continue the stupid relationship and the mixed signals he throws as well as the hot and cold he gives her,and she accepts it even though she only does because men in their circle are like that and she doesn't think he'd give it to her even if she asked...fidelity. As per usual for these writers continue to give excuse of the man can do as he pleases and we are supposed to swoon over the line " ill kill Amy man that you have sex with or touch " .Oh my ,get out the salts I think ima faint or maybe squeal at that manly line .Why it just does something 2 me to be told he'll do as he pleases but he don't ....share. OMG just stop with this bull. This ain't romantic. Him still going out with S to social functions but excusing it in his mind by he can't touch his wife cause he don't want enemy to know ...bla ...bla...bla. And I don't care if he don't slip it to another woman..they are in his presence getting from him what he should be giving his wife ..himself. Someone help me understand how this is romantic? Is it his callous treatment of her ? How he talked to her as if she shouldn't call or demand anything from him? How he says he got plenty woman to " help " him out and he don't need her for that? Or is it how he says everything ,down to his business with S, isn't any of her business ? Romance? Obviously he learned nothing with his dad beating his mom and raping his wife's Mom then having a girl raped ....He might as well lump himself in there with dear old dad and since he hates his farther and wishes HE could kill him even though he is dead ..maybe he should just put the noose around his own neck .There is very little difference except his emotional abuse only damages the insides but can't be seen on the outside . Writers please ..... Anti hero has to have the qualities that make them redeemable ,dominant, controlling, single minded and most important faithfulness to one woman no matter what . In this book he Barely spends time with her ,gets photo of him and S. to be threw in Her face ,tells her she has no business in any of his business and constantly tells her he is cheating on her ever way he can....romance anyone? 😒

Lust is the second book of the Sinful Empire Trilogy. It picks up right from the amazing cliffy of the first book and takes the reader on an exciting and suspenseful ride. Secrets are revealed but there is still danger around each corner.
“Little girls don’t all have the same dreams. Some of us dream about dark princes, on dark horses, who defy danger, bravely slaying dragons and monsters.”
Daniela and Antonio have lots of work ahead to navigate their very unconventional relationship. Antonio is fighting a war on many fronts including fighting what he considers the weakness of his strong and growing feelings for Daniela.
“I’m a selfish man, and I need you.” It’s a humble prayer from a man who doesn’t know humility or prayer.”
Daniela’s top priority is at all times Valentina’s safety, but danger is closer than anyone anticipated. Be prepared for a heart stopping cliffhanger! Love, love, love this story and can’t wait for book three! -5 Stars!-
This picks up where book one finished and once again Eva Charles has excelled at writing an action packed fast moving plot along with the angst and drama that is Antonio & Daniela's relationship and their past histories. Their personalities remain the same however their feelings are beginning to evolve. This once again ends on a cliffhanger!
The second I finished Greed I dived straight into Lust. It looks like I’ll be doing the same with Envy right now. These books are amazing. The characters are so well written and the pacing is perfect. I’ve spent the last 24 hours recommending this series to anyone who will listen.
Another heart pounding suspenseful read! Daniela and Antonio wonderful characters, one dark, one light. This story was full of angst and suspense, and some points just ripped your heart out. Daniela bared her soul this time around. Antonio and Daniela are still very new to marriage and navigating through their newness it was like navigating through a mind field, so many ups and downs and twists and turns and so many secrets that it was making it impossible to believe this couple had a chance at all.
Loved Daniela's fire and passion for the ones she loved. Antonio was a character that was difficult, dangerous, used to obedience and one who is full of many layers. Loved seeing glimpses that he was capable of kindness and that there was something other than darkness below the surface. Daniela for all she suffered was a fighter, a survivor and with one goal in mind keep her loved ones safe by any means possible. It was nice to see people in Daniela's corner this time around, and ones willing to go up against Antonio to give her a different life if it was to be her choice.
This story was full of hot and sexy scenes and no matter how Antonio and Daniela came to be, there was no question their chemistry was off the charts and their sexual escapades hot then he**!
Another page turner for us and we could not put in down, ended yet with another cliffhanger, and we can't wait for the conclusion. Secret lies and traitors run a muck, hopefully next time we will find out if they were truth or fabricated or so much more...
Lust picks up seamlessly where Greed left off and even tho it had been almost two months since I’d thought about the story, it all came back to me in an instant!
Antonio and Daniela are still navigating the waters of their not so typical relationship and as information begins to flow, that navigation becomes rockier and rockier and exciting! I could not stop reading. I love these two so much! Antonio is the perfect hero to hate to love and Daniela is his perfect match! I don’t want to go into a play-by-play but obviously, feelings begun to muddy the waters in this segment and things got a lot more exciting, imo. There’s a lot more spark and passion between them and the storyline is getting even more exciting.
I am super excited to read Envy and see what word wizardry Eva comes up with to pull this all together!
Lust is the second book in A Sinful Empire Trilogy, which begins with Greed and concludes with Envy. It should be read after reading Greed. Lust is a dark romance with dark themes.
Lust by Eva Charles is book Two in the A Sinful Empire Trilogy. This continues the story of Daniela D’Sousa and Antonio Huntsman. So, you really need to read the previous book 'Greed' before starting this one. This book does pick up where we left off in the last one. Daniela has added to their strained marriage when she reveals her past that she has been overcoming. Antonio is so taken back that he doesn't seem to think it true. These two are working through this marriage of convenience but the more they learn the more drawn to each other. I can't wait for the next installment into their story!
Antonio and Daniela's sensual, dramatic and emotionally wrecked story continues in Lust by Eva Charles. This dark mafia arranged marriage romance is full of jaw dropping twists and mindblowing secrets. The chemistry is intoxicating and on fire. Antonio is the perfect alpha antihero and with every fierce step, Daniela is showing how perfect she is for his dark empire.
This book may contain some triggers so please read the blurb and description. The first book in the series ended with a brutal revelation. Daniela has been forced into this marriage with Antonio Huntsman who rules Porto and the wine empire. Their familes have so much bad blood in past but Antonio loathes his father and uncle and he rules in a different way. Daniela doesn't know which version of Antonio is true. The ruthless, merciless and cold king? Or the oddly protective and soft and kind version? But she is slowly falling for him because she now trusts him and cares for him. Same goes for Antonio. But their world is going to be exploding soon.
I am absolutely in awe with Daniela. She is such an amazing and inspiring woman. She went through so much unimaginable horror so early in life. But she didn't let the trauma define her. She is strong. Fiercely protective of her loved ones. Compassionate. Proud. Resilient. A mesmerising mix of soft love and hard determination. And that is what makes Antonio obsessed with her. He is calculated and cruel in business. He is violent and devilish when eliminating his enemies. He wants to ruin Daniela's body and soul and capture all her light. But he has this hidden side that is so fascinating. He has an iron fist but he often takes decision with his heart. And Daniela is reminding him of beautiful sides of his dark heart more and more. He is still the dominating and possessive alpha hero but Daniela is pushing his limits. Together they are a dream couple. But the power plays, the mind games, the blood bath, the betrayal are all chasing them. It is a fast paced and tightly written plot with endless twists. And I definitely did not see THAT coming.
Eva Charles delivers the best of dark arranged marriage mafia romance in Lust. The depravity. The danger. The debauchery. The devastated feels.
*Thank you Eva Charles and Social Butterfly PR for the ARC*
This book was *chef's kiss*. It was even better than the first one!! And it was such an easy read!
I loved Daniela way more in this book. And, of course, Antonio still has my heart. I loved their relationship. I loved how Daniela was bolder in this book, and that Antonio was more understanding.
Even though, we didn’t see the side characters as much as in the other book, I still loved them all. Especially Rafael.
There’s definitely stuff I didn’t like in this book, but I know if I wasn’t from Porto, I wouldn’t even notice this. There were stuff in Portuguese that weren’t right, and other things related to the Feast Of St John. But from all of this, what I hated the most was “mamai”. This word is the imperative verb from the verb “mamar” which means “suck”. But in this book, the author uses as mom, which is completely wrong. Mom in here it’s “mãe” or “mamã”, but “mamã” is usually only used by toddlers. The closest word to “mamai” with the same meaning as the author wants is “mamãe”, but that is in brazilian portuguese. But obviously all of this is irrelevant to other people that aren’t portuguese.
Anyways, I loved the book. That end was perfect. And I cannot wait for the third and last book!!!
PS.: *SPOILER* I am honestly very happy that Isabel is d*ad. I never liked her or how she had a very strong hold on Daniela, and always telling her what to do, etc. And Daniela, being innocent, always did what Isabel wanted and not watch she wanted.
I am speechless, I have no words, I am emotional, my heart is in shambles!
This second book dives so much deeper into the pain and heartache that Daniela went through as a young girl and god was it emotional and gut wrenching. There were moments I had tears streaming down my face at the pain she must have went through as a young girl and seeing and experiencing those horrors.
Daniela reveals her long guarded secrets to Antonio and man was he shocked, you could feel all of his emotions bleed through the pages. Daniela is freaking amazing she is strong and she would do absolutely anything to protect the ones she loves much like Antonio. This man tried so hard to not let feeling get involved in the arrangement but there was no way of that happening. The love story happening between these two was written in the stars long before they knew about it.
The relationship building between these two is fantastic. Daniela is really coming into her own and owning her place by her husband. I am loving her new found confidence and how this is her family and she will do everything she can to protect them. I need book 3 like yesterday!!! I cannot wait.
This is the second book in the A Sinful Empire Trilogy and continues to romantic saga of Daniela and Antonio. Their marriage is still a roller coaster but their chemistry is off the charts. He is devasted when she reveals to him the dark side of her youth. The book is fast moving and emotionally charged. We are still left with a cliffhanger but all will come to a finale in the third and final book, Envy. A great read that is dark and emotional. I read a free copy via Grey's Promotions and voluntarily chose to write a review.
This book is without a doubt five whole stars!! Betrayal spice and everything you would want in a mafia romance. Of course another cliff hanger but this book was so so good!
Did not see that ending, and have to keep tracking book 3. I should be ad?rep now, but listen, this has my attention! Darity get and love deem to be a messy but exhilarating mix. Can't wait to see how it!
I am emotionally drained! This story had me so far in my emotions that I need book 3 to fully recover!
Book 2 Lust leaves us in a state of duress! So many questions answered but so many more reveled! You don’t know who to trust and even as a reader I am in shock! I have no clue what’s coming because Eva has really created a shocker of a storyline!
I do love that we got to see Daniela really come out of her shell and start to take her place beside her husband! Their passion is unrivaled and I can not get enough of them!
Thank you to Eva Charles and Grey's Promotions for a copy of this ARC.
Please, please, please check trigger warnings. There are elements in this book that will be huge triggers for many people. I won't spoil the book, but if you'd like the triggers, send me a message and I can go into detail.
I was lucky enough to read the first book, Greed in this series and jumped at the chance to read the second book because I was very interested in where Antonio and Daniela's story would lead them.
This second picks up immediately where the first book left off with the realization of who Valentina is and everything that goes along with that truth. This is where the triggers come in, while it was incredibly hard to read about what happened to Daniela, it's an integral part of this story, but it will NOT be something people can handle and THAT's OKAY.
Antonio confuses me, there are times when I absolutely love his character and other times when I'm likely to smack him over the head with a frying pan. I have to believe that's a sign of great writing when you can feel such extremes for a character. Let me lay out why I loved him... He's protective of those he loves and cares about without having to be acknowledged for it. The man knows what he's doing in and out of the bedroom, who doesn't want that in a partner? Also, he shows his softer side, without realizing it at times and I find myself loving alphas that have a soft inside. Now, why do I want to smack him? I'm glad you asked... He had moments when he could be downright hateful towards Daniela, even though he was doing it for her protection. I felt he would cheapen her to keep her from getting close and it annoyed me because he hoped it would keep his enemies from seeing her as his weakness. Well, as his wife, she was kind of already his "weakness" 🤷🏽♀️ Too bad for him, he married such a strong woman.
"Her angels play so nicely with my demons."
Daniela is such a strong female, I love her tenacity in the face of obstacles. She's been thrown into a life that she had no say so in, has begun to flourish and is also bringing her scary husband to heel. I think her being with Antonio has just made her an even stronger woman and has taught her what she values and deserves. She brings out the softer side of him and knows when he's pushing her away.
The cliffhanger in this book is even bigger than the last and leaves the reader anxiously awaiting the 3rd and final book. I'm ready to see Antonio and Daniela fight together as a team and see how their family dynamics change. Will Antonio get his revenge? Will the enemy finally be brought to light? How much hotter can the sex get? All incredibly important questions and I am here for it! Great job yet again, Eva Charles, hit me with the finale!
Amount of sex 3/ 5 How explicit is the sex 4 / 5 Story 5 / 5 Overall: 5 / 5
Lust is the second book in A Sinful Empire trilogy written by author Eva Charles. This series has a continuous storyline, and it’s necessary to read them in chronological order. Greed, the first book in the series, ended with a huge cliffhanger, and I couldn’t wait to get the next piece to Antonio and Daniela’s story.
Lust begins where we were left off, and I was immediately sucked into the amazing storyline. Antonio is still the sizzling hot alpha that I fell for, but we see his cold exterior crack a little and his feeling grow stronger for Daniela. Daniela began to stand up to Antonio for her beliefs, which was nice to see.
Oh, and flipping loved seeing some of my favorite characters from Eva’s earlier novels. Their involvement in the storyline would not be confusing for those that haven’t read their stories, but a fun little Easter Egg for those that have read them!
Now, I’m counting the days for Envy, the third and final book in the series, to be released!
Wow! Eva Charles didn’t waste any time! She just thrusted you in to chaos and a whirlwind of events! Exciting and intense! Every page seemed to bring out an enormous amount of anxiety!! Chasing a traitor! Two bombshells that has me stunned and craving more!
First of all, I'M IN LOVE with the cover! I’m weak for a beautiful cover.
Daniela has a lot of mental baggage from her past. On the first book she really made me frustrated with some of her actions, she was so bad at making a decision but after knowing the reason why she was so desperate, I'm in awe of her strength. In this book we found out more about her dark past, it broke my heart completely when I read that part 😭 Daniela is such a strong powerful woman who's been through a lot but I was thrilled to see her working through that, one freak out at a time, then actually putting herself out there, taking a chance to trust again.
Antonio, I despised him a lot on book one.. he had his moments but he did despicable things to Daniela and I just want to slap the shit outta him, but I know he's no saint and this is a dark romance so I tried to stick with him. There's no denying that he had great character development in this book, we finally see Antonio behind his devil mask... he's much more than a ruthless man. He's starting to trust Daniela and open his heart more to her and it's fascinating to see.
The relationship between the two is full of angst and tension! I really like how these two go together, and how they take care of and understand each other (in their own twisted way😂). Damn, there’s some sizzling hotness going on! Their steamy moments are too hot to handle 🥵
This book is the one that just shut up my inner critic, leaving me free to simply enjoy the ride. And what a ride this book was! I can't wait for the next book because the cliffhanger is killing me!!!!!
Greed, book one, I simply devoured and this second book is just as good. Honestly, I am almost sorry I’m reading this trilogy as they are written because I so desperately want the third book, Envy, now!
After the bombshell that was the ending/beginning of book one and two, although I did have suspicions as I am sure we were meant to, I wondered how anything could top it. Well believe when I say, this book blows everything out of the water! I love it when there are twists and turns in a plot and the story is unpredictable.
Daniela really grows in this book, no longer is she the young twenty-four year old from Greed, although she is still the same chronological age. She has a much stronger backbone that she’d started to show in book one and shows a feistiness that even Antonio can’t help but desire. 😄 Antonio is trying to juggle so many things while maintaining a well-meaning yet misplaced distance between himself and Daniela. However, it’s here we get a more in-depth view of him and one I can say is very appealing.
Again there is lots of drama with some action thrown in where you find your heart rate climbing a tad. There are a plethora of emotions in this story that you experience with the characters. Some absolutely brilliant scenes where you feel jubilant and some where you feel devastated.
This author hooks you in and you eagerly get dragged into the story then she literally detonates the whole thing in your face and yet you still find yourself saying “more please!” So bring it on!
What a book! thank God it picks up right where we were left off. The raw emotions in this book... absolutely stunning.
And now Antonio realizes how much of an ass he was. Good morning sunshine!!!!! This book was so intense and Daniela grew so beautifully into a woman who doesn't hide her emotion anymore. And after she tells her story, she's so much stronger. Daniela is a force of nature.
Antonio... well boy, Valentina is your new weakness :))) I love how he's protecting her, and also, how he gently pushes her to face her demons. We can see a little evolution in his character too. He's still a maniac :))) but I think he finally listens. I'm so happy he had Grey open his eyes a little bit. He has a dangerous life, he's a powerful man, and any woman associated with him with have been a target, but Daniela really is the best partner for him. I think he finally sees that and accepts it.
Rafa is a sweetheart. The way he is with Valentina... like a big brother and instantly takes her under his wing. Antonio raised him well.
THAT ENDING!!! This is not good for our hearts!!! :)) With all the spice, plot, torture and action, that is the ending that will end us :))))
Outstanding! We begin where book one left off learning who is Valentina's true mother. Listening (or reading in this case) to Daniela tell the story of what happened to her and her mother is not an easy thing to read (so beware of triggers) yet the author told it with such passion and pain that it felt so real. Antonio is a suprise in many ways and his reaction to the news exposed a whole new side of the man he is inside. From start to finish Lust wraps itself around you like a train wreck that always gives a promise of surviving the wreck. And then as the author leaves us hanging with a HUGE cliff hanger it's hard not to fell shredded. When everything looks like it may improve another blow knocks you off balance. This second book had me reading more and faster just so wrapped up in all the action and suspense. Now the wait for book three is excruciating. It can not happen quick enough. This trilogy is mind blowing and intense and it's for readers who have an open mind and love to be sitting at the edge of their seats. A definite must read!
Once again, Eva Charles has left me with longing and lust with this incredible cliffhanger (thankfully the third book is close at hand). I’m getting deeper and deeper into this incredible journey. Her characters are so well developed as is her storyline. I find myself escaping into their world.
Lust leads us a bit deeper into the very complicated and dangerous lives of Antonio and Daniela. Changes to their personal lives and ever increasing threats have readers spellbound. Daniela has accepted her fate in exchange for Antonio’s promises. There’s bitterness, defeat, and yet something she doesn’t want to accept in regards to her feelings and situation. And she’s given Antonio her trust and story. Two things that she guards closely. Did she make a grave error?
Antonio has always had a sense of duty and loyalty. While his dark side and broody demeanor seem to outshine his decency and human traits, he’s slowly succumbing to them with Daniela as his focus. But when he learns the truth regarding Daniela, his animal instinct rises up.
They’re in this fight together.
So many secrets. So many betrayals. Daniela is learning Antonio is a better man than even he realizes and Antonio is fighting a losing battle with his feelings for Daniela.
Charles again gives a peek into Porto and it’s secrets. We find chivalry in strange places. We discover friends might be enemies. And in true Eva Charles fashion, she left us with an incredible cliffhanger. While she writes a story and weaves her magic as a master storyteller, she leaves my head spinning, my heart breaking, and my voice raspy from the emotional declarations I’ve screamed at my Kindle.
Let Envy arrive quickly please! The Sinful Empire Series is extraordinary!
I loved this book! Daniella, was truly a star of this book. With the revelation in the beginning, it was incredible to see how Daniella was still so strong and brave and not willing to take any flack from Antonio. Antonio, like in the first book, was still coming into his feelings of Daniella. Though, many people would not like this considering it’s the second book of the series, I thought his thoughts and feelings were still written very well, especially considering daniella’s reveal in the beginning. Although this book is not heavy on the romance, like other mafia romance books, it still has its moments. I felt this story was more of a book on development, regarding both the characters independently and together.
“You’re my greatest temptation, Princesa. My weakness. The woman I spend every day and every night lusting over. It wasn’t supposed to be like this,”
I knew a bad betrayal was coming, but not this one. It broke my heart! I also feel that Lara is a traitor too. I've been suspicious of her from the get go. There is so much that Daniela has had to deal with. And the twist with Valentina? My heart was shattered for Daniela. She's so much stronger than anyone could ever know. I still am not a fan of Antonio. He does not treat Daniela like the queen she actually is. Like the partner she was groomed to be. She suffered all this darkness and yet is still standing. She should be by his side as an equal. He treats her terribly. Hiding things from her that is her right to know, especially when it involves a threat to Valentina. Rafael I love. He is so kind and sweet. And I hate what had to be told to him and Lydia. Antonio better start treating Daniela like the queen and partner she is.
The devil and the angel. Dark prince and light princessa. Antonio and Daniela's dark, sexy, perilous journey unfolds with masterful suspense and beautiful writing.
A shocking and heartbreaking revelation propels Daniela and Antonio into danger as they learn to trust and grow emotionally closer to each other.
Eva turns up the bedroom steam and edge-of-your-seat suspense in equal measures. The cliffhanger ending haunted me so much that I needed to go back to read the Sinful Empire series from the beginning for clues of the betrayal within. I’m glad I did because I was able to spot breadcrumbs that are turning my wheels to solve this mystery (my heart will break if all is as it seems!). The wait for Envy, conclusion of the series, in May is almost unbearable!
It was fun to see characters from Eva’s Devil’s Due series make an integral appearance. I’m definitely heading back for reread right now!
Lust is the second book in The Sinful Empire Trilogy and is as addictive and intense as the first. It begins exactly where Greed's cliffhanger left us. The tension is in place, it does not slow down, ease, or let abandon the guards. Throwing the reader directly into Daniela's dramatic confession about her past that reveals deeply hidden secrets and horrors. The heartache and sadness are so palpable, but her strength and purpose that drive her actions are undeniable and only strengthen Antonio's desire and admiration. His protectiveness and willingness to avenge her reveal only his true feelings for his wife. The confession and common purpose of their loved ones only prove how well Antonio and Daniela fit together, strengthen their marriage, and unite against their enemies. Their relationship becomes more passionate and intense, not only fueled by their lust and desire to satisfy their sexual needs, but also by a deeper, sincere, and raw bond between them.
This picks up right where the first book ends, and has a cliffhanger ending that leads into the third book.
This is pretty much in line with the first book in its thriller elements and all the intrigue of the different families, BUT this one was hard for me to read. This book unearths everything the heroine went through in her past, and it's incredibly brutal. I ended up skimming sections.
I was invested in the characters and really cared about what happened to them, so in that sense I appreciated the reading experience, but it's got a harsh plotline situation that might be hard for some people to get through.
