Atlas Hargrove #3

The Betrayal of Prague

Rate this book
USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR AND AMAZON ALL-STAR AWARD WINNER

An unforgivable act of violence...

….in a historic city crawling with the predatory elite.

Have Atlas and the team bitten off more than they can chew?

As Leopold’s private investigators zero in on Atlas’s missing daughter, a network of hunters have dropped their roots in Prague. What starts as a mother’s revenge becomes something more, something out of a nightmare.

In the black market of hellish delights, the wicked always feast. But such loathsome pursuits cannot go on forever, for there are hunters of a different breed taking notice—men and women no longer willing to suffer the mischief of deviants. Atlas and the team are animals of this very sort.

With the new warden making trouble for Atlas, and Monarch Industries refusing to hand Kiera over to Leopold, Cira will step in and risk everything to unite the team. But will it be enough to survive the betrayal of Prague? Will it be enough to save the life of one of their own?

Chock full of suspense, gritty-dirty action, a dash of humor, and characters you love and would want to know in real life, this edge-of-your-seat vigilante justice thriller will grab and hold you from beginning to end, so buckle in for the ride!

This series contains the kind of violence one would expect from a rated-R movie and is perfect for fans of Lee Child, Gregg Hurwitz, LT Ryan, Blake Banner, and Jason Kasper.

WHAT READERS ARE

“I laughed, cried, cursed with joy, and had to decompress when it was over. Ryan’s books are not single-emotion books. He pulls back the curtain on the deeply hidden aspects of the human experience and shares with us its dirty “big” secrets.” – FWO, Amazon Review ★★★★★

“By far the best book in the series, and that is saying a lot as the first two books were exceptional. While the author delivers truly brutal action scenes, he consistently gives the reader the “big picture view” through a well written and meaningful plot.” – AML, Amazon Review ★★★★★

“An emotional storm full of angst, tears, happiness and intense fear. I loved seeing the inner feelings and conflict in Atlas as he battles being a dad with a missing daughter and a convicted murderer on a mission of death.” – Grammyshere, Amazon Review ★★★★★

“This story will trip every one of your emotional buttons, so grab a chair and hang on for a soul-wrenching ride! Bravo!” – Teresa, Amazon Review ★★★★★

“This series is simply non-stop raw emotions. Schow is one of those writers with a true gift or skill set that you are drawn in and do not want to leave.” – sderebery, Amazon Review ★★★★★

Provocative, Intense, Cathartic and Emotional

Ryan has a way of bringing out the best, the worst and the best of the worst in his characters. This book is no different. It is truly one of the best that he has written. This book brought out a lot of emotion in me in that I have seen the results of some of the abuse that both women and children must endure in this world. The aftereffects, most of the time last a lifetime and with a lot of love and care can sometimes be mitigated.

The book was cathartic in that Ryan described what I have sometimes felt, and I could place myself in the book. It also showed the toll that it takes on the avenger. Doing what the authorities can or will not do is not easy nor without its consequences and that is why most of us do not go there.

I laughed, cried, cursed with joy, and had to decompress when it was over. That is why I enjoy reading Ryan’s books. They are not single emotion books. He pulls back the curtain on the deeply hidden aspects of the human experience and shares with us its dirty “big” secrets.

The following is a quote from the book that stuck with me.

“one’s trajectory in life could change course at any moment, but happiness could be defined by how you handled tragedy, not how much you suffered because of it.”

It’s an Ugly world and some has to stand against it!

Most of us live our lives choosing to not see the ugliness that hides in the affluent population. Men and women who are bored with their life, so they seek the most horrible perversions…and children suffer…and parents worry and weep! Atlas Hargrove is determined to make those people pay…because he is one of the parents who worry and weep. With an excellent team of like minded people, he sets out to make a difference, to find retribution and to bring as many of those children home as he can.
And amazing story about a father trying to do the right thing and bring his daughter home!
This story will trip everyone of your emotional buttons so grab a chair and hang on for a soul wrenching ride!
Ryan, you have exceeded expectations! Bravo!

Finally!!!

R.B.Schow seems to thoroughly enjoy, and is a master at writing about the takedown of some truly horrible, sick, disgusting, people. However as much as I enjoy his ability to write the most scary, demented, gory ways to kill, and why and how the killers justify their methods, can he only write about sex trafficking?
I will move on to book four, simply because the writers have developed characters I now care about. People I would truly enjoy meeting. Looking forward to discover how Atlas continues to make the world a better place.
Also to continue to try to fathom why R.B.Show has the Need to write such horrors concerning children.

Revenge for the horrors

In book one the horrors were difficult for me and I wasn’t sure I could or even wanted to read more. I’m writing this in 2026 and perhaps it’s because of the horrors I see in today’s world the revenge Atlas brings to those who inflict the worst on the innocents it’s a kind of justice I can accept and even applaud. The characters are just hauntingly real. The madness is understandable and heart wrenching. I don’t know how the author has been able to research the topics and create Leopold‘s team without going a little Mad himself. I know I’m feeling a bit crazy wishing I could join the team. I’m ready for book 4.

Rated this a four as the series is becoming too formulaic. Hardly any difference between the first three books but one and two were something new and now three becomes repetitive. Atlas is a really intereting character and the "team" has a group of terrific compatriots. But, it's time for the author to move on and have Leopold get Atlas out of Max for good. Don't really want to hear about solitary again and being starved and sleeping on a sock. Get the team together and have them do what they do best. Seek vengence.

This series is awesome!

Just started this series in the last few weeks Ann on book 3. So good! Love action movies and these books have it in spades! Good stories, good writing and I love how when the end comes it doesn’t just end. The story continues with additional store time. I really like that the author puts some truth in what’s going on this world in his book. Things that people don’t realize or maybe don’t want to think about. And not from a liberal standpoint. Highly recommend. These books are so good and would be great movies!!!

What a ride!

The Betrayal of Prague is one exciting and fast paced book. Ryan has definitely been able to bring the black hearts of the human race to the forefront in this series. Atlas and Kiera, along with the others take the game of vigilance to new heights or lows, depending on your outlook of child trafficking. They definitely expose those involved by giving their dirty deeds with a hammer and nails.
Can't wait for the next installment.

Another great story!

Ryan is great at character development and pulling readers into the story. The book was action packed and tugged at my emotions. That’s all I can draft about that without spoilers.

Atlas goes to dark places and does dark things. He does really bad things to really bad people who do really bad things.

If you haven’t started this series yet, get on it. You’ll be happy you did.

If Tarantino wrote the screenplay for The Atlas Hargrove series, he just might be able to capture the fascinating characters and the intense violence.

Schow’s Hargrove Series reveals a hidden world of unimaginable cruelty and unadulterated evil. These are works of fiction but the horrors of child slavery, murder torture and murder are all too real. Hargrove and his team of elite assassins, sadly are not. But, you will wish they were.

Great book.

I have just finished reading this book and it drew me in from the first page. If you want a sweet read this is not the book for you.
If you want a gritty read with well developed characters, this is the book for you. I have enjoyed getting to watch the characters develop over the series and can't wait for the next adventure.
A definite must read if you are not squeamish.

No Betrayal Of Readers At All

If there was a 10-star rating, this book would deserve all those stars indeed. The action is non-stop but it’s thought-provoking action — about universal truths like love & death, good & evil. Especially about how good people must sometimes do bad things to bad people to make the world better. No excuses, apologies, or delays. Keep the Atlas adventures coming & the characters growing.

Too much Leopold, not enough Atlas

Still a really good book, SPOILER ALERT, but Leopold trying to get into the action, not knowing what he was doing, and nearly getting himself killed, detracted from the story of the team.
Again, the violence was a bit hard to take at times, but not nearly enough for child molesters and killers. If only ALL of them in the real world could meet an Atlas!

Another book in the series I couldn't put down

I'm speech less over the fact that this author can run you through so many real emotions during the course of his books. I cried so hard, I had to put it down and take a break. I was on the edge of my seat, with my heart doing the two step. I laughed, and I cheered. Very very well done. I can't even begin to imagine where book four will take me, but here we go!

Gore and Mindless Killng

I have read 3 of this books and this last one finally did it to me. I think the author is excellent and maybe too good as his descriptions of each killing finally went over the top for me. The theme concept and characters are well done but I think I now have to stop reading for a while as the brutality and gruesomeness finally got to me and I am turned off.

Start at the Beginning

Atlas Hargrove & Company. - WOW!! Can't wait for the next one. Start with book 1 and continue, be ready for the entire emotional package . R.B. Schow keeps doing it over and over - rings out every emotion you have in each book. The worst part? The End and then the wait for the next one!

Bad Ass Hargrove

This is the third book I’ve read by R.B. Schow, again, violence over the top but one you can’t put down. My only criticism is he repeats situations and conditions too much. How many times do I have to read about the “single sock” that Atlas has in isolation? But, I’ll probably read another.

Just punishments for the wicked.

Atlas is out of prison again, looking to eliminate the worst human beings alive! Again, this book has a violent edge to it. On a mission to eliminate all the people who abuse children, Atlas seems to have a never ending list, and it keeps getting longer!

Read this series!

Only a few chapters into ‘Betrayal of Prague’ but it has completely hooked me, again. The first chapter of ‘Cira’ is quite badass. I’ve read the first two books and they were brutally awesome. Read this series!

Good read

God only knows that we really need some people who are capable of doing things like this because of the sick people who terrorise children. Can only hope someone can do this. Good work, keep it up.

Couldn't put this book down

I've read all three books and have enjoyed all of them. The excitement keeps me turning the pages. It is gruesome and gory in some areas but it's important to the story.

Atlas

Loved the violent way of taking out the bad guys. They deserved it. I don't understand why you have the prison guards calling Atlas a kidkiller. He killed scumbags that killed little kids. They should be shaking his hand, not calling him names and making him suffer.
