Oh Julian Price, will anyone knock you off your narcissistic pedestal? This short origin story gives you incredible insight into the mind of a sociopath. From the blurb you don't really know what's going to happen. But from page one, the vibe is delightfully ominous.
"My fingers wrap around my steering wheel, gripping it tighter. My knuckles turn white. I’m lucky it’s dark out so Lena wouldn’t be able to see me as easily if it were daytime. But my black BMW is still somewhat recognizable, especially to someone like Lena."
The prequel gives you some answers, but creates many questions. Who is Logan if he's not cheating with Julian's gf Lena? Why did Lena have to wait several weeks before separating? Why did Julian supposedly change (according to Lena)?
That creepy vibe permeates the story front to back. Julian assumes the worse and behaves like the world's biggest douche without a care in the world. Julian thinks he's in tune with everything around him while he dissects everything Lena does. Truth is, he only thinks he's got it all under control.
The story is edited spectacularly and written with a deft touch for foreshadowing. If you didn't already guess, I'm all in. Can't wait for the next book.
