The novel was unexpectedly good. Looking though the reviews I was not expecting anything special, but it’s not true.
Here we have a harem novel. Every ML here has his own place and role. You can even say that without all of them like that we Woolley not have a novel. Their are the fundaments of the plot in a way.
There is a big amount of smut, with different level of details and settings. You will not get bored at all. High quality meat.
One details I was not very happy with is that sometimes things happen very unexpectedly, without any previous hints. And all characters read like they all were expecting this. It’s good to have unexpected events, but there should be some logical hints before that, or how the characters see something strange or wrong, but here it’s not like this. Here it looks like author just came up with some plot twist at this lace and moment directly.
This gave me a strange feeling all the way, but it’s not that bad. Just bothering a bit, IMHO.
The plot and pacing were good. Some plot twists where so good I’ve read it too fast. I’ve actually finished it in 2 days, because it was a nice and interesting story.
We have a political sub plot, some economic and war stuff.
Also, the MC is not as cruel as you may expect, but he is not a saint. And none of characters are saint here. The MLs are quite cruel also.
In conclusion, the story is enjoyable. I really like it. Recommend.

It took me a while to warmed up with Su Mu, but when I did, gosh, how I love Su Mu and the boys, who fought like a tiger cubs. They are really funny 😭😭. Especially between with Gu Yunzhou and Ye Qingfeng. Gu Yunzhou is my absolute favorite, I swear since the very beginning. Wherever this trio comes up, laughter will comes along. They also have the best smut scenes 😏😉.
The other ML’s will not sit idly by, I also like Yun Feiyu, Huang Xuan and Lu Xie. The best scene for this trio is when they accidentally made Su Mu impotent, I was laughing so hard I almost fall on my chair and I was not able to forget that scene by the following days.

Suprisingly good book. The best parts are in the beginning imho, where the mc is struggling to drag his empire out of the decades of neglect and mistreatment that the emperor and the crown prince left festering.
The harem is also better than expected, with this many (5) MLs it's inevitable that they are a bit shallow, but their characters are clearly distinguishable and some of the best scenes happen when they fight/work together.
Just don't think too hard about it, it is not that deep.

odd yes, entertaining? for the most part. All the guys pissed me off, mc let them get away with too much, I would have had them killed idc

Usually don't like harem but this was fun. Plot is entertaining, but don't read it for the plot- there's quite a bit of handwaving.
Pacing was fun, though it tends to jump from one scene to the next without any separation.
