Very informative and meets its purpose as quoted on page 283 “intended to serve as a roadmap for the diagnostic process and to offer the rationale behind IPP for PFD”.
I feel more confident in my understanding and approach to PFD with my own patients.
It's more of a blog-like description of one therapists professional experience rather than a practical guide, but that seems to be the purpose. Just know going in that this is not a how-to manual as much as it an individual therapist's personal insights into the treatment of pediatric feeding disorders, collaborating with parents and professionals, and decision making based on assessments. It has valuable information, but is not meant to be a guide to goals and specific treatment for feeding therapy.
This book confirmed some of the treatments I currently do and challenged me to expand my thinking on some others. I currently have several calendar reminders to modify treatments and make necessary referrals tomorrow. My patients will reap the benefits of Michelle Dawson's incredible knowledge
A comprehensive look at Pediatric Feeding Disorders. For SLPs and other health pros. The way in which the book is written isn't accessible for people who don't have patience with acronyms.
