Autumyn's Kiss: A Kiss Family Novel

Rate this book
Owner of the popular Foxview Heights Café, Mocha over Breakfast and known to her customers as The Café Lady, Autumyn Moon Day, has a history of running away from commitment, literally.

After leaving one man at the altar and fleeing two proposals, she vows to enjoy meaningless flings rather than addressing the root cause of her fears and it worked for her. Until Aeryn, the new owner of the tattoo shop across the street enters M.O.B., soon becoming a permanent fixture in not just one of her booths, but in her heart as well.

Aeryn didn’t come to The Heights to find love. He came to meet and get to know the long lost sister he recently found out about a few months ago. However, when he first locks eyes with the gorgeous and flirty owner of the café, he gets more than he bargained for. Autumyn causes him to want more than long nights between the sheets, for the first time in his life.

What happens when two people who are used to running away from love are being pulled to run to one another instead? Will they allow their unaddressed issues from their past to threaten their future? Or will they both let go of their fears and fall into the magic of Autumyn’s Kiss?

Listen, Autumyn's Kiss had me knee deep in my feelings. Between Autumyn's commitment and grief issues to Aeryn's daddy issues, both of them had my nerves stretched super thin. These two took me on an emotional rollercoaster I did not ask to get on but, I enjoyed the ride none the less. Autumyn's grief over the passing of her mama is interfering with her ability to commit to a relationship long term. She really was the run away bride/fiancé because, baby girl was not trying to commit to anyone. Aeryn's daddy Omar was trash and his fear of turning out to be just like him made him press pause on any kind of serious relationship. The struggle for these two to become one was stressful as hell. They let their insecurities rule their ability to love and almost ruin the possibility of what could've been. But, Daddy Day and the homey Zion came through with a much needed tough love convo for Autumyn and Aeryn to get them to see the error of their ways and realize they were both deserving of love. Autumyn's Kiss was a captivating read. Between the family drama and the steamy sex scenes (clutches pearls just remembering them), your attention will be captured from the first page until the last. Now, how long do we have to wait for Wynter and Alex's story?!!! Because, they definitely have to have one.

I love a good book with unresolved childhood trauma, and that's exactly what Autumyn and Aeryn had. Autumyn is the owner of a coffee shop and can be labeled as 2021's version of the runaway bride, ditching her relationships as soon as they get too serious. Aeryn isn't looking for love, mostly a good time, all while trying to resolve some family matters. Autumyn and Aeryn's connection is so magnetic, no matter how hard they both try to sabotage what they have, they can't avoid what the universe has in store for them.

This was a cute read and if you couldn't tell from the cover, takes place in the fall season. The book ends on my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, so that was an additional bonus. This was a cute full-length story that gave me all the feels. You even get a few drop-ins from this author's others story as well. There's also some bomb sex scenes. Loved it!!!

Autumyn Ɛ Aeryn

Well, I did it. I pushed through and finished it. The plot to this story was so good. I was so excited to dive in, but for some reason it did not grab me. I struggled quite a bit. The dialogue was good, but IMO, it wasn't enough. There was a lot silence or gap between the conversations so the author could explain the scene and other previous scenarios. I loved Autumyn and Aearyn. Their love story was so beautiful but their past was heartbreaking. I loved the effort and the intentionality to make their relationship work, cause these two had so much healing they needed to go through. I would love to get a story for Wynter and Alex, the sexual tension between was thick and I loved it. Speaking of sexual tingz...those sex scenes were outrageous. Outrageous in the best way. Enough to make a chocoloate woman blush. My gaawwddd.
Although I didn't fully enjoy this story (Which is a me thing) I would definitely recommand this book. The plot was really good and the love between the H&h was palpable. This is my first story by Ms. Kema B and I would definitely read more from her.

“Two beautifully flawed people, slightly damaged and worn by their past who brought out the resiliency in one another.” This quote from the book perfectly described Autumyn and Aeryn! They gave me all the feels from their very first time meeting each other. Despite the hurt and trauma from their past, they were determined to be better for each other! I LOVED the sibling love on both sides and would love a story from Wynter and Alex. Kema does not miss and has me all wrapped up in love in The Heights.

Though I'm very much a "get to the point" type of girl, I enjoyed the push and pull of these characters. It was very much necessary for their growth as individuals and as a couple. The descriptions are on point, and give you a good visual of exactly what the author is trying to convey. I LOVED Aeryn from the moment he stepped on the scene. And while normally Kema's female characters tend to stress me, Autumyn wasn't bad ...outside of the complicated name!! Lol.

Sprinkle a little family drama into the mix and you have a captivating read that's sure to leave you wanting more!

Love is kind ❤❤❤

This book was intriguingly good. Autumyn and Aeryn's attraction was almost instant and the chemistry between them was off the charts. The journey was far from easy for the pair especially with the unresolved issues from their passes that threatened to disrupt everything they had going. I loved that there was a equal balance between the emotional moments and happy/fun parts. The personalities of the supporting characters made the book even more fun. Definitely looking forward more of the Day sisters. ❤❤

Whew the heat radiating off Autumyn (Ottoman from here I. Out.... it’s an insider joke)and Aeryn (Cream from here on out) occurs very naturally. I think front the first time they saw each other I knew that they were each other’s person..... Even before I knew her name. I enjoyed watching the back and forth flirtatious banter between the two. I’m even more happy that the author kept the same energy between them. I wish that the author would have shown us a real glimpse into Cream’s toxic days.... I understood why he was the way he was.... I even understood why she was the way she was. I must say I ain’t neveeeeeeeerrrrrr met a character who ran the entire book.... but wholeheartedly enjoyed this not toxic love story.

My song choice for this book is: Incomplete by Sisqo

Excellent Story!

This book was SO GOOD!!!!! I loved that this was a journey for BOTH of them. It wasn't easy, on either side, but it was worth it! Autumyn and Aeryn were each other's right person at the RIGHT TIME. And they pushed each other to healing, wholeness and growth. They each had a lot to unpack and get right, but they loved the other enough to do the work. It was also great to see some of my previous faves like Zion and Simone. I absolutely loved the siblings and I cannot wait to see how each of their love stories unfold!

Nothing Short of Amazing!

One thing Kema does well besides gives us some dope name for characters is making us want to go through the journey with them. With the trauma alone. I wanted to see Aeryn and Autumyn win but baby, you made us work for it! Lol. I wanted to scream. I also loved seeing Zion and Simone again. I think you did a beautiful job of depicting a complicated, flawed yet powerful black love story, Miss Kema. I’m a fan.

Autumyn aka fall is real life

This book is every bit amazing. The way you incorporated the theme of the season, Autumyn's favorite, and consistently showed their trails and them overcoming them, yes! I love a woman who is about her business but can be difficult because let’s face it, realistically we are difficult lol. I will forever love this book as a fellow moon-child and lover of Anita. You did the damn thang girl. Patiently waiting on the other brothers

Good read

The background information and build up on both Aeryn and Autumn was necessary. I get how the grief affected Autumn. Aeryn annoyed me but I had to keep reminding myself that he had a different sort of trauma.

Wow!!!!

This was my first read by the author and I’ve found a new author to follow. I loved how relatable the heroine, Autumyn was. I related to her on a real personal level. The love that Aeryn gave her was undeniably true. Stories like this gives you that little faith that men like him may still exist. Thank you for this story♥️

Love is patient...

I mean, come on now? Autumyn and Aeryn were absolutely perfect for each other, there is no denying that! I thoroughly enjoyed the way everything played out between them, their families and their friends. They both suffered from different pain and suffering in their pasts, but I'm glad that they worked through everything and stayed together. They were nasty though lol, but that was beautifully written and super sexy! This book was nothing short of amazing!

A Kiss For Autumyn

This was a for sure roller coaster ride; a good one.

My heart broke for Autumyn. I cannot imagine the depths of pain she endured having to bare that secret of her parents. I'm glad she got herself together because Aeryn didn't want no parts in her foolery. I was glad when she went to fix things with him, because I truly loved them together. I loved that Autumyn was so open with her sexuality and flirtatious, yet kept it to a minimum, except with Aeryn. Although I get why her mom, and essentially her dad, had Autumyn promise to keep her illness from her sisters, yet I wish they hadn't. It took a much bigger negative toll on her than she suspected and I ached for her. I loved the relationship Autumyn and her sisters had.

Aeryn had me at hello. He was a man hurt, yet didn't know just how deep that hurt seeped. I also loved the relationship he had with his brothers. Their dad was a despicable man. How do you "groom" your son to be a whoremonger (basically), while your married to said son's mother🤨...make it make sense 🤷🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️. His dad deserved that beating Aeryns older brother, Alex, put on him and much more if you ask me. Aeryn had a big heart and I'm glad he immediately wanted to meet his sister he never knew about. The instant protector in him was so heartwarming. I'm glad he and his brothers approached their uncle and cousins in a way to only be respectful. As far as Aeryn and Autumyn, he messed up, yet I'm glad he saw the error of his ways and did what a man would and got his woman, his other half, his heart, his future everything 🥰. I cannot wait for more updates from these two.

The family dynamics in this book was so great. Getting a glimpse at all the side characters relationships and personalities, without it overshadowing the main characters was so great to read. I hope all those characters have books because I'm invested in this group and these families and I need more.

This was a very good read. Kema B. truly does her thing in writing these books and I'm sure I'll be devouring more of her dynamic work. Highly recommend this book.

Kema Gurl! You wrote the hell out of this one honey!! I am in emotional overload! I think! I don't know! I loved Autumyn from the beginning. She was sassy, with a quick wit, and was on her boss ish! That first interaction with Aeryn, was hysterical and I knew to hold on tight for the ride. But, who knew that you would bring out all of these feelings, while enjoying your read? I wondered what was up with Autumyn, and why she was so afraid. When it was all revealed, I cried for her, you hear me? Having to hold all of that in, had to be torture for her; and I could feel her anguish. Aeryn, had a whole lot of family demons he was dealing with. I commend him for removing himself from the situation, so that he could try and heal the best way he knew how. Although he had those lingering thoughts in his head, he did his best to be good to Autumyn. He and Autumyn were 🔥 together! The playful banter, and the genuine friendship that blossomed between them was beautiful. You knew love was going to come hard and fast for them. But, damn was it hard! They both had so much baggage that they hadn't dealt with, that was making it almost impossible for them to be successful. Love wins! Because of the love they had for each other, they fought their way through the fears, doubts, and got out of their own way to find forever. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and look forward to more from the other characters. Excellent job! 👍👍👍

Girl Give Me Something To Feel On So Please Believe We Gone Be Twerking It Out
By The End Of The Night Baby

I absolutely love how all the books/characters are intertwined some kind of way. It's like getting continued updates on past characters lives. I like the fact that Aeryn and Autumyn were drawn to each other from the first moment that they met. They both had past issues that the had to work out because of their parents but everything worked itself out in the end. Those intimate scenes were so hot 🔥🔥Baby. I really think that Alex and Wynter are going to end up together because they stay bumping heads. I like how close Alex, Aeryn, Aidan, and Adonis are and how they supported Aeryn decision to make contact with their unknown sister Audrey. I like the closeness with the sisters Wynter, Autumyn, Apryl, and Summer too. Omar is a sad excuse of a man and father and I hope that the men will keep Audrey protected from him the best that they can. Granny is still crazy without a filter. I can't wait to see who Audrey is lowkey dating.

Welcome to Foxview Heights!!! Fall is in the air along with love vibes that are aiming straight for two shop owners, Autumyn and Aeryn. Autumyn Day is the owner of M.O.B where there's never a shortage of warmth, whether it's the comfort food and drinks or the personality of The Cafe Lady herself. Aeryn Kiss is the handsome new stranger that owes the tattoo shop A Kiss of Ink who catches more than just her eye. Their love story begins with a flirty friendship that blurs lines that neither of them expected or predicted, but they embrace as they find solace in the other's presence. Falling in love was easy, but holding onto it proved to be more elusive and challenging. Ride the rollercoaster with these two as they navigate life and love., it definitely does not disappoint bringing the warm fuzzies, the Alpha male book bae #BDE, and a sassy female lead that warms your heart and spirit. Well done Kema B...you've definitely got a fan!!

I LOVE THEM

I’m going to go ahead and say that these two are my second favorite couple by Kema B. I loved their relationship and the way they handled each other. They got through their own shit and realized they were better with each other than without. The characters were fully developed. There were so many updates from previous books and nuggets for future books. The way Kema continues to get better with every book and develops her character better every book I’m excited to see where she goes from here. She has found a fan for life. This a great first read because you will want to go back to grasp who all the characters are in this world she’s created. These two were completely relatable and so much fun. With their family and friends to add to the foolery you won’t lose with this book and this author. I hope you enjoy as much as I did!! Congrats Kema B

Loved it!

This was such a great read! This read really hit home for me in a bunch of different way. Autumyn and her sisters really reminded me of me and my own sisters.... I am WYNTER and she is me! I’ve never read a character that I identified so closely with. I love her and hope we get to read about her and Alex soon! Back to Autumyn and Aeryn, they completed each other perfectly and I’m so satisfied with the way things turned out.... also I am in love with the sisters names. They’re so creative and beautiful 😍 per usual great work from Kema... I can’t wait for the next one!

Started off good and then fell off

So I was all for this book! I loved the way Aeryn helped her to address her fears. Then I got through 75% of it and had a wtf moment?! I completely understand every book has to have some sort of issue to overcome. But for that issue to be Aery’s dad talking some nonsense and him doubting himself, like really?! You nearly lost me there. That was the worst part of this book and the reason why I gave it 3 stars. It just didn’t make sense. Even the ending was kind of lackluster. It started strong but the end didn’t meet my expectations.

Whew...this is definitely a "run" for your money

This author has done it again. She gave us an authentic love story with all the chemistry you want with the couple as well as the angst and drama that come in a relationship. Both of them were battling their own kind of loss and almost lost each other due to it. I am glad they pushed through it all and found love with each other. Of course I want to know what's up with Wynter and Alex. I did adore Autymn and Aeryn.

Fall with Cream

Fall & Cream are the perfect examples of repairing oneself after loss/grief and finding love with your soulmate. Kema B. did a great job in character development and the backgrounds of each character. I love that’s she brings reality wishing her books by addressing grief/loss. I also love that she spotlights the extra curvy beautiful brown women. Can’t wait to read more of the Kiss brothers and Day sisters! 🌛🍁

The author did a great job writing about some heavy issues but also balancing the funny moments . So while this book will lead you to reflection it will also have you literally laughing out loud. Autumyn and Aeryn definitely had some obstacles to face but I loved being along for the journey! Looking forward to more from this author !

One of the best reads of the year!

I don’t want to say too much about the love story of Aeryn and Autumyn . I want you to ride the wave of emotions I did as i read page after page. Kema has poured so much love, pain, and emotion in this book. You will fall hard for Aeryn and Autumyn. This is my favorite book so far from Kema and one of the best reads of the year .

Awesome Read

This was another dope read by this author. Her way with words never ceases to amaze me. The real life trauma and issues that are touched on leaves you no choice but to connect with the characters emotionally even if you do want to bop both of them a time or two. I cannot wait to see what’s next!!!
