Another excellent read from David Robbins. A group of feuders show up in the Rocky Mountains and try to take the home and lives of Nate King's friends. It doesn't go well for them.

The first book I've read by David Robbins, at least that I know of. I know he's written under a bunch of pseudonyms so I might have read other works by him. This one was an excellent book, though, and I'm definitely going to read a lot more by this author. Not only did he tell a good story, but he did it with some artistic flourish. The writing here, and by that I mean the crafting of the sentences and paragraphs and scenes, is really well done and adds to the pleasure of the tale. I highly recommend this book. One of the best westerns I've read in a long time.

For the last twenty years, the Shannon-Harkey feud had been on hold. The patriarchs of the clans had a chance meeting on neutral ground and had a talk, both realizing they were tired of killing and they didn't even know the reasons why.

That was over now.

Young Scarlet Shannon had slipped into Harkey territory to pick blackberries, believing she could outrun any Harkey. She didn't count on it being seven males who found her.

She crawled home, raped, and savagely beaten.

Her Pa and his two brothers rode over to the home of Ezriah Harkey, head of the clan, to see about justice. They never returned, murdered and the bodies hidden.

They Harkeys thought it was over.

They didn't reckon with sixteen year old Chace Shannon. Chace was different from the rest of his family. He hated farming and had killed a man at eleven, a drunk he'd caught trying to rape his identical twin sister.

Though young, Chace set out to avenge his older sister's brutalization and he wasn't above using whatever means necessary to learn the identity of the seven Harkeys that had started it.

And hunt them down.

I've enjoyed listening to these episodes, up until now. At 34%, I have listened to as much as I can stomach.

This has me wondering if I want to listen to any more.

This book is about a feud between the Harkey clan and the Shannon clan. Chase Shannon sets out for revenge after the brutal rape of his older sister by the Harkeys. To say I enjoyed this book would be an understatement--I loved it! "Blood Feud" is a double wow, which means it's as good as it gets! The good news is that there is going to be two more books in this series. Can't wait!! Read and enjoy!

Blood Feud by David Robbins moved along at a good pace and kept my interest because Chace was such an interesting character. It is is full of killing, a shoot-em up book about family loyalty, revenge, and hate. My favorite part was when Chace fled to Galveston, Texas and took over the hawking business from Tunk to help the kids which showed he was kind-hearted in spite of being a killer. I did like the ending!

If you like melodramatic westerns (I think most of them are) then this is a good book. Everything is a bit over the top and pretty black and white.

I read this while sitting on the beach, where it was enjoyable and very readable.
