Captain of the women’s hockey team, Cassie Reynolds, of the Tudor College Mustangs is a small community women’s college in Alaska. She loves everything about the game. She is in her final year of playing hockey, the game she loves so much. She does have a lot on her plate though. She juggles college, practice, and games for college hockey, hockey for fun on Sundays, and works at a strip club on the weekends and sometimes during the week.
The book opens at the end of the game when she scores the winning point. In the audience, there is the loudest whistling ever for her to go along with the cheering. When she quickly looked up during the game, the first time she heard the whistling, it was Logan Pelletier from the Alaska Blizzard the Pro-Hockey team. When the game is over, her friend tells her that her friends are waiting for her. She’s happy, but she knows her next job is right after this. When she walks out there stands Ryder Kingston, a forward on the Blizzard, Charli Laassonen, the wife of one of the players on the Blizzard, and of course, she dragged along as many people as she could.
Cassie thanked them for going to her game. She teased Logan and asked if he could whistle any louder. He said he could try. Ryder told her that they were going out to a club if she wanted to go. She told them she needed to go because she was running late, and she thanked them again. Little did she know that she would see the guys plus a few more before their next game. Her next job paid extremely well, but it is not something she told very many people about. She could make on one weekend what she would have made working at her old waitressing job for the whole week.
Being late made her not put on full makeup, so when there is a problem with a customer on stage the guys, yeah you guessed it from the Blizzard. The one person that stood out and made direct eye contact with her was Logan. When the customer tries to yank her off the stage, being an athlete her whole life helps her. Her thigh muscles were what gave her the upper hand, but her stilettos and wig saved her. Especially with there being such a slow response time by the club's bouncers.
Leaving her exposed, angry, and shaken. Logan and the guys did stick around. Ryder and Logan talked about how bad the bouncer's response time was, and they hoped Cassie wasn’t hurt. They asked a waitress to take her a note. She said, she was okay but asked Logan to walk her out to her car if he could. The next day, Logan just showed up at the club after practice, had a few beers, and talked with her. Cassie saw something different in his eyes that was never there before she, never saw it before. She’s afraid to name it because they’re friends, but it almost looks like desire.
When the guys showed up at the club it was busy. So, she had to serve drinks, and, Bob was there, and because he is related to the owner, he is allowed leeway other men at the club don’t get. After he had attacked her the week before, the manager said that he was not going to be allowed back into the club. Yet, there he was saddling up behind her, asking for a lap dance, with her telling him she doesn’t do them and him telling her, Tony says you will for the right amount of money. Then Bob grabs and gropes her.
That's when Logan loses his cool and hits Bob. Getting him and the guys thrown out of the club, and Cassie is fired. After a week, the guys get her to move in because they need help with Ryder’s dog Coco, and taking in their dry cleaning. Which means Cassie gets some breathing room. But the spark between her and Logan burns brighter. Such a sweet yet sizzling romance.
