Kurt Cobain: A Life from Beginning to End

Rate this book
Discover the remarkable life of Kurt Cobain...Free BONUS Inside! In the 27 years that Kurt Cobain walked this earth, he crafted the songs and the narrative that would become the anthem of a generation. Yet, it was never anything that Cobain set to do deliberately; if anything, he could be called an accidental genius. Cobain’s approach to art as well as life was one flowing stream of consciousness. He never set out to change a generation when he wrote songs like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” or “Come as You Are.” He simply played music, letting his subconscious mind run wild as he wrote vague yet piercingly memorable lyrics. Still, Kurt Cobain most certainly did change the world, and even decades later, his words resonate with incredible clarity. Here in this book, you will find the story of his life and his tragic death in full.Discover a plethora of topics such asA Troubled ChildhoodFrom Guns to Global SuccessThe Reluctant SuperstarMarriage to Courtney LoveDisappearance and DeathAnd much more!So if you want a concise and informative book on Kurt Cobain, simply scroll up and click the "Buy now" button for instant access!

All the way until the end, Cobain lived a life of seeming contradictions- contradictions that irked him to no end. In his death, Cobain seemed to be seeking an escape from a world that no longer made much sense to him.

Kurt Cobain

It was interesting but not that much to tell, he didn't have longevity. Still a good read for any music fan.

“Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.”

Kurt Cobain lived a sad and eccentric life. Right from his parent's divorce, he had troubles talking about his feelings and interacting with people. He gave away his emotions through music, and that was the kind of music he played. His young life came into play when he suddenly committed suicide. This book gives a big walkthrough of his life, and I really liked the book.

Troubled mind

This was a sad man and story. There are so many mental health issues that he was battling. I don't know if he was trying to get help or not. It seems that he might not have been diagnosed correctly, or at all, for some of his issues. He seemed compassionate at times but then he was such a narcissist at times. Bipolar disorder plus a few other issues, perhaps. The drugs and alcohol just made it worse. He seemed to be fairly intelligent, it's sad he didn't apply it to his own well being. I've never been a fan of his music, this book didn't change my mind, but I can still have compassion for this tragic life.

When Kurt Cobain killed himself in 1994, it was a big deal.  I really didn't know much more about him.  Reading about his life, Kurt seems to have been a very troubled individual. From what I've read about Courtney Love, she couldn't have helped him because she was/is a hot mess herself. I remember after Kurt's death, there were some trying to blame his death on Courtney.  However, it is hard to think that way when she was in LA and he was in Seattle (with a gun).

After going to listen to a couple of the songs mentioned in this bio, I recognized that Nirvana was a major force in music.  After listening, I cannot imagine why. Kurt's not a particularly good singer and the music is very dissonant (sorry, I'm too old for this type of music).

I was surprised that nothing was said about the daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.  I read elsewhere that she is a visual artist and model and about 28-years old. I was also surprised that nothing more was said about the band.  Is it still working? Did they get a new frontman?  Do they still tour?  Did Courtney Love keep her child?  It was all over the papers that she was a committed druggie and I wondered if the authorities took the child from her. There were lots of things I wondered about after reading this.  On another site, I read that Frances owns the rights to her father's likeness, etc.

Often when a celebrity loses their life at the height of their fame there is a mystique about them that becomes larger than their life. I knew nothing about Kurt Cobain, I was not a Nirvana fan, and yet I'd heard him, his death, his wife Courtney Love, and on and on. I picked up this book to fill in my knowledge gaps. I'm glad I read it because there is a lot of information in this short biography. Cobain was a quiet, sensitive child with an imaginary friend. His childhood was difficult, largely due to difficulties with both parents. He basically became homeless at age 18, couch surfing at his friends house to get by. He wasn't movitivated to get a job but he was rather forced to. He found solace in his music, and while he thought he wanted fame he was totally unprepared for it. He seemed to be a loving parent and yet his was a terrible parent because of his drug use. It is ironic and tragic that his fame grew even after his death. This book was worth the read.

I pick up these Hourly books when I see a subject that interests me. Even though they are short, it’s a good way to learn the basics about a subject or person. I usually rate them *** because they are what they are, and you don’t pick them up expecting great literature.

But this one was just so terribly written! The bad writing distracted me so much I couldn’t focus on the subject. I would have learned as much with much less effort from Wikipedia.

About the subject - I had forgotten just how short Cobain’s trajectory had been from nobody to superstar to dead. What a tragedy.

The greater question is “why”?

Honestly, I’ve never given much thought to Kurt Cobain. I knew he was a front man for Nirvana and I knew that Nirvana is popular in the early 1990s. I also knew that Kurt committed suicide when he was only 27. Seems that many popular musicians, Rockstars, either overdosed or committed suicide for one reason or another at the age of 27.
I am very pleased that I picked up this “hourly history” and learned a bit more about Cobain. Who knew!

From small township struggles to worldwide success.

A mixed up personality from a broken family life. A self taught genius who finally makes it big,but struggles to deal with the consequences of the riches and fame.
Such a sad outcome for someone who’s state of mind was so mixed up.And had the chance of a comfortable, worry free, happy family life in front of him.

Good Read

I was a fan of Nirvana once I heard Nevermind. All of their albums became favorites and the news of Kurt Cobain's death was sad and impactful on me. This provided some information I wasn't familiar about him as a child and young adult. The content of the letter is sad and very Kurt. He was so impactful in such a short period of time.

This 33-page book gives us a quick overview of Cobain’s life. He had a difficult childhood but found music which was a good outlet for his angst. It’s sad that his life ended so early. There’s not much depth or insight in this short biography but it was still interesting.

Good reading

I learned a lot that I didn't know about Kurt Cobain. Social media has a very strong impact on so many people in the spotlight. All your faults for everyone to see. At the time we didn't hear much of a story just bits and pieces that had many untruths.

To be honest this book makes Cobain seem rather annoying and overly dramatic.

Talented and creative, sure, but a very difficult person to live and deal with who had some serious issues.

I am sure there's more to him than that but this work doesn't do a great job of explaining that.

Contain - a lost soul

A very troubled youth led to a serious drug and alcohol problem which ended a Grundge legacy. Perhaps it was the desire to commit suicide as the same age as other notable performers.

sad but true

He fought a battle within himself that he could never win . Two sides fighting each other and one would win but he had no control over which side that would be. His demons won.

Honestly I don't think I really knew much about Kurt Cobain until I read this. What a troubles soul. He knew how his life would play out and yet he did nothing to prevent it.

Very short

I read this quickly and I don't believe everything here. I do think that Kurt and Courtney had a troubled relationship. Both used each other in the end.

It was a good summary of Kurt Cobain's life, nothing super deep.
