When Adeline Green's now-famous high school crush descends on her quiet life, a public spotlight threatens to expose her deepest regret. After eight years of trying to bury her mistakes under a life of service, she's broke financially and spiritually. The last thing she can afford is feelings for the man who took center stage in her past-even if he does claim to know the secret to her redemption.

Gannon Vaughn and his rock band, Awestruck, have conquered the music industry, but he can't overcome his feelings for Adeline. When he hears she's struggling, he sets out to turn her life around and win back the love he lost to poor choices eight years ago.

But when Gannon's fame and their mutual regrets jeopardize their relationship anew, will grace be enough to bring them back to God and each other?

Gannon and Adeline’s story was an emotional second chance romance about a rock star and the one that got away. I enjoyed this author's voice and overall the book was good. The heroine was fairly stubborn and I could have done without the drama from the hero’s female friend but otherwise it was a nice read.

The book had me hooked immediately.

Although there is romance in the book, it was really the secondary storyline IMHO. The main focus of the story was about finding redemption through Christ. This book dealt with hard topics--drug abuse, suicide, and more. The characters were flawed--even the hero of the story realizes how flawed he still is. The process of them finding their way to forgiveness from God, each other, and themselves is heartbreaking and totally relatable.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to start the second one!

Emily Conrad has created a story of heartache, redemption,
reconciliation, and most importantly grace. The slow burn romance held me from beginning to end as I fell in love with this star-studded cast of rockstars and people in need of grace. Dare I hope for a book two?"

Definitely a great read!

This is a beautiful story to read.
I was hooked from the very first page of the book, there are many moments I could relate to faith and doubts of Adeline about herself

This is story where a woman still suffers internally for her past mistakes and is still trying to make peace with it by serving in church and not going for what she really wants.
Then there's Gannon whome she wants to hate and loath to forget her past mistakes .. but he wants peace with it! He isn't done loving her .. he couldn't, though a Rock star his solid ground is Faith and in it He loved her .. yes they made mistakes .. for what he'll be regretting all his life but still Trust in God

Gannon is a great character and are all the others, As the story sets out .. you'll see many side characters and how such friends help us and be with us through everything
and how some aren't good for us

Here comes my true feelings... I felt it almost not possible for a man to love a woman for so many years and after such a great history ... But it's because He says his heart is already gone with that women years back!

I enjoyed seeing how Gannon puts out the truth of life and wants Addie to experience life, a good hate to love story I'd say .

Honestly i wanted them together so much before the ending.. felt a bit bored but it's a nice read

Great faith content though !!

Definitely recommend to a Christian fiction lover

⚠️: Suicide mention, struggles with anxiety (light mentions)

Enjoyable contemporary romance novel by a new to me author.

This novel affirmed I wouldn't want to be famous. To live life in a spotlight would be so difficult.

I got a little weary with the lack of trust Adeline had in Gannon regarding his relationship with a fellow actress. The messages of letting Jesus be the real hero, moving on after tragedy and getting help for mental illness were all good ones.

Set in Wisconsin.

TO BRING YOU BACK is a story about forgiveness, particularly for one's self, and grace. It's about friendship, tough choices, getting out of the way of what is best, learning to let God be the hero and second chances at love. Recommended to those who enjoy strong Christian messages mixed with romance with plenty of chemistry.

I really liked the start of this story and loved the end. I also loved Gannon. He was a great character who both fit his rock star persona and someone who is trying his best to live as God wants him to. He really hopes to win Adeline over, but more than that, he wants her to live her life. I liked Adeline. She has a lot to work through in this story and has been carrying her baggage around and trying to both punish and redeem herself. Her character goes through quite a bit of development and I definitely liked her a lot more at the end of the story. They have good chemistry that you can easily feel. Then there was Gannon's bandmate, John, and Adeline's friend, Tegan who were great side characters. I also really liked the musical parts and the band dynamics. Plus, I plain liked the story of a rock star being this personable, vulnerable but confident person trying to win a girl over. I loved that in the end, they were both where they should be for love to have a real chance.

As I've alluded to, the middle of the story was a problem for me. I think I just had issues with how mean Adeline is to Gannon. She's still carrying all this guilt for something that happened nine years previously when she was just out of high school and has been punishing herself ever since and then still takes it out on him. I also wasn't really sold on the whole way the story was written so that she and Gannon are still in love after nine years. People usually change so much or come more into their own in that time and Gannon and Adeline don't really even talk a lot but he's ready to go all in. I wanted more development, more of them talking and becoming reacquainted before all that, which does end up getting ironed out, but it came across a bit as insta-love because they hadn't been in touch for so long. My other issue was the religious aspect felt too strong (like God as a lover should never be stated like that) and the fact that Gannon was literally friends with or cared for people only because he might be the one to help them turn to Christianity. I personally want people to be friends with me because they like me. It's actually a negative stigma of Christianity and one that pushes people away. That really bothered me.

In the end, was it what I wished for? There were parts I really enjoyed and even loved of this story. There were also some major things that didn't work for me. There was definitely potential here and I can see the series getting better as it goes. Overall, the story was enjoyable with a great hero. Those who like second-chance, rock-star romances with strong religious elements may enjoy this one.

The author did a great job writing about handling grief and regrets of the past.
Gannon and Adeline had their individual battles with regrets of the past. For Adeline it won't just let her go. My heart went out to her. The feeling of unworthiness of God's love and forgiveness was so real to her and it was sad to read her struggles.
The author wrote a wonderful tale of redemption, love, second chance and God's restoration.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

I am so impressed with this novel! The characters and situations felt real to me. Adeline and Gannon had a painful past, some might say one that was too painful to overcome. Yet Gannon’s love and concern for Adeline, along with a sliver of hope for reconciliation, brought him to the small Wisconsin town. What he found was a woman mired in anger, guilt, and a misguided view of God’s forgiveness.

This story dealt with some heavy topics, including, but not limited to, suicide, drugs, fame, and mental health issues. Every topic was handled with such grace. Adeline and Gannon struggled with their role in some painful situations from the past, as well as how to handle these issues when friends and coworkers were suffering.

I loved the romance between Gannon and Adeline. It was definitely slow burning…rather smoldering. Kept me reading and reading! But I think I was most impressed with Gannon’s determination and concern over Adeline’s faith walk. That cemented to me how much he loved her.

The author did a great job of creating realistic characters. The rock stars were real people and I loved that Adeline saw Gannon and John as the people they were and not as stars. I loved that she was affected by Gannon not because of his fame, but because of their connection and the attraction that had been there between them for so long. This is the first book that I have read by this author and will definitely not be the last.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Synopsis: Gannon Vaughn, the lead singer of rock band Awestruck who’s beloved the world over, was just rolled into town...the very same town where Adeline Green, his ex-bassist, old friend, and the girl who stole his heart, lives. When their paths collide for the first time in years, will sparks fly? Or will the ghosts of days gone by come back to haunt them?

Here we go again, writing a review literally only five minutes after finishing the book. (Do I procrastinate...or just work better under pressure? I’ll let the jury decide. *winks*) Fortunately, my thoughts on To Bring You Back are a little more defined. For example, I can tell you right of the bat that this was a solid story.

To be honest, the first half dragged and just seemed really repetitive—just Adeline whining about Gannon, mainly—BUT the second half picked up, weaving in many more elements and kicking things up a notch. In the end, the only qualm I have with the plot is that there were two issues (by the names of Harper and Matt) that were unresolved. My favorite part of the plot, though, was definitely the last ten percent...where Adeline and Gannon had a separation period. I used to hate them, because it seemed like the author was just dragging out the inevitable, but when done right (emphasis on right, because some people really do just drag it out), they’re actually very integral to the story, specifically character development and the romance.

This was one such case. Adeline and Gannon definitely needed some time off to complete their arcs—which were both so well-done! Even though I couldn’t connect with Adeline (like, at all), I still respected her and appreciated her struggles and her arc so much! (There was a reason for all that whining, believe it or not.) And Gannon! He was just the best. Crazily enough, I didn’t fall for him like I thought I would have...but I admired him SO MUCH! His character was the kind we rarely get to see—a genuine Christian male who’s imperfect but has a deep relationship with God. It seems like so many heroes in Christian fiction are missing one or more of those elements—either they’re entirely imperfect or entirely too sanctimonious. I need a realistic balance, and Gannon gave me that and more with his beautiful love for God and his nuggets of wisdom!

Granted, I felt like he could be a little gruff sometimes (not in the best way, though), which was probably for plot purposes…

The secondary characters? Spot-on! I can’t wait to read more about them!

The best part of all, though? The themes. They were exquisite. Conrad wasn’t afraid to ask hard questions or give tougher answers. She was biblical and honest about everything from sexual immorality to grace to repentance to living for God...and I loved it! I guess you’d call this story preachy because the themes were so obvious, but here’s the thing. It all entwined so well. The themes were made for the characters, for the story, for the plot...and not the other way around. It was perfectly woven together, and it flowed authentically!

(Because, yes, preachy doesn’t mean overtly Christian or full of sermons...it means droning on about issues that don’t actually pertain to the story. Like if a character went on a spiel about wearing masks when the story has nothing do to with that, and it’s obvious that the author is just using the character and the book to enforce their opinion. Make sense? Good. Glad we cleared that up.)

More than that, the themes and messages and character arcs were a part of the plot and premise and story...not a separate entity. Everything was interlaced perfectly, flowing together so smoothly! Considering most books seem to throw in a message or skimp on the character arc or change up the plot just because they can...I really, really appreciated that.

Y’all know what else I appreciated?

Premarital sex was portrayed as a sin. A grievous sin, in fact...but not an unforgivable one. I absolutely loved how Conrad gave Adeline and Gannon guilt, shame, and consequences to wrestle with, being honest about how sexual immorality affects you, those around you, and your relationship with God. I also loved how she didn’t just throw that in for scandalous backstory...it was the story. The message of hope, forgiveness, restoration, true grace...that was the story. And it was beautiful!

(Plus, no sexism here! Gannon and Adeline were both equally at fault, and the idea of Gannon having other flings wasn’t portrayed as “just what guys do” or “a part of life” or “something he regretted.” Gannon remained pure—which was amazing to see, even though he had sinned once before...which actually made that even more meaningful, in a way—and everyone acknowledged that premarital sex is downright wrong. Even if it’s a famous guy.)

Anyway. Rant over. *coughs*

On a technical level...the writing was great! Nothing to write home about, I suppose, but evenly balanced and smooth! Nothing seemed to be lacking or dry or stilted, which was lovely!

I will say this...I STILL possess this annoying pet peeve for stories about famous people—ESPECIALLY rock stars. For starters, rock was so twenty years ago (make that thirteen...2009 was the last good year rock had). I hate reading stories about rock musicians when the only famous rock musicians out there are the ones that have been around since 1986 (*glares at Goo-Goo Dolls*). When will we get stories about POP SINGERS, for gosh’s sake? Pop is what’s in style, people. Has been since—you guessed it—2009 and the dawn of mah man Justin Bieber.

(And all of this is coming from a girl who hates pop and listens to that lovely 2000s rock. My personal music tastes aside, I need realism.)

Still, my pet peeves don’t inhibit me from enjoying a good, strong story—which is exactly what To Bring You Back was! Everything, from the arcs to the themes to the pacing, was on-point, and it all came together to create a beautiful story about love and redemption!

(Seriously, though, what would it take to make these out-of-time rockstars real? I’d love some new quality rock music. Just sayin’. Speaking of...I totally need to make a soundtrack for this book. I’ve already got a few songs picked out. You’ll find two of them name-dropped in the synopsis I gave! Drop the titles in the comments if you found ‘em!)

Gannon Vaughn has replaced Michael Hosea as the ultimate book hero in my library. And that’s saying something. I also think Emily Conrad has become my favorite author. I’ve already bought the rest of this series and my standards for Christian fiction have risen significantly. This story was beautifully told and carefully crafted as it deals with grief, guilt, and grace. Gannon is our perfectly flawed hero on a mission to help Adeline heal from their shared tragedy and end his writer’s block. Adeline is a Christian who struggles to accept God’s perfect grace and live outside the shadow of her tragic past. This is a super slow burn between characters with serious chemistry who lean into God’s strength to overcome temptations. There are a million other things i can say but if you’re on the fence—read it!

To Bring You Back by Emily Conrad took me by surprise. This sizzling, second chance romance held my attention from the start. I loved every moment of the book, from the rocky reunion to the gritty middle to the beautiful ending. With an excellent exploration of what grace is and what it means for the Christian, the story held depth and beauty in addition to the romantic tension.

To Bring You Back by Emily Conrad introduces the Rhythms of Redemption Romance series and I can not wait to read more. The rest of the series is on my wish list. 4.5 stars!

Emily Conrad has graced us with such a beautiful story of redemption, grace, letting go, and giving all things to the Lord. She reminds readers that sometimes we can be our own worst enemies. But our works of today to try and make up for wrongs done in the past aren't the answer. God is. His forgiveness is. And sometimes, we even have to forgive ourselves. I had so many emotions going through my mind as I read this book. In one day mind you, thank you preorder option!

Full disclosure - there are some topics that may be hard for people to read. There is mention of drugs, sex (nothing at all explicit), and suicide. If those are possible triggers for you, I just want to put that out there. That being said, Conrad approaches these topics with such finesse, grace, and poise. The truth is, these are issues that plague our world today. We shouldn't ignore them or try to sweep them under the rug. And I love how Conrad deals with each of them. I can't go into detail, spoilers and all, but I can say that she really did a fabulous job of dealing with them.

Another thing Conrad is good at? Slow building romance. Oh I wanted there to be a kiss way before she provided it, and you know what? Her timing was so much better than mine! There is nothing wrong with a slow romance. In fact, it gives time for the characters to grow independently, which is exactly what Adeline and Gannon needed. Had Conrad just thrown them together too soon, it wouldn't have worked out that way. See, that's why she's an author, and I'm a reader. But seriously guys, Gannon is a swoon worthy hero, which doesn't surprised me because I absolutely adores Conrad's hero from a previous novel. He's got flaws, insecurities, and tends to sometimes act before totally thinking things through. But he's also loyal, almost to a fault. He tries to see the best in people. A musician and he has some tattoos. Sign me up! LOL Just kidding. Maybe.

At the end of the day, I am so glad that Conrad is writing again. I know it's been a couple of years since her last release, but wow this was worth the wait!!! I highly recommend reading this beautiful contemporary romance filled with grace, love, and redemption.

Emily is a compelling writer. This story, like her debut novel, possess authenticity and depth of enquiry about some hard questions. How does one accept God's forgiveness? How do you forgive yourself? What is grace? What does it mean to receive grace?

Some people may call it preachy, but I enjoy most the fact that the questions are answered with honesty and depth.

This is story about forgiveness, wrapped up in an uneasy romance which works only to make the message all the more colorful.

I look forward to the next book.

A second-chance romance with a redemption arc. I loved this. There was one thing I wasn’t the biggest fan of but we wouldn’t have a redemption story if we didn’t have that little bit.

Gannon comes back home after he learns from his drummer that a former friend is not doing good. Adeline is going through the motions and trying to work her way back into “good” favor with God.

I loved the faith in this story. It’s there from the beginning and isn’t rushed. Gannon is a perfect example of what a good Christian man should be like. He not only cares about Adeline’s normal well-being, he cares about her spiritual being as well. He makes sure she is right with God first. That is what made me fall in love with Gannon’s character.

The character growth between the two is also done well. I own the second book and will be picking that up soon. As of right now, I have to finish my February TBR.

Emily Conrad’s To Bring You Back is a poignant, powerful romance you won’t soon forget. Filled with Conrad’s special brand of thought-provoking themes and multi-layered characters, this story hits a home run for fans of Becky Wade while offering a depth not often seen in contemporary romances. The romance gives all the feels, but it’s so much more moving than many romances I’ve read thanks to the deep spiritual and emotional journey Conrad takes her characters on.

Adeline and Gannon are incredibly realistic, right down to the hardships they find themselves in (some of which are self-created). These people, like most of us, have made serious mistakes in their lives and now are left to struggle with guilt and remorse. They need to come face to face with themselves and their pasts to decide if they really believe in forgiveness and discover if redemption is possible for them.

I love the substance I always find in Conrad’s work, and this novel does not disappoint. But I also love the other special elements Conrad brings to her stories. Her descriptions and details are so real that I felt like I was at the hot dog food truck smelling the grease and that I was in the room when raw musical creations were eked out, spawned by pain and love.

And speaking of love, I fell in love with the distinct and fully drawn secondary characters—especially John, one of the Awestruck band members.

Another thing that that made this romance stand out to me was that the romance of Adeline and Gannon isn’t based on a shallow, physical attraction that one doubts will continue. Rather, this is a relationship that is fought for and built on a solid foundation, topped with all the romance and passion, that readers can be sure will last well beyond the final page.

Lastly, but first in my appreciation, is that Conrad also interweaves a powerful spiritual thread that realistically portrays characters speaking and thinking of Christ, sin, forgiveness, and redemption. This is true Christian fiction at its best.

This is a terrific launch to the Rhythms of Redemption Romance Series, and I can’t wait to read about all the other band members in future releases!

A sweet romance with a solid message

Emily Conrad wove together a fun story that brought LA to a small town in Wisconsin. The premise and characters were obviously crafted with care and sincerely endearing.

I enjoyed reading a story that didn't tie everything up perfectly right away, but allowed the characters to grow in a
realistic time frame.

I also appreciated message of grace and forgiveness.

It's worth the read.

Conrad’s story follows a couple whose past includes some parallels with David and Bathsheba’s story and presents their own journey to healing. One rock star and one seemingly a nobody, this couple struggles to find a second chance at love because one can’t forgive herself and the other keeps trying to fix others’ problems. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more by this author.

I’ve never read a book with such a unique plot and characters. Gannon and Adeline were incredibly vivid characters, and I loved the chance to grow with them so personally. The depth that the author writes these characters is so memorable. Though this was a romance, the spiritual and emotional growth that the reader witnesses in these characters is what the story is all about. Dealing also with mental health, the reader gets to see raw pain transform into God’s glory. The musical elements blended into this book was just magical: not too much, not too little.

Conrad makes God the true center of Gannon and Adeline’s relationship, a way I’ve never seen in a Christian romance before. I loved witnessing how God uses people and relationships to heal and encourage others. Yes this is a romance, but this story is more about our love story with God. The title for this book is perfect.

The writing was powerful and strong. I’m going to be reading more of Conrad’s books. Also, who doesn’t love a rock star romance? Go read this book!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. I never pick up romance novels on my own, and I read this one because my book club chose it. Someone else described this as a "slow burn" romance, and I find that to be an apt description. Nothing is rushed here. Nonetheless, I found the characters and their interactions compelling, and the focus on pursuing God before all else--even the romance--both encouraging and challenging on a personal level. The book also felt...real, for lack of a better word. Yes, the female lead is in love with a famous rock star, which is not real for most of us, but the story does not gloss over the difficulties its characters face, and money and fame cause more problems than they solve in the narrative. While the ending is happy, it isn't happy for everyone, and not everyone finds Christ. I appreciated that level of pragmatism.

All in all, I had a very enjoyable time reading this, and my bedtime has suffered this week because there were times when I couldn't put it down! Since this is listed as book #1, I may have to give up my never-reading-romances stance to check out what follows.

If you love contemporary inspirational romance, this is the book for you! If you love music and rock stars (and who doesn't?), this is the book for you. It was fun to read about the behind-the-scenes life of a rock star, and the spiritual journey the characters went through made me pause and think about my own.

In To Bring You Back, Emily Conrad gives readers a genuine look into the chains of shame and the exhaustion of holding onto the past. Of maintaining a mask so others don’t see your failings. The author also takes that guilt, shame, and pain and turns it into something beautiful.

Gannon and Adeline are broken people. They’ve done things they’re not proud of. They are trying to live better lives, though in different ways. And I rooted for them to heal—to heal together and carve a happy future for the two of them.

Conrad tackles topics like drugs, alcohol, sex, and mental illness with a gentle hand that speaks the truth in love instead of raining judgment down on these characters. The reconciliation and redemption in this story are so prominent, so well written, that it shines the light on the miracles that God works in relationships and lives.

Add to that the rock star element and the slow-burn romance, and the author hit all the right notes in this story.

Hi friends👋
Imma give this one a 3.5⭐️ I thoroughly enjoyed the development of both these characters and loved how they grew together. I also loved the message in this book about how Jesus paid the price so that we can live guilt free and let go of our sins of the past. It shows that there is redemption for everyone, no matter how challenging it is to block out our past. It was something I really needed to hear.

However, I do feel some of the characters were a bit immature for this type of novel. These characters also too were inconsistent with the theme of the novel, which I understand may have been the authors point; however, I do feel these characters and their dialogue weakened the power of this novel. I also wish that some characters were included throughout the book more frequently, like Addie’s parents or Gannon’s mom.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would love to pick up some other novels written by this author! Love me a clean/closed-door novel with entertaining, pure romance😍😍😍

I haven’t read a Christian romance novel before. And this one hit it out of the park. I can easily say in my top 5 best romance novels. The struggle to understand forgiveness and heal from the past is so real. I loved the way Gannon continued to pursue and love Addie. And Addie trying to figure it all out! I actually couldn’t stop reading it once I was half way through. Jumping on to the next book NOW!

This story floored me.
There is so much to learn here. So much goodness -even when it's hard.
Emily wrote an incredible story of spiritual healing that is true to the Christian life. Guilt can falsely motivate us to try and just do and act better and try to earn salvation. However, that's not the freedom or redemption that Christ offers. His offering is so much greater than that
Adeline and Gannon's story involves healing deep wounds, seeking forgiveness of sin, and choosing Christ above all. My heart ached with them through their journey, but the joy and healing were incredibly fulfilling.
Excellent slow burn. So well done.

WOW. Why did I wait so long to read this book??? I won't make that mistake again! Need a call to action? Read this. It's deep. I NEVER write in my books, but I underlined quote after quote in this one.

Read it!

I seriously loved this book. I could not put it down! The fact that the book left off with a cliffhanger made we want to read the rest. I love that there was an internal struggle that focused on God and redemption. Seriously love this author and will most likely read all the others! Highly recommend!
