Author Catherine Cowles brings you an addictive small-town romance series full of protective heroes and suspenseful twists and turns. Wrecked Beginnings contains the first three standalone novels in the Wrecked series.
RECKLESS MEMORIES
I loved him before I knew what the word meant. From skinned knees to first dates and everything in between. But he was never mine to love. I settled for friendship, even though I always wanted more.
That was before. Before he ripped my world apart and didn’t bother sticking around to help me pick up the pieces. I knit every last shred back together all on my own. And I’ve all but forgotten his name.
Now, he’s back, and everything is torn apart once more. But he’s not the only one doing the tearing this time. And there might be no stopping the person who has it out for us both.
PERFECT WRECKAGE
My past taught me to play it safe. To stay far away from handsome men who promised it all. My life was good without them. Stable, secure, predictable.
But one kiss showed me that I’d been playing it safe for far too long. One night and all I wanted was more of his wildfire. One challenge and my carefully constructed walls tumbled down.
Amidst the rubble, I realized there was more to this man than I ever dreamed. When everything fell apart, he showed me what it meant to stay. How to truly live.
But some demons don’t stay buried. The past can come knocking when you least expect. And the life he’s showing me might be shorter than either of us expected…
WRECKED PALACE
One night was all it took for everything to change. From college student to guardian in a single breath. My siblings became my world.
No time for date nights or romantic dreams. I traded quiet weekends for sleepless nights. Giving my all to make sure they were cared for.
But Griffin had a brokenness that called to me—one that mirrored my own. Gruff and just a little bit reckless. He was the last thing I needed. But everything I wanted.
Only someone isn’t happy about this new life I’m building. Deciding to set fire to everything I hold close. And when the smoke clears, there might be only ashes left behind…
Writer of words. Drinker of Diet Cokes. Lover of all things cute and furry, especially her dog. Catherine has had her nose in a book since the time she could read and finally decided to write down some of her own stories. When she's not writing she can be found exploring her home state of Oregon, listening to true crime podcasts, or searching for her next book boyfriend.
Wrecked Beginnings is a box set of the first three books in the Wrecked Series: Reckless Memories Perfect Wreckage Wrecked Palace This whole series is packed full of angst, suspense, humor and swoon. It is heart and heat with storylines that kept me interested and invested. The audiobook narration with each of these stories is wonderful and the three books for one credit makes it a great value. -5 Stars!-
Box set for first three books in the series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Review for Book One: Reckless Memories:
Ford and Bell. A story of love, heartbreak, grief, angst and even suspense. Tragedy strikes when Bell’s sister dies in a car accident that her boyfriend Ford was driving. When Bell needed her best friend the most, Ford decides to take off for over a decade after the accident. Completely blaming himself, His self-loathing and blame is absolutely heartbreaking to read about. Bell not only has to deal with parents who don’t love her the way that she deserves but also trying to mold her into a replica of her sister. Bell learns to rely on her friends and Fords brother and parents as her real family. 🏝 “I wish I could protect you from all the hurts in this world, but the only way to do that is not to live, and I don’t want that for you.”
Ford comes back to Anchor island to help with the family business but that puts Bell in an absolute whirlwind. Bell also has a stalker in her hands.
Bell and Ford? They always had chemistry between each other. More powerful than they ever realized. “I’d get hit with a memory of the two of us, the reckless kind, the kind that lit a fire in me to call her, to see her. Those reckless memories would almost bring me to my knees.”
This stalker though? Doesn’t appreciate Bell getting cozy with her dead sisters old lover. When everything is finally exposed, your mind will be blown!
Even with the suspenseful side of this book, there definitely is a very romantic and second chance at love here and it really is a beautiful story!
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ Book Two: Perfect Wreckage ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
“Life is messy and terrifying, but it is also crazy beautiful. You taught me that. You showed me that my wreckage could be perfect in its own way, that all those little cracks in my soul just made me stronger, more beautiful. Truly and authentically me. You taught me what it means to truly live.”
What a beautiful slow burn romance (and a little suspense) this story was! This was my first book from this author but it definitely won’t be my last! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC and I’m so glad I did!
This is a story of two people with broken hearts slowly mending each other’s worlds. And it was a hard journey for Kenna. Her life was never easy but possibly the strongest woman I’ve read about in a long time. She never faltered. She made a life for herself. Crosby. Let me swoon for this man. His snarky personality and love for adventure and nature made me love him quick.
This book has No cliffhanger and ends on a really beautiful HEA. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ Book Three: Wrecked Palace ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Griffin and Caelyn’s story!
Catherine Cowles damn sure knows how to pull readers heartstrings. 💞 Caelyn hasn’t exactly had the easiest life but she has made her life the best that she could. She has sacrificed everything to raise her siblings on her own. At age 21, she got full custody of her younger brother and two younger sisters. With juggling two jobs, and taking care of her siblings full-time, she struggles to take a breather for herself because she is completely invested on making sure that her siblings have the best life that they can with paying for their schooling and extracurricular activities. She wants to give these kids the life that they didn’t have with their parents. 💞 Caelyn sees her friends in beautiful loving relationships and having babies and she so desperately wants this for herself, but her plate is just so full with her own little family. Not regretting a single thing, she has pride in everything that she’s done for her siblings so far not wanting to take handouts. Griffin. Oh this man. After a horrible and tragic event taking place in his earlier life, it has made him isolate himself completely on this island. But because of this, locals are not exactly a big fan of this quiet and gruff man. This is the story of Griffin and Caelyn, two lonely individuals becoming friends and slowly falling in love with each other overtime 💞 But of course this is a Catherine Cowles novel, so you know that there is going to be suspense and mystery as part of the story. And that’s what I cannot tell you in my review but this story has it all! 💞 “You showed me how much I was missing by locking myself away from the world. You showed me that I could trust you with anything. But you’ve been showing me that from the first day I met you. In your kindness. Your care. How damn selfless you are. Everything I see in you challenges me to do better. Be better. To not run away from life because I was hurt in the past. I want this with you. I don’t know for sure where it will lead. But I want to find out.”
Welcome to the first three books in Catherine Cowles’s Wrecked series, all in one place!
Reckless Memories: My sleep deprivation was well worth it with this book. Bell and Ford grabbed me from the very first pages of their story and they didn’t let me go until the very end. They’ve both got a lot of guilt and misery and anger that has built and festered for over a decade, so when they meet again, it’s only a matter of time before they either destroy each other or move forward together. The only problem is that someone doesn’t want them to forget or heal. Someone wants something so much worse for both of them. But who?
I spent most of the book guessing, wondering, picking up and tossing aside suspects, and breaking over the pain of survivor’s guilt that surrounds Bell and Ford that I’m surprised I made it out in one piece. This story was amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. And when the bitter party is revealed? My jaw dropped at the history and secrets that trotted into the light. But the good part about dragging secrets out of the dark is that freedom is just around the corner. And thanks to these secrets coming out, Bell and Ford can finally live a life full of so much more than guilt and regret. And they can do that together.
Perfect Wreckage: This series just continues to deliver. The angst, the emotion, the very real feeling I get when joining the characters on their journeys it happy...and Crosby and Kenna made me feel all of it SO strongly. They’re both used to people abandoning them or leaving in an untimely fashion, so when Kenna’s only mother figure passes on, it’s up to Crosby to help her fight for what Harriet truly wanted. It’s a good thing both Kenna and Crosby are strong and have a strong circle of friends, too, because this fight gets dirty. And during that fight, Crosby has to face old, seemingly unrelated demons that threaten everything he never thought he wanted now while Kenna fights yet again to be left alone by a family that has already wronged her in some of the worst ways possible.
Wrecked Palace: This author excels at writing thoroughly engaging stories, and Griffin’s and Caelyn’s is SO much that. They’ve both got painful pasts, they both had to forge their way before they were truly ready, and they’ve both been trying to live a life regardless. Caelyn is doing better at that last part than Griffin because she’s got such a great support system in her family and family-by-choice, but Griffin is more than ready to leave his solitary ways behind if it means he gets some of Caelyn’s sunshine in his days. While they both find their way, their friendship blossoms into what could easily be a beautiful forever together, but they have to figure out who means to do them harm first. And figuring that out is much easier said than done. Does a friend or foe or stranger wish to do them harm? There are a few possibilities and I wondered about each one. So when it all comes to a head, I was halfway shocked and all the way stunned by how it went down. But nothing can stand in the way of richly deserved happiness for Griffin and Caelyn, right? Or so we hope.
I especially admire how Catherine manages to keep each plot wholly unique and gripping. I never want to put her books down and I always want more, like the selfish reader I am. She never fails to impress, nor does she ever let me down. I can’t wait to keep moving on with this series because every story manages to top the one before it.
I went into the story blind and was very happy that I did because as I was turning the pages I was captivated immediately and it did not stop until the last word was read.
The story of Ford and Bell is not your typical love story of love at first sight, get married and have kids. Ford was dating Bell’s older sister Violet when tragedy struck, and Bell’s world was upended badly. Her and Ford were best friends and when she needed him during this difficult time he was nowhere to be found. When Ford reluctantly returns to his hometown of Anchor Island after 11 years he is reunited with memories that he thought he had left behind. When Bell and Ford are forced to work together wounds are opened up, feelings are shared, and learning to trust each other again like they did as young kids.
This was such a beautiful emotional story of love and friendship, learning to forgive and letting go of the past in order to move forward. I liked the unforeseen bit of mystery which was also added into the mix.
This is my first read by Catherine Cowles and I am so happy to have discovered such a talented author whose writing is emotional, heartfelt and real. The cover of this book is beautiful.
PERFECT WRECKAGE
5* Second Chance Love Stars
This is the second book in the Wrecked Series and can be read as a stand-alone however I strongly recommend you read the first book to get the full impact of the wonderful characters that are pivotal to the story of Kenna and Crosby.
Kenna had a rough upbringing and was adopted at 11 by Harriet, who was her grandmothers friend, after her passing. They became a close knit 2 person family as Harriets family wanted nothing to do with her and Anchor Island where she lived. When tragedy strikes Kenna’s world, the past comes back to haunt her, old wounds are opened up and Kenna is faced with dealing with the cards that have been handed to her.
When Crosby, who is the local lawyer and friend of hers, is there to help her navigate the path forward, feelings are felt and sparks are ignited but is this enough to pave a future together when doubt and trust issues still haunt his past.
It was wonderful to catch up with Kenna’s best friends Bell and Caelyn. They were fiercely faithful and supported her through her ordeal.
I absolutely loved this heartfelt and emotional love story and the epilogue was such a perfect ending to their journey.
I am loving this series and authors storytelling.
WRECKED PALACE
5* Emotional Stars
Caelyn and Griffin’s story was so heartfelt and emotional that I was captured from the first page until the last page was read.
Both of them had been dealt such hardships in their lives and their wounds were so deep that they did not believe that they were worthy of love or happiness. It was magical watching Caelyn and broody Griffin transform from friends to lovers. This slow burn romance had some suspense to it which I enjoyed.
This wonderful story was abundant with family and friends who loved and protected each other fiercely. Caelyn’s siblings were so special and loveable.
I highly recommend this well written beautiful story of deserving love which has all the feels that come with it. A wonderful addition to the Wrecked Series.
I mean what more can you ask for when you get these 3 books from this AMAZING author all in one! The box set is simply amazing and everyone needs them in their life!
Reckless Memories Swoon! Ford and Bell are so perfect for each other. They absolutely complete each other better than they even realized, until they are forced back into each other’s lives after years apart. The love never went away, only to come back deeper and more intense. The protectiveness of Ford and the rest of her family was awesome. Bell was such a strong woman after everything she went through and her ability to get to where she was was amazing. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. Fabulous work Catherine Cowles, I loved it.
Perfect Wreckage
Catherine never disappoints when she puts out a book and you can’t help but fall in love with all the characters she brings to life. Kenna and Crosby are both fighting their past and trying to find their new normal. The back and forth banter between the two is amazing and you can’t help but want to keep reading to find out how everything will play out. Can’t wait to read how the rest of the series plays out.
Wrecked Palace Catherine hits it out of the park yet again! I didn’t think I could keeping loving the next book more than others but she keeps it coming. Caelyn and Griffin’s story is so heartfelt in the way Griffin is alpha male to the highest point and his need to protect Caelyn and her family after he suffered such a tragic lose of his family many years ago. It’s suspenseful that you don’t want to put the book down so it made for a quick read. I love all of Catherine’s books and can’t wait for more.
The first three books I’m The wrecked series all in one place!
Reckless Memories
This is the first book in a new series by Catherine and it has everything I’ve come to love about her writing, an amazing love story with emotion and a dash of suspense/mystery thrown in. I have been intrigued about Ford since he was introduced in Further to Fall and I loved reading his story. There was so much that both Ford and Bell needed to overcome in their lives but it just made them getting their happily ever after that much sweeter. I cannot wait for more from this series.
Perfect Wreckage
I loved everything about this book. I loved both Kenna and Crosby from the very beginning and I went through a rollercoaster of emotions while reading their story. Happiness, anger, hatred, heartbreak, sadness, frustration, fear, utter joy. It was such an amazing story and am so glad they got their happiness! Cannot wait for Caelyn and Griffins book!
Wrecked Palace
I just knew Griffin would become my favourite hero, and it didn’t even take long. Yeah he’s a little grumpy and brooding but when he opens up he is everything! Caelyn I already knew was amazing, with everything she does for her family and friends and I love that you get to see her relationship with her siblings more. She has the biggest heart and it was so great she got some happiness for herself. This book wasn’t just about Griffin and Caelyn though, I love that you get to know the tiny terrors and get more of bell/Ford and Kenna/Crosby. And the relationship that develops between Griffin and the kids was just as beautiful as watching Caelyn and him fall inlove!
If you love small-town romances, this box set is for you. Wrecked Beginnings by Catherine Cowles is an EPIC read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
These books delivered on all of my favorite things in a Catherine Cowles book—suspense, raw and real emotions, great world building, strong character development and dynamic plots. These things all worked together to create books that you don’t want to end, but are simultaneously very hard to put down without wanting to race to their ends.
There really aren’t words to describe this book and Ms. Cowles’s words. Each book I read I love more and more and this book is no different. I have to admit I was sad to leave Sutter Lake but man, now I want to move to Anchor Island and I’m ok being in a new place with new characters. And boy these characters. Bell and Ford, yes Ford. I remember him from the beginning and I love that we got his story! Anyways, their life. From the very beginning of this book I was hooked and my heart was pretty much bleeding. But what Ms. Cowles’ does best is putting your heart back together when reading. And she did that and then some. I adore the crap out of these two and their friends. And I can’t wait for more. Maybe they’ll be a little easier on the heart. But then again, a book where I can cry and laugh at the same time is one I’ll never regret reading. It means it’s one of the good ones. One that can get multiple emotions from me is one I will never forget. Ford and Bell are stuck in my heart and I will love them and this book always! And I really want to take a trip to Anchor Island!!!
Every time I finish one of Ms. Cowles books I think I’ve read my favorite one. And then I read the next one and I’m just blown out of the water! Kenna and Crosby are EVERYTHING! I couldn’t put this book down. There’s some emotion, there’s laughter and tears, and there’s one big douche bag. But all together it’s just omg amazing!! And I really love Anchor Island. Plus we see appearances from our other favorite characters too! I can’t wait for our next adventure on this island!
I have no words. No words that will do this book any justice at all. This is without a doubt my most favorite book by Ms. Cowles. And yes it’s the first day of 2021 but I know without a doubt it will be one of my top reads this year. I have been waiting for Caelyn and Griffin’s story. I love this entire series but I’ve been intrigued by Caelyn from the beginning. I was sucked right in and I couldn’t put this book down. Mia stole my heart right along with Griffin and of course, Caelyn, Will, and Ava. I mean they all really did but Mia, man she’s a little spitfire and the best. I just don’t have the words to describe my love for this story. I was hooked and just so much love! Ms. Cowles has the best right here! My favorite book of hers and her best one yet!
Three amazing stories in 1 set! I have read all three books several times and when they came out in the box set I had to read them one more time!! Wrecked Beginnings is the first three books in a beautifully written series. Catherine has a way of grabbing your attention on page one. Her writing draws you n with her beautiful descriptions of towns and characters. The relationships between the characters and their group of friends is a fun and emotional journey to follow. I love how she has little twists and suspense in her stories along with the beautiful love story that is in each one. This series is a must-read if you love amazing friendships, small-town romance, second chances, and bits of mystery and suspense.
I absolutely loved all three of these books. It is the kind of series that grabs ahold of you and doesn't let go. I was always hanging on to every word. The characters are extremely lovable and the stories for each book were unique and fantastic. I love the element of suspense and some drama within the romance. This series is definitely worth the try.
4.5 Stars Wrecked Beginnings is a three book collection containing the first 3 books in Cowle’s 5 book Wrecked series which apparently followed her Sutter Lake series because there is a brief reference to a few characters from that series. The first 3 books in the Wrecked series are built around Belle Kiptick and her two besties Kenna and Caelyn. Each book can be read as a standalone but just as with her Sutter Lake series the characters from the previous stories make frequent appearance in each other’s books. Also, there are spoilers to the earlier books contained in the following books. So it helps if you read them in order unlike myself who discovered Cowles and this series by reading the 5th book first. Reckless Memories Being the first book in the series we’re not only introduced to the main couple Ford Hardy and Isabelle (aka. Bell) Kiptick, but to most of the other characters major and minor who will make up the series. We also learn about Anchor Island an imaginary island in a group of islands off the shore of Seattle Washington where this series takes place. Ford Hardy and Violet Kiptick had been together since pre-school. They were each other’s first everything. Isabelle is Violet’s two years younger sister. Ford may love the beautiful and easy going Vi but it is Isabelle or as he calls her “Trouble” who shares is adventurous nature and who understands him best and whom he understands. Isabelle has secretly harbored a crush on her sister’s boyfriend for as long as she can remember. He’s her best friend and often partner in crime. Ford and Violet make plans to attend Seattle College together but the summer before they are due to leave a terrible auto accident with Ford at the wheel takes Violet’s life and leaves Isabelle severely injured. Ford overcome by grief and guilt leaves Anchor Island and doesn’t return until ten years later when his younger brother Hunter guilts him into returning to help run The Catch, the family’s bar/restaurant, while their father recovers from a stroke. Believing the accident was his fault and that Isabelle must hate him for killing her sister, Ford has avoided the Island since he was released from the hospital. Isabelle, now calling herself Belle has been managing the restaurant for years after graduating from college because Ford’s parents have been more loving and caring of her than her own parents ever were. Belle doesn’t’ blame Ford for the accident but she does resent him for leaving her alone to grieve her sister’s loss and go through a long rehabilitation herself from her injuries from the accident. She has no clue what role her parents played in Ford’s leaving or the guilt he carries for the accident. Over the past decade she has come to terms with her sister’s death, her parent’s inability to accept her for whom she is and built a good life for herself. When Ford suddenly returns to help run the family business all of her old emotional wounds are reopened. As she and Ford gradually rebuild their relationship a stalker emerges threatening both of them. The characters both Ford and Belle and their families and friends are great in this story. Okay, well Belle’s mother and her childhood nemesis Lacey and her mother aren’t. But the rest of them are likable. This story has a lot of angst which normally I’m not a big fan of but in this story it make sense. Ford blaming himself for the accident makes sense. Belle being crushed by Ford leaving her in her time of desperate need makes sense. Both of them feeling guilty for their feelings for each other in light of Violet’s death makes sense. Even Hunter’s resentment of Ford never returning to Anchor Island leaving him to try to support his parents by himself by running both his construction business and helping Bell run The Catch after his father’s stroke made sense. As typical for a Catherine Cowles book there’s equal measures of romance, suspense, danger and a little sex thrown in, all in a small community setting. Perfect Wreckage This is Kenna and Crosby’s story. Kenna is an emotional mess. She has abandonment issues because she never knew her father, her alcoholic mother abandoned her and her high school love cheated on her, got her pregnant and dumped her before her first year of college. Also because her mother being the town drunk was the source of much gossip by the residents of the small Anchor Island population, Kenna feels the need to never step outside the lines and do something that might remind people of her mother. At age 11 Kenna was taken in as a legal ward and cared for like a loving grandchild by the wealthy and elderly Harriet Abbot (grandmother of Grant, the boy who knocked her up) and friend of her late grandmother. Harriet and her friends Bell and Caelyn are the only people Kenna has ever really trusted. Like her two besties Kenna suffers from serious abandonment issues. Crosby our male protagonist comes from a wealthy Boston family. He grew up trying to fit the mold his parents set for him. He got his Ivy League law degree,, worked long hours to make partner and got engaged to Alicia a young woman his parents approved of. When he discovered Alicia was cheating on him with his best friend he realized his whole existence was as fragile as a house of cards and living to meet others expectations wasn’t making him happy. So he moved to the other side of the country to Anchor Island set up a law practice where he could use his law degree to help others and give himself plenty of time to enjoy life outside of work. Crosby has convinced himself that he wants nothing to do with a life that involves working 9-5 and coming home to a wife, 2.5 children and a house with a white picket fence because it would be too confining and controlling. Harriet dies leaving the bulk of her estate to Kenna whom she loves like a daughter or granddaughter. This doesn’t sit well with Harriet’s greedy, self-entitled son, daughter-in-law or grandson. All of whom who had pretty much abandoned the elderly woman to Kenna’s care for the past decade only to return to Anchor Island to try and claim the estate now that Harriet has passed. Crosby was Harriet’s attorney. He has also been flirting with Kenna for years. Kenna thinks Crosby is like Grant, just another entitled rich guy who is used to getting whatever he wants. Kenna acting out of character but desperate to alleviate the emotional numbness she finds herself drowning in takes Crosby as a lover in a FWB relationship. Crosby becomes her main protector in the legal battle with the Abbots over Harriet’s estate. While this is a main story line the fact that Harriet had made an iron clad will and prior to leaving most of her estate to Kenna had a doctor certify that she was of sound mind, the fact that the Abbots had any chance to overturn the will seemed improbable as the court battle dragged out for most of the story. While Kenna is sleeping with Crosby and he is working to legally protect her Kenna discovers that she had unfairly saddled Crosby with a lot of wrong assumptions about his character based upon the way her wealthy and spoiled ex-boyfriend had treated her. She begins to realize Crosby is the kind of man she could see herself falling in love with. But then in typical contemporary romance male protagonist form, he’s told her he wasn’t the kind of guy to settle down so that would be a dead end. Of course Kenna has also told Crosby she only wants a sexual relationship with him. Can Kenna and Crosby protect Harriet’s estate from her family’s greed? Can they find their way to true love despite all the walls they’ve built around their hearts?
Wrecked Palace The title of this book refers to the rundown family mansion/summer home our male protagonist Griffin Lockwood is restoring and a metaphor for his life. Embarrassingly for me a red-blooded male to admit, I think I found myself tearing up at the tender moments in this story as much as Caelyn the crier did. Griffin has made a couple of brief appearances in the earlier books. First helping to save Ford when he was attacked in Wrecked Beginnings and then he cold cocks Grant Abbot the villain in Perfect Wreckage for insulting this books female protagonist Caelyn O’Connor. Griffin comes from a family I would refer to as American royalty. When he was sixteen he lost both his parents and his beloved younger sister Beth in a boating accident from which he was the only survivor. Coming from such a notable family Griffin was hounded endlessly by the paparazzi, and the few people he trusted turned on him to make a buck. After years of roaming aimlessly across America he returns to Anchor Island to singlehandedly restore his family’s summer home there which holds some of his best memories in order to give his life some sense of purpose. On his infrequent trips into town Caelyn who manages the General Store, the local grocery/lunch bar catches his eye in a big way.. Caelyn O’Connor has been a prominent secondary character in the first two stories in this series because the first three books are based upon herself and her two besties Bell and Kenna. All three girls who came from dysfunctional families (to put it mildly) bonded together in grade school. Caelyn the most hopelessly romantic of the three is the only single one left and while she doesn’t begrudge her friends finding their forever love it only makes her more aware of not having that special someone in her life that puts her first. Her drug addict parents abandoned her and her siblings and every boy and man she’s ever dated has found her lacking. Deep down Caelyn wonders why she’s unlovable. We know from the previous books that Caelyn was forced to give up her scholarship and drop out of college in her junior year to return home to Anchor Island and become the guardian of her three younger siblings Will, Ava and Mia. Her father has disappeared and is wanted by the police. Her mother is in jail serving a twelve year sentence although its not clear what she did to receive such a harsh sentence. As this series and this book opens it’s six years since Caelyn took custody of her siblings. Caelyn finds herself a struggling single mom trying to be everything to her younger siblings whom she deeply loves. She doesn’t resent the sacrifices and the hard work but the responsibility of being solely responsible financially and emotionally for her siblings is wearing her down. Her friends try to help her as much as possible but Caelyn’s pride limits how much of their help she’ll accept. Caelyn is already working two jobs, the landlord has raised her rent and her youngest sister Mia wants to take expensive advanced gymnastic lessons and college for her brother Will is only a couple of years off. Caelyn is overwhelmed. One day while stopping into the General Store to see Cailyn under the pretense of wanting to grab lunch Griffin overhears Caelyn basically begging the stores owner for more hours to help her out financially. Griffin who is a billionaire comes up with a plan to help Cailyn out of her financial distress without making it seem like charity. He offers to pay her an exorbitant amount for Cailyn to be his pseudo-personal chef and make him prepared meals he can heat up at home. Caelyn realizes the handsome man she’s been secretly crushing on for months is being overly generous but she’s in no position to refuse the job offer. This puts Cailyn and the extremely private Griffin in regular contact and before you know it he’s also being introduced to her siblings. It doesn’t take long for Caelyn and her adorable siblings to break down the walls Griffin has built around his heart and begin to make his wrecked palace feel like a home. Of course this is a contemporary romance so even as they’re falling in love Griffin and Caelyn have their own emotional baggage to work through. And because this is a Catherine Cowles contemporary romance there has to be a threat of danger surrounding Caelyn and her siblings. Shortly after Caelyn is notified her mother has been given early parole threatening things begin to occur. It starts with a note on her SUV windshield and then escalates to a brick thrown through her front window. Which leads to Cailyn and the kids temporarily moving into Griffin’s big home. But the threats against the family keep escalating. Are they coming from Caelyn’s mother or father or someone else? This book is so full of tender moments between Cailyn and her siblings and the kids with Griffin you might want to keep a box of Kleenex handy. There’s plenty of romance as Caelyn and Griffin learn more about each other and fall in love. If you wait long enough there’s some sexy scenes. There’s the warm happy feels of Bell, Ford, Kenna, Crosby and Hunter supporting the couple and the children. This may be the best of three very good books to start this series.
Give me all the small town romances, especially if Catherine Cowles is writing them. “Reckless Memories” is an emotional, action packed and healing romance that was a great start to the new series.
Ford and Bell’s past when they were younger was connected by growing up together and when Ford started dating Bell’s sister. And then tragedy tore them apart where an accident injured Bell and killed her sister. Fast forward years later, Bell is still in their small town, healed but missing her sister. And when Ford’s family business needs help, he comes back home to feelings from back then and new feelings start to surface.
I loved the look back on how Ford and Bell were friends when they were younger and what led them to how their lives were lived now. The two have an easy and complicated past at the same time. Ford might have dated Bell’s sister but that was during high school and people change and grow so much so it wasn’t weird for them to have feelings for each other. They address that and when things come to light, it all makes sense. I loved Bell, she was independent, caring and had the best friends a girl could ask for. Ford is a good guy who was battling guilt from what happened all those years ago. I loved these two together and they worked through things like adults and old friends should. The added suspense of someone coming after both of them had me listening to figure out who it was.
Andi Arndt was amazing as Bell. Her performance was emotional and caring just like Bell. I always love listening to her bring a character to life.
Perfect Wreckage
I loved Kenna and the little bit of Crosby from the first book and I’m glad we got their story next. “Perfect Wreckage” is a steamy, emotional and action packed friends to lovers romance that pulled on my heartstrings.
Kenna was abandoned by her mother at a young age and was raised by Harriett, who became her guardian. After Harriett passes away, Kenna learns that the estate Harriet had is now her. However, her absent family is less than pleased and that includes her ex who shattered her heart at 18. Crosby was Harriet’s lawyer and has always had a flirty banter with Kenna. But Kenna has never wanted anything to do with Crosby but as the two spend time together to fight her ex’s family over the estate, a connection between forms.
Kenna’s independence from the first book spoke to me and I loved her for it. She’s smart, caring, and will do anything for her friends that are her found family. Crosby has a goofy outside personality but underneath is a guy who cares so deeply. I loved how involved he was with the foster care system and wanted to help the kids in the system any way he could. The banter between these two had me laughing more than once and I loved the chemistry that they had. It was a medium-ish burn but once it ignited, it grew hotter. Both had some personal demons from the past they had to battle before they could really be together. Both were scared but they needed to fight the past to have a future. I loved the last few chapters and the ending for them was perfect.
Maxine Mitchell was perfect as Kenna. Maxine’s narration was emotional, caring and gripping. She brought Kenna alive perfectly and I loved listening to her.
Wrecked Palace
The anticipation and longing of this slow burn had me non-stop listening. “Wrecked Palace” is an emotional, heartfelt and romantic friends to lovers/protector slow burn that pulled on my heartstrings.
Caelyn has been the guardian of her three younger siblings ever since one night changed their lives forever. She has worked tirelessly to provide everything they could need to have the best life possible. As the manager of the general store, she sees just everyone and that includes the grumpy and closed off newcomer, Griffin. Griffin is back on the island after being years away and he’s rebuilding his family home. Caelyn and Griffin are opposites but they have always felt a pull towards each other. And when someone from Caelyn’s past starts to threaten her and her siblings, Griffin instantly steps in and vows to protect them.
The teasing about these two in the past book was just a small taste of how important they would become to each other. Both have had difficult pasts and while they left an impression on their lives, they needed each other to become whole and happy again. Caelyn is by far one of the least selfish people and her love for her siblings and friends is unmatched. Griffin’s losing his family broke my heart and I felt so much for this man. I loved Caelyn and Griffin together. They were acquaintances, then friends and with the slowest of the burns, progressed into a romantic relationship. They fit each other so perfectly, like two puzzle pieces. I loved Caelyn’s siblings and how Griffin was protective of them and so caring as well. The ending was perfect for them and I can’t wait for the next book.
Ava Erickson was perfect as Caelyn. Her performance was gripping, emotional and had me tearing me up more than once.
This is the first three books in one box set of The Wrecked Series and it is a must read. This is book one in The Wrecked Series and it is Bell and Ford's story and get ready for a roller coaster ride of emotions. When Isabelle was younger she had a hard time at home as she was always compared to her sister Violet by her mother, Isabelle's only light in her life was her friendship for Ford and she also had feelings for him but he was her sister's boyfriend. Then disaster struck and things will never been the same again. Ford has now returned home to help with the family bar but his heart is in L A where he has made a life for himself and know owns bars and nightclubs but know he has to face his demons but where will it all end. Omg this story just gutted me and broke my heart with all the emotional situations and I found myself in tears so many times. This book takes you in right from the first page and you have to keep turning to see what happens next and it is so addictive and you feel like you are going through everything with them. This is book two in The Wrecked Series and it is Kenna and Crosby's story and it was so emotional. Kenna had been in love with Grant only for him to betray her by having an affair and when she told him that she was pregnant things didn't go as planned but that wasn't the worst that she would have to go through. Crosby is a lawyer and he uses his experiences to help people and he is a good guy but will not do commitment due to last experience of betrayal but he loves to tease Kenna to see the spit fire come to life. Kenna has been through so much in her life so now she blocks everything and everyone out and shows no emotions as that way she can't be hurt again but what and who will it take to break down her walls that are so high, that person will have to be so patient, caring and special to get through to her and show.her she has people that care. Omg this book is so amazing but so emotional that I found myself in tears on more than one occasion so make sure that you have the tissues handy because you will definitely need them. I couldn't put this book down and I had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. There are so many twists and turns along with very difficult situations, secrets, betrayal, abuse, hope, love and a second chance and that is what made this book a real page turner and so addictive. This is book three in The Wrecked Series and it is Caelyn and Griffin's story and omg it just blew me away. Caelyn has gone through so much to get custody of her siblings after things got really bad and dangerous with there parents making there home life unstable and now years later things were getting better as her siblings grew up but it hasn't been easy and she was still struggling financially and she still worried that she was doing everything right for them. Griffin had seen his whole family die in a boating accident right in front of him and he has had survivors guilt but now he was back on Anchor Island after being away for a decade as he wanted to restore the farmhouse that meant everything to him and held many memories of his family. Words cannot describe how amazing and emotional this story was and it just blew me away. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the first page and I couldn't put this book down as it was so good and addictive. Caelyn and Griffin were both so broken but together they could do and get through just about anything and Will, Mia and Ava absolutely stole the show and my heart as this family had been through so much heartache together that it would break a person and you felt everything that they had and was still going through as if you were there with them and the biggest surprise was Griffin who was an amazing man, so kind, gentle, patient and protective even after everything that he has been through but when you put the lot of them together you couldn't wish for anything more perfect. The friends that they have are so loyal, protective and they are always there to support and be there for each other. I absolutely love Catherine Cowles as she is an incredibly author and writer and every one of her books are a true masterpiece's. I definitely recommend you read this box set and you will definitely not be disappointed as she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and on the edge of their seats.
I Voluntarily Reviewed an Arc Copy of this Amazing Box Set.
Reckless Memories: Another great book by Catherine. This is a friends to lovers book. But a lot of heartache had to occur before this relationship could even blossom. One tragic night, tore families apart. So much hurt, betrayal and miscommunication was in affect for a decade. When Ford is asked to come home and help with the family business, reluctantly he came home. When he walked in to the Catch, Bell was shocked. She couldn’t believe after Allendale this time, Ford finally came home. All the angry and hurt feelings came back to the surface. All Ford could do is apologize. After heart to heart and difficult talks, Ford and Bell started to find their friendship again. But strange things are beginning to happen to Bell and then Ford. Devastating things! All based upon what happened that tragic night. Now Ford and friends are on the lookout for who is after Bell. This book grabbed my attention right at the beginning and it was difficult to set down! My pulse was racing at the end. Gah! A definite must read!
Perfect Wreckage: This is book two in the Wrecked series and it was just as good as the first. The books are circulating through three best friends. First was Bell’s book. This one is about Kenna. The books could be read as stand alone’s since their based on a different person. But reading the series gives you more of the background on the town and the individuals in it. Kenna is a fortress. She has her walls so high, no one will be able to take them down. But she didn’t anticipate, Crosby. Kenna and Crosby were real good at banter. Kenna had it in her head that Crosby was a surfer who didn’t really have a care in the world. But she began to get to know him. And she learned how wrong she really was. Crosby wondered why she seemed so put together. Never a hair out of place and never just lived. Kept things in order and didn’t do anything that she couldn’t control. He was an adventurous person. Slowly he was able to get Kenna to open up and do things. Both of them have very unpleasant pasts. And those pasts seem to have come into the present. Crosby will do anything to help Kenna. But he’s not looking for a long term relationship. He is not a forever kind of guy. But when the two become close, the chemistry is off the charts. They slowly start climbing each other’s walls until they are finally at the top and knocking them down. But just when their making headway, that pesky past starts in again and it spooks Crosby. Kenna knows what she now wants and it’s him. Will he get his head on straight and figure out what he wants before it is to late? Kenna will be fine with her friends, but she want more. This book will have you laughing, crying and stomping your foot. This quote from Caelyn had me laughing so loud. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. You tripped over the tassel on your shoe.” She gave a little shrug. “Who knew it was so dangerous to dress like a douchebag?” I really enjoyed this book. It is a definite must read.
Wrecked Palace: Holy cannoli! This book is absolutely amazing. Caelyn and Griffin are now one of my favorite couples. How her heart brought light into Griffins life again and how Griffin brought safety into hers. Griffin is known as a loner. Won’t let anyone close to him, until Caelyn and her siblings came into his life. He wasn’t sure he would ever get over his past. Caelyn has a heart of gold. She has full custody of her younger siblings. Even though she wouldn’t change a thing, she’s worn out. And she feels that no one has ever put her first. When she begins to receive threats, Griffin is right there along her side. He feels he needs to protect her and the kids. So their friendship begins to blossom. Let’s not forget these younger siblings, Will, Ava & Mia. These kids mean the world to Caelyn and they are beginning to mean the world to Griffin. Mia calls him her “Giant”. All the kids are just so awesome! She is definitely a little card and I just loved reading about her. Will is the protector, Ava is the shy one and Mia is just a happy go lucky kid. This book is absolutely phenomenal. All your emotions will come out. And you’ll want tissues too! This is a book you definitely do not want to miss out on.
Reckless Memories Beautiful story about moving beyond unimaginable hurts to take a chance on love.
It’s the first book in the series, but (*bonus*) has tie-ins to her previous books (if you haven’t read them, bump them up on your TBR).
Thank goodness I started to read this on a weekend. I don’t know how I would have imagined putting it down to work! I was drawn in immediately and found myself rooting for Bell and Ford from the start. Ms. Cowles knocked it out of the park with this one!
She artfully and creatively created realistic characters that immediately found a way in my heart. Ford is a man living with the guilt of a teen, needing redemption, but afraid to hope. Bell is living half a life, avoiding anything that might bring painful memories to life. She’s spent her adult life trying to avoid her hypercritical mother and distant father while letting Ford’s parents pull her in as an adoptive member of her family.
Reckless Memories is a beautiful story about moving beyond unimaginable heart wrecking pains of the past to take a chance on love. It’s got family, healing, revenge, second chance, and true-blue friends … with suspense, romance, and sigh-worthy witty dialogue and declarations of love that are heart stopping in their honesty.
Perfect Wreckage
Holey Moley! Perfect Wreckage, Catherine Cowles’ second book in the Wrecked series, is amazing .. as in AMAZING!!!
... insta re-read of multiple scenes that I can only describe to be raw, honest, and romantic beyond belief.
Realistic characters, storyline that moves the series forward while simultaneously being a standalone, and a plot and subplot that is incredibly well written and tightly woven.
If you read the first book in the series, you’ve been introduced to Bell, Carolyn, Kenna and Ford ... they are all in Perfect Wreckage in all their glory!
Kenna and Crosby have a slow burn that turns into sizzling romance. Crosby pushes Kenna and her friends to drop her shields and let in those that she trusts ... all while he remains steadfast in his own world. She’s relying on Crosby’s legal skills to help her defend her recent inheritance from Harriet, whose loss has dealt Kenna a breathtaking blow ... only to be increased by the legal challenge by her former boyfriend Grant and his family.
Perfect Wreckage is a friends to lovers, HEA, suspenseful romance story that is one you’ll want to download immediately ... and clear your calendar because you’ll want to immerse yourself in Anchor Island and Kenna’s story.
Wrecked Palace Sometimes when things seem hopeless & there is no way one, the path clears and one realizes that riches and beauty you dared not dream of are in reach.
This is the story of Wrecked Palace, Catherine Cowels’ third book in the Wrecked series. It’s Caelyn and Griffin’s story, characters from her other books. Each of them thought they were saving the other ... but really they were saving themselves. The one thing they could agree on is the kids ... Caelyn’s young sisters and teenaged brother. The story is set on Anchor Island, a place I desperately hope is real (but am afraid to look up for fear that it is not!)
Wrecked Palace is a HEA part of a series that is so well written you can read it as a standalone. I loved the book from the start and didn’t want it to end.
Ms. Cowels has written another home run with well developed, realistic characters that will wrap around your heart from the start. The storyline is continual and robust with subplots of unimaginable loss, of picking yourself up by the bootstraps, of taking chances, of bravery, fidelity, passion, and trust.
I generously received an ARC from the author and am pleased to leave my honest review
RECKLESS MEMORIES: Catherine Cowles never ceases to amaze me! I was so excited to start this book (and series) and of course it did not disappoint! Reckless Memories takes place on Anchor Island off the coast near Seattle. Small town life at its finest and the feelings while reading this novel were very real!
We first met Ford Hardy in Further to Fall. He is a very good friend of Austin's. When circunstances bring him back to Anchor Island, can he break through the small town walls and get back to feeling welcome in his own hometown? Ford has many personal issues that he works through throughout this story.
Bell works at The Catch a long-standing bar and restaurant in town. She has been working there for years helping the Hardy family when they became her family as a teenager. Taking care of and keeping the bar afloat has been her everything for a long time. When her tragic past rolls into town, can she continue moving forward?
I adored this story. As always, I didnt want to put it down and everything about it was moving. Spectacular writing Cathering Cowles! Thank you for another great novel and, I suspect, series! I cannot wait for more!
PERFECT WRECKAGE: A new favorite, again! I shouldn't be surprised! Catherine Cowles blows me away everytime! I absolutely loved Kenna and Crosby. Their chemistry was on fire! And that prologue absolutely kills your emotions and truly makes you not want to put the book down.
Kenna is one of Bell's best friends from Reckless Memories. She had a rough childhood and actually grew up on Anchor Island with Harriet after her mother left her. She is an accountant and likes to keep her life in a nice little box where she can be safe and feel secure.
Crosby is one of Ford's close friends and a lawyer in town. Always categorized as a jokester, he is often not taken seriously. After being burned in his past, he is cautious of letting people get close and seriosuly values what he considers his freedom.
Is there something that could bring Kenna and Crosby together? Even as it starts as something casual and they work through each others issues to come out stronger together in the end? I absolutely loved this story and getting know the characters of Anchor Island better. I cannot wait for the next in the series!
WRECKED PALACE: Wrecked Palace is the third installment of the Wrecked series by Catherine Cowles. It is a truly touching story of two people who have to learn to take a chance and trust that not everyone is going to leave them.
Caelyn is the guardian of her three younger siblings. She works so hard, but enjoys everything that is taking care of and providing her siblings with a safe place to grow up. When the mysterious town loaner starts coming into the grocery store that she works at, she makes a game of trying to make him grin.
Griffin lost everything he knew at age 16. Left alone in the world, trusting others never comes easy. But he is drawn to the burnette that makes him mystery sandwiches at the grocery store on the island.
Can Griffin and Caelyn find some common ground where they can get to know each other? Will Caelyn's outstanding troubles be too much?
I absolutely loved this story. It really hit you in the feels and I didn't want to out it down. I loved Caelyn, Griffin, and the kids. Their dynamic and chemistry was so much fun!
I love almost anything she writes! I do agree that her books all have a very similar plot. Boy and girl meet in some way, for whatever reason the couple "just can't be together" according to them for whatever reason, the girl gets into some sort of danger but doesn't want to be protected, boy hardcore protects anyway, someone almost dies, then they are either engaged or married. But... I still love it. I don't have to wonder if the significant other will be the villain.. which I hate. She's one of my favorites! I'll be honest, I LOVE LOVE LOVE when the guy is overprotective of the girl in a loving way. Give me all the damsels in distress and the badass hotties coming to save them!! Overall, I loved these! I'm not usually one for a super slow burn, but if I can get some excitement sprinkled in, especially if it involves the protective streak of the guy! ♥️🙂🙂
Book One- So good!! This had the best pacing out of the three, sprinkling in a decent amount of excitement to keep it moving and helped it not feel like it was dragging on. The situation between the two main characters brought on so many emotions and I couldn't help but feel so heartbroken for both of them. What a hard place to be in. I loved how this one wrapped up. I also loved how well she developed all of the characters in the book. It gave the series a really strong start. ** Side note: even with my opinion on the second book, the banter between Kenna and Crosby in this book provided the perfect dosage of humor in really intense parts to provide some balance.
Book Two- I hate to say this, but this book is the reason for 4 stars. I usually love her books, but I was not a fan of this one. Mainly because of one issue... Crosby. I'm sorry, I'm not saying break ups don't suck, but you've really declared a lifetime of remaining single and "free" because of one really bad break up? Again, they can be awful. I get it. Been there. But come on... It seemed like everything was on his terms. He pushed her nonstop to give him attention, open up, etc, then as soon as she finally lets herself trust after everything she's been through (and sorry, but her stuff was WAY worse than his), he goes right into be a selfish ass. She let him get by with way too much of that. Not even to update her on the case about HER life because he's too busy being a whiny baby about his "freedom"? No. I found him insufferable and wished she would have walked away. Kenna deserved way better.
Book Three- ALL. THE. FEELINGS!!! I'm legitimately sad that Griffin and Caelyn are not real people and that I have to accept the fact that they are made up characters. Anchor... Griffin is perfect, so back off! Lol. The deep connection between these two formed was incredible. The way he came in and loved those kids.. oh my gosh. That little "family" was the perfect example of beautiful connections coming out of some of the most intense heartbreak and loss a person can experience. The development of the characters in this book was some of the best I've ever read. She made us fall in love with them as a couple. I was rooting for them as a couple and as individuals! They didn't change eachother, but brought out the best parts of eachother.
I would definitely recommend this! Some might enjoy the second book more than the other two. Just a preference!!

Wrecked Beginnings is a collection of the first three standalone novels in the Wrecked series: Reckless Memories, Perfect Wreckage and Wrecked Palace. These riveting, engaging, poignant and heartfelt stories will leave you breathless and enthralled. They are written with so much depth and heart that will evoke every single emotion. I couldn’t help but be captivated and drawn to these beautiful rollercoasters of storylines that the author so skillfully intertwined and told. I was hooked from the very first page. A definite 5 star reads!
Reckless Memories: Ford and Bell! How much I loved and adored them. They were best friends growing up. So when tragedy strikes Bell loses the only person who believes in her – Ford. Ford Hardy left Anchor Island when he was eighteen years old. In all these years he never came back because memories haunted him and were too much for him. Bell attended college but then she came back to Anchor Island. She manages The Catch Bar & Restaurant for The Hardys. In some way Ford’s parents were more parents to her than her own. She respects them and has a wonderful relationship with them. Ford has a several bars which kept him occupied from the memories and bad thoughts. When Ford’s brother Hunter calls him and tells him it’s time for him to come back and help, Ford doesn’t have much choice but to confront his past. Bell and Ford aren’t the same people they once were. They are changed by what happened to them. Their friendship from the flashbacks was really amazing and adorable. They understood and supported each other. They were each other’s person. Now all they have left is betrayal, guilt, unresolved emotions and pain. They had a complicated, less than perfect do-over but after they got to know each other, they started to develop feelings and to see the real persons behind their mask and layers. They lit the pages with their chemistry, sassiness, banter and the way they called each other out. They are each other’s match, sinfully sexy and intense. Neither of them in the beginning is looking for a relationship, only to try to be friends again, but the feelings got involved / realization of the feelings that they might have for each other. Their timing might be a little off with everything that was happening but they clicked and simply understand each other. Their journey together isn’t easy. It is filled with a few obstacles and their past/memories were holding them back. I loved how they blossomed and thrived, got their chance at love and a new beginning. The ending was perfect for them.
Perfect Wreckage: Crosby is the resident lawyer on Anchor Island. We find out here that he grew up privileged but that he didn’t like the person he had become because of wealth and power. So he moved to this little island and slowly began to build his life. The island became his anchor, safe place and his freedom/chance to become a man he could be proud of. Crosby is such a swoon worthy hero. He is charming, easy-going, fun-loving and witty. But underneath all that he is vulnerable and damaged from his past. That is why he doesn’t exactly do relationships and it isn’t easy for him to connect or trust someone. Kenna is fantastic heroine. I was hurting for her and what happened to her. She might be quiet but she is so strong, resilient, loving, fierce and a fighter. She has her best friends Bell and Caelyn who support her through everything. Their friendship is so precious and amazing. Kenna is loving, caring, such a down to earth person and a planner.
Crosby and Kenna together are magic. Their snark, sassy, flirty banter was the highlight of my reading. They have such scorching chemistry. Even though they are opposite they are so similar too. Both were burned by the past and their trust was broken so it wasn’t easy for either of them to trust again. They don’t like to be vulnerable. They are effortless and familiar. There is also darkness and a dark cloud that follow them. He changed her. Actually, they changed each other. Crosby gave her back her voice and confidence. Crosby taught her that it’s okay to enjoy simple pleasures in life, to take a moment and live your life to the fullest. Kenna taught him how to love and trust again. He is drawn to her but can’t explain what is it about her that gets to him – makes him want to plan their future. I loved their off the charts chemistry and how patient he was with her, how slowly he brought her out of her shell. I loved how they blossomed and thrived even though life had thrown them quite a few obstacles. They are each other’s match. I love their moment, dialogues and banter; how they are just drawn to each other, how gradually they let each other in and began to trust each other. They simply understand each other. Maybe they don’t make sense but when they are together – they are just perfect and exactly what they need in order to heal and move on from the scars of their past. The epilogue was just beautiful, I wanted to last forever and to never let go of these amazing characters and world.
Wrecked Palace: Catherine gave us the most amazing, enjoyable, steamy, a little dark, suspenseful, heartfelt and heartbreaking read with such cleverly and brilliantly written plot twist. Griffin and Caelyn’s story is my favourite from the series.
I love how Griffin and Caelyn’s story unfolded. Watching their relationship grow and develop into something beautiful was really amazing. They are passionate, swoony and heartwarming but also intense, slow-burn, emotional and sometimes frustrating. They have an emotional connection, pull and chemistry which allowed their relationship to develop naturally despite all obstacles. Griffin and Caelyn are so drawn to each other and both feel this unknown sense of protectiveness. I love their moments, banter and dialogues which were the highlight of my reading. They started out as friends which was a great foundation for new beginnings/relationship. Separately they are beautiful mess, together they are perfectly imperfect. Their love story is not perfect. It’s layered, fast paced, real, raw, emotional, with depth, lies, secrets and forgiveness. The pace of the story added to their romance and to them figuring out place in life and new circumstances of situation. Griffin was so good with Will, Ava and Mia. He has such a good heart and soft spot for her siblings. Slowly they opened up to each other, brought down each other’s walls and won each other’s guarded hearts. Their chemistry is off the charts. They are both flawed and complex. There is some sort of understanding between them. She wins his smiles and he gets to take care of her and her siblings. Neither of them can deny the strong connection they feel nor the fiery chemistry. Caelyn brought him back to life. The epilogue was beautiful. I wanted to last forever and to never let go of them. Secondary characters have stolen my heart as did Will, Ava and Mia. They play really important, key role and add to the storyline and love story. They bring such delight, positivity and beauty.
BEAUTIFUL, UNPUTDOWNABLE, RAW, HEALING AND REAL! So well-written, so enjoyable and so entertaining. With an effortless writing, awe-inspiring details, unputdownable, intense stories and a journey of healing, finding faith again, forgiveness, second chance at love / believing in love, secrets, lies, mystery, self-discovery, the author takes us on an emotional, heartbreaking and beautiful journey of the characters and their struggles. Take a risk and read these books – box set, you will not regret it or be disappointed. In my opinion it will attract the readers who love contemporary romance and romantic suspense mixed with mystery, intrigue, damaged, rugged heroes and strong, fierce heroines.
Wrecked Beginnings A Wrecked Series Box Set: Books 1-3 By: Catherine Cowles Narrated by: Joe Arden, Andi Arndt, Maxine Mitchell, Ava Erickson
When a book can both break your heart and put it back together, you know it is a good one! Catherine Cowles has written an amazing series that does just this! Book 1, Reckless Memories is a story of loss, pain, redemption and love and brings everything full circle. Ford, Violet and Bell are a childhood trio until the unthinkable happens. Now years later, Ford returns to town to help his family's bar from going out of business and finds Bell there. Their bond from childhood still in place despite the circumstances cannot be extinguished and now there is the possibility of more. Or is there? This complex story has so many twists and turn, and emotional pulls that I could not stop listening. I was intrigued by Bell. She is not only pretty, but she is smart and talented! Ford carries a lot of weight on his shoulders, but we can see the man he is and chooses to be. Add in a little suspense and a twist that makes you cringe and worry, and this story has it all! Book 2, Perfect Wreckage is another that will pull you in. Kenna has had her share of hurt and grief over the years, and her heart is guarded. Living with Harriet has been her safeguard and the one place she feels loved. Crosby is Harriet's lawyer, and nothing excites him more then riling Kenna up. Friends to lovers, these two find their relationship changing when circumstances change. Nothing prepares them for the storm that is coming, and the feelings that result.. Their romance is passion filled, and full of bumps and I love that in a story. Then we have the story outside of the couple, and it's intriguing. I love the power play, the desperation and suspense it brings. Book 3 Wrecked Palace pulled me in and kept me captivated. Caelyn's life as a college student takes a complete turn when she becomes guardian for her three siblings. Willing to sacrifice her life to give them a stable, happy home, she does what she needs to get by. Griffin, a tortured "giant" of a man, struggles everyday with his past. Cowles lets us watch how two souls compliment each other. We also have the fabulous cast of siblings adding innocence. Love and humor. It's a culmination of all emotions with cameos from our favorites in the series. You too will love this box set!
Andi Arndt, Joe Arden, Ava Erickson and Maxine Mitchell are magnificent in their narration of these stories. These consummate professionals make all the characters so real. They have our hearts with and pull us into the story with all the emotions and all the love. They find the essence of the characters and give them life. Better casting could not have been chosen for this storytelling.
Reckless Memories - Coming home to help his family's bar, Ford comes face to face with the one person that guilt kept him away from - his dead girlfriend's little sister Bell. But chance encounters have a way to break down the walls of hurt and anger that have kept them apart. Can you find love after loss? Or will the small town they reside in not allow them to go forward to find their HEA? This book broke my heart. Between the accident that killed Violet and the estranged relationships that Ford forced himself to live with every day this was just emotional overload. Catherine Cowles once again gives the reader a journey that has more twists and turns than a rollercoaster while making them cry, laugh and eventually sigh with happiness.
Perfect Wreckage - Living a solitary life and only letting a few close friends in, Kenna finds herself having to resurrect her past when she finds herself in a court battle over the property that Harriet left her in her will. Needing an attorney, she gets aide from Crosby who she needs to let into her life. But opening herself up to Crosby and letting all the baggage she has carried around can do one of two things....either close herself off once again or open herself up to finding happiness and true love. Can Crosby be the man to win her heart? Or will the family that she is up against cause more harm than good? When is the fight a good fight? The connection between Kenna and Crosby is more than just a love story. It also encompasses loss and grief, overcoming obstacles and finding true inner strength to overcome the baggage others have put in your life. Truly a heartwarming story.
Wrecked Palace - In the blink of an eye Caelyn's life changed when once phone call took her from college student to having the custody of her three younger siblings. Things have been rocky, but the family has survived, and the kids have flourished. Griffin has had his own family tragedy leaving him in a life of gruffness and solitude. Can Griffin come out of his shell and work through his past to find a life with Caelyn and the kids? Or will the burdens from her past that come back to haunt them all be too much for him to break from his shell and let love in? From the opening pages to the very last one, this book had me hooked and I could not put it down. I found myself saying one more chapter at 3 in the morning and still had to finish the book. Filled with heart wrenching emotional moments as well as moments that put a smile on my face, this was an awesome read that deserves so much more than 5 stars!!
This boxset includes the first three books of the Wrecked series, and trust me, you don’t want to miss them. Every book in this series has become one of my most anticipated reads, and I have devoured every one as soon as they’ve hit my kindle. These books have everything that makes a story great and unforgettable.
Reckless Memories I’ve wanted Ford to have his happy ending since I read Further to Fall. And oh my gosh did he get it! I absolutely loved this friends to lovers story. Such a beautifully written story of two friends coming back together after a tragic accident ripped them apart for years. If you love romance with a bit of suspense and mystery thrown in, then this book is perfect for you! This book had me glued to it so I could find out who was behind all the horrible things happening to Ford and Belle. So freaking good! Definitely a five star read! I’m now completely hooked on this author and plan on binging everything else she has written!
Perfect Wreckage I can’t say enough great things about this book. This is a beautiful and heartfelt story of two people fighting to overcome their fear of the past and fight for their happily ever after. I freaking LOVED Crosby! He’s on my list of favorite book boyfriends ever! He’s so carefree and adventurous but also extremely compassionate when it comes to the people he cares about. I laughed out loud at the banter between him and Kenna. I love how Catherine throws a little suspense into her writing to keep us on edge and wondering what will happen next. I enjoyed this book so much and I can’t wait for Caelyn and Griffin’s story!
Wrecked Palace My first book of the new year and I’m so glad it was this one! I LOVED Griffin and Caelyn’s story so much, I didn’t want it to end. This book definitely gave me all of the feels. Parts of it were so heartbreaking I didn’t think I could take it, but the heartache Griffin and Caelyn went through made their happily ever that much sweeter in the end. Once again Catherine gave me everything I need and look for in a great story. Heartache, angst, humor, epic love story with that dash of suspense I always crave, this book had it all. I devoured this book as soon as it hit my kindle. Each book in this series has become my most anticipated read, and I’m so anxious and excited for the next one!
Reckless memories Picking up the pieces can be hard.
When tragedy strikes, you need to learn on those you love, but what happens when the person you lean on the most leaves without a word? So it's the book all Catherine Cowles fans have been demanding begging and pleading for! Ford finally gets to have his story told, and its absolutely amazing. A perfect slow burn, and you honestly won't see the end coming. You will love this book!
Perfect wreckage When you make it through hell there's always a way back
Kenna has been put through more than most people should have to deal with, but somehow she finds a way to be the best person. So when tragedy strikes again, can she make it through? This story is amazing, Kenna is so strong and Crosby is so much more than the daredevil jokester he seems to be. Sweet, caring and so compassionate. I love these two characters and Catherine brings them to life so perfectly! When you make it through hell there's always a way back

Wrecked Palace Suffering and pain are complex emotions, and each person has to find their way to deal with it. This story shows how 2 people do. This book is fantastic, two amazing characters but struggling with their own demons. They are compelling characters that make you want to know more. The pacing is a little off it hits one of its peaks then slows, but other wise its amazing. The other amazing part of this story is her siblings have an active part in the pain of their past. Where most authors would gloss over, catherine gives us an in depth look into their stories. I honestly feel Ava has a story all on her own. To conclude amazing story and I highly recommend
Catherine has a knack for romantic suspense like no other. She pulls you into her world and keeps you there with every word.
Reckless Memories: Ford and Bell are both broken and they hold the pieces to heal each other. The question is, will the pieces fall together and they get the HEA they sooo deserve. It was heartbreaking and beautiful to watch them come together and heal all the broken pieces. Masterfully written with heartbreak, suspense, romance all weaved together.
Perfect Wreckage: Holy cow!!!! Catherine blew me away with her words in this story. Several times I wanted to throttle Grant but Karma took care of that. My heart hurt so much for Kenna and all that she had been through. Catherine always adds just that right amount of suspense in her writing and it keeps me turning the pages faster and faster. I couldn't put the book down. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Wrecked Palace: Catherine does romantic suspense with the best of them. I absolutely adored Griffin and Caelyn. Griffin is full of scowls, grunts, one word answers and keeps primarily to himself. Caelyn is trying to keep her head above water while taking care of her 3 siblings. Will, Ava and Mia are really the starts of the show thorough. Will is the string, quiet type who is really trying to be the man of the family. Ava is the quiet, reserved reader who also sees and feels everything. Mia is a glitter rainbow who loves gymnastics and her own personal “Giant” Griffin. While they all have been through their own trauma, they managed to build trust amongst each other and create a tight family unit while fighting off whoever has it out for Caelyn and the kids. Griffin and Caelyn’s story was everything I love about Catherine’s writing. It was filled with suspense, heartache, romance, a strong family bond. If I could give it 10 stars I would!!!
If you are looking for a great series, romantic suspense, heartbreak and small town feels, this is the series for you!!!
RECKLESS MEMORIES Catherine writes an emotional book. One full of big feelings that just won’t leave Bell and Ford alone. She unfolds how these two have been connected since childhood, sharing a bond that no one else could. BUT there is someone out to destroy their second chance and they have to shoulder the hits one after the other. I loved how we really got a sense of who they are and where they fit in the tight knit community of Anchor Island. This has the perfect balance of angst, suspense and of course steam. Fun times on a desk? Yes please and thank you.
PERFECT WRECKAGE Catherine continued to draw me into Anchor Island and its close-knit community with the second book. I almost felt like a resident, understanding the intricacies of island life. The cover of this book really embodies Catherine’s writing so perfectly. She’s like an artist, telling us the story as she fills the pages with her words. A painter, colouring the picture for us all to enjoy. She’s most definitely an emotional writer. I felt Kenna’s pain like it was my own, but I also felt the protectiveness Crosby had for her and their love blossoming and growing in strength. Along with the great story there is heat too. This book has it all.
WRECKED PALACE This story not only has the emotional pull but there is a little suspense too. I was trying to guess the whole time who was behind the strange and disturbing notes and Catherine keeps you guessing right till the end. She writes children who feel real and say the cutest and funniest things. You can’t help but be sucked into Caelyn and Griffin’s journey and be swept up in the stolen moments and fierce protectiveness that both Caelyn and Griffin have for the kids.
The narration on all three books was stellar. These seasoned narrators gave us all the sides of the characters and helped us to feel all the feelings.
A steal of an audiobook collection. Highly recommend.
Catherine Cowles took me on a unforgettable journey through Anchor Island with these books. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest starting from book one as the characters are entwined.
Reckless Memories: Catherine Cowles has done it again. I give this book a 5+ heartwarming stars for Reckless Memories as it had my emotions in a tight hold as Ford and Isabelle reconnect and heal together from their shared past. This friends to estranged best friends to lovers romance will have you believing in second chances, the power of healing and love. The author has penned such a heartfelt romance that will have you fully invested in the journey the couple go through. They learn to mourn the loss of the past and the one they loved unconditionally. This is a book that you definitely need to read! Perfect Wreckage: Catherine Cowles penned a captivating, heartwarming, small town romance. Crosby’s easy-going nature and Kenna’s closed off personality would make you believe that they would clash. But, they balanced each other well. They brought out the best in eachother and helped tear down the walls lining their heart. Two souls broken and hurt from previous relationships found love when they weren’t looking for it. I was smitten with Crosby and was invested in their journey from the opening pages. This is another fantastic read by Catherine Cowles. Wrecked Palace: Each time Catherine Cowles release a book in this series she seems to one up herself. This is hands down my favorite in the series and I couldn’t put it down. Caelyn and Griffin gave me the warm fuzzies. They were each others rock. I adored the chemistry between them and loved how he was with the kids. This is a must read and the author did not disappoint. A five plus star small romance that I devoured.
Catherine Cowles had me all over the place with emotions. This book was everything! I loved the way Bell was with Ford and how she forgave him but he did have to earn her trust. Bell and Ford had a best friend relationship for most of her childhood. After some unforeseen circumstances Bell and Ford finally get together. I won’t say what happens because it all part of the suspense. It was an emotionally charged story they left me wanting to know more about the other characters. Looking forward to the next book.
Perfectly Wreckage
Perfect wreckage was just perfect! Catherine is automatically a one click author for me. She never disappoints. Kenna and Crosby were just perfect for each other. Kenna had so much heartache and grief I honestly didn’t know if she would come around. I won’t give any more away because you have to read the book. Oh but she did once Crosby got into her head. They both have had some problems with past relationships that really had a strong hold on them and once they started to trust it became wonderful to sit back and watch. Then of course the side characters were fantastic and oh how I loved Zoe. Once more Catherine outdid herself with this book. Perfect Wreckage was just perfect.
Wrecked Palace
This is the 3rd book in the wrecked series. Every time I get to read a new books of hers I just know it’s gonna one up the one before. This one did now fail it wrecked me in the most beautiful way. If you love a grumpy, broody hero and a heroine with a heart of gold then you will love this one. Caelyn is raising her 3 siblings and just trying to get by. Griffen has had an emotionally hard past and is having a hard time letting it go. But when Caelyn and Griffen start a friendship things just start to help them both move forward. It’s a slow burn small town romance at its finest.
3 gorgeous books in one!! I mean you just can't go wrong with this set. First, you have Reckless Memories and get to meet Bell & Ford who are just one of my favorite second-chance romance couples. Which is one of my favorite types of books to read. I looked back at my review from Reckless Memories and this is still true "I was so excited to begin this series. I absolutely loved Catherine's Sutter Lake series so I knew this one had to be amazing too. I wasn't wrong :) "
Next, you get Perfect Wreckage with Kenna & Crosby. They bring all the emotions and I loved their amazing chemistry. In my opinion the most sizzling chemistry of this series.
Last but in no way least Wrecked Palace oh this book I just can't say enough about it. Well at least that I haven't already said haha. I read my review back for this one and just yes... so a quick review recap.
"Wrecked Palace is the third book that we get to visit Anchor Island. It's already full of fantastic characters, but In Wrecked Palace we have my favorite broody hero that I’ve been waiting anxiously for.
Griffin and Caelyn tore at my heart, as I knew they would. Catherine is extremely gifted in making you feel like you are in fact visiting her small town and getting to know all your neighbors. I LOVE THAT!!
Griffin and Caelyn are wonderful together. Griffin’s story really got to me. It was so emotional to read of his heartache. But that’s what made it so wonderful to see his story progress when Caelyn entered his life. She is such a strong character. I have tremendous respect for what she did for the “tiny terrors”. I'm such a sucker for a story with adorable kids. Griffin’s relationship with each of them was so special. It made all the feelings come. Terrific book!!!"
I highly recommend this set. It truly has it all. Doing a reread now and this time with audible... *sigh*
Just wow. I had this book consumed the first day, and 50% through I realized I was going to be buying the rest of the series and Ms. Cowls was forever going to be a "one Click Author" I loved everything about this book. The mystery, the connection between characters, the turmoil and self loathing that happens. All the feels!! LOVED IT.
BOOK 2: Perfect Wreckage
Umm hello Crosby! He was my favorite. I loved his personality and how he balanced out Kenna. Seeing Kenna come alive was magical. She deserved that more than anything. Kenna was not my favorite out of the friends group. It took me a minute to fully appreciate her, but once I did. She was fantastic. (Do not get me wrong! I understand why Kenna was the way she is) I struggled with her but I also understood why Kenna's character was more difficult to love. I think that 8s why Crosby was my favorite! Reas the book. Then you'll understand 🙂
Book 3: Wrecked Palace
By far my favorite out of this series. And I loved the first book. Even Griffin slightly overshadowed Crosby (see above review)
This book was amazing!! AmAZIng!!!! I had a really hard time putting it down. Much like the first book it was consumed and very quickly. Caelyn was a sweet and very understanding person. I wish I could be more like this character. The pull that she has, People are drawn to her. Griffin... Oh my heart. I feel for this man. Yet watching him come out of his shell and how accepting Caelyn's siblings are. I love it. How Mia called him her magic giant. So sweet. Loved. loved, loved this book!!
I also have the e- book collections in this series as well. (The first 3 books) I bounced between reading and listening. The narrators were chefs kiss!! Loved them!!!
