Like the first book in the series, this book reminded me of Lord of The Rings. It is an epic fantasy full of adventure, friendship, and a deep value of life. The pace was leisurely, and it emphasized the journey and the growth of the characters rather than the destination, which was insightful. I especially valued the emphasis on love in a variety of relationships that was based on the value of a person. Each character is unique and brings a unique, helpful ability to the adventure. Redemption as possible with God is also a great theme. I did wish the action lasted longer. The action was so well written, but ended so quickly that I wanted more.

This book, Speakers of Elor, was just as good as the first book, Speakers of Ma’ila. I was a little nervous to read it, because I’ve been disappointed by sequels before, and felt like the first book had been tied off pretty well. But (thankfully) I decided to read it. It did not disappoint. I was taken back into the world of Ma’ta, and this time I got to “travel” not only with Jharroz but also with his son, An’harek.
I think what I love about this series is the way Trenton Anthony puts in such great themes, like family, friendship, trust, and forgiveness, while also not sounding too preachy.
The languages are amazing! I’ve tried creating languages before, and it’s so hard! I would love to spend hours gazing at the glossary… and the pronunciation is hard- to “learn” Utian or one of the other languages, I’d have to completely relearn the alphabet. And I think that’s part of the reason it seems so real.
Anyway, I love the Speaker trilogy and can't wait for the next book to come out! That ending is driving me nuts!!!
Thank you so much!!!

I really enjoyed Speaker of Ma'ila and was excited to dive into this one. The first book was full of struggling to know right from wrong, of finding one's place in life and realizing the love family and friends can have in one's heart.

This one continues with that theme but it's years later, and now it's Jharroz' son, An'harek, who must face the trials, take the journey and find his place.

My favorite part of this world is the language. Once you know how to pronounce the words (thank goodness for the glossary 🤣) you can see just how beautiful it is. It takes a creative mind and a heart for beauty to make a language and world such as this one.

For me, the story is just as beautiful as the language. Oftentimes, when a book is on the slower side, I struggle. Not so with this series. With this one I want the slower pace as it sets the hearts and minds of the characters, which in turn makes for a richer storyline. If this was written any other way the deeper meaning would be lost.

This is one series I can't recommend enough.
