I absolutely adore Stjepan Šejić's art. I also find him a good story teller, with Harleen being one of the best "Superhero" based comics I've read in years, and what little I've seen of Sunstone also had enough depth to be impressive for such a comedic work. I also love stories with rich mythologies, so it seemed almost guaranteed that I would like this.

And indeed I did like this!

But just barely. Let's get this out of the way, this book is entirely set-up. The plot as it was described in terms of the pitch presented doesn't begin until the end. We get set-up upon set-up. Is the set-up bad? No, but it goes on and on. Will all these details prove important? Probably, but it does not make for a super compelling story. It really is one of those books that by the time I'm getting into it, it's over.

Do I suggest it? Right now, I can't really except to people who are already fans of Šejić's work. That said, I also wouldn't tell people to avoid it (unless they are offended by sexual artwork then, oh boy, stay far away). The art is fantastic as per usual (though I have to say some of the face seem a bit too similar to past characters the artist has created) and while it may be set-up, it is setting for what seems an extremely interesting tale. Maybe when more of the books are out I can give it a full recommendation, but for now, it's a solid middle ground. 3/5 stars

All the characters share the same two or three superficially beautiful faces. All the characters have the same mainstream body types. Sejic's idea of what is sexy is laughable.

And then there's the writing. The endless, eeeendless writing. A bottomless ocean of convoluted mythology, that is insanely, mind shatteringly boring.

Finally, there's a character who is indicating she probably is asexual, which another character sees as a 'challenge'. That's just embarrassing.

In short: run away! Run away!

Damn, what a disappointment. I was so excited to read more of Stjepan Sejic's work after loving Harleen so much (it's one of my favorite graphic novels of all time), and Sejic's art is so gorgeous, plus this plot seemed so interesting, I thought there was no way I would NOT enjoy this. Unfortunately, though, it was surprisingly boring and the plot is all over the place in the worst way.

I also really could have done without a panel in the prologue in which a character tells an incubus that she's asexual (in no specific terms, but it's very clear) and the incubus' response is (paraphrasing), "Oooh, a challenge!"

I dunno, the art is stunning but this wasn't for me.

This feels like a bunch of disparate ideas Sejic had and then tried to figure out how to put them all together. It's about a screw up succubus looking for a "golden contract" and a world of succubus and cupids having sex in secret. BTW, there's lots and lots of Skinemax level sex in this. Then there's this model who is unlucky in love and looking to punish herself for some reason. And there's lots of inner thoughts. So. Many. Inner. Thoughts. It's mind numbing.

For some reason, Stjepan's wife, Linda's comic, Punderworld, is set in the same universe, even though it's the antithesis of this comic. This is all graphic but unsexy sex while that comic is all sweet romance.

So I did read some of the other review before writing my own, and I have to admit I kinda see their point. I understand how this can seem like a REALLY slow - and at times uninteresting start - to a series. I think what saves it for me, is the relationship I have with the characters from following Sejic on Twitter. He has shared a lot of what is to come in the future volumes, as well as what happens under the surface of many of the characters. I do see that in this comic, and I don't think I would need all the extended lore I get from following the author to do so.

I also want to point out two things that are mentioned in other 1-star reviews:
The ''ah, a challenge'' comment regarding Ace people. I get how it can be cringe, but at the same time, we're told that Cale hasn't fulfilled his contract, which means Sejic isn't actually saying Ace people aren't real or valid, but that some people will see them as such. Sejic is, actually, saying that they are very valid, and even the top Incubus in the field can't change that.
The other is how a lot of them focus on how this is a sappich love fest - which I have no problem with - but here's also a male/male love story that is super cute compared to some of the female/female stuff.

One last disclaimer: I read this originally online when I wasn't going through a depression, and I had a vastly different experience then. I enjoyed it and wanted more. This time around, it was triggering to me on many levels, which isn't really a good thing, but does mean the author touches on some real life subject, which I greatly appreciate - in between my tears.

There, now that I got that out of the way.
The art is, as usual, gorgeous and expressive, although I have to agree with some of the other reviewers in that I would like to see a bit more diversity in bodytype. At the same time, it makes sense that this is a book about beautiful people. It's literally part of the story!
The story is slow, but it does a good job of highlighting the fault and hubris of humanity, which, as I said, I appreciate. And I love how many types of love it depicts.

With that, I now have to sit pretty and wait for book 2...

This kept going back and forth between a 3 and 4. I'd probably end up rating it around a 3.5 in the end.

See, the art is great. We all know Sejic can draw. Stunning looking characters, magic looks cool as hell, so all that works well. The characters are pretty interesting. The dialogue solid with cute moments and plenty for relationship fans. Some good sex scenes though not as expressive or shown as something like Sunstone.

but there's SO many characters. This book sets up A LOT. So much in fact some characters just didn't gel with me. I could care less about some of the "demons" in here (Not called demons). I just didn't care, I wanted to get back to the main girl.

So a bit too long and not as captivating as I hoped but still lovely to look at and when the main character is on the page, it's a lot more fun. A 3.5 out of 5.

Wow what a ride! Another sexy, fantastical story from Šejić! This one is all about succubi, cupid, and their endeavor to get mere mortals to sign onto their contracts. The problem is human relationsips and sexuality are complicated and sometimes contracts are just not able to be fulfilled as.. desired.

It's a classic story, with a house divided, with sins aplenty, and a feast for the eyes.
Excited to have seen this develop on Patreon every month and looking forward to volume 2!

I was hoping for some fun fantasy erotica, but this is only occasionally erotic and mostly stuffed with dull fantasy. Greek gods, incubi, succubi, and cupids are in some sort of competition to bind humans to sexual contracts that produce the seeds needed to grow and make ambrosia. And some fuss is made about love versus desire. Caught up in this is Lauren Thompson, a human whose life was ruined when she takes of her college braces and becomes a successful supermodel.

It felt like so much throat clearing as characters are introduced and connections made between them. Maybe things will pick up next volume. At the very least, I'll be back to check out Šejić's pretty drawings of pretty people having pretty sex. That's always worthwhile.

So I have mixed feelings about this one. There are definitely things I liked about it, but there are also things I didn’t think worked as well.

The main issue is that the majority of this graphic novel is exposition. We spend almost the entire volume setting up the story, which included some interesting worldbuilding and characters but also quite a lot of convoluted information. I was initially very interested in the story, but that interest declined as the volume progressed. Eventually, when the story began moving forward, I was again interested in the plot, but the volume concluded before anything definitive really happened. This does make me intrigued by the prospect of volume 2, but I do wish there had been a little more forward movement in terms of the plot overall.

My only other criticism relates to the art style. Don’t get me wrong. Overall, I really enjoyed the art and thought it was well done. There wasn’t much variety in it though. The character faces, particularly the females, looked similar to each other, and the body types were all mostly the same as well.

I did enjoy this volume and think the story introduced is an interesting one, so I plan to continue with the series when volume 2 is released. Now that the story is set up, I’m hoping volume 2 will have better pacing and be more engaging overall!

This read is more than just a smidge steamy. Of course, this is par for the course for Sejic, who explores both the deeply emotional and deeply sexual in much of his work. I've been a fan of his for years, and still follow on Deviant Art, Twitter, and Insta. His artwork is among some of my favorite and his storytelling is so artfully done (no pun intended).

Sejic weaves a story of cupids, who work in the service of love, and incubi/succubi, who work in the service of desire. This all works beneath the mortal world, where mortal people deal with mortal problems. What follows is a multilayered exploration of lust and infatuation, of what happens when people take love for granted or allow their desires (and not just sexual) to cloud their judgement. Honestly, it's one of the better stories of how people deal with trauma and how lofty ideals are just that, ideals.

I really cannot wait to see more of this. As a longtime fan, and a collector of Sejic's other work (such as the Sunstone series), it's always exciting to see what Sejic comes up with.

This comic series initially started off as two separate joke ideas.
One was of an asexual woman who makes a deal with an incubus thinking maybe a sex demon could explain to her what's so good about sex, he fails and they become roommates.
Second one was, woman tries to make a contract with the greatest sexual incarnate but it's a contested title and now she has to be the referee.

That sounds like a hilarious premise, right?
Unfortunately, this comic doesn't really include neither of those storylines.
The whole volume is basically just a setup for all of this...
It really makes me wonder why erotica comics do this? I mean... coming up with convoluted storylines and spending 150 pages for setting everything in place. Nobody cares!
There are a lot of characters, a lot of them look kind of similar and it really took me 3/4 of the comic to get everything straight and realise what was going on...
To the plus side, there is a lot of genderfluidity! Even though it seems like most of the succubi (and you know, all the other kind of cubi etc.) have a preferred gender-form they all have the ability to switch things around, which among other things means that gay couple can have children together if they so desire so that's pretty neat! There is also a lot of queer couples (if I can call them that...) or interactions, so... yeah, this is the reason why I in the end decided to go with three stars instead of two... overall, I feel tricked because I didn't get the things the book promised...

Disappointing, to be honest.

You're not gonna get this one for the story.

Sejic's art is gorgeous, and that's basically the focus here - erotic art with a rather thin plot to tie it all together.

I was hoping for a little more fantasy, but there's not really anything here - a pact with succubae to give up love for desire and a bunch of familiar mythological names in a bizarre setting. Beyond that, it's basically just people having sex a whole bunch.

The characters all look similar, so there's no reality to be had there, and there's a very weak plot involving a bad breakup that's kind of referred to intermittently to remind us this isn't all about sex (it totally is).

Ultimately, it's the kinky stuff that'll find fans more than anything. And the art is gorgeous for that, but there's not really much more.

I was hoping for a fun, feisty plot out of this but unfortunately it failed to deliver. If you're after a bland story that focuses on beautiful people coupling, though, you should be satisfied here.

This review originally published in Looking For a Good Book. Rated 5.0 of 5

If someone were to create a movie rating between an 'R' and 'X' (like 'R-21'), then this graphic novel would fit perfectly in that category.

When it comes to making bad decisions, no one does it better than Lauren Thomas. She is currently suffering from a broken heart (due to a bad decision, of course) when she encounters a succubus, Merryl. Merryl is currently disguised as a human but for whatever reason (I don't think we're told just why, yet), Lauren can see her for who she really is. This is a turn-on for Merryl.

Lauren is given the opportunity to put aside her sorrow and forget about her break-up and instead get it on with the god of desire. A pretty easy choice for someone desperately in need of some loving. The only problem ... 'the god of desire' title is claimed by two different gods and now Lauren is caught in the middle of an eros and thanatos feud.

This book took me pleasantly by surprise.

First, the artwork is really just stunning for a graphic novel. Every page, every panel - just gorgeous work. It helps, I'm sure that gods and goddesses are a major part of the story and the art is able to express the lavishness of their station - there are wings, and tentacles, and horns, and of course perfect bodies.

What I liked about the story was that it didn't feel like it was just an excuse for a lot of sex (oh ... there is a lot of sex!). As the author writes at the end of the book, this really is about flawed people (with gods also being people here) and mistakes and choices and dealing with the consequences.

There are a couple of different stories going on, but author and artist Stjepan Šejić weaves it all together into a coherent, exciting, and really engaging book.

There is plenty of nudity and genitalia and lots and lots of sex (those gods have nothing better to do, it seems) so if this would offend, don't pick it up, but if you don't mind and you enjoy well-written and beautifully drawn graphic novels, then be sure to check this out.

Looking for a good book? Fine Print is a graphic novel from creator Stjepan Šejić that could stand alone as a written work or as an art book, but having the art and story together here makes it a treat worth buying.

I received a temporary, digital copy of this book from the publisher, through Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review.

I cannot do it. Fine Print, Volume 1 Paperback – November 30, 2021
by Stjepan Sejic (Author, Artist) is not a book I can recommend. Stjepan Sejic is a wonderful artist, very good at drawing beautiful people having beautiful sex and the fabulous fabulous settings, mythic and earthly can be lovely. Except that the beauty is conventional, no one is curvy or in anyway challenging. Worse, so many of the characters look like each other. This is especially fatal as the plot, rather the continuous flow of complexities involves a continuous flow of characters. Including characters who can change sex, only they still look like each other.

If you know this artist, you know what to expect in the art. That is the reason for the second star. Otherwise, so much sameness and too many details that seem to exist only to justify many many books in a series. Three years later and they have just announced book 2 to be printed next year. You can skip printing my copy.

This was such a pleasure to read. From Sunstone to this (both in the same universe, with one brief cameo!), Stjepan continues to amaze me with his stand-out ability to depict rich, complex characters dealing with difficult and relatable emotions and romantic dilemmas. Yes, there is sex and nudity and fetishwear in these books, but that is set dressing for the very emotionally intelligent human elements he explores.

The afterward states that this story evolved from two one-off joke setups: an asexual woman making a deal with an incubus to find out what's the big deal people like about sex; he fails and they become roommates. And another woman who tries using a contract with gods of desire to overcome heartbreak; she ends up having to play referee between two competing erotic deities.

I see some people on goodreads that I follow criticizing this series because there are only a few face and body types illustrated. But honestly, although that's a valid point, and one Stjepan is likely aware of and working on, it is also true of like 90% of comic book artists! Some people also found the plot too complex and were bored by it. Okay? Have you READ mainstream superhero comics? Cuz I KNOW you have. In that world, there are these characters and tropes that countless creators have slightly reshaped thousands of times. Most of them are trash with some really great ones shining and making things still fresh and interesting. Stjepan Šejić is creating stories of a kind pretty much no one else in Western print comics is doing (I'm sure the worlds of manga and webcomics have a lot more similar titles, but I am not familiar with those worlds.). He clearly has personal knowledge and experience with non-traditional sexual and romantic options that many people are still resigned to exploring in secret (as opposed to E.L. James and other fan-fic writers who, without really knowing the subject matter, have infamously depicted predatory abuse as sexy BDSM).

I personally can't wait for more of this series, because he's really onto something great with this world he and his wife are co-building.

Stjepan Sejic's art is so freaking gorgeous. I just.. I could get lost in it, no matter the story. I am glad this one says volume 1, though, because dang I need volume 2. I have to know what happens to these characters. I loved the world building with only certain special humans being able to see incubi/sucubi or cupids then signing contracts with those beings to preserve the Gods. The secretive and scandalous ties between the cubi and cupids and what it means for them - I have to know more! As a graphic novel, this is particularly spicy, so if that's not your thing, I'd avoid this one.

I actually found this comic very enjoyable. Although the cover was very very interesting… but hey, we listen and we don’t judge 🤣

Firstly, I bought this to read cause I saw we were selling it and thought why no one had considered buying it, besides the very sexual cover I guess.. so it piqued my interest and decided to read it. And OMG, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE ART!! I NEED MORE ART BY THIS AUTHOR, SO BEAUTIFUL!

I was reading some of the reviews for this comic and it wasn’t really liked, for me I enjoyed the story just as much as I did the art. Very sexual that’s for sure, but it honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. The characters in the story were very interesting, I found myself laughing at Hades’ scene cause of the Cupid and succubus(?) Idk what that is but it’s mixed with mythology so I’m gonna do some research now 😅

One of the main characters, I think, Lauren, her story was so sad I felt my heart ache for her. She let the best thing that happened to her get away…

Definitely wanna read the next volume, shit just got interesting.

I'm a big fan of Sejic because of Sunstone, Death Vigil, and Harleen. His fantasy stuff has not done as well, and this is another example of why - gorgeous artwork (definitely more of the same-face trend that he's well known for, though), interesting characters, and very sexy spicy scenes, but soooo much writing and a LOT of lore/world building stuffed into just a few chapters. He's very ambitious, but that can lose some readers in the convoluted and often slow-paced stories he tries to weave. Not sure if I'll continue picking this up.

I knew the second that I saw that this was coming out, that I needed to get my hands on it as soon as possible. I adore the Sunstone series by this author and this one definitely held up to my expectations! The Sunstone cameo!!!

This was a lot steamier than I was expecting but I loved it— there’s a lot of interconnected storylines that slowly get pulled together throughout this first volume. The drama we are about to witness in volume 2!!! I cannot wait to see it. This volume was more of a development volume— more of the slow climb to the top of the mountain type but I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless.

I am so excited to see where this story goes! If you’re looking for angst, drama between gods, succubi, cupids and more— sexy scenes, tails and wings and more— definitely check this one out when it is released November 2nd!

Having greatly enjoyed 'Punderworld' and being told this is sort of a spicy spinoff sequel to that, I was disappointed in this.
The art is pretty, with a classic-pinups feel to it, but suffers a bit from everyone looking too similar--I honestly thought for awhile that the two contracted humans were somehow the same person years apart.
Without giving too much away, the plot revolves around Greek mythical figures adapting to the modern world, where without mortal worship to produce the ambrosia needed for eternal life, they must make do by having succubi/incubi harvest ambrosia-making energy from rare humans who have a certain quality of energy. There's some friction between cubi, who specialize in lust but apparently can't feel love, and cupids, who deal in love but apparently can't feel lust--unless cupids strike cubi with their love-arrows and/or cubi sting cupids with their tails, which happens at secret forbidden orgies. I'm still fuzzy on why cupid/cubi pairings are so forbidden and looked down upon, other than just the aesthetic of it (*shrug*). And apparently it's possible for cupids to choose to somehow become cubi (also very looked down on)...? Still VERY fuzzy on that. Anyway, the top rank among cubi is up for grabs since the former top vanished, and we spend way too much time wallowing in the romantic screwed-upness of the human woman whose contract is going to be the focus of things (I left to focus on my career--but oh I miss you and want you back--but oh how could I take you back--but oh I'll drop everything to make you change your mind--but oh I suck--but oh how I regret- Ugh, enough already!). There are several non-straight pairings, but without time to show much emotional depth to them they felt blankly lust-based (therefore just titillating) more than 'yay, representation'. Also one likely-asexual character (who seems to not know the word for what they are) has their sexuality treated as a challenge to 'fix' rather than "oh, okay--you're not 'broken', you're asexual" and then disappears. *tired facepalm* *f'ing cubi, is sex your solution to EVERYTHING*

Side-note: BDSM fans might appreciate the brief, non-predatory portrayal of their community (at one point someone gets depressed and decides to punish themselves by finding someone to hurt them, and is turned away by numerous doms who give them some variation of "listen, I'm not messing with your emotional wreckage, you need to find a *therapist*"). I don't know if this will stay consistent later on.

But like I said, way too much wallowing before getting to the point, at which point this volume ended. I dunno, I *might* look at the next one to see if we get more plot out of that, but if it gets back to the melodramatics and stupid decisions, I'm out.

Fine Print is very sexy, pretty fun, but very messy. On a structural level this story is unnecessarily convoluted. Half of the volume is a fairly grounded drama about a woman trying and failing to recapture her lost love. The other is a supernatural romp in the underworld filled with succubi lore and immortal rivalries. For almost the entirety of volume 1 these two plots have absolutely nothing to do with each other and the jumps between underworld politics and earthbound character drama were continuously jarring.

Outside of the convoluted structure Stjepan Šejić's storytelling overall frequently wasn't very effective. This is most evident in the parts of the comic focusing on unlucky in love ex-model Lauren. Her sections are overwhelmed by grating and frequently unnecessary narration. The narration was in third person past tense as if Lauren was telling the story to the audience which only added distance between me and the narrative. This was most frustrating because I think Šejić is a great visual storyteller. His ability to capture nuanced emotion through expression and framing made for really solid character moments. Unfortunately those moments were constantly disrupted by garish pink text boxes filled with distracting snark and overwrought melodrama.

I had a bit more fun getting into the lore and politics of the fantastical half of the story. While worldbuilding and exposition was occasionally clunkily delivered I did find the concerns of the succubi and incubi of the underworld interesting. From forbidden love affairs to professional rivalries a lot of the plot threads set up there seemed to have potential for a very fun story.

I would say the main draw for this book is its copious amounts of smut. And I won't lie Šejić is a great artist with a particular talent for drawing hot people in hot situations. If your here for that and forgiving of some janky storytelling I think you'll have a good time.

Though I had my disappointments I'm not writing off Fine Print entirely. A lot of my issues with the story felt like the growing pains of the start of a series so if and when a volume 2 comes out I'll check out what's in store next.

Saw this in the store, almost cried, definitely freaked out, went home and ordered it online.
Safe to say, I had pretty big expectations when I saw the cover and read the blurb. At the end I did not feel let down at all.

It gets a spice score of 3.5. It has kinda abstract sex scenes with gorgeous illustrations that are pretty graphic. It also has imaging of genitalia, but despite mentioning BDSM it keeps itself pretty vanilla. It has a bunch of sexual themes, but most of it’s implied and all of it’s incredibly well done!

This book is absolutely a set up for a story though. It’s slow paced and world building heavy. It sets up the story that it promises in the blurb and though I didn’t really mind, I can see how that would be a let down for some people.

The art, as usual from Stjepan Šejić, is absolutely gorgeous, vivid, and colourful. Some of Lauren’s expressions actually made me laugh out loud. I was thrilled to find some familiar faces making an appearance too!

The story somehow nails the balance between heartbreaking/emotional/dramatic, and sexy/horny/playful. It’s also effortlessly and deliciously queer in a way I wish more media was.
This set up makes me very excited for future volumes. I’m already deeply, emotionally invested in the characters and I hope really badly that their stories end happily!

To step it up even further in the future I would love to see more variety, especially in body types and faces!

From slightly fuzzy memories of my previous experience with Sunstone, I was already expecting to enjoy this story. Stjepan Šejic's art style is gorgeous and his characters are beautifully and truthfully crafted. This volume was pretty much introdutory to a story that seems to be building up to great things, and it does an excellent job at preparing you for what may or may not come your way in future volumes. At first I was bit bothered by some overlapping plotlines and the shared universe bit but the author's note at the end was helpful about that. Overall, this was a great read and I'm looking forward to reading volume 2!

Sejic knocks it out of the park with this book, and I think he might be a new favorite author now! I went into this expecting the same thing as I read in Sunstone with a bit of a fantasy angle, I was not expecting a whole plot about the Realm of the Gods, actual exploration of the Succubus as a fantasy race, and how intertwined Love and Desire are even when they are pitted against each other. Make no mistake though - just like in Sunstone, when this book gets racy, it REALLY goes for it! However its handled in such a mature way, just like in Sunstone, that it makes me respect the entire creative team behind this book.

I absolutely can't wait for Volume Two!
