After the deadly encounter of the night before, Tobias reaches out to the local Blackfoot Tribe for help. Haunted by his past and the dreams of his missing son, Ross sets off in pursuit of the truth about what Captain Spencer is hiding in the factory.
In this book, we take off immediately after where the first issue ended, with Denton and his deputy Tobias being the only two survivors of an ambush in the woods while searching for their missing townspeople. It's too far and too dark to go back to town so they opt to head to a nearby native camp for help where they are welcomed as Tobias is half native American. Here they learn that Hailstone is not the only place where people are going missing and the natives have suffered losses as well. Denton and Tobias begin to piece together that people started going missing around the time the army set up their factory and conclude that they need to do something. The story I think is really about to pick up from this point and I'm eager to see where it goes.
"It sounded like a huge beast...it was faster than anything I've ever seen. Everyone in Hailstone is scared of it..."
Ah, finally some free time from renovations and decorating following our house move. Time to check out the latest highly recommended series from Comixology/Amazon Kindle.
Hailstone promises to be a mix of historical fiction, horror, and suspense, as winter sets into Hailstone and townsfolk keep disappearing in the woods.
Having been attacked by the mysterious beast, the local Sheriff finds help coming from an unlikely source as his deputy, Tobias, returns to the local native tribe he was forced to leave as a child.
This issues continues the good start. Onto the next issue! 4 stars.
Like #1, decent artwork, decent premise, foul language at the end unnecessary, very short but continued story [read this free with prime, will not be reading more unless also free, i.e., not worth buying].
