A gruff Navy SEAL commander doesn’t expect a gorgeous writer to bring him to his knees…Navy SEAL Commander Slate “Striker” Hutchinson never expects a beautiful blonde to crash his weekend in a remote cabin. He can’t send her off alone in a snowstorm, so he lets her stay the night—and ignores a temptation he hasn’t felt in years. Her feminine curves and innocence aren’t what a man like him needs—not when he’s dedicated his life to the Navy.Novelist Ashleigh Moore is looking forward to a peaceful weekend retreat. The gruff and commanding man who emerges from the woods after a hike isn’t supposed to be at the cabin—or send her heart racing with his piercing green eyes and tall, muscular frame. She can ignore the sparks of electricity between them, but when she’s injured, Slate proves gentler than she imagined. When a domestic terrorist group tracks Slate to Washington, he realizes Ashleigh’s life is in danger as well. He’ll protect her while she’s under his care, but will he be able to let her go when their time together is over?SEAL’s Command, a standalone novel, is book seven in the addictive Alpha SEALs Coronado series.
I really didn’t fancy this book, but it was really good!
3 and a half stars. When Ashleigh goes for a weekend to her friends remote cabin, she expects be on her own. Slate her friends brother in law also goes to the cabin to be on his own. When they realise that they have been set up, Ashleigh tries to get a hotel room somewhere else, but they are snowed in. As sparks fly between them, they realise they are attracted to each other. But they are very different and she’s 12 years younger than him.
Unfortunately Slate is targeted by terrorists who want revenge on him. Slate takes Ashleigh home with him to protect her. Having to spend time with each other they fall in love.
There are a few issues with this book. It didn’t spoil it for me though. When Ashleigh goes to the cabin, Slate has the only key. How was she expecting to get in when she got there? When they first have sex, Slate tells Ashleigh he loves her, she tells him it back. Then the next day she’s thinking she’s falling for him, err???
When I first started to read it, I didn’t particularly like each character. Slate is a cold, hard commander, who judges Ashleigh when he first meets her. He’s a navy seal commander, who wants to hunt and hike at the cabin. Ashleigh is a romance writer who wants to write and lounge around the cabin. Ashleigh is a bit naive and doesn’t really think about things. She travels to a remote cabin in really bad weather in a little car, without chains on it and not a four by four, she’s wearing thin clothes and if the car broke down she would freeze!
I loved how Slate softens around her and how he looks after her after she breaks her ankle. The sex scenes are okay. Not really written about enough. Ashleigh is a bit annoying when she first finds out about the danger. She instantly resents poor Slate and blames him for dragging her into it. It’s not his fault that he’s targeted! I did warm to her though by the end.
For me there wasn’t enough of an answer at the end. Where did the main terrorist go? Will it continue in another book?
I’ve written a lot of negatives in this review yet I still loved it! The romance side of the story was just wow! If you can shut your mind off and just enjoy the ride, it’s brilliant.
SEAL's Command is the 7th book in the amazing Alpha SEALs Coronado series. This one tells the story of Slate Hutchinson, Commander of multiple SEAL teams and Ashleigh Moore, a romance novelist. They both end up at a remote cabin in the mountains owned by Slate's brother and his wife (Ashleigh's best friend) who have set them up thinking they will be what each other needs. Due to snowy weather and an injury Ashleigh sustains, Slate says she can stay the weekend working on her book as planned. However, when members of a homegrown terror cell target Slate and there is evidence that he has been tracked to the cabin and they have seen Ashleigh's rental car he takes her with him back to his home in San Diego where he can better protect her. And when she is kidnapped to get to him, he will stop at nothing to save the woman he has fallen in love with. This is a great story with plenty of action and suspense but also a nice build up to the relationship and love between Slate and Ashleigh. Slate is over a decade older, gruff, deals in facts and logistics, and likes to be in charge. Ashleigh is sweet, deals in imagination for her work, and while independent can be a bit shy. But this is a story of opposites attract and these two really do balance each other out and fit perfectly together. I loved this story and was so happy to see them get their HEA!
Interesting main and secondary characters. I've read several of the stories in this series. There are cross over characters, but it is a standalone story.
As other reviewers have stated, a lot of it is unbelievable. I did want to know did the team and/or our H get in trouble for going rouge? Story is filled with suspenseful moments, violence, humor, twists, HEA, touch of romance and plenty of steam. Heat level 5 out of 5 and described many times.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, Lord's name used in vain and crude words many times. No real Seal missions mostly about the MC' finding each other. Plus, they fight some bad guys because of what happened to a leader. Great set up for the next story. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase. SPOILER BELOW!
SPOILER: I lowered my rating because of decisions made that put the h in harm. The H had a member of his team stay with her when he had duty, but this stopped. They both knew the villains were only a few miles away. She leaves the house two times to go shopping ALONE and it doesn't bode well - REALLY?! (ljb) 10 hours ago (edited)
This is my favourite out of this series with the Commander of the SEAL team Slate aka Striker finally meets the one. He meets Ashleigh, a friend of his sister in law when she and his brother decide to meddle in his life. Little does he know that his quiet weekend away at their cottage will bring a woman into his life that he doesn’t want to leave. When an incident brings danger right to his doorstep, he will do anything to protect Ashleigh and prove to her that he doesn’t want her leave and to stay with him. A great read with steam, suspense, and amazing characters. I loved seeing the gruff, stoic, commanding Striker let down his walls and see his softer side. Ashleigh could hold her own with the Commander, she was sweet and saw more to Striker than a gruff older man. Loved these two together and now we have another team under his command with more stories to come…can’t wait! *I voluntarily read and advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Makenna Jameison’s seventh book in her ‘Alpha SEALs Coronado’ series is certainly commanding the ratings. Every time I read one of Makenna’s books, I think it’s better than the one before. Then when I read her very next book, that one’s even better. So I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no bad books written by Makenna Jameison. And when you think it can’t get any better, guess again. In this story, Slate and Ashleigh, the main characters, have been setup at a private mountain cabin getaway by Slate’s brother Jett and Ashleigh’s best friend Anna. When they both get to the cabin and realize they’ve been played, Mother Nature, being the good old girl that she is, also has a hand in playing them with a major snow storm which snowed them in together. This is an exciting, adventurous, romantic suspense book that is so riveting I couldn’t put it down until the very last page. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST read!
This great series continues with the SEAL teams Commander, Slate Hutchinson. A busy man, he is comfortable with his life and is not looking for someone to share it. He decides to spend some time off in the remote cabin in the mountains owned by his brother and his wife, but they have also suggested to Ashleigh, a romantic novelist and friend of the brothers wife, that it would be an ideal place for her to do some writing in peace. They meet, and realise they’ve been set up and although Ashleigh says she will go elsewhere the weather has other ideas. Unbeknown to Slate though, a group of terrorists are after him, and put he and Ashleigh in mortal danger, resulting in Slate taking her home with him so he can ensure her safety. As their feelings for each other grow the terrorists are active, and Slate and his team have to go all out to ensure Ashleigh survives. I can thoroughly recommend this well written book, and I’m so glad that Slate has found his ‘someone’.
The final book in the Alpha SEALs Coronado series is a welcomed addition to a great collection of stories. Ashleigh Moore and Commander Slate “Striker” Hutchinson are characters that readers cannot help but admire. They are real in their feelings, actions, and words. The commander has taken a well-deserved vacation from his intense military job and is relaxing at his brother’s mountain cabin. Ashleigh is getting in some quiet writing time at the same cabin thanks to her best friend and wife of Slate’s brother. Unknown by both, the brother and friend have set up Ashleigh and Slate; it’s love at first sight for Slate. Later on, Ashleigh falls for the tough, protective commander as well. Danger ensues when home-grown terrorists come after Slate and subsequently Ashleigh. She is kidnapped, terrorized, and rescued by the commander and part of his teams. The plot is filled with friendship, danger, love and an HEA. The whole series is an entertaining must read.
Navy SEAL Commander Slate “Striker” Hutchinson has seen several of his men fall in love but knows that it is not for him. He takes a long overdue vacation to his brother’s cabin in the mountains but discovers he is not alone there. Romance writer Ashleigh Moore is looking forward to a retreat where she can write and relax but…. they quickly discover they have been set up by his brother and her friend. A snow and ice storm strands them until Slate gets the word that a home grown terrorist has targeted him. He and Ashleigh head back to San Diego where he tries to find the men who are after him. Unfortunately Ashleigh is kidnapped to Mexico where the team must rescue her. A good suspenseful romance in the series Alpha SEALs Coronado. This is book 7. Though fiction, this series gives you a peek at what life could be in the SEALS. Recommended.
We so seldom get to read a SEAL romance involving their leaders. It's really too bad because these men are as equally battled tested, deadly, cunning and protective as those they lead. Case in point, SEAL's Command. I loved the two characters that Makenna Jameison created. Their love story is fabulous, filled with suspense, some great action, slow burn sizzle and a happily ever after.
Slate Hutchinson and Ashleigh Moore are the unwitting victims of meddling relative's matchmaking efforts. Both of them thinking they'll be spending a quiet weekend alone in a mountain cabin. Surprise! Neither of them are looking for love or a relationship. They're dedicated to their careers. When danger comes calling Ashleigh is caught up in a revenge plot against Slate. He moves heaven and earth trying to keep her safe because she almost immediately became so very important to him.
It's the alpha SEAL's protecting us against the enemies in the world around us. An intentional set-up by her best friend, Ashleigh ends up at the same remote cabin as Slate, a Commander in the Navy. It was totally surprising for both of them to be there on the same weekend, snow blowing and cold winds. They decided to spend the night as the storm is harsh and dangerous. They cooked together, talked, realized they got along well, and all seemed good until it wasn't. Yes, government enemies found him, and danger was all around the mountain cabin. The story unfolds as they head out together for safety. The storyline has intensity, friendships and sexual scenes that are well written.
Makenna Jameson has written another great book. This book is #7 in her Coronado SEALS series but can be read as a stand alone. Having read the entire series, I have to say I enjoyed this one the best. Just have to love a protective older, settled SEAL Commander falling for his other half. From an accidental meet in the forest to a kidnapping across International boarders…this book will keep you reading. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed this book. Slate and Ashleigh, total opposites, but brought together by interfering relatives. One weekend was all it took then a threat evolved and they were on the run. An interesting dynamic between the commander and his soldiers, it was lovely to see the interaction. "Exploding ovaries", an apt description for Slate. This book made me smile.
Ashleigh is a well known romance writer. Slate is a Navy Seal Commander out of San Diego.
They meet at Slate’s brother and sister-in-law’s mountain cabin. A huge snow and ice storm strands them together , and attracted to each other.
Slate receives word that a group of terrorists are after him and one of his men. Ashleigh gets kidnapped and taken to Mexico and is rescued by Slate And his Seals.
This is a great book it is action packed, twists, turns and has Wonderful characters.
Another great additing to the series. Slate and Ashleigh were set up by his brother and her friend who happens to be married to Jett, Slate's brother. While at the cabin Slate found out he's being targeted by terrorists. Of course his alpha protectiveness comes out where she's concerned. He takes her back to his house where he can protect her. As they get to know each other, trouble is brewing. Can't wait to read Ace's book. HEA.
I’m giving this story 4 stars, because mostly I agree that it deserves it. I personally don’t like repetition constantly in a story, and this author does a lot of that. He’s a former seal, he commands seal teams, the job is dangerous. She is a romance author, 12 years younger than him. I just couldn’t get attached to either of them, I think because of the way the author wrote them.
A surprise meeting brings Ashleigh and Slate to share a cabin in the mountains for 1 night until things beyond their control has Slate doing all he can to protect the woman he has fallen for from people from his past. Curl up in your favorite reading spot and enjoy this steamy, heart racing military romance and enjoy...I sure did!!❤🔥❤🔥❤
A rip snorting enjoyable read with steamy romance and a touch of suspenseful action. Slate and Ashleigh burn up the pages with their slow sought love when neither wanted intimacy. Along came a home grown terrorist and things changed. Recommend the book to you all.
Good premise but far from realistic. A Navy Seal Commander and a writer end up snowed in together after both being set up to meet in a remote cabin. Bad people are after the Commander and the writer gets swept up in the danger. I won’t list all the many, many ways this book was not believable.
Makenna Jameson knows how to write a love story with swoon worthy heroes and the women they love. Once I begin reading one of her books, I can’t put it down. She’s an amazing writer!
I loved this story. Well written with great characters. Full of action, and suspense. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. Would definitely recommend reading this book. I was given an advanced reader copy and I voluntarily leave this review.
Make na Jamison truly can create great stories. I have enjoyed this series very much and find I can't wait go read what comes next. I would recommend this book to anyone.
Slade and Ashleighs story was an enjoyable read. Having all the teams and their family involved made good reading. Have enjoyed many books from this author. None have ever disappointed. Can read out of order.
This is definitely an easy pick up and enjoyable read. No having to think too deeply about the stories. If you want a few hours of just pleasant reading, can't go too far wrong with this series of books.
I love that there was finally a plot line where it was communicated that neither of the main leads wanted children. So many times it’s mentioned but then they “accidentally” get pregnant and then they have their HEA. It was nice to see the couple living just for them.
Slate and Ashleigh are cute together. This series keeps getting better. Loved how he just rolled over but also took command when he needed to. Babies now please. 💕💕💕💕 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
