When I saved her mother’s life, I didn’t do it with my own money. I took out a debt. Now I have to go back to my old life.
I have certain skills that people are willing to pay a lot of money for. Everything has a price, and Jacqueline was worth it. But what happens when I make mistakes? What happens when the debt I have to pay becomes too great and the darkness that envelops me becomes too much?
From bestselling author Charlotte Byrd comes an intense romance about debts, lies and secrets and the extent to which people go for love.
A letter arrives. It was not an accident. It was murder. But who did it? Why? The cops think it’s a false lead. There’s no other evidence, but I have to do everything to find out the truth. My brother’s death is no longer a tragedy to get over, but a wrong to put right. It becomes my obsession. What happens when I start to uncover the lies?
Dark Sins is the third novel in the Dark Intentions series. It is a dark romance/romantic suspense about debt, lies, wealth, crime and family bonds. There is no cheating.

BLACK EDGE Series (5 books!)
Mr. Black bought me at a secret auction on his yacht. I’ve never done anything like this before. What happens when one night isn’t enough?
Now I have to ask myself the question, is Charlotte Byrd about to pull me into a fourth book? Is it worth it?
At this point, I am starting to dislike all the characters. I also realise that I don't know them. Not one of them!
Almost everyone is quick to anger, with the exception of Marguerite and Adele. Marguerite seems to be the Cinderella of this story and Adele is too much of a lady for this behaviour.
It's just random unexplained screaming and events. It also seems that Jacqueline and Allison's emotions and decisions live in their vagina.
For those who hate when characters get together and can't see anyone else, then you will love Jacqueline. Doesn't matter if it's her high school sweetheart who cheated on her. She is down for whatever!
I am also waiting on her and Allison to realise that they aren't best friends. They are two people who occasionally tolerate each other because no one else would probably put up with their behaviour, and they will sleep with any good looking guy who looks in their direction or buy them a drink.
It's like living with a set of people who slowly start to show their bad qualities over the time of your lease. Just letting their buttons open and resting their dirty feet on the coffee table.
Someone explain to me what it means to be rich! Please! Because Dante drives a Maserati, lives in a penthouse in the clouds that's as modern as they get in the middle of one of the most expensive cities to live and seems to have a job that should pay millions between his salary and the sale of the companies he invested in...but he's unable to find $350,000 and has to turn to a life of crime?
Now, I don't even know how to unpack Lincoln or the double life the men of this family lead/led.
But let me start with... How? Why? Wtf?
This is so out of the left-field that it isn't even in the stadium. Like wtf!
... and making them a modern-day version of Robin Hood doesn't help either.
I am about at my neck over Jacqueline. She gets all that she wants and she pisses it away and nothing irks me more than when GROWN FOLKS break up every five minutes.
Too much is going on. Too much with no direction and I am somehow still bored.
The male lead character is now very unappealing to me, the way he is chasing for bones at everybody door and I don't even feel like these are the characters we met in book one. The sex seems to also be getting more uninspiring. More routine.
While growth is important in a story, WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? And more importantly, where are we going and WHY?!?
Before we begin let me just say that if you have not read the previous two books this review will mean nothing. That being said book three in the Dark Intentions series begins to reveal some of the ongoing mystery behind Dante and his secrets. It also ends with a hint of what I have been expecting regarding Jacqueline's brother. Ms. Byrd does a good job of revealing just enough information to keep me hooked on the series. Lucky for me I have the next book and can continue on the ride. Usually I love the characters, especially the male, but this book lowers my like of Dante. His revelations of his past is totally unexpected for me and I don't know if he can come back from that. Meanwhile, Jacqueline is an ingrate and needs to be put in her place. Het reaction to Dante's graciousness was not what I would have thought. The other characters leave very little to like except for Marguerite, Dante's sister-in-law. Onward. Thank you to the author with providing me with this freebie. My opinions are freely given.
The rollercoaster that is Dante and Jacqueline is more and more intense. So much has been broken between these two it’s hard to know what will happen next
These characters are digging themselves into far more holes than anyone could even imagine and there are parts to this story that we are still in the dark about. We ended the last book with the idea that Michael’s death wasn’t an accident and we somehow know that Dante was involved, so….this book we hope to get resolution. Well, we do not, but I guess that’s how an author keeps us engaged for the next book!
This third book is a ROLLER COASTER of emotions. We watch how Dante and Jacqueline get closer and how they find their rhythm. And at the same time we know the other shoe will drop. We watch how Jacqueline finds her footing as a woman with a motivation. She’s trying to get a job, she’s back at school, and she’s trying to move on with her life. She and her re-roommate Allison get closer together and have found their own way to make like into something new and great. They end up on a weekend trip to the Hamptons that changes their lives yet again.
Allison find a man that redirects her trajectory and everyone’s skeptical of what this means. We don’t know this man and we don’t know what it’s going to mean for her in the future. Then we see Jacqueline and Dante reunite after going their separate ways, and we see what that means as well. Do they find themselves back in a place where they are happy or are there too many lies between them to get back on track?
Well, we all know that they have a connection that doesn’t make sense, so, we know that they will find their flow. At the detriment to many other things, but oh well.
In this story, we see what Dante has to do to survive. We watch how his mom realizes that he’s taken money from his trust fund and how she wants it back in a month since she’s not one to fool around with money. We learn that he and his brother and father have done less than savory things to make money in the past and Dante is forced back into that life in order to get the money that he needs to return it to his mom. Problem is that once he’s back in that world, he’s going to get pulled in even more and that’s what we see at the end of this book. We don’t know the long term implications, but i’m sure we’ll see it play out in book 4.
While this is all happening, we know that Dante is still uncertain about an investment that he made via his company with Vasko and has this plan to set Jacqueline up as a spy in the company. She gets the job, moves out to Seattle to work there and many many alarm bells go off for us. Vasko digs into her background and realizes that she’s not what she seems so that puts him on alert. Jacqueline reconnects with someone from her past at potentially the worst time that blows things up for her again in her personal life and we’re left upside down again.
What does all this mean for Jacqueline in her life? will she be safe in her new job or does she need to watch her back? are things over for her and Dante forever, and is he even safe with his father and brother? What about Allison and her new man? how does this all factor into the grand scheme of things?
DARK SINS is the third instalment in Charlotte Byrd’s contemporary, adult DARK INTENTIONS dark, romantic, suspense series. DARK SINS is the continuing story of businessman Dante Langston, and receptionist/ journalism major Jacqueline Archer’s story line. DARK SINS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book one DARK REDEMPTION
NOTE: If you have not read book one and two, there may be spoilers in my review.
SOME BACKGROUND: Jacqueline Archer’s mother needed a life saving procedure, and our heroine needed a quick influx of cash. On the recommendation of her best friend Allison, Jacqueline applies for an exclusive membership to the $ex club Redemption, where she will meet businessman Dante Langston. This is their story.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Dante and Jacqueline) following several paths, DARK SINS picks up immediately after the events of Dark Redemption wherein Jacqueline and Dante have reunited in the Hampton’s, and the demons from Dante’s past begin to make a reappearance but all is not well in Dante’s life, when his mother, brother and estranged father make demands that Dante struggles to commit. As Dante continues to battle with a questionable business account, Jacqueline offers to go ‘undercover’ in an effort to find information about the who, what and why. While in Seattle interviewing for the job, Jacqueline reconnects with an old flame that pushes Dante out of her life.
Meanwhile, an anonymous letter addressed to Jacqueline’s mother claims Jacqueline’s brother Michael’s death was no accident, and our heroine and mother are hoping for the police to reopen the investigation but secrets and lies are about to reveal more than anyone could have ever imagined.
DARK SINS is a revealing and haunting addition to the Dark Intentions series. Charlotte Byrd pulls the reader into a world of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control. The fast paced, character driven premise is gripping and intriguing; the characters are edgy but flawed. DARK SINS ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
I am trying to wrap my mind around what happened in that cliffhanger! This is the third book of Dark Intentions series and you must read the other two books. This lusciously dark and wickedly enticing read grabbed me by the throat and never let go. This story is an emotional rollercoaster as we ride every high and hit the withdrawal symptoms that the characters endures. I was totally captivated by Dante and Jacqueline, and their twisted and intense tale had me firmly seized in its consuming clutches. What can I say, Dante and Jacqueline are full of surprises—I was flabbergasted with the unexpected revelations that happened. As the secrets unfold, the masks that they hold in place slip off notwithstanding being tortured and broken, they seemed perfect for each other…until they weren’t. The road to their happiness seems wrought with heartache, secrets, lies, debt, crime, and family bonds with drama. The angst was intense. So much came from them, but could their love be broken? Jacqueline can’t get past Dante breaking up with her. Is Dante’s anger and blame misplaced? The chemistry between Dante and Jacqueline is undeniable. What happened and what’s next? Well, read this amazing story and find out—you won’t regret it! There are several twists and turns within the story that will tempt the characters in ways they could not have never envisioned. With a flawless prose, Charlotte Byrd has constructed a masterpiece that will lure you into the wee hours and beyond that you will not be able to put this book down. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is book three in The Dark Intentions Series and it continues Dante and Jaqueline's story. When Jaqueline received a phone call from her mother saying that she has a letter that says her brother Michael was murdered and didn't die in a car accident like they thought Jaqueline is determined to find out who sent the letter and what does it mean. Dante has so many secrets and a big one is about Jaqueline's brother but he knows that if she finds out about it be will loose her and as he is in love with her he is not willing to take that chance and on top of that he needs to get the money to pay back what he borrowed and that comes with its own complications and danger. As things come to light about Dante and Michael knowing each other What other secrets are going to come out and throw in Dante's father and everyone is in grave danger. Omg I couldn't put this book down as it was so addictive and dark with lots of twist and turns and surprises and what another cliff hanger ending leaving you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next book to see what will happen next. Just remember that this book is not a standalone one and you will need to read right from book one to get all the background history. Charlotte Byrd is an amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading and you will definitely not be disappointed.
WOW!! Dark Sins by Charlotte Byrd is book 3 in this gripping Dark Intentions Series that is a phenomenal , dark passionate love story full of mystery, secrets, suspense and intrigue that will keep you on edge!
Dante and Jacqueline's twisted love story is full of passion and steam but will become more complicated as the story continues. Jacqueline and Dante are working together trying to get answers about her brother Michael's death regarding a mysterious letter sent to her mother indicating Michael was murdered. How much does Dante know about Michael's death and does he know who the murder is and what part did Michael play in this mystery? Will he lose Jacqueline when she learns he knew what happened to Michael? What danger does all of his secrets represent to the ones he loves if he is forced to go back to the life he is ashamed of? Will Jacqueline's job opportunity with Mr. Valko help Dante or cause more problems. Dante now makes a decision to protect her from the danger that is coming and what part does his father play in this story? This complex compelling tale had so many twists and turns leaving us blind sided with a twisted ending that is intense and emotional as we now have to wait for the next installment in this dark tale of lies, danger and betrayals by Charlotte Byrd, the Queen of dark romance!
WELL, this did not disappoint. The story goes through some extreme twists and turns that bring trouble and danger. One thing about Jacqueline that I am beginning to dislike is that she goes from 0 - 90 in seconds flat when she gets emotional and opens mouth inserts foot. She seems rational and sensible except when it comes to Dante, Michael or her mother. She denies the truth of a situation by pretending it was not what it was. Then aftermath of the results of her actions which leaves her alone and forsaken, she contemplates and realizes Dante or Allison or her mother were right and she was wrong. This seems to be a characteristic played throughout the three books so far. Dante's secrets of how he paid for Jacqueline's mother's treatment is now due. What he decides to do to get the money to pay back what he borrowed took me quite by surprise. It was like slamming into a brick wall never expecting it to be there. Now the ending of the book was shocking. Sargent Mallory called Jacqueline about Michael's case and revealing some blindsiding jaw-dropping and horrifying news. I look forward to the fourth book. This is a must read. I highly recommend it.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Page-turner Scary Steamy Twisted Unpredictable
OMG when you think this series cant get any better it does ten fold!
Dante has a lot of secrets, some he will never be able to tell Jacqueline, the other life he lives, the one that he is ashamed of and haunts him, but he can never tell her for her own safety.
After going for the Interview in Seattle, Jacqueline bumps into her first love Noah, and they go out for dinner, when they get back to her hotel she receives some bad news and he comforts her, not knowing that Dante is watching them, they have a huge argument and Dante takes the opportunity to end things to save her, but has he?
There is so much going on in this book that I can't reveal, but I can tell you one thing, it keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting more......I could have cried when it came to the end as I really need more.....absolutely brilliant series!
This book picks up where book two left off. Dante & Jacqueline and her mother are now looking into her brother’s care accident that may not be an accident. She also has to go for an interview in Seattle for a new job, that will also help Dante out finding what’s going on with that company. She does get the job. In the meantime, Dante and Jacqueline break up. Then, Jacqueline meets her ex from high school. Wow, there’s so much going on in this story. There’s mystery and darkness and each one has their pasts; his much worse than hers. There’s anticipation with a few story lines going on at once. It’s a terrific book and series with steam between the characters. An then, there’s a cliffhanger, too. Gee, I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens on all ends. I highly recommend this series. Please read in order.
This is the third entry in this tempting series and you must read all these books and in order. This series is intense. Rich darkness, stunning twists, anxiety inducing drama, sizzling heat, raw emotions and nerve-wracking suspense are woven into a complex and compelling tale that snares you in its sticky web and refuses to let go. If you are like me, you will find yourself perched firmly on the edge, desperately anticipating the next turn headed your way or trying to figure out the next secret before the revelation can blindside you. Regardless, trust me when I tell you that the cliffy headed your way will leave you floored! Can't wait for the next entry in this addictive series. This is my volitional, frank review.
Dante and Jacqueline have many obstacles to overcome in their relationship like trust, honesty and forgiveness. We pick up where we left off with the letter about Michael's death. Dante is hiding something and she knows it, but what? He knows something that he’s keeping to himself, but for how long before it blows up in his face. He knows they shouldn’t be together and if she finds out that he and her brother were friends and he’s kept that from her, how will she react? Misunderstandings and lies creep up between them and when Dante sees an out he takes it knowing he’s in the wrong. So many secrets, misunderstandings and lies and that just leaves more questions to be answered. Another great read in this series.
The suspense of this story is wonderful. It keeps your mind wondering what is coming next with Dante and Jacqueline. There are so many twist and turns with this story, however the biggest shock was what Dante did I real life. His father, Lincoln and Dante have been in the business as professional hitman. The father is now in trouble that may affect everyone who is associated with them. To make matters worse Jacqueline finds out from the police that her brother’s death is in question and is seen in a picture with Dante. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Charlotte Byrd is a wonderful writer, not reading her books you miss out on a wonderful book series. This is my ARC review for this book.
Book 3 in the Dark Intentions series is another emotional roller coaster ride. I’m So loving Dante and Jacqueline’s story. Their chemistry is undeniable. There are so many twists to keep me flipping pages. Drama, secrets, lies, and suspense aplenty. You need to read the first two books, in order, to understand what’s happening. This series is awesome. *this honest review is based on a complimentary copy from the author*
4.5 Stars!! This is the third book in the Dark Intentions series and it does not disappoint. There is tons of drama and intrigue that keeps you reading to the end. We learn some additional info that is just wow. This story has great characters and a story line that doesn't quit. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together in the last book!

So many Twists and Turns!! Every page I read pulled me in deeper and deeper. There were so many twists and turns that I held my breath throughout the whole story. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment. So much to the story that still needs to be resolved. I also love the side story with Allison and Richard. You will not be disappointed with the development of this story.
This is a captivating story with twist and turns that plays with your emotions as the main characters endure anguish, lies, debt, breakups but the chemistry between them is undeniable. Phenomenal story! Characters that you can feel in your heart. A storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat and glued to your kindle! For me it was a love-hate deal as the main characters face the harsh reality. A must read. Grab your copy today and start reading. Enjoy happy reading 📚
Dark Sins continues the intriguing story of Jacqueline and Dante as more secrets are revealed. Jacqueline finds more information about Dante as she seeks answers about the death of her brother, Michael. Dante is drawn back into his dark past. This well written book with its complex storyline has a jaw dropping cliffhanger. The next book in the series is Dark Temptation.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I’ve listened to the second and now this third book in the series. The events of Dark Sins are entirely independent of the previous books, and it could be listened to as a stand alone. I liked that the two books I listened to were different from each other so there is variety in the series.
Jamie Kersey and Kenneth Elliott did a great job with the narration and I would listen to both of them again.
I received a copy of this book at my request, and the opinions here are my own.
This is the 3rd book in the series and I do recommend reading them in order. Dante and Jacqueline’s story continues and the chemistry is sizzling. The story is dark and twisted with loads of drama, suspense and steam. I can’t wait until the next book when more secrets will be revealed. I loved it!
Oh man the secrets I've learned in this 3rd book causes the hair on the back of my neck to stand straight up it's phenomenal. This series is to die for. The cliffhanger shocked me to my core and now I'm pondering the events yet to come.
The earlier books were good but this one was equally amazing, so many thing going on and then the ending! You knew at point this was going to come up but whoa! Need the next book like Now! 😁
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Well I’m so glad I stuck with this series. The first two books were a very very slow build up and if I hadn’t read this authors books before I would have given up. The story is finally heating up in this book and all the secrets are coming out. Can’t wait to see what happens
Dante & Jacqueline's journey continues. This is the third installment & must be read in order. It was a roller coaster of a series. I got a copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my review.
