Had it really only been four months since we’d first met Davin, my sister’s black co-worker? April, May, June, July … yeah, I guess it was four months. But in those four months, his presence had bit-by-bit intruded into nearly every corner of our previously very normal All-American marriage and family life. He’d progressed from a one-time acquaintance to a basketball team-mate to being a regular guest and Uncle Dav to our kids. And that’s not counting how his relationship with my wife had developed. With such levels of mutual attraction between them, inevitably their friendship had developed into something much, much more. Until finally I’d given Pip her wish of a one-night pass of freedom to sleep with the man she lusted after. And now here we were, Dav had now bedded my wife on more than one occasion. Giving her nothing but pleasure with his oversized cock. Giving me a bewildering mix of angst, jealousy and lustful excitement. But last night things had got seriously out of whack when Dav’s behavior had become belittling and insulting and I’d slammed on the brakes and kicked him out of our house. Leaving a sullen and angry Pip. The two of us in an angry state of war. Wondering where our marriage went from here.
This review covers the first two books of the series. While I have really enjoyed the characters Peter Johnson has developed in past books I have read, I cannot say the same for Pip and Josh. In the first book, Pip takes on the role of a manipulative little... Involving her sister-in-law, to get her husband's approval for a hall pass so she can experience the thrills of sex with a BBC. I guess I should give credit to the author for this twist in the normal plotline of this genre.
After coming to terms with his wife's desire, Josh thinks he can put up limits and control the inevitable. Which was unrealistic and led to conflict and angst normally found in the gene. In the second book, Josh (and Pip) realizes his cuckold tendencies which allows his wife to manipulate him further. What struck me is his willingness to be the third wheel in this three-way relationship. And while there is talk of a loving emotional relationship between husband and wife, when the two are not open and honest with each other, those words rang hollow to me.
So what started as a hall pass for the night turns into a relationship that lasts several months until Dav, the bull, moves out of state. Now that Dav has moved and there is a third book, I have to read the third book to understand how and why Pip manipulates Josh to get her way a little longer.
Part two follows straight on as the couple deals with their anger towards each other. Both declare that their love is untouchable and will not be affected by bringing another man temporarily into their sexual relationship.
But Pip has gone black. Can she really ever go back? She knows just how to manipulate her cuckold.
Josh rationalises that giving his wife freedom to explore what she missed in her younger days is contained as Dav’s stay in their city ends in weeks. He also starts to realise that a part of him is highly aroused by a bigger, more virile man's lust for his wife.
But Dav strikes me as wanting more; he has Pip anyway he wants her, has built a relationship with the couple's kids and is playing mind games with Josh. Is this black bull also a cuckoo in their nest?
This is my first experience with this author's work, so I don’t know what endings he favours. This adds extra spice with two more parts to go. Personally, I enjoy that it could go either way.
So I don’t think this book is as good as book 1 but it is a quality read and setting up the remain8ng series well.
I find Pip much more of an attentive, appreciative, and loving wife in this one but I still believe she is manipulating Josh…just much more subtle because Josh doesn’t think so.
Not as much true angst/anger in this book but the sex is much hotter and more frequent.
At this point this truly is much more of a Hotwife story than a cuck story which I appreciate a lot more.
One thing that I missed in the first book is Fliss. Why would any loving sister get her brother and wife into this lifestyle without benefit of a stated need from one of them. She set them both up by inviting Dav to the party and knew what she was doing.
Also, I don’t have much respect for any mother who drinks as much as Pip does and especially getting drunk. Can’t you have a good time without dulling your senses.
