A new series set in the universe of the Nature Walker Trilogy and the Tames of the Forest War, Guardians of Orana.
They are the Guardians, the protectors: the Rajah and the Nature Walker. But they are also Sath and Gin – former members of the Fabled Ones, whose bond has been tested time and again. Together they defeated a power-hungry wizard and ancient dragon, but their biggest test is yet to come: the darkness that exists between them.
When the apprentice of that same wizard finds out that the two adventurers are responsible for the death of her mentor, she swears revenge. What begins as a journey to reconnect becomes a fight for the soul of Orana.
An ancient enemy combined with a recent threat leaves the Guardians to chose their allies carefully as they fight to return home in time to save their people from the ever-growing darkness.

This book is a spin-off of another of the author's series, which I have not read. That posed no issue for me to jump right in and enjoy this story. I loved the relationship between Gin and Sath. Not only was the slow burn delectable, but I sympathized with how they were forced to deal with mistrust and past history to confront a common enemy. The twists and turns they faced on this adventure kept me on the edge of my seat. My heart ached for Ellie and her misplaced loyalty. Each character was so well developed, with their distinct strengths, weaknesses, and complicated motivations. The descriptions brought this fantasy world to life for me while maintaining an engaging pace. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys epic fantasy adventure.
