A “wickedly funny” friends-to-lovers romantic comedy. Fans of Christina Lauren and Sally Thorne will swoon their way through this romp from the friend zone to forbidden love.
Harlow’s an ambitious career woman who always plays by the rules. Bishop’s a happy-go-lucky bad boy who will bend any law to save his sick sister. Why, then, did their dating app declare them a match? The man is fifty shades of wrong. Sure, he makes her laugh, but there’s more to relationships than laughter, right?
She should definitely stop texting him. Yup. Any day now.
Soon, they’re making fun of all their app matches to each other. One bad date rescue later, they’re roommates with accidental benefits.
Harlow’s having too much fun to slow down, and things only get better when she's tapped for her dream job...as long as everyone in her life passes a background check. No problem. Except Bishop is hiding a huge secret about how he pays for his sister’s cancer treatments.
Years ago, she and her husband ducked out of the 9 to 5 world and moved into a life as digital nomads. She found her voice with the support of the online fanfiction community, and once she started typing, she never looked back.
As a result, she's written most of her books in odd places, including a bus in Thailand, an off-the-grid cabin in the Sawtooth Mountains, a golf cart in a sandstorm, a rental car during a heat wave in the Mohave Desert, a century-old Creole cottage in New Orleans, and a beach in Honduras. These days, she's writing all the romance and friendship scenes her heart can hold, while working as a freelance editor and writing coach with Sanctuary Editorial.
She's currently addicted to Shadow & Bone, rock climbing, and Tillamook cheese.

The thing about Michelle Hazen's books is that the experience of reading them is so far superior to real life, they're IMPOSSIBLE to put down. And this one is just out of this world in that department. It's orchestrated so that every moment feels amazing: the tingly flirtation, the utterly heart-melting romance...even the dark moments crack your heart open in ways you didn't know you wanted and needed. I can't explain it.
Honestly, that contrast is what blows my mind so hard: that this book can be SO indulgently fluffy and fun and delightful and also lean straight into the dark staring-into-the-abyss "this is the human condition" moments, where the stakes are SO REAL. It's a super bubbly romance full of brunch and mixed drinks and the most endearing quirkiness, and it's also...a deeply moving commentary on the American healthcare system and how our priorities and preconceived notions expose or sometimes belie our values. On the gray area of morality, perspectives on "right" and "wrong," costs that are monetary and costs that are not. Agh, this book is unbelievable.
Bishop is absolutely laugh-out-loud hysterical. He's the most endearingly protective big brother to the cutest blue-wigged 11-year-old who's sharp as a whip. I would move into one of Harlow's planned communities in a heartbeat and never ever leave (and I'd also listen to her plan communities forever; had no idea that was so fascinating). The parent/adult child relationships are so moving -- I'm just coming to realize how important this dimension is becoming to me for meaningful reading, and of all the emotional layers this book has to offer, that's the one that had me in tears. And then, the friend group is to DIE FOR; honestly, they could raffle off tickets to join Alice, Sadie, Bishop, and Harlow for brunch for millions. I'd be so in. The whole book is like a 318-page all-you-can-eat buffet of the most spectacular food and friends and feelings.
As always, Hazen's got utterly gorgeous metaphors. And as always, it's not about lovers saving or fixing each other, or even fixing themselves for each other's sake; they just have to figure out how to grow into their own hearts. Because the way those hearts want to fit together, authentically, comes through from the very start and never leaves, so the whole book -- even with all its earnest conflict and high stakes -- feels like the warmest, safest, sexiest hug. (A special "hug" is an event in there, too. Definitely read this book.)
Michelle Hazan has written a book that just checks all of my boxes. Smart, funny and sweet are three word that come to mind when I think of this story. Not to mention it is full of heart. A credit card thief falls for his victim. They’re a match made in heaven, if only they hadn’t met through the dating ap he joined using her stolen credit card.
The characters are loveable. The chemistry is off the charts. This is a couple I was rooting for from second one.
4.5 ⭐ - This is a new to me author, so I went in not knowing how I would feel. When given an ARC, it's a hit-or-miss whether or not I will even finish it because I'm kind of picky about writing styles and just plain horrible writing.
I absolutely loved this book, though. The story was a little relatable to me (since I pick some bad ones when dating), but it was also a little difficult to believe at times. The characters shined and you couldn't help but fall in love with Harlow and Bishop. Even the side characters were amazing and memorable.
The writing and flow kept me engaged and I found it hard to put the book down. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good rom-com and cannot wait for the Sam's book to come out next!
Michelle Hazen keeps getting better. Heart engulfs every character that she writes and this time around, she shows the lighter side of her personality. So You Think You're A Match is meant to be enjoyed with a smile. Harlow and Bishop may be totally wrong for each other, yet a perfect fit for this reader's heart. From laugh out loud to unpredictable drama, Hazen delivers greats stories that are temptation personified.
Between clutching my heart and snort-cackling, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough in this one-of-a-kind rom-com. Opposites don’t just attract in So You Think You’re a Match. Harlow and Bishop collide in a burst of sparks, showering the reader with their electric chemistry.
Michelle Hazen is so wickedly funny you'll think that you don't need anything more than her rapier wit. But then she goes and drops sex scenes that will make your toes curl. In the words of Bishop Riley, "Michelle, you have done me a grave disservice." I now have the book hangover of the century.
Harlow and Bishop’s story was 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗻𝘆, 𝘀𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻!
I cried, this book. Made me. Cry. Dammit! I’m still crying. Tears of sadness because life isn’t fair, tears of laughter because these two are so funny and tears of joy because they’re also so freaking sweet and their story is so wholesome!
*sighs dreamily*
Where do I begin? I feel like nothing I say would do justice. First, I loved how explosive their chemistry was right off the bat. Bishop and Harlow were so funny together and it never felt forced or faked. I was able to see the strong connection and I really appreciated they didn’t jump into a relationship right away.
Their friendship was everything, even with the secrets and hardships, they truly cared for each other and were there for one another. The progression of their relationship was beautifully written and I loved that I got to appreciate that side before the feelings developed into more. They just got along so well and understood each other.
I felt HARD for Bishop and his situation, I not only empathized with him but really hurt my heart to see him in a situation I know many people are right now. He was so sacrificial and caring. The love this guy had for his little sister was the most heartwarming! He deserved to be the happiest man and it broke me to see him struggling like that. I obviously didn’t approve of what he was doing but damn! His reasons for doing it really hurt!
I loved how despite the hurt, Harlow was the most understanding person. She showed him true love without putting herself and her self-live aside. She was so passionate and hardworking, she was a real badass and I loved how she got everything she deserved to have.
The entire plot was such a delight. All the storylines combined with an amazing cast of secondary characters formed a beautiful setting for this epic romance.
𝙎𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝? was more than a rom com, it was a story of redemption, hope, true love and second chances.
Millions of thanks to @michellehazenauthor for gifting me this paperback.
I’ve read many of Michelle Hazen’s book and have yet to be disappointed. In this book you’ve got a credit-card thief) and a city designer brought together by a dating app... an app he paid for using HER credit card number. He didn’t know this when they first met, and once he figured it out, he just couldn’t stay away. I really loved these two... things are not always as black and white as Harlow would like, a fact she is forced to face when the truth is revealed. Michelle has again written characters in a way that really brings them to life, adds quirky scenes and sexy times along with heartfelt moments that make the characters feel like family. Looking forward to reading Samwise and Allie’s story next.
You know those books that you could pick up over and over, start on any page, and it will still put an immediate smile on your face? That is So You Think You're A Match!
A friends-to-lovers rom-com with CONSTANT laughs. Probably my favorite part - Bishop is the most non-toxic-masculinity love interest I've ever read. He is warm and funny and sweet, and has absolutely nothing to prove in the "I'm a man" department. And the way he is with his little sister??? Harlow never even had a chance. And neither did I!
I read an early copy and seriously can't wait to read again. This is the go-to warm and fuzzy feel-good-read that we deserve!
This book was such a delight! I love a heroine who has no time for people's nonsense, and when you put her head-to-head with a irresistibly charming bad boy... Oh, yeah.
With sizzling chemistry, hilarious banter, and heart-tugging stakes, this story had me alternately swooning and frantically turning the pages to see how Hazen could give these characters the HEA they deserve. So You Think You're A Match truly puts both the rom and the com in rom-com.
What compliments do you pay an author like Michelle that do justice to her story telling abilities. It almost feels trite to point out that yes this is a romcom because Michelle's wonderful, wonky or poignant humor shines through every story she tells. She's a wonderful (there's that word again) observer of the absurdities and foibles of human nature and it's never been more apparent than when she turned her considerable talents to writing what she classifies as her first romcom. It's needless to say that you'll love feisty, by-the-book Harlow ( a planner/designer for a neighborhood developer who hopes to help create life worth living by designing the perfect environment for it) and her would be beau Bishop, a drop- out coder working multiple side hustles for cash he can dedicate to the co-pay for his eleven year old sister's cancer treatment (and escape government and student loan garnishing legitimate wages). Sounds like I've dropped a spoiler, but you really need just a sampler of the kind of challenges these two will face to wet your appetite for Michelle's unique and wonderful (3rd time using that word) tale. You'll laugh at Bishop's joke writing for a dating app (side hustle #2 after Uber), you'll squee at Harlow's adorable emotional awkwardness and wring your knuckles at their near misses. You not only need to set time aside for a one sitting read, but you'll find yourself scouring her back catalog for your next ebook. Trust me, every wonderful ( last time I'll use that word) book is worth your time and the price of admission!
I've been reading Michelle's work for a few years now. Let me tell you, she only keeps getting better and better with each book. I absolutely adored Harlow and Bishop's story. A few times I got so frustrated with him I wanted to hug Harlow, and other times I was rooting for those two to make it. I seriously recommend giving this book a chance since it's so wonderful. And I can't wait for Sam's book!
I'm used to Michelle Hazen's books being so soulful and emotional they touch your heart in a permanent way. This book is no different. But it's also HILARIOUS!!! Bishop is a bit tortured but also funny, smart and very sweet. Harlow is looking for a man who has his life together. But love has other plans. This is one of the best books I have ever read!! I could read about Harlow and Bishop forever! I cant wait for the next book in the series because all the supporting characters are wonderful too!
Michelle Hazen is the queen of flirty banter. I could, quite honestly, have read an entire book of their text messages. The chemistry between responsible Harlow and quicksilver Bishop is delicious and sizzling. You’ll have a smile on your face for the whole read. I loved it!
Hilarious - but more than just a fluff read. How Hazen can turn a crook into a hero is beyond me, but she does it beautifully. The characters are smart and believable, the dialogue is snappy - you won’t be able to put it down!
I enjoyed this book very much. It was sweet and hilarious. I loved Harper and Bishop’s banter. It was witty and really entertaining. They and really great chemistry together.
It's never easy to make a felon into a romantic hero, especially when the felony is ongoing, but Michelle Hazen does just that in her newest book, So You Think You're a Match. Bishop is a thief with a heart of gold that has found himself caught up in a situation that's led him to think is future is done. When he meets Harlow, who walks along the straight and narrow road, Bishop can't stay away from her, even after he realizes she's one of his marks.
I adored this book and couldn't put it down, reading it in two sessions. Hazen sense of humor shines through in So You Think You're a Match and I found myself laughing out loud, which doesn't happen very often while reading (yes, I'm a total romcom snob). But, Bishop and Harlow are delightful together, their banter witty and smart, giving readers pure joy in them being together.
That joy is needed as the book takes a serious turn, but I never stopped loving these characters. Bishop is exactly who Harlow needed, truly her perfect match. Her past experiences have left her on a path that she feels needs to be as perfect as possible. Underneath that is a woman who is a wonderful friend, compassionate, and funny. Underneath Bishop’s quick wit is a man struggling with family issues that have led him down a path he never imagined. Harlow’s sense of right and wrong are exactly what Bishop needs in order for him to do the right thing.
The supporting characters are a delight, especially Bishop’s younger sister, Daisy. Harlow’s two best friends round out the delightful cast of characters. I definitely recommend So You Think You're a Match!
Thank you to the author for an early copy in exchange for honest feedback.
What a fun and enjoyable read! I believe this is this author’s first foray into the romcom trope and I have to say she nailed it! There were so many instances where I was laughing so hard that I snorted and I reveled in the witty banter between Bishop and Harlow. These two characters, while at times seemingly opposites were just perfect together. I adored Bishop’s charming and quirky personality as well as his huge heart and I couldn’t help but love Harlow.
In a time where things seem so bleak and dark, this novel lifted my spirits and left me with a smile on my face. I truly hope that this author continues to add romcoms to her list of tropes because this truly was a delightful read!
I haven't followed this woman for 13 years for no good reason, that's for sure.
I can't begin to explain what an amazing read this was. Michelle has given me a lot of couples I've fallen in love with but Harlow and Bishop have fast become my favourite. Their easy banter and quick wit, along with refreshingly real best friend's Sadie and Alice, stole my heart.
Michelle's inclusive, diverse and realistic cast of characters really make this story and it's easy to fall in love each and every one of them. Beautifully done and so exciting to have stories from Michelle spanning different locations that take you along.
I will always love Michelle's ability to create a scenario that tests the bonds of true love, of self respect and dignity, and of humanity in general. A true test of morals and grit. She truly has a gift. Couldn't recommend it more.
This is my very first review on Good Reads. Honestly, I'm not even sure how a Copy of Michelle Hazen's book found it's way into my E-Book library. Obviously I've been an avid reader for many decades, so when I spotted the cover for So You Think You're a Match, I couldn't resist.
Have you ever opened a book and been spellbound? This book is an amazing read and was nearly impossible to put down. I basically binge read the entire book in one sitting. This is not normal for me.
Everything about this book was so "real" the characters, the settings, the emotions, the complications. Even better it wasn't all fantasy where every character was wealthy and ready to settle down. The tone was far more realistic, while being captivating and keeping me on the edge of my seat.
Okay, there is one downside to reading this book... I can't wait to read her next one!
I thought this was a pretty good read. The writing flowed well for the most part, and I liked Bishop and Harlow together. Harlow and Bishop both had their problems, but they found some relief with each other. There were times when I wanted to shake some sense into both of them, but they eventually figure it out. I liked Harlow's friends and I thought they were a great addition to the story. Bishop's little sister was also a cute side character. It takes them a little while to get there, but Bishop and Harlow do get their HEA. This wasn't a first for me from this author, and I will definitely be on the look out for what comes next! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Good humorous read. She follows all the rules and he breaks them (well breaks some.) Though he is breaking the law, he also has a very good heart. His character is what brings most of the comedy, and he, like many comedians, has a lot of self-deprecating going on. She has reasons why she always follows the rules, and it's not necessarily because she's a 'good girl.' And he has reasons why he is doing the bad things he is doing, and it's all for a good cause, so it makes him lovable even if what he is doing is illegal and could very well land him in prison. Both characters are likeable, as are the side characters. They are well developed. The story is easy to read (alternating between POVs.) It is a light-hearted read, though there is a little bit of angst.
Witty, hilarious, and heartwarming! A quick read that will definitely have you laughing. The banter and chemistry between Bishop and Harlow is off the charts. Excellent depth of character and development. The story line, although a little far fetched, is original and so real. It’s easy to relate to the characters (maybe not in actions) but in feelings and emotions. Excellent book that I highly recommend. I will definitely read more by this author. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
I found this to be a quick fun read. The characters were great and I cared about them. The bad boy who is not all bad, the strict straight laced girl who is trying to overcome her past, and friends who stand by them. There were a few spots that seemed a bet unbelievable but the characters were so charming it was easy to see past. I won't hesitate to read more by this author.
OMG, this was fantastic. I've loved Michelle Hazen as an author ever since reading Breath the Sky and Unbreak me. This book was a different style, it was very humorous. She did a great job bringing the funny. I love the premise of the story and how the H was committing credit card fraud and the h was a very straight individual. It was a storyline I hadn't read before and I really enjoyed it. Quick and light read, will definitely bring a smile and put you in a good mood.
I loved it. I've read other books by Hazen but they are of a different tone. I loved the funny, witty, lightheartedness of Harlow and Bishops' bantering, but in between, there's plenty of substance to the plot. I also loved Harlow's friends. I need friends lie this.I would definitely read more of this type of book.
This was such a fun book to read! Michelle Hazen is a master at writing characters I care about - by the time I finished this book, Bishop and Harlow felt like friends who I wish I could hang out with. Not only that, but I love how her characters always care so much about each other - and in this book, as a bonus, they are hilarious! In short, this book was enjoyable from start to finish.
Only Michelle Hazen could write a rom-com that delivers so well on romance AND comedy. She also gives us an unflinching look at the serious side of the ways even people we love and who love us can let us down.
This book requires suspending reality in a sense due to the crime Bishop commits. It was an aww he's doing it for his sister. The book could have been a little shorter had Bishop not waited to talk with his new friend. 2.75 stars
