Guess who just discovered her Phoenix lineage? I'd rather go back to just being cursed. Hot flashes have nothing on bursting into flames...
Imps are taking over Cottlehill Wilds, wreaking havoc at every turn. Chasing them around my store with unreliable magic, while not alerting the mundies, is harder than raising twins.
To make matters worse, the target on my back has never been bigger since I killed the demon our resident psychopath summoned. Car bombs and ambush hoards? Someone really wants me out of the picture.
And wouldn't you know that Fate has decided to mess with whatever is developing between me and Thanos just as I finally decided to open up to him.
Bad news for all the haters: it's going to take more than a car bomb, a trip to the Underworld, and a dip in the River Lethe to get under my lightly wrinkled skin. With a top-of-the-line moisturizer and a fully charged fire extinguisher, I've got this too.
BO40 rocks! These ladies are awesome and a hoot.... a great world to escape after work. Fiona, Violet and Aislinn always make me smile n laugh and hope they get what their looking for!!! Things were really going well for Violet and Thanos until that darn lil imp Cynoc intruded into Cottlehill and made a mess of Violet's store and life. The Dark One is becoming a bit closer and things are escalating quickly. Unfortunate circumstances force Violet to call on Aidoneus for help and Thanos forgets everything....bummer for all those who care about him, except his mother, weird it doesn't affect his memory concerning her? Things move on and Violet does her best to soldier on... Aislinn is getting better and Fiona is handling her magic better! We are given hints to the connection to Phoebe, in the USA, with the witches and even the connection to the Underworld. After all the chaos in this story everyone is recuperating and planning for the next step. Gardoss comes on scene and isn't really a fan of Bo40, he thinks they're trying to take his job...but they let him they are here to stay and they just want to help him seeing as he's all by himself. That makes him think otherwise... help would be nice! Now if they can all get on the same page and work together... awesome things will happen! Loved it and looking forward to the next chapter!

Holy shit. I was so rooting for Violet to get her HEA, and that twist I didn’t see coming. With trying too find the Dark One, no one is safe. Violet, Fiona and Aislinn will do anything to keep everyone they love safe. I need the next book ASAP.
I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
My heart! There is so much action and fighting, I swear. I’m still rooting for Vi and Thanos. Unfortunately Thanos was fatally injured by The Dark One’s evil minion and in order to save him he had to be taken to the Underworld and cleaned in his mother’s river. As if this wasn’t a tough enough challenge and awful for not only the woman who loves him, but the river also erases his memory. What does this mean to his girlfriend and best friend? Well, his girlfriend is now heartbroken. Fate is not being nice to this woman.
BOF is still in search of The Dark One, but did find the Dark’s right hand person…who just happens to be a Council member. Ya! All bad.
And Aislinn is still without her Dragon and he wasn’t even in this book, so my hope is that Aislinn finally communicates to Argies about her blessed occurrence and that he’s happy about it and confesses how he’s thought of no one but Ais and they live “happily ever after”. Yes, same as Fi and Sebastian.
Now for Thanos, I believe his heart will find his way back and recognize his love for Violet.
I think the next book (book 6) is the last one of those 10 book series that is available to read. The last 4 won’t be released until next year. That stinks! I’d like to know what’s up with everyone NOW!
Book 6 is “Like a Fine Magical Wine”. Heading there now!
Add-on: Book 6 is NOT the last book available now. Book 7 was released on December 6th! I’m so excited to be able to read two more of these action packed witchy reads!
Continuing on from where the first book in this story arc, and fourth in series left off, we find the backside of forty coven still dealing with some evil beings in their English village. Trouble making imps and demons, seem hell-bent (pardon the pun) on making life difficult, and there is STILL a dark one at large. Violet is coming to terms with her Phoenix side, and there seems to be the opportunity for a little romance with Thanos too— until the dark one strikes again…
This is an enjoyable midlife series, with older main characters, and a slightly caustic whit. The story is filled with all kinds of magical action, midlife worries, as well as an ongoing story that bridges both this series and the Mystical Midlife in Maine series (you will need to read the first two of that series before this book)- in fact we get a good look at the personality of the male main character from that series in this book! An enchanting trip into the Midlife Witchery world, that fans of the series and the author will enjoy.
After discovering she is half phoenix, Violet's magic is unreliable at best. When an imp comes into her book store and trashes it, she, along with the rest of The Back Side of Forty realize they are going to have to do something about the Dark One, who is wreaking havoc and summoning demons. A car bomb, an attack by a flock of demons and a trip to the Underworld to save her almost boyfriend would make a lesser woman run for the hills, but our heroine just comes out stronger like the phoenix she is. This whole series is fantastic! From the first sentence to the last, it grabbed me and sucked me in. The characters are very relatable, maybe because I am a woman of a certain age myself, but more likely the master storytelling. It picks up just where the last book finishes, and ends on a cliffhanger. I cannot rave enough. One click this now! Don't wait!

Wow. A lot happening in this installment of the Midlife Witchery series. We continue with Violet being the main character in the story. She will face everything from imps to demons to dark witchcraft in this one. Her Phoenix powers will continue to be a problem, but she will get a surprise on that front. Through it all her gal pals Fiona and Aislinn will be there to back her up. She will also have Thanos, at least for a while. Something will happen that will threaten their burgeoning love affair. Hopefully, that will be straightened out in the next book. I don't want to spoil the story for you so I am not going to say more. If you have been reading the series you will enjoy the book. Hint: Violet gets to go to the Underworld.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
This is the fourth book I have reviewed for this author and the 3rd in the Cotswolds saga (the other book was another friend of Fionas back in the USA).
The first two books I read of Cottlewilds focused on Fiona and Bas.
This book concentrated on Fionas friend Violet and her love interest demi-god Thanos. I enjoyed this storyline but was disappointed when it ended.I
There are a lot of unanswered questions which makes me think there will be a second book that answers these and brings all the answers to a conclusion.

Violet is still having problems controlling her magic. When she finally agrees to have a date with Thanos, they are attacked by demons. Thanos is hit in the back with a knife that had been dipped into the River Styx so Violet has to get him to the Underworld quickly. During her entry to the Underworld, Violet finally manages to turn into her Phoenix which causes her to lose her clothes. Violet is so embarrassed. This story is sometimes funny, sometimes painful, full of action, and has romance but it ends in a cliffhanger. Highly recommended.

Violet is struggling with her magic, and her spells are going awry way to often. She is hard pressed to tell the difference her new Phoenix abilities and the annoying hot flashes that are way to frequent as far as she is concerned. She has been fighting her attraction Thannos, but when she finally agreed to dating him, he ends up losing his memories. I love these witches. They are Well written, compelling, and make you laugh. Fantastic book with magic, mayhem, paranormal creatures, mythical entities, and unexpected twists in the plot. I think this is a wonderful book, and series.
I love this series and cannot believe we are on book five already!! Once again there’s tons going on and poor Violet is at the centre of it all. There’s Imps, dark magic, demons, car bombs and a trip to the underworld but does our midlife lady sit down and crumble? NO she totally kicks ass even when twists and surprises are thrown her way! There’s action, adventure, humour and a little romance, a fire extinguisher and top-of-the-line moisturizer and one hell of a story I just could not put down!
She's been hurt too much by her ex. She is so worried about controlling her heart and emotions that she just can't let nature take its course. I believe she and Thanos are soul mates. If she hurt that bad because Thanos didn't care in the underworld that's a huge sign. Only the next book will tell. I can't wait to see if they catch the Dark One or an accomplice. I want Violet to throw caution to the wind and give Thanos another chance. It's not his fault he forgot her. She should cut him some slack!
The next in the series about three women who work together to fight for good in the magical world. SEt in Cottlehill Wilds in UK. Violet is a witch, she and her two best friends, Ainslee and Fiona are battling an evil witch who is summoning demons to do her dirty work. Violet is attacked several times by lesser demons called imps and almost blown up with a car bomb. The sooner they discover the Dark Witch behind this the better off everyone will be. But saving the world from dark witches is not the easiest thing to do. Violet and her friends have their work cut out for them.
Just WOW! So much is going on with these ladies. Violet is the main focus of the story. Don't worry, all of our favs are still around. Thanos is still hanging around. He and Violet will take a trip to the Underworld, can't tell ya why though. As always there is suspense, humor, action and the slight hint of a romance blooming. We were thrown a twist that I did not see coming. The next book could not come soon enough. I love this series!
Violet is still struggling to keep control of her newly acquired Phoenix power and the demons are getting worse they are like a Hydra knock one down and another pops up, and now they are fighting dirty. But who is the big BAD Witch (with a B) and can Violet control her feelings? And a sideswipe that had me bawling my eyes out!!!
Such a great series, I love everything to do with Pymms Pond and Maine, this series and author just gets better with each book, this time there is action galore, but the emotions on the side, that sideswipe I mention WOW I was bawling, it was so well written I wanted to reach out and hug the characters!
I was so invested in this story, I could feel all the feels. Then smack, right back to reality I tumbled. And it sucked so hard, it really did. This was a great book, I was enthralled from the first sentence. Read it, you know you need to. I highly recommend it. Next book quickly, please.
Another beautifully written installment in this series. This story has really come along way since the beginning of the series. Alot of major events happening and some major action. The characters are brilliant and the author really knows how to bring a story to life. I definitely recommend this book.

Absolutely love this series. Violet's magic has been wonky since becoming half Phoenix so she doesn't dare use it...but she hasn't become a full fledged Phoenix. Will she? Violet, Fiona and Aislinn have their hands full with imps and demons! And Violet even takes a trip to the underworld...but it's not a happy one. I'm anxiously waiting for book 6 now!
Another great read that had me hooked and on the edge of my seat, it was fast paced, action packed with lots of steamy romance. I really enjoyed Violet's point of view, watching her starting down a new path with a love interest. I can't wait to see where it goes next, a for the next book to be available on audiobook. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
As much as Violet is a great heroine and deserving of her own highlight book, this dis not do harbor the readers any justice. Author went way, way over board with the maiming , repeat head injuries and fatal injuries over and over and over. Violet only. It was insane and made the book not only redundant but silly.
There was so much action going on in this story and I was hoping that Violet and Thanos would have a HEA, but of course there was a major plot twist! I can’t wait to read more in the next book!

This is a really good book by a very talented writer. The storyline kept me on my toes. I can't wait for the next book by this author. She is a very good and original storyteller! You won't be disappointed at all.
Such a nail biter of a page turner. This was a great read. The plot was very well written and I cannot wait for another book. This was such a great storyline from a great author.

In the previous book, gran was most definitely NOT a ghoul. Now she is? As I said, better editing. You are too good of an author to allow that big of a mistake. Please explain how that changed with, perhaps a novella? Keep writing girl, you have major talent!
One can never guess what's coming next in a Backside of 40 book. Amazing, outstanding, funny, poignant, magical and adventurous are only some of the terms that come in my mind for this book.

Writing reviews on individual books in a series is really difficult. It's hard to come up with something new to say. What I can say is this, I love the books in this series and I'm definitely sticking around for what's to come.
Violet has channeled her inner Phoenix after a brief trip to the under world to save Thanos. Unfortunately the cure wiped his memory. Can’t wait to find out what’s next
When the main character could get her head out of her crotch the story line was ok. I just want more from a plot than how much she lusts for the guy she either should or shouldn't have. I think I'll stop with this series for a while.
