Punished
When I arrived in Vrakal I wasn’t sure what to expect. Humans don’t often go to vampire cities, they are dark, chaotic and lawless places. A small human like me wouldn’t last long on her own. I’m barely there for all of fifteen minutes when a huge and powerful vampire proves me right.
He destroys an entire pack of vampires just to claim me. I try to run. No one claims me.
That’s when I feel the sting of his discipline for the first time. He bends me over his knee; his strong hands somehow reduce me to a shaking and quivering mess.
Then I realize I might actually be enjoying this.
His punishment leaves me howling, sore, defiled, and filled. I’m wondering how much longer this punishment can go on, but the vampire is only just getting started.
He takes me into the dark city. More punishment is in store, and there’s not a chance in hell he’s letting me get away. I’m his now, and he can do whatever he wants with me.

Plot: 3/5 • Smut: 3.5/5 ————> A short little vampire read. She’s basically trained as a vampire assassin. He runs the top vampire city. They meet in an alley in the vampire city she just traveled to. He saves her and she basically becomes at his mercy.
The smut is good. It starts within the second chapter. (Bc the first chapter was 42 damn pages)

Excellent Short Story
I considering anything 200 pgs or less to be a short story.
I had low expectations since I haven’t read any good short stories until recently (like in the last month). I was very surprised by this one. Loved how the author made the female H a strong, intelligent woman who is also feminine and embraces her sexuality and has her own character flaws.
Also, enjoyed the male H was not an overbearing dominant, aggressive male character. He was dominant male who balanced his dominance and power well and also admired his woman’s strengthens and acuity.
Plus, there is a great role reversal. She was the victor and he has to thank her. He had faith she would not leave hanging. How awesome is that?!
The story is written well and is visually appealing to my imagination. The author has a great talent for efficiency of writing -> making the most impact with the just enough use of adjectives/words.
This was an interesting take on the vampire vs human culture and evolution. Like I said very imaginative. I couldn’t put the book down as this was candy to my imagination.
The sex scenes were good because of the chemistry the author built into the writing. I didn’t find it bland or oh hum at all. Was pretty sexy.
I knocked a star rating off because the kink was a bit overboard for me. My sexual menu dictates anal sex always goes last sort of like dessert, should be saved for last. Then end of sex and into the showers. Anal sex then to BJ or vaginal sex is an ABSOLUTE NO. This includes oral anal -> also last or at least keep that mouth away from any other body part until the end of sexual act. IMO
If this book is a good example of this author’s writing the next book will be on my list to read.
There were some editing issues - syntax errors, some places was clearly auto-correct taking over. Nothing too horrible, but will cause a few stutters in your reading pleasure.

Yes please
Is it a dark romance? Yes, most definitely. There will be red bottom and begging. Dark, twisted, fun times for one, bratty, naughty girl. Is it only a kink book? No way, there is a very good storyline to this book and a world that I hope includes more books in which to explore. Does it really have vampires? Oh yes it does, and this vamp is a stud. He's one alpha, dominant character who likes to be called "Daddy". He sees the little fiery human before him as more than a possible slave, but as his equal and future Queen. She is fierce and not afraid to fight. He loves it about her. I think I love it about him too. I just know that it's a nice change to read about a woman who isn't afraid to be strong, but willing to gift a man with her submission at the same time and not be internally wishy-washy about it. It's a beautiful thing to read and not be overly bogged down by the unnecessary emotions. It lets the story shine through.

Unique erotic read that has equal focus on the action fueled story
Whew, somebody fan me, this is one hot read. If you're not into dirty, then this isnt the book for you. I loved it so much. I fell in love with all the characters. Even though there was the hot romance between Isabelle and the vampire Thorn, there was also and intense story that kept me on edge until the very end. This was different than most dirty books as it had a plot and focused on the story equally as well as the relationship. Everything was laid out great. It started out well and drug me right into it. I couldnt put it down. The heroine was a kick ass human. I loved that. There was lots of action throughout.

Great read
I wasn't sure what to expect from the excerpt, but I enjoy reading this authors novels so I gave it a try. Glad I did. The first chapter set the stage, drags a little, but by the end of the second chapter the story quickly develops and becomes a very entertaining story. I liked the world that was created throughout the book and referring to the twenty-first century as history with certain things being ancient was a fun twist, also Novak brings a new twist on an old tale about vampire/human story telling making it a great fast paced story. Recommend

I loved the originality and the creativity. I enjoyed Isabelle's strength and smarts, that she wasn't neurotic or naive. It was a really nice change. And Thorn was hot! You have to love a book where the Hero recognizes his attachment for the heroine immediately and fights for her. There were a couple of things that weren't explained that I didnt understand, like why Thorn can read her thoughts sometimes, why Thorn doesnt trust the robot with technology, stuff like that. Not enough to ruin my enjoyment of the book as a whole though.

I would really like to see this author expand on her vision of this future world she creates. I found it fascinating and very different from anything previously read in this genre. This would make a fascinating series about the new world that humans and vampires exist in. Some hot sex never goes amiss, but the BDSM and the daddy stuff could definitely find its place somewhere else.
It is hard to find really interesting fantasy, but this author captured my interest. Finding a really good editor would not go amiss either.

This book is a fast read at 170 pages, it’s a darker romance between an vampire and a human who was supposed to be a vampire Hunter. The book had an interesting plot and story with vampire hunters being different and not being able to be controlled like regular humans, but for some reason he could control her. The spice happens fast but in a short read it has to, there is spanking, submission, a daddy k!ink, punishments and rewards which she loved every bit of. She teases him and purposefully gets herself punished. This book is an happy ending book where he becomes her queen. One thing that i really loved the the authors creativity on was when they went to the brothel district and each of the main brothels were named after a seven deadly sin, and the brothel house named after that sin had its characteristics. This was quick dark romance smutty read.

I didn’t hate this book. I know it was a short novella so that being said I know things move at a fast pace. I don’t mind that. However I think this book had a lot or world building in it and for world building I don’t think that’s good for a novella. However it was a decent story. I did think it would be a quick and easy read but I did have to step away from it a few times just because it didn’t hold my attention like I had hoped.

That was an excellent book! There was enough action in it to fill two books! I really loved the ending to it too and wish there could be a sequel to it. I love happy endings but would like to read more action from Thorn!
I encourage other supernatural book lovers to read this book. You surely won’t be disappointed.

Good world-building, but little to no "vampire" action
Decent world-building. Longer read than most erotica, but good for plot development. Not a fan of the * ahem* style of Thorn's initial "marking," but that's on me. Very little true vampire behavior to speak of, though, but still a good read.

Wow! Exciting, hot and a damn good read!
I don't normally do reviews but I had to voice my praise for this one. I wasn't sure about this book at first but so glad I read it. The world Zara has created is vivid and interesting. The characters are easy to connect with and love. The spice was spot on a well. This was a great book and I can't wait to read the rest of her work!

Imaginative and unique.
This story is very different than what I've read in the past. The storyline is unique and the relationship between the characters is strong. Excellent read. I highly recommend.

Punishment or Reward
Punished was a good read. The sex was rushed. Isabelle was in the run. Thorn rescued her only to capture her for himself. They grew to become not only lovers , but equals.

This story started off good but then Thorn became a bit like a teacher, telling her well done when she did something right. There were plenty of hot scenes and a bit of action too but sadly this story didn't grip me.
