With the rise of the Ancient Cavern Beast, Furea, the Bringer of Fire, comes a threat the likes of which Buryoku hasn't seen in centuries. As if this wasn't bad enough, his armies rise along with him, containing fighters so powerful that even the Scions may not be victorious against them.
While the war rages on, Roy and Aika find themselves transported to a new land, set on a mission by his mother to hunt down the only man who can truly teach Roy how to control his birthright. Finding him may also unlock the only key to defeating the Ancient Beast.
Roy and Aika race against time even as Sovereigns, aligned against his father, scheme and plot his downfall. The toughest battles Roy has ever faced are on the horizon, and facing stronger enemies than ever before, he must advance quickly or face certain death.
The world of Buryoku has really fleshed out nicely and the characters have really been developed in such a way that gets you emotionally invested and makes you feel like you need to know what's in store for them in the future. I can't wait to see what's in store for Roy and his companions!
Roy’s growth continues under the threat of the Ancient Cavern Beast Furia’s awakening
Azure loves the people on Buryoku, especially those with dungeon cores in them like him, and as he only recently ascended, he keeps breaking the rules to help them. Until his superiors send a babysitter to stop him, in his last moments he sends a message to Hermit with an idea of how to stop Furia’s rise, if they accept the challenge. Meanwhile Roy, Aika, and Ferry as well as many others are training hard already when they are selected to compete by Duncan and Hermit. Soon both sides send out their fighters to capture, kill, or return the selected fighters all at Red belt. Roy has been training under his uncle Doragon’s brutal mentoring, with limited time Doragon works to unlock Roy’s beast side and teach him to harness it as well as find his path and the missing techniques he needs to develop hus Conquerer technique.
I have two gripes with this book. My first one is that it feels like the author escalated the scale of conflict faster than, the main character grows in power and skill. This resulted in some weird tournament like solution to a world ending war, to make the main character relevant to the story. Which to me is astounding, as my second gripe with the story is that the main character grows in power way too quickly (we have characters that have grown their skill in martial arts and cultivation level for centuries, yet the main character caught up in like 3 years) but it is a common issue, or even a feature of power fantasy type stories. Just that, in combination with even faster escalating threat level, it does not make the main character feel powerful.
Aaron you've made another masterpiece! I absolutely love Buryoku as a series! I also can't wait for the final book of "Rise to omniscience"! I think you did an awesome job with Roy struggling with chakra and his entire training arc was pretty awesome. I must say I'm looking forward to all the epic epicness in the next book as well as hopefully some drama XD
Mr. Oster is adept at driving the story forward in a furious manner, constantly building tension, and yet still weaves an amazing narrative with depth and consideration. Amazing series. Love the balance between explosive growth and the development of the character, the world as a whole, and the multiple plots. Fantastic writing. 10 stars.
Fun story. Enjoyed the training arc we needed for all the action we had going on in the past few books… I’m glad we got to see a training arc this book and the next seemingly dedicated to what seems to be a tournament arc.
These are the fun tropes in this genre that are always enjoyable to me.
This book has all the training sequences of our dreams and the MC’s nightmare,we thought we had seen training before but oh boy were we wrong. As before amazing fighting sequences, new locations/ continents and more are hinted at. Tantalising glimpses of level 14 and more at hinted at . I want the next book sooner and bigger please.
outstanding work again the book was a great read and kept me hooked entirely and i absolutely can’t wait for book 7 to come out i do hope it’s soon but keep up the good work
It goes without saying that cultivation novels are killing it this year and this one is no exception. The character development remains on point, the world becomes more vibrant and alive and the fight scenes continue to blow my mind. Bring on book 7!
I love Aaron’s books and the cosmos he’s building it in. Earth takes Roy and gives him a greater challenge than just stay alive. The powers are super cool and I’m looking forward to the next one!
If you like Cradle you'll like this as they're very similar in story. This book is all about our heroes getting stronger and really makes me excited about the next book. This is progressive fantasy at its finest.
I almost wrote off this series after my dissatisfaction with some characters breaking their personality types so suddenly and harshly. I am glad I stuck it out. This has quickly become my favorite of the author's series and I'm eager to read the next
Continuous progression, mostly focused on the MC, though there is some annoying slippage, and genuine character development. A very good book in a great series. Looking forward to the next installment.
This series has had consistently great action sequences, great growth mechanics, and amazing turns of events. If you're looking for an interesting story that embodies martial arts with heroes as dedicated as Goku, read this series!
I really enjoy this series. If anything I’d love to have even more details to digest, so if you’re sucker for as much story as you can possibly handle leave a review like me ;)
Just like the rest of the series, this is a great friggin book. Continuing on with where it left off. If you're into cultivation books, this series is a must read.
Alright thus one is done so next please. Follows the story continuing with development of characters and making the end goal ever farther reaching in terms of top power.
Having already cemented itself as my favorite of the Aaron Oster series, the latest addition did not disappoint in the least. Already impatient for more!
