A good story with a few down points but worth spoiling the book for.

An entertaining mystery with nice historical details, particularly with the inclusion of actual historical people and the Elephant Gang. Kit's aunt and her friend are a great team, especially when teamed up with Mary, Kit's new fiancee. Of course, Kit and Mary have nice chemistry. Mary promises to be a good partner in future investigations.

This one was silly. No clear reason for the crimes just story for the sake of it. Can't be bothered with the rest of the series

I thoroughly enjoy every one of the Characters!

I really love this series of books, especially the characters! I hated for each book to end. I’m always left wanting to know more of what happened to the characters - I totally could see a few of them spinning off into their own series as well, like Agatha & Betty or Raven Hadleigh just from this book. I also want to know more about Henry...and Ida, and of course there’s Spunky!

I only have one tiny criticism and I’m sure it has nothing to do with the author in any way whatsoever - my comment has to do with either editing or formatting. The books can be challenging to read sometimes due to the lack of spacing between words & sentences. On almost every page there chunks of text that run on together. This isn’t a deal breaker by any means, the books are wonderful and common sense rules. I just happen to be an editor and these kinds of things jump off the page at me and slow my reading down. The writing, wit & characters are so enjoyable, it’s a shame to have anything detract from the reading of a great book.

I highly recommend this author & this series!

A ripping yarn

This is the third Lord Aston book I’ve read and each has been excellent. Each time I have gone straight on to read the next. Like the others, this story is full of surprises and the plot has lots of twists and turns - can’t wait to read the next.

The Phantom: Phan-tastic!

I thoroughly enjoyed “The Phantom” by Jack Murray. As you can read from the book description, this is Book 3 in the Lord Kit Aston 1920’s Crime Thriller Series.
In my opinion, Mr Murray, the Author, just gets better and better!
This story has a lot of components. (Many Characters, many separate plots.) At one point, I couldn’t figure what one plot had to do with the others. That said, Mr Murray does a very impressive job of pulling all of the separate pieces together.
I won’t give spoilers or tell more about story; instead, I’ll say this: if you enjoy 1920’s Crime / Thrillers, why not try the Lord Kit Aston series? I can’t wait to find out what ‘mischief’ Kit (and his friends) gets up to!

I thought this entry in the series was rather disappointing. While I enjoyed most of the characters the plot was lacking for me. Two older aunts were introduced but I was unable to warm up to them. The sub plot involving the brothers Ryan and the gangsters seemed contrived and mostly unnecessary. And I'm still not sure I understand the "why" at the end of the book even though I read it a couple of times. Finally, the more than usual number of editing errors were distracting as well as the overuse of run on sentences. This book was not up to the high standards set by the first two books. As a result, I'm not sure I'll be continuing with the series.

A decidedly enjoyable read. This was as much fun as the first three.

This one was as much fun as the first three. Really like the ever widening cast of characters with the random historical figures. That said editing is needed. It’s a bit disconcerting when you find yourself rereading a sentence only to discover the word you think should be there is misspelled or just missing.

Edit this book!

The characters and plot were interesting but this book needs some serious editing! Grammar and punctuation errors abound and were very distracting. Also, character's titles are wrongly used. For example, Mary Cavendish is Lady Mary, not Lady Cavendish. There are just too many errors of all kinds for me to enjoy the storyline.

Excellent Mystery!

Great story, plot development well done, characters are enjoyable, and criminals are hysterical in their inability to be successful. The kidnapped baby with asthma completely destroys his abductors in the exciting chase finale! Still some editing errors to be corrected but much improved from the previous books.

Good Story with great characters.

This is the 4th book in the series and I have enjoyed each story and the building of the characters. This book also introduces new characters that are very enjoyable. I am looking forward to Kit & Mary's next adventure.

I would recommend this series to any reader who enjoys stories set in post WW1 Britain.

Good story

I I liked book 3 of the Lord Kit Aston series much better than Book 2. As usual Kit is surrounded by the usual cast of unusual characters, both high-brow and low. Two sweet old ladies keep things stirred up, The Phantom is back, Mary gets deeply involved again, and a little boy lays a big bad guy out. A very enjoyable romp!

Loved it

An interesting story and characters. The peace process following WWI is can interesting period that doesn't get a lot of attention. I enjoyed the book very much and look forward to Kit and Mary's next adventure.

The One I've Been Waiting For

Great book. Kit & Mary are a very exciting pair of detectives. When Aunt Agatha and Betty get involved, everything is just too good. I'm so glad I waded through the other books. This is a great reward.

SomIm on the 4th book in the Lord Aston series. I get so distracted by the poor editing, I vow to stop reading. However, I keep on to the next chapter.

Wonderful book

A really good book, set in the 1920's. Lord Kit and Lady Mary are on the trail of the Phantom, a jewellery thief the have help from the police, Aunt Agatha and Betty. Things are not what they seem and there is a little mayhem as usual. Well worth five stars.

Ends with a bang

Loved Aunt Agatha, Betty and the new role for Mary. The secondary story was gritty but just when it threatened to ruin the book, the stories merged, and justice, tempered with humor, won in the end. Better than the prior two books. Highly recommended.

3rd time…

This third adventure in the Lord Kit Aston series was also a hit! I liked the recurring characters and the mystery. The meeting of the two imposing aunts was epic! I also liked seeing the relationship between Kit and Mary progress. They are adorable together.

February 1920. Several jewellery robberies have occurred. But it can not be the Phantom as he is still in prison. Was he wrongly convicted or is it a copycat. Chief Inspector Jellicoe investigates. While Lord Kit and other members of his family also investigate.
An entertaining historical mystery
