Lee James writes stories of hope and redemption. Whether it's fantasy, mystery or historical fiction, her beautifully awkward characters traverse a dark labyrinth on their journey to a hopeful end.

She is vehement about the importance of creating and preserving the sanctity of the written word. In that vein, she supports literacy programs and her local libraries.

Most importantly, she supports her fellow writers. When not writing, she enjoys photography, watching The Simpsons, and of course, reading.

Azriel by Lee James is an inciting look at Watchmen and Women of the Mists who guard the forbidden Garden of Eden. Demons who were fallen Angels. Family. What is your family exactly? What is home? These questions are dived into for Bree as she ventures into the world of Azriel. With the hints of the Biblical story, it really captured my attention. Plenty of action. Plenty of what is truth and what is not. Some of my favorite parts of a thriller or suspense is when the author allows the reader to see the thoughts and actions of the bad guys. James does that wonderfully. It is a wonderful to lift the veil and allow the readers to understand and empathize with the villain's perspective. It is usually my favorite part of the novel. Of course, every novel needs some type of romance in the story. There is hints of one, but it really is not that important to the whole story. If readers enjoy suspense, Biblical fiction, and / or fantasy, Azriel by Lee James nicely presents all three in a captivating way that enthralled this reader. I anxiously await the next installment.

I received a complimentary copy of Azriel by Lee James through Love2ReadLove2Write Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

After finishing reading Azriel, which I would consider to be a solid, clean NA Allegorical Fantasy, my first thought was: man, we need more NA books! Books with stories of entering adulthood, finding your purpose, finding friendships, facing the struggles that come with living on your own. And Azriel handled the NA genre really well!

Pixie and I thoroughly enjoyed this slow-burn fantasy world that was full of culture and rich history! We found ourselves rooting for the Watchmen, hoping our favorite characters would survive (which I'm glad my favorites did), and at the end, I was left wondering who I could trust!

I definitely want more! Lee James did an excellent job crafting such an organic world, bringing together Biblical and cultural elements seamlessly! Definitely one of my favorite titles from L2L2 publishing so far.

Now for the content disclosure: the violence is quite intense at points, especially when fighting the more demonic creatures in this world, but not too intense. The language is clean. There are themes of lust, adultery, and fornication presented, but no sex is shown on screen and the theme of lust is handled very carefully. This is an allegory at it's heart, so the Garden of Eden is present, and the diety of the story is named Yahweh, so if seeing the name of God used in fiction like this makes you spiritually uncomfortable, this might not be the right book for you. Other themes like abuse, guilt-trips, deception, and manipulation are also present. For these reasons, I give this book a clean PG-13 rating overall.

If what you're looking for is an exciting NA Allegorical Fantasy with a rich cast of characters and an even richer culture, then this is definitely the book for you!

Action and political intrigue abound in this high fantasy starring a Studio Ghibli warrior princess.
To date, it is the most original — while also coherent and entertaining — take on the Garden of Eden and Christian cosmology I’ve ever read. I’m proud to have this on my shelf.
