Kara has been counting the days until she return to her hometown for Christmas. Ten years ago her Aunt left town, but in her heart Kara knew that wasn't true. While Kara is back home they find her Aunt's car in a deep ravine with the body inside. The officer at the scene is someone who broke Kara's heart many years ago. Sean the police officer has never forgiven himself for ruining his relationship with Kara. Soon a series of break-ins and assaults start to happen.

About the author

Elizabeth Penney lives in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, where she pens novels and tries to grow things. Elements that often appear in her novels include old houses and gardens, past/present mysteries, and the arts. Maine, where she grew up, England, and Italy are favorite settings.

Elizabeth is the author of several mystery series from St. Martin's as well as over fifty novels, short stories, and hundreds of business articles. A former consultant and nonprofit executive, she holds a BS and an MBA. She's also written screenplays with her musician husband.

She loves walking in the woods, kayaking on quiet ponds, trying new recipes, and feeding family and friends.

A good Christmas or anytime read. A nice mix of romance and mystery. Light easy read. I enjoy the books in Anne's Sweet Intrigue series. They are fun and good clean cozy mysteries.
