Kyron swore he wouldn’t work with dogs anymore, but, when Badger asks him to go home to Aspen and to track a missing War Dog, who is missing her left leg—as he is—Kyron can’t refuse. Even if it means seeing his brother and his wife again. Not that he had anything against them. Kyron just couldn’t deal with his parents. Finding the dog seems like the easiest part of returning to Aspen, until Kyron realizes a rescue run by a fascinating woman is the one that’s spotted the missing dog, … only the dog isn’t alone … Miranda spends every waking moment working to keep her animals safe. Two jobs keeps them in food and shelter but not much more. Considering her miserable neighbor is always making complaints about her, she has considered moving, but it is too expensive to make that happen. She has seen a three-legged canine hanging around the back perimeter of her property and had been feeding it, quietly knowing it resembled the dog the neighbor had brought home, until it ran away. She had no intention of letting her neighbor or anyone else know about the dog, hoping to coax it onto her property, where she could look after it properly. However, then Kyron showed up, searching for the animal, and things got really ugly …

This is the fifteenth book in Dale Mayer's K9Files series, each one as heartwarming as the last. Kyron Edgewater had sustained life changing injuries whilst on a mission as a navy SEAL, his life was in turmoil, he had no direction. When he was offered the chance to go to Aspen to look for a war dog that had gone off the radar Kyron was unsure, he had given up working with K9 war dogs because he couldn't stand to see them getting hurt, also his estranged family lived in Aspen, he had never felt part of the family, his parents favoured his brother and didn't bother to hide it. Kyron couldn't stand by and see a dog who had served his country possibly be abandoned in the cold Aspen winter so he took up the challenge. This story follows Kyron's search for Beth the war dog with one leg missing, his meeting with Miranda Galloway, an animal lover who had filled her home with a menagerie of different animals that needed rehoming, none would be turned away, the threats of violence and worse from Miranda's crazy next door neighbour, the anger and frustration at the lack of action from the police department, Kyron's coming to terms with his dysfunctional family and memories of his beloved grandfather and lastly the inevitable romance between Miranda and Kyron and their shared dreams. This story had me gripped from the beginning.

So many layers in this story with characters both human and animal. Kyron doesn't have much of a relationship with his family and certainly it's toxic with some members. But it doesn't stop him from returning home to help a missing war dog, he finds way more than that and just maybe in the end he can salvage a bit of family. Even Miranda has similar issues though not quite as toxic with most of her family, her Grandma is her saving grace and a long lost relative helps out of the blue and at a time she really needs it. Both characters love animals but Miranda goes above and beyond to help, something that is not appreciated by some. I found this intense, emotional and scary but also incredibly frustrating. Anyone who is an animal lover and reads this will understand what I mean. Beth is an amazing dog with such empathy and compassion, I absolutely adored her. It's an edge of your seat read because of what is going on and the action and suspense that surrounds them. Despite all that we get glimpses of humour and a building friendship that you just know is going to turn into so much more, when they get time to stop and breathe a bit. As the story progressed I figured out what needed to happen for all to be safe and thankfully Kyron figured some stuff out as well. These two are a fabulous match right along with the menagerie that comes with Miranda and those that will come along in their future, I'd love to be a fly on the wall or even be there to help as that comes to be. I loved how strong and fiercely protective Miranda is of the animals, her heart is big enough for them all and is just the person they need on their side. I'm just glad Kyron's is equally as big. Wonderful, inspiring and tense story right from the start, that lasts right to the end, this is a five star plus for me. Started and finished 6/2/22
Kyron goes home to look for a War Dog named Beth that went missing. He knew his family was a problem. Miranda was the good thing in all the mess. Great reading.
It's Kyron's mission to check on a retired injured war-dog that has been reported missing and it's in his hometown where hard feelings in his family still exist 'till this day. While searching Beth-this war dog, Kyron met this wonderful animal rescuer Miranda, yup this is where the sparks starts, I usually not a big fan of insta-love but with similar past and both an animal lover it felt like they're perfect together and totally needed each other. Like I said this one felt really sweet for me. Then add suspense with crazy neighbour and so many toxic people that got me really pissed off and totally get it why Kyron don't want to go back here in the first place, then it became a very enjoyable entertaining read. It's predictable and the repititions a bit bothering me but still I really enjoyed this one, an animal rescue story mixed with a neighbour from hell, family drama and a cute insta-love meant-to-be romance. It's so easy-to-read and so many angst and suspense that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Definitely recommended this book to anyone who's looking for a fast-paced easy-to-read roamntic suspense read.
Once again Badger has to convince someone to go look for a missing war dog. This one disappeared a couple of months ago, the adoptive family said the dog was becoming aggressive as well. They didn't report it either.
Kyron's the perfect person for this job, he has family in Aspen, Colorado where the dog was last seen. He had left the K9 unit before he was injured, he couldn't handle the death. Badger had just the right thing to lure him in though, the dog, Beth, is missing a leg, just like Kyron.
Kyron knew he was going to look for Beth, even though the chances of finding any signs of her were slim. It also meant seeing his brother Allen and his wife Sandra, hopefully that would go well. He wasn't close to his family, he always hung out with his grandfather, and since his parents were angry with the man, Kyron was considered a traitor of sorts. This was made even worse when he went into the military instead of law enforcement like his father.
Miranda Galloway works two jobs to support her unofficial animal shelter. She has a good size property and one of her neighbors lets her use a pasture and barn for the larger animals that were left with her. Her other neighbor, old man Brant Macintyre wasn't as nice. At some point the man had found a dog with a missing leg. When the dog ran away, he told her in no uncertain terms not to feed it. Of course, she wasn't going to listen to that nonsense and was actively trying to coax the dog to her. He also made a habit of calling the city on her since she really wasn't a licensed animal rescue or shelter.
Her grandmother is a big supporter where the rest of her family isn't. She even has a great uncle out there somewhere who her grandmother has encouraged to help her as well. He's cut her a large donation and wants to visit as well.
When a pallet of dog food arrives from one of the vendors of the clinic, things start to get interesting. Kyron's investigation leads him to her as she's moving the food to her garage. They strike up a conversation about her animals as Kyron helps her with securing the food. He finds Miranda has been looking for the dog and leaving food out for her and they learn much about each other as they share coffee after the work is done.
For Kyron the family stuff gets worse, for Miranda her neighbor gets more dangerous, for the dogs their lives improve.
After shots are fired, injuring one of the dogs, Kyron is faced with a dilemma. He can't bring the dogs to his brother's. Miranda is more than willing but the neighbor is escalating. She's looking for a larger property and a quick sale to get away from the dangers to herself and the animals. It's then that Kyron remembers the property his grandfather left him.
For Kyron the family stuff gets worse, for Miranda her neighbor gets more dangerous, for the dogs and the other animals their lives improve.
I love these War Dog stories, they are heartfelt and heart wrenching, full of action, but so satisfying in the end.
I enjoy how each member of the group is matched with a dog that has similar issues, like they are tailor made for each other without knowing it.
Kyron is sent to Aspen, where he grew up, to look for Beth, the War Dog, who has gone missing from her adoptive home. On this trip, Kyron is also reuniting with his brother, Allen and Sister-in-Law, Sandra, after being out of touch for several years while he was recovering from injuries while in the Navy. Even though going back to his hometown will be uncomfortable, the need to search for Beth has given him a reason to come back.
I appreciate Miranda’s love of animals and her compassion and dedication towards their care, no matter what kind of animal it is and what it may cost her in terms of money or comfort. I also commiserate with her dislike of her nasty neighbor. His type needs to be avoided as much as possible to ensure her own safety and that of the animals in her care..
I love Kyron’s immediate protectiveness of Miranda when he witnesses the neighbor’s abusive actions towards her and animals on and around her property. Kyron’s attitude makes the reader want to rally around the couple and make sure this neighbor gets his due with the law. As the verbal and physical abuse escalate against Kyron and Miranda, I find myself wanting to help them obtain their unspoken objective, which is kick this guy’s arrogant butt! I am glad they were able to move Miranda’s animals into a safer environment and hope that the neighbor does not find them. I can’t help feeling frustrated and disgruntled at Allen, a local police officer, with his lack of motivation and empathy to help Miranda when Kyron called him, as well as the other officers in the department with their lack of interest when she called into the police department on several occasions to complain about this dangerous man and situation. Since she couldn’t provide any proof of abuse, they couldn’t be bothered!
There is so much going on here that I can’t help but be a cheerleader for Kyron & Miranda. There are some sweet secrets and unexpected champions. This is one story you won’t put down until it’s finished!
Dale Mayer’s current book in her “.K-9 Files” series is an exciting and heart-warming story. It is about Miranda and Kyron, two lovable, three-dimensional characters who both grew up with contentious parents.
Miranda loves animals! Because of that, her goal in life is to rescue all abandoned and injured animals she sees. She takes care of them until they are ready to leave. Then, she attempts to find good homes for them. As a result, she has “hundreds” of animals in her house. Her parents do not understand what she is doing, so they refuse to accept her and her choice.
Kyron’s parents have always openly favored his older brother over him. His only solace was when he would visit his grandfather, who his parents also dislike. When Kyron joined the Navy, his parents disapproved. Since then, he has not spoken to his parents or his brother. When Kyron is severely injured on a mission, his parents ignore him because they feel that was to be expected in the Navy.
Kyron is sent to Aspen to find a retired K-9 dog that is missing. He is distraught about returning his hometown because that is where his parents and his brother’s family still live. But, he agrees. He meets Miranda, where they discover that the two of them have a lot in common.
Unfortunately, there is a villain in this story, Miranda’s neighbor. He hates her and her menagerie of animals. He threatens to kill her animals if she does not get rid of all of them.
Kyron’s story is an exciting romantic suspense book has nonstop action and many violent attacks between this sensitive couple and her evil neighbor.
What can I say? I love a good story about a dog. This is another hit in Dale Mayer’s K-9 files series. The series is about making sure that retired military K9s are being taken care of and treated well. In this case the Kyron is sent to Aspen to find a dog, Beth. Kyron is on the outs with his family but decides to stay with his brother. His brother’s wife wants Kyron to mend the rift with his family. Kyron just wants to find Beth and be on his way. While looking for Beth Kyron meets Miranda. Miranda shelters rescued animals and was leaving food out for a dog living in the woods. When she tells Kyron, that the dog might be Beth, he goes to see if he can find Beth near the spot where she put out food. He finds Beth who has become buddies with another dog. While he tries to build trust with Beth shots are fired and the dogs take off. Miranda’s neighbor threatens to kill her and all her animals. Tensions escalate when the neighbor takes shots at the animals and Miranda. When Kyron finds out about it, he is determined to protect Beth as well as Miranda. Kyron accepts that the rift between his family will never be mended, but after meeting Miranda realizes that maybe he will stay in Aspen after all.

Kyron goes back to his home in Aspen to find missing retired war dog Beth. There he finds Miranda who runs an unofficial animal rescue and has been feeding Beth who is not alone but also does not seem bold enough to come onto her property yet. Miranda does two jobs so she can feed the animals she is responsible for but as it is too expensive in the area for her to move she is stuck coping with her miserable neighbour who complains about her and her animals. When Kyron turns up looking for the three-legged dog she has been feeding things with the guy next door start to get really ugly!
I enjoyed this story with the emotional aspects of Kyron returning home and his relationship with his family as well as the fractured relationship between Miranda and her neighbour. I did find her determination to care for so many animals hard to relate to as I could never do anything like that myself but it did make for an interesting story. There was definitely plenty of drama and danger in the story and I loved the way that Kyron stepped up and did his best to keep her and the animals safe. Contains a little sexual content at the end of the story.

Both Kyron and Miranda have been disappointed by their immediate family, both know rejection and heartache when the people who are supposed to live you the most…turn their backs. Now that Kyron is back in his hometown searching for a war dog gone missing he does not relish seeing his brother or his parents again. His brother tries to make amends but it may be too late. Miranda only has her grandma’s support, otherwise she is on her own running an animal rescue in her own home with her own money. She needs more land and a bigger house for all her animals and will not turn down an animal in need. When she spots an animal behind her house, she tries to coax it to show themselves, but with a crazy neighbour who has no problems shooting at animals, it’s harder. Until Kyron shows up and the animal she has spotted just may be the dog he’s looking for. A great read with a bit of steam, some suspense, surprises and great characters. I love the no drama and how easily they fit together. Miranda has a back bone and will do anything for animals and Kyron has the same soft spot. They are both who they are with no apologies…loved it. The story flowed nicely and it’s one of my favourites from this series. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Maybe I should have skipped this one in the series. It was over the top with issues including a family member with a high risk pregnancy that doesn't seem to have any problems but gets mentioned several times just to add to the drama. The villain doesn't seem to have any motivation other than to be the villain. We never find out what the first family teenager did to the war dog or how the villain got ahold of her. Worse yet, the "heroine" is portrayed as a great gal who rescues any animal even when she can't afford to care for them all. Living in a neighborhood with laws about how many animals you can have. There is a name for people who keep taking in animals without the ability to care for them. They are called "collectors" and the animals frequently have to be removed by legitimate rescue groups. In the end, she moves to a bigger location that she knows she will fill with more animals. Still with no way to afford them. Grr. She bad mouths realtors as vultures just out for money. Umm, maybe they expect to be paid for the service they provide so they can pay their bills? This is the first book by the author I didn't enjoy, so I will read on. If this is your first introduction to the author, please give her another chance.
When Kyron was asked by his boss Badger if he had any k9 experience he said yes until he didnt when Badger asked he said he got tired of the loss and injuries an was told not to love the dogs because they would get new handlers. So Badger told him about the war dog that was missing. He said hed be on the next flight out.Kyron wasnt really happy his brother showed up an was taking him to his house on the way he told him his wife was seven months pregnant an please dont upset her shes high risk right now.Later as Kyron was out looking for the dog when he met Miranda she said she might have seen the dog that shed been putting food out for it everynight. As danger keeps getting worse an Miranda called Kyron saying she thinks the dog was shot he rushed back an realized Beth an a friend she was bonded with.Beth wasnt shot but her friend was so they rushed the dog to the vet an he worked to save the dogs life. There are so many twists an turns to this story you will be riveted til the very last page.

Kyron not only has a broken body, but also a broken relationship with his family but decides it is time to return home in order to find Beth the war dog he relates to as she is also missing a leg. Miranda is similar to Kyron where she relates more to animals than human including her family apart from her Grandma who wants to help her look after herself as well as the animals she takes in. I really liked how Miranda was wary of Kyron at first and then how they became close by just hanging out and talking to get to know each other which in turn made them open up about their struggles and start to move on from what's held them back. I was furious at the antics of her next door neighbour though and totally agreed with Kyron's frustration at the police and especially when he went to see his brother. These books have danger in them, but boy this one had soo many close calls for Kyron and Miranda that I really did worry whether they would come out of things unscathed!!

Kyron by Dale Mayer The K9 Files Series Book Fifteen Kyron Edgewater is uncertain where life is taking him. His parents more or less wrote him off for joining the navy and getting injured. So when Badger asks him to go to Aspen, where he’s from, to look for a War Dog, he agrees. But, unexpectantly, he finds more than Beth, the dog. Miranda Galloway is over her head. She can’t say no to any animal, but her home and acreage space is filling up. And her neighbor isn’t helping matters. The older man is always crabbing at her or calling the police on her critters. And then, he takes it a step too far. Kyron doesn’t plan on staying in the area, but when he meets Miranda and sees she’s in trouble, he has to help her. And she helps him to see what a gift his beloved grandfather had left him…a home. He hadn’t even been to it in the ten years since his grandpa passed. Maybe, with the help of this remarkable woman, he can find a home and a purpose after all. **Sexual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Retired Navy Seal Kyron is coming to terms with his changed lifestyle. He needs to find a purpose. A good friend asks for his help to find a missing K9 war dog.
If these highly trained K9s are lucky enough to retire from active duty, they often face the same mental or physical after-effects as their human colleagues. Finding a good home for these doggy heroes is important and sometimes difficult.
Miranda has an abiding love for all animals, and is unable to turn away any in need of help. Consequently her home has turned into an unofficial rescue center. That takes up every hour in the day, every penny she earns and still it's not enough.
This is an emotional romantic suspense with absolutely fabulous characters. I fell in love with them all from the beginning. They face more danger than you will expect in a normal modern town. Good neighbors make good friends, but what do bad neighbors make????
This is part of a large series but each book can be easily be read on it's own.
Kyron is the fifteenth book in The K9 Files series by Dale Mayer. Kyron has gone home to Aspen in the hopes of finding a mission War Dog. Kyron spends time with his brother and sister in law but the relationship with his family is strained at the best of times. While looking for the War Dog Kyron meets Miranda who runs a small rescue on her own. Miranda tells Kyron she has been putting food out for a dog that appears to be afraid of coming to close so Kyron goes looking. Miranda has a crazy neighbor who wants her and her animals gone. He will go to any length to get rid of them. When he shots at the War Dog and hits her companion instead Kyron steps in and gets the injured dog to a veterinarian Miranda works for. When Miranda's crazy neighbor steps up his attacks on Miranda and Kyron the police just brush if off as a neighborly dispute. Will Kyron be able to keep Miranda, the War Dog and her companion as well as Miranda's animals safe from her neighbor? Drastic steps need to take place to make that a reality. I loved this book, the characters are amazing and the story is original.
Although Kyron had no plans to return to his hometown that decision changed when he is asked to search for Beth, a missing K9. He has always had a special affinity for the animals who served so there was no way he could say no even if it meant seeing the family he distanced himself from. When he arrives, his investigation leads him to Miranda however the closer he gets to Beth the more the threat increases.
Miranda has a huge heart when it comes to animals, and she will do everything she can to keep them safe and provided for. She works multiple jobs to support the animals she looks after and tells Kyron she has seen a dog matching Beth’s description. She has been at odds with her neighbor, but he is about to take it to a new level that not only places Beth in jeopardy but herself as well.
Kyron and Miranda take us on an action packed journey as they are brought together by their mutual love of animals and find the future they both deserve in each other.
Kyron is sent to find Beth. Beth is a 3 legged Malinois, and she's missing after being adopted out through the war dogs program. Miranda runs an animal rescue, and is doing everything she can to keep her animals safe, which isn't easy with a crazy neighbour that's dangerous. Kyron and Miranda have a lot in common.. not only are they both animal/dog lovers, but they both come from pretty dysfunctional family environments. This book had all the elements for a stay up all night reading binge. The k-9 series by Dale Mayer is one of my favourites. Who doesn't love a great story about rescuing dogs that served for the military, and when you add in a love connection.. well you know you're going to love the novel.
Pulled, tugged and tangled my heart. Love any K9 this one had dysfunctional families, rescue trying to survive, our wounded ex seal and of course a psycho antagonist. The struggle to help animals that are dumped, is real. The dysfunctional families are real and heart breaking. The joy that Miranda (or animal rescue woman) exudes along with her intelligence just warmed my heart. The similarities between Kyron and Miranda made it a win win for this to develop into a true relationship. Lets not forget about Beth, those dogs are beautiful and intelligent and I am in love:) Thank you for the arc, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. I highly recommend this to any one who loves animals, women with gumption and wounded ex seals.
I really enjoyed reading KYRON . This is book fifteen in the K9 Files Series . Kyron returns to his home town Aspen . His job is to find and make sure a missing three legged war dog named Beth is ok . Kyron does not have a good relationship with his family . Miranda is running an unlicensed animal rescue . It is a struggle to care for the animals financially and her insane neibor sure does not help . Kyron tracks the missing war dog Beth to Miranda and as the search for her the two get to know each other . The situation gets dier and danger escalates . Kyron and Miranda grow closer . This story is so action packed. It is fast paced and full of suspense . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Yet another book where looking for a war dog has lots of twists and turns and the baddies in the world getting their just dues. The two, Kyron and Miranda both prefer animals to people. Kyron has family who just don't seem to have changed much no matter how much they say they have. An interfering sister in-law certainly doesn't make things easier even if she is well meaning. Miranda has a neighbour from hell who is hell bent on running her off her property and is gun happy too. The dog, Beth, is found but she has a friend who she is taking care of. These two dogs can’t be separated. Beth, when the time is right executes her attack to save Miranda from being killed. I found this book to be a good read and enjoyed that both were so in tune with one another. A better display of insta-love which seems more plausible. A good read for those who enjoy the animal aspect and drama, suspense and intrigue. It will keep you reading to the end.
Kyron, is a medically discharged Navy SEAL. He's slowly finding his way back to social situations, although he really prefers animals to humans. He has no intention of returning to his hometown of Aspen, CO, until he's asked to find a missing war dog. He returns to Aspen hoping to find Beth, the war dog, and maybe reconnect with estranged brother. What he finds is Miranda, an animal loving but stressed rescuer of animals of all types. She's also the victim of a terrorising dangerous neighbor and an indifferent police force. Natural protector that he is, Kyron joins with Miranda to save her, her animals and her wanna be rescue home. And she helps him find Beth, and more. Much, much more.
Due to the heartbreak of losing war dogs, Kyron is at first resistant to searching for the war dog Beth. Kyron also has concerns about reconnecting with his dysfunctional family. Miranda is barely holding on to her animal rescue. Her crazy neighbor is threatening to shoot her animals. Kryon and Miranda's path cross over the war dog. As the danger escalates for Miranda and her animals, Kryon tries to help. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is a suspenseful and interesting story. Miranda's neighbor really has it in for her. Kryon walks a fine line with dealing with her neighbor and the local law enforcement. I love seeing the war dog adopting and caring for another dog.
I love these series of books. I get taken on an awesome journey each time I read one. Kyron is sent back to Aspen and the u happy childhood he faced there. With a War dog to find, he isn’t sure where to start. Although a trip to see his brother is a starter. Miranda owns a local shelter and has been ostracised by her parents who won’t do as they say. They come together to find the dog but danger is never far behind. Lives are out on the line and it’s Kyron who finds fault with the local police. I just couldn’t get enough of this book. It was so brilliant and now I want to read The next story.
Kyron why looking for Beth the 3 legged K9, has him going home to a place he never wanted to go. Trying to rebuild his relationship with his brother, his sister-in-law wants more with including her parent in laws which is something Kyron doesn't want at all. Miranda is an animal rescue who he turns to for help looking for Beth. But Miranda has her own problems which soon becomes Kyrons as well. Death threats to them and the animals Kyron takes charge and moves things out to his property but trouble follows them. A wide ride is ensured, a page turner which showcases a love story, a very lovely read.
This is a wonderful read from the K-9 Files series with Kyron going home to Aspen to check on the status of a missing war dog - Beth, who is missing a leg. I knew as soon as I started reading that I wouldn't be able to put the book down until I read the last word with the suspense, danger, action and emotional romance between Kyron and Miranda who rescues animals. If you enjoy well written military romance that pulls at your heart, don't miss Kyron, Book 15 in the must-read K-9 Files series by gifted author Dale Mayer. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Just love this series, not least of all because it shows disabilities in as positive light as possible. Anything can be achieved with determination and a positive disposition.
This one tells the story of Kyron on the hunt for a War Dog named Beth who has disappeared in Kyron's home town of Aspen. This leads him to meeting Miranda, a determined lady who rescues abandoned and abused animals. The two cross paths several times before they start working as a team to protect Beth from her mean vindictive neighbour.
It becomes apparent that they need to move away from the neighbour in order to ensure very ones well being.
Edge of seat reading that will keep you entertained and swept up in the suspense. Beth is the war dog Kyron has gone to find, she only has 3 legs from being injured as a K-9. But the big surprise is who she has with her. There's a really nasty neighbor nextdoor to Miranda who causing all kinds of trouble. Kyron's family is a piece of work, especially his brother being a cop and they haven't done anything about what's been happening to Miranda. Excellent read. HEA. Kyron is sent to Aspen to find a missing war dog. During his search he sees a large pallet of dog food on a drive way where a sweaty woman is just rounding the corner of the house. He decides to ask her if she may have seen Beth, the War Dog.
The story takes off from there with Melinda and all her rescued animals being threatened by her next door neighbor with a rifle. He actually shots two of her animals. Surprising events kept the story moving right along.

Kyron goes to back to his old hometown of Aspen to find war dog Beth. He has some bad blood with his family, but does try to mend some fences with his brother. He comes across Miranda who runs an unofficial rescue for animals while looking for the dog. He ends up helping her with a dangerous neighbor and finding more than he bargained for in the end. They're two peas in a pod when it comes to helping animals. This one has lots of drama and some action. Another good read by the author. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.
