Milestone Mischief #2

Faking With The Enemy

Rate this book
My best friend’s douchebag brother asked me to pretend to be his fiancée, and I did what any sensible, level-headed woman would do…

Ivy
Nate Walton showed me who he really was years ago, and I’ve hated him ever since. And when he came to me, begging for help, I almost laughed in his face.

His proposition was simple—I’d pretend to be engaged to him to save his business from a conniving hag bent on having him for her own, and he’d finish the work on the classic car my dad had been restoring for my mom before he died.

It was a win-win situation…until things got complicated, and cracks started to form in the walls I’d put up around my heart.

Nate
Ivy Anderson had always been an enigma. When we first met, I was sure she’d been attracted to me…almost as much as I’d been to her. But something changed. She hated my guts, and I had no idea why.

When I came up with the idea of creating a fake fiancée to save my auto repair shop, Ivy was the first person I’d thought of. Our dislike of each other would ensure a simple, drama-free transaction. We’d both get what we wanted out of the deal, then go our separate ways.

No stress. No mess. No chance of hurt feelings or broken hearts.
But after an unexpected kiss that was meant to be all for show, I couldn’t get the taste of Ivy’s lips out of my head. And it was obvious she’d been affected, too. So, we struck another deal. We’d give into our desires…once. Satisfy our curiosity and our needs, then go back to the way things were.

What was the worst that could happen?

Piper James lives in Idaho with her husband, two teenage sons, two cats, and a dog.

Her favorite things are romance novels, coffee, potato chips, and her Jeep Wrangler…and her family, of course. Seriously. She loves her family more than coffee and her jeep. *exaggerated wink*

When she’s not writing, she watches ghost shows and spends most of her time trying to convince her family their house is haunted. Because it is.

She wrote YA paranormal romance for 6 years under the name Wendi Wilson before giving into her desire to write spicy romcoms, and it was the best career decision she’s ever made…until she decides to write a book about the ghosts. Because they are definitely real.

ROM-COM my ass.

DNF. Boring. Boring. More boring.

Magic dick blackmailed by one night stand… chick wants magic dick on demand *eyeroll*. His solution… a fake fiancé with his brother’s best friend, a chick he liked until she gave him the cold shoulder after finding him in the bathroom with some other chick years ago. <<< That is all the meat in 20%. The rest is fru-fried fluff mundane BS, and I’d rather suffer a Barney episode than digest five more seconds of this.

Honesty , truthfulness and confrontation would be key with these characters. Ivy and Nate have a whole boatload of misInterpretations on both of their parts but mostly Ivy’s. Charity is a spoiled psycho snatch that needs her ass kicked .

Who doesn’t love a good spicy rom-com!?! Throw in enemies to lovers and a fake romance added for giggles and that’s what you have here. It’s a fun read with a good amount of spice.

Whew! I’m exhausted

It seems like forever since I first started to slog through this back and forth nonsense.
An extremely odd concept from the get-go...I’ll blackmail you into loving me....well then, I’ll form a pretend romance with my worst enemy so you can’t blackmail me...
On and on....and on it went. For-ev-er. Finally, at the 85% point, when I should have been so engrossed I couldn’t put it down,I did put it down. Exhausted, and uninterested, completely over the whole thing.
For me, this gets one star, only because no stars is not an option.

This book was delicious, pure torture. There was steamy intimate moments and chemistry off the charts. It was very well written and I couldn’t put it down. The agony between Ivy and Nate and the battles with themselves on whether or not to take that leap with each other kept me hooked. The amount of effort they put into distancing themselves from each other, too afraid of rejection broke my heart. Why would you deny feelings for each other when everything is there, clear as day? Now I get it, they are supposed to be oblivious to the signs but sooner or later I would think you would give in, which they eventually did and I was here for it and rooting the entire time. The way they were trying to hide their emotions from each other made me want to sit them down and shake them to reality. I have to say, I didn’t see them falling so hard and fast for each other but when you know, you know. It goes to show that denying your heart what it wants tears you up inside and makes it hard to focus and function. When you finally accept what your heart has been telling you all along, you feel lighter and happier. I got this feeling from both of them when they finally decided to become an item and I was so excited that they were finally truly happy. Very enjoyable book and I cannot wait to see what the next three entail.

Faking With The Enemy is the second book in Piper James’ Milestone Mischief series and is just as much fun—if not more so—than the first book. While both books are standalones and can be read without reading the other, it’s so much better if you do since the characters share the same universe and are intertwined.

In book 2, the story focuses on Nate and Ivy, two people who vehemently hate each other. They can’t be in the same room without insulting one another and only stand each other’s company in small doses to appease Nate’s brother and Ivy’s best friend Rafe. So, when Nate comes up with a plan to get himself out of a bad situation, Ivy is his first choice because there’s no chance any romantic feelings could ever exist between them… or could they?

Faking With The Enemy is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy about two people who when forced together just might come to realize that not everything is always as it seems, and that what once was hate, might actually be love.

Overall, I absolutely loved Nate and Ivy’s story—possibly more than I did Rafe and Jessa’s story in book one—and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

I just fell in love with these characters and this town when I read book one. I was so excited to get started on this book, because I just knew that Nate's story was going to get me too.

I'm actually a big fan of enemies to lovers trope, and also a mistaken slight story. This gave me a taste of both, with a twist of not admitting their feelings. It was just all the things in a good romance for me.

One of the things I really loved about this story though, was the friendship that has formed between the females of the story. I feel like Ivy's character needed that friendship growth in addition to the romance story that was unravelling. I felt like Jessa needed it as well. The other thing I really enjoyed, was Nate's personal growth as the story wore on. He admitted things to himself and realized the parts of his personality that needed work. And I loved how Rafe came to help him with that.

This book definitely leaves some openings for other possible stories in this world, and after reading the first two books in this series, I simply can't wait to see what Ms. James comes up with next!

I absolutely enjoyed this book! This book gave me even more feels than Jessa and Rafe's story.

I liked how the author included how women can be just as manipulative and take advantage of men. Nate's situation is one that I found quite unique and I love it even more because it's the reason why Ivy and him settle their differences.

I am an absolute sucker for the enemies-to-lovers trope and the whole fake dating scenario. I like how the author didn't rush to push Ivy and Nate into the lovers stage and gradually showed us why they were constant bickering.

However, some of Ivy and Nate's actions left me boiling with frustration and I was very close to chucking my kindle. But I guess the sweet moment for when they eventually get together makes up for it.

I loved seeing the previous characters and how they all include each other in their groups.

This book ticked all the right boxes for me and so I urge those of you who are looking for a light and fun read to pick up this book.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Piper James did it again with Faking With The Enemy. Wow what a great enemy to lovers book!! I love the relationship between Ivy and Nate. Ivy is the woman every lady can relate to. Always the best friend and take care of others. Now Nate is the opposite he is what every woman wants for the night. He is men whore who gets in trouble and needs Ivy’s help to get out of the mess he is in. But with their past Ivy doesn’t know if her heart could last through the deal Nate is offering.

You will get to read all the back stories from both Ivy and Nate point of view. So as you follow them through their journey to love you will understand what they overcome. That what make their HEA that more special. You will get passion drama sexy scenes and love.

Also in Faking With The Enemy Rafe and Jessa story continues. Piper James will bring back her fantastic characters from Playing With The Doctor. She also does a fantastic job with the plot.

I was give this arc for my honest review.

I absolutely loved this book! I love it even more than the first book in this series, which is saying a lot because I loved that one as well.

I'm a huge fan of the enemies to lovers trope, and this one hit the nail on the head for me. I lover every minute of it.

I was cheering for Nate and Ivy the entire time. Also scolding them a few times as well.

Like always, Piper James makes you feel like you are the character in the book. So much so that you get lost in that world, and you are jostled whenever you are awakened abruptly.

Even nursing a migraine the past few days, I couldn't put this book down. I just had to devour it as fast as I could. I needed to live their story.

I cannot wait for the third book to come out! And I'm excited for more books from this author! ♡♡

Second Steamy Act in the Milestone Series

Nate is Rafe’s younger brother and Ivy his best friend. They should all be friends, right? Unfortunately, Ivy catches Nate in a compromising situation (in the ladies’ restroom) and she tags him as a worthless womanizer, never to grant him a second chance. Years roll by, and Nate needs a favor - does Ivy agree to help? Yep, and the fun and games start, all with that restroom event hanging over their heads, even tho Nate doesn’t know the problem. Enjoy this series of small towns friends who seem to always misunderstood each other yet end up with a HEA.

Another great read from Piper James. The story of Ivy and Nate is adorably sexy. Two people perfect for each other who are too afraid to admit it to themselves. The book is steamy, romantic and just perfection. I found myself laughing, crying and immersing myself in the lives of the characters. I love how we see the story lines of Ivy and Nate connect with Jessa and Rafe from the first book while adding depth to the relationships between other friends and family. I can see the Milestone books being written for a long time and I am here for it.

This book was another great book by Piper James! I read straight through it till the end in less then 24 hours cause I wanted to see what happens. Ivy and Nates relationship never takes off cause Ivy sees something. Assumptions are formed as well as high walls. Read the book and find out what happens! I love how we get to read what the characters think to themselves and how blunt they are in their minds!

I’m usually not really into the whole “enemies to lovers” or “fake fiancé” thing but OMG! I couldn’t put this one down! I know this could be a stand alone book but having read Rafe & Jessa’s story first and already having met and experienced some of Nate & Ivy both together and separately - I just had to read this book. And I’m so glad I did. I loved - really loved their story and all they went through to get their happily ever after. So good! Off to read the next book!

this book is the holy grail of miscommunication tropes. i’ve never read a book with a more unlikeable FMC and stupid MMC. both parties torture themselves by not communicating. i need to know why the main characters agreed to things, only to get pissed at each other for following through with the agreement? i truly cannot believe i finished reading this. 1/5 stars for the MMC’s pov and his interest in the FMC from the jump only

Ivy is very relatable but I won't lie my favorite part of this whole book is Ivy, Jessa,Felicia and Karly relationship, it the kinda relationship girls want and need in their lives, their conversation make me laugh so much and make me feel like im there apart of the group. I was super excited when I got this book, simply because I loved the first one in the series. Faking with the Enemy did not disappoint. I found it had to tear myself away from my Kindle to go to work...it was that good. Piper made me laugh, and later on in the book, I wanted to smack both the hero and heroine. This was amazing, and I can't wait to read what she writes next.

Deliciously riveting

James once again has bewitched me with charming characters and an enjoyable plot. I usually find enemies to friends mundane, but goodness! Not. This. One! James’s characters take on a life of their own and just shine. This is a fun series and cannot wait for more!

No much plot apart from a silly misunderstanding years ago, she saw something that didn't happen. Otherwise the usual, two adults around each other who get attracted to each other then "oh my God I'm in love with you".
3 stars because I can't complain much, the synopsis didn't promise anything different and nothing bad or red flag here.

Another homerun from Piper James! This story was so funny and sweet. I love the relationships between all the characters and how genuine they feel. A tough, sassy heroine and a sexy hero, what's not to love?

2.5 for me

Miscommunication was annoying. All it took was one simple convo. The whole “I want him but he doesn’t want me” n vice versa was lame. Glad it’s over. Idk if I wanna continue the series now? All the overthinking n not communicating was blah.

This book gave me some high hopes for how it started out. However, it did not meet those expectations. It was a lot of back and forth and hot and cold for a romance book when the main characters couldn’t bring themselves to tell each other how they feel.
