This is a short story by the same author of 何为贤妻 To Be a Virtuous Wife and 八宝妆 Eight Treasures Trousseau. The main character Su Le has just come out of a two-year relationship after finding out her boyfriend had cheated on her. Her University reunion happened to be around the corner and many of her old classmates are only more than happy to see her humiliated for being dumped. Then comes our male lead Wei Chu, an upperclassman in the department. He missed his chance with her before and is determined not to waste this second one. What ensues is a story about a man dead seat on pursuing a woman who's had it with men especially the rich and handsome types like him.

I really enjoyed the main female character of this book. Unlike many other Chinese stories, she did not make a fuss about seeing her cheating ass boyfriend. Instead, she cooly and ruthlessly cuts him out of her heart and begins anew. She's a very realistic version of a strong, modern, independent woman. The male lead, on the other hand, is a bit of a fairy tale prince charming. He's lovely to read about but seems less realistic.

This story is a full-out romance. Their love story was simple and sweet and had a lot of promise but maybe because it was so short, I felt it never progressed beyond the shallow. I still like it though, it has similar good quality as the author's other works in terms of character and world-building, just a tad abbreviated.

I could feel the author's personality and opinions in the main character and I loved it. Spitting absolute facts. If you want a calm and pragmatic Fl, then this book is for you.

Calls me out 37% with this:
"Whether it’s a television drama or fictional novel, the romance genre had always been the most popular. In Su Le’s view, the genre was popular because true love never comes easy and not because they contained the most perfect romance. And because, there are uncertainties that people cannot control in reality, they sink their heads into the world of fictional novels just so as to satisfy their imaginations."

Also, Ml is literally perfect, but I feel like that was the point.
