John Baldoni’s latest book, “Grace Notes: Leading in an Upside-Down World,” is a compilation of his honest and insightful reflections during the coronavirus pandemic that acknowledge the emotions being felt and the challenges being faced and then offer advice for leading under those circumstances. He addresses a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, connection, gratitude, humor, isolation, optimism, patience, resilience, self-care, self-doubt, and trust, to name just a few. Each reflection is a quick read, making it ideal for busy managers suffering from time poverty. But don’t rush through them. To get the most benefit, read one reflection a day then think about how it applies to your context and leadership. Better yet, write down in a journal what you’re learning from one of America’s top leadership advisors. Doing so, will calm you and guide you to become a more effective leader during turbulent seasons when grounded leaders are what people especially need. I highly recommend this book.
