Teacher by day, fantasy writer by night, West Caldwell was forced to live in secret long before werewolves and vampires accidentally outed themselves on social media, causing a worldwide freak out. One slip of his rare Omega magic bound Topher Greer to him against his will. Now that magic threatens to fracture even further—just as shapeshifters are being abducted off the streets of Austin, Texas.

Topher Greer, EMT and former prisoner of the most dangerous vampire coven in Texas, is one of the few who can sense the presence of undead blood. He’s been marked for death by the Vampire Nation—who hold his brother hostage. Things with West Caldwell are… complicated. Pack law doesn’t forbid relationships between newly changed werewolves and their sires. But West has more walls around his heart than a high-security vampire prison.

To avoid the coming war and save his brother, Topher will have to turn to the most unlikely of allies—and untangle the feelings between him and West Caldwell for once and for all.

WELCOME TO THE MORDOR !

I loved this one on so many levels! The main plot’s progression was exciting, full of emotion and twists. Topher and West were amazing with an out of this world tension going on between them and a full-on angst mode - I don't even like too much angst, but they convinced me I needed it! Simply put, the whole thing was super addictive.

Topher was broken inside. Even after a year of rehabilitation, he still emotionally struggled because of all he had been through when he was detained by vampires. Atop of that, he desperately wanted to free his brother who had also been taken. The only thing that kept him grounded was West, who accidentally bonded them when they first met and then never stopped loathing himself because of that mistake. Despite West thinking Topher's attraction was only due to their bond, they shared real feelings we witnessed through snarky banter, a tangible longing and steamy kisses. The connection between them was incredible and I felt emotionally involved in their relationship💖

West had also baggage. He felt like he wronged Topher, involuntarily manipulating him, but he still couldn't stay away. I feel a recurrent theme in the Caldwell family because, like his brothers before, West used the word "poison" to describe himself. He couldn't get close to anyone by fear of a slip up - exactly like with Topher. So fate must have brought them together. Two people linked by magic, but consciously choosing to mate. Aside from the lover side of their story, I loved their dynamic. Reading about them talking non-stop about fantasy was paradise for a nerd like me🥰 I didn't miss any references and, yes, I was proud of myself🤣

Plotwise, we progressed a lot in this third installment. We got answers and some BIG revelations. When I say the story advanced, I'm not kidding! Between trackings, rescues, new alliances and betrayals, there were so many twists and turns 😱 With this ending, everything is possible. The best like the worst...

Hints at future couples were scattered all over the book. The only one I haven't figured out is Cal. Maybe we haven't met his future mate 🤔 I can't wait to read River and Ellie's novel. I know my heart will break over their complicated story, but I want it. And I hope I'm right about Naomi and Vlad, because that would make one hell of a book! But first, I know London and Brody will be a lot of fun and I'm curious how things will work out about Brody's position in the pack...

I've written this honest review after receiving an advanced reading copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

The third book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series, Bound follows West Caldwell and Topher Greer, two werewolves tied together yet fighting their growing feelings for each other. West and Topher, with wolf and vampire allies, must work together to rescue their loved ones from an evil coven and find out the mysteries surrounding missing shapeshifters.

West and Topher are well-developed characters with interesting arcs. Both deal with inner struggles. West’s unique ability pushes him to put up walls and not let anyone get too close. Though he has strong and valid feelings for Topher, West keeps him at a distance. After being held prisoner in a vampire coven, Topher is a newly turned werewolf with a lot of scars. Both men have a lot to process and deal with, especially their feelings for each other.

I enjoyed the love story between Topher and West! They have great chemistry, and it’s clear they have strong feelings for each other. However, many internal conflicts and external obstacles stand in their way and make it difficult for them to confront their feelings. They are so good at pushing each other away, and both fear intimacy for different reasons. I like how they slowly grow to trust each other and open up more about how they feel. They have some wonderfully tender and honest moments that tugged at my heartstrings.

I love books that include delicious-sounding food in the story, and this book is no exception. Oftentimes, when the Cladwell’s get together, they share a meal or a yummy treat. Dallas’s ribs and barbecued chicken, bread from the local bakery, cupcakes, potato salad, and more are described in such tantalizing detail, and I want to taste all of it, especially if I could eat it with West’s amazing family. The Caldwell’s are such a close family unit, and I love how connected they are to each other. Though they don’t always get along, they would do anything for each other, and that includes Topher and others in their circle that they care about.

This is an engrossing addition to the series and includes a ton of action, suspense, and mystery. There are a few surprising revelations in the story, and the overarching plot is intriguing. I like that we learn a bit more about the situation between werewolves and vampires and why certain people are being targeted. I also like that we find out more about West’s dad and Topher’s brother, as both have been missing for quite some time. I’m eager to see how these aspects of the story continue to progress and unfold and look forward to reading the next book in the series. Thanks so much to Kat Kinney for sending a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Fabulous. I knew I was bound to love this one, and it arrived just in time for October's spooky season. West and Topher are bound together (initially, without Topher's consent). This magic moment saved Topher from the vampires, but will West ever know if their love is for real? Meanwhile, vampires and werewolves toil against their natural instincts and there is talk of an alliance - because the humans are after them.
A great plot and I enjoy Kat Kinney's writing too. I was immersed in a world where vampires and werewolves are crossed to make varewolves, I learnt how to spell 'whuffed' and was treated to a thread of 'You're the biggest fantasy nerd' - two characters teasing one another really normalised the supernatural for me (and made me smile).
What starts as a story about rule-breaking shapeshifters becomes a narrative of family values and loyalty.

Another exciting Caldwell chapter!

The characters make this one for me, although the ongoing storyline is definitely intense. West is such a lovable, hot geek and Topher is his perfect match. I really enjoyed their interactions and the emotional struggles that went along with them. Definitely recommend!

Hot romance with great characterization!

Bound is Book 3 in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series by talented author, Kat Kinney. This is the first book that I have read by this author, and it won’t be the last. Even though I jumped into the series part way through, it didn’t decrease my enjoyment of the story at all. Characterization is strong. Relationships between various characters are thoroughly described, which helped me invest in the fictional world.

Small-town settings are a particular favourite of mine. As I read the book, I forgot that Blood Moon was a fictional location.

In addition to the romantic angle is the supernatural one, which will satisfy anyone who loves werewolf lore. Combine the two together, and you get HEAT, threatening to ignite your Kindle! The world Kinney creates has enemies from without (and within), but I personally got lost in the will-they, won’t-they draw of the romance that the author establishes. You won’t be disappointed!

This book is a page-turner that I didn’t want to put down. I highly recommend Bound to liven up your spring nights.

So, this series has become my new sneaky obsession. I started with the fourth book (an arc), then had to go back and read #1-3. I’ve loved them all, but this one about West and Topher, was unbearably adorable. How can I petition the author to get book #5 out faster??? I’m voting for River…or August…or Cal. I want them all!

Oh My!!

Just when I think there would be nothing else that could surprise me.... BAM! Surprises left and right. I am absolutely in LOVE with this series. West and Topher.... Omg! The push and pull in their relationship had me pulling at my hair like, "Come on already! Just give in, West. Trust him!" Of course both of them had their personal demons to face: West with his guilt of bonding Topher to him, Topher with the guilt of him thinking he failed his brother. Then the fact that he was being hunted and West trying to keep his magic a secret. Throw in multiple attacks, attempted kidnapping and rescue missions and whew!! I haven't been this engrossed in a series in a long while, and every book just keeps getting better and better. I have no doubt book 4 is going to equally kick ass. Can't wait!

Kat Kinney goes to eleven.

Now for those of us who can barely reach ten, this can take some getting used to. Enter her world and every sensation is truly sensational. Every moment alarmingly real. Shadows will be darker, your emotions will be deeper, the lightest touch and you’re knocked off your feet. Still, what did you expect? This is a book about shifters. Creatures that might have once been human, but who now lead a double life, consumed by a wolf-self that won’t stay buried, loyal only to the pack, and guided by senses so highly attuned they makes us seem blind by comparison.

Bound is Kinney’s third entry in her fantasy series set in Blood Moon, Texas, and it’s filled with the same infectious energy that made her first two books come alive. There is more of her intricate world-building on display, evidenced by the complex interplay between shifters, vampires and the humans who fear them both. Loads of family tensions as all six brothers of the Caldwell clan fight it out for dominance. And lest things get too dark, Kinney makes sure to include lots of snarky humor, and I guarantee that you’ll gain five pounds trying to keep up with what everyone’s eating.

But what impressed me most about the Bound are the things you might not notice. Beneath the relentless action and clever cultural references a central theme is being carefully explored. What does it mean to be bound to someone? Does free will truly exist? And if love is rooted in magic or guile, was it ever really love? Just as shifters and vampires are constrained by their blood and the urges that come with it, we humans are struggling to be free, to move past fear and prejudice. Here is a book that will help take us there, even as it entertains us.

“What matters is intent. I feel you beneath my skin, know how you’ve tortured yourself all these years to make sure you wouldn’t hurt another person. Your magic can do terrible things, but you would never let it. You aren’t like the others. You saved me. Every day I live is a gift because the vampires nearly destroyed my mind, and in that terrible second, when I was convinced I couldn’t live with the pain any longer, you didn’t let go.”

OH THESE TWO.

Okay, so total confession – I skipped book two. Which, of course, I’m now going to circle back to because book three was FABU and I totally want to catch up on the other characters and couples and DRAMAS. Book three was put forward for #IndiePride, though, so I wanted to dive straight in as I’m trying to read as many books for #IndiePride as I can.

>> My review of book one, Dark, is here. I really enjoyed that one, but I think I loved Bound a small bit more! West and Topher were just so HEART EYES the whole way through and I want more of their story. My goodness, Kat Kinney really knows how to write tension and angst and longing.

“Don’t.” West inhaled sharply. “I can’t breathe when you look at me like that.”

As much as I loved every interaction between West and Topher, I also adored Topher’s determination to find his brother. Just, YES. Loved it. Chef’s kiss. Hats off. I really hope we get more of the brothers in later books because I feel like there is so much to develop on that front and I want to know more!

West’s turmoil was so well done, too. The focus on his inner conflict was wonderfully executed and I simply adored him. (I’m trying not to spoil here~). I’ve got to circle back to book two next, and then on to book four, because after Bound’s ending I have QUESTIONS and EXPECTATIONS. I also have a lot of ships I want actualised.

An addictive paranormal fantasy infused with pulse-rocketing adrenaline and scorching desire.

Masterfully written and impeccably edited, BOUND by Kat Kinney is a hugely entertaining gay romantic fantasy with a supernatural cast in urban Texas. Told with an exquisite voice, Kinney crafts a gripping plot, high-octane action, and outstanding character development. There was cute and quirky banter, along with emotionally powerful moments. I loved the dynamics between the supernatural creatures. The author did an exceptional job in weaving political threads together between werewolves and vampires. Also, the food will make you drool. It’s food you’d sell your soul to taste.

The superb characters were my favorite part of BOUND. West and Topher’s relationship is moving and intense, steamy and sweet. Despite their fierce attraction, West’s dangerous magic and Topher’s past trauma keep them distant at first, and they must overcome their inner turmoil to find home in each other.

BOUND is about letting yourself be loved, allowing yourself happiness, what binds us together, and how we move forward after falling apart. I highly recommend this book for all fans of paranormal romance and urban fantasy.

A shapeshifting romance with a male pairing. Need I say anymore? Despite being werewolves, each character in the Texas Shifters series is likeable and relatable. West and Topher are the perfect match. On the night they met, West accidentally bound Topher to him. Because of that, he thinks they can never be together because of the forced bond they share. But can they resist the obvious attraction and connection between them?

In terms of the over-arching plot, it really picked up speed in this book. As they search for Topher’s brother, they uncover a new danger. The author has taken the usual. Werewolf/vampire tropes and put their own spin on it.

Absolutely loved this book and have moved straight onto book 4!

Bound is the incredible third book in the Kat Kinney’s Blood Moon, Texas Shifters book series. I’m a big fan of Kinney’s because of her writer’s voice. Full of snark and sprinkled with pop culture references, she reminds me of Jr Ward and her werewolf pack reminds me of the early days of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I love her attention to detail when creating a character from their food quirks to their style. Each of the Caldwell brothers is completely different from the others and Wes has to be my favorite.

Our hero is a golden boy who acts as the peacemaker in the pack. The nerdy teacher who geeks out over fantasy fan fiction proves he’s just as tough as his brothers in this book. In previous books, we have witnessed his binding to Topher, the rescued werewolf who spent a year in vampire clutches. The guys’ strained relationship comes from unresolved sexual tension. The moments of longing in this book made me do one of those girly sighs as I read.

My favorite part was when one guy gives the other his battered copy of Game of Thrones to read. The recipient couldn’t start reading it because they were too busy picturing the other one enjoying the book – like running your fingers over the creases imagining when the crease was formed. How sweet is that?!

I highly recommend this MM romance for the werewolf fan, the paranormal romance reader, and anyone who loves deep, POV writing. This book not only has the paranormal magic and action-packed thrill one would expect from this series but also will warm your heart and have you reaching for the tissues.

BOUND is the third book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series and this time, it's Topher and West's story.

Oh, man. Where do I start? Do I start with the fantasy geekdom that runs rife through this story? Or maybe with the leaking Omega magic that bound Topher (initially) against his will to West? Or maybe how their feelings have grown but West is still so unsure of being worthy to anyone, let alone Topher? Or maybe I should go out on a limb and talk about family loyalty and what it's like to look for a father and a brother, both of whom have disappeared without a trace?

This is an amazing story that is rich in detail and intricate enough to keep you on your toes. Family is a big theme all the way through, and obviously, it's not always blood family either. Family by bond is a big thing and I LOVE IT!

The overall story arc has moved along, helped no end by this story, and I can't wait to see where it will go next. There are some steamy moments but mainly, it's all about connection.

Bound is a fantastic addition to the series, one that I highly recommend, and I can't wait for Brody and London, who come next. Watch out for sparks!

Kat has delivered yet again. I starated this book and could not put it down. Finished it in one sitting.
I loved that the main characters. The world building is amazing and believable. Just a fantastic job.
Let's talk characters for a moment - of the MCs I have to say Topher is my favorite. Beneath the surface he's a gentle soul with a deep rooted love for his family. His loyalty to his brother makes things hard for him and yet when he meets West everything shifts.
Their bond is strong, immediate - and causes a bit of conflict and tension. I love how the tension and conflict builds subtly yet its an underlying thread which is present. Their interactions are spicy, thrilling, challenging, and downright fun.
That West has the ability to control Topher through their bond but doesn't use it made me love him a lot more.
Full of twists, turns, depth, emotions, this is a book I highly recommend. Don't forget to grab it today!

Boy, was I excited to dig into this book! I loved the first two in this series, and once I finally got the time to sit down and read, I devoured this one! The tension between Topher and West was visceral and I found myself yelling at my Kindle for them to just admit they loved each other already. Haha. The fantasy banter was also a feather in the cap of this dorky fantasy lover. I can't wait to read the next book in the series by an author who is on my automatic buy list. If you like any form of fantasy/paranormal romance, you'll love this one!

I love the Caldwells! They are now officially one of my favourite fictional families of all time. I am absolutely spellbound by their interpersonal dynamics and relationships with those who come into their circle. And the food! Yes, I applaud the author for making the tastes and flavours of Texas a part of her books’ charm.

“Bound” by Kat Kinney is the third book of the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series. It follows the relationship between West Caldwell and Topher Greer. As it seems to be always the case when one of the Caldwells falls in love, it cannot be a smooth, straightforward love story. There are doubts, inner turmoil, and hurting the one they love and everyone around them in the forefront of the picture.

West Caldwell is not a simple shapeshifter. He has powerful magic he has to control and suppress at all times. Besides, if the powerful people on the top of the supernatural world’s hierarchy find out about it, he is in trouble.

So, in “Bound” we witness how a good guy – not an ordinary one though! – struggles through the labyrinth of duty, emotions, and his own nature, trying to do the right thing. Even if doing that thing will break his heart.

Topher Greer has been through a lot. Too much, really. Having been abducted by vampires, held in prison and tortured, it’s probably because of his work as an EMT, that he is able to put himself together and go on living.

Just like in the previous two books of the series, “Dark” and “Crave”, we get to see more of what the world of vampires and werewolves hides from the human public. As you can imagine, their secrets aren’t bright and shiny. They are the darkest secrets there can be. The most dangerous vampire coven in Texas hides its secrets well. But when a family member’s life is at stake, no wall is too high and no lock too complicated for the Caldwells. And Topher Greer seems to be cut from the same cloth.

While West and Topher stumble on the way to their happy-ever-after – be prepared for some sizzling hot scenes! – more sinister secrets get revealed and more curtains hiding things that send chills down one’s spine get lifted.

I can’t wait to read “Alpha”, book four of this highly addictive series by the talented storyteller Kat Kinney.

This story is set in a fascinating world, with vampires, werewolves, and, of course, shady plots, sinister happenings, and dark conspiracies. There's a huge network of interrelated characters, and it's probably helpful to have read previous books in the series to keep up with who's who and to follow the backstory (I hadn't, and got lost a fair number of times). The romance worked as a standalone and was interesting, but also felt unbalanced to me: the plot was so high octane that meaningful relationship development sort of got shunted to one side, and "omega" magic and/or why bonding would help and even whether these two actually like each other or were just linked by circumstance never really got the development they needed to completely make sense. I also felt a little cognitive dissonance at times: some of the story is deadly serious, almost dystopian, and then there are weird mini breaks where everyone eats hamburgers, engages in prank wars, and lives their best life for a few paragraphs before snapping right back into disaster mode (I'm sorry, but if you're really being hunted by nebulous, dangerous forces, at what point does "go on a scavenger hunt" read as a good idea?). There's a lot to like about this book, but it doesn't always fit together seamlessly. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Third book in this series unravels the deep bond between Topher Greer and West Caldwell. Topher continues the search for his brother whilst battling his trauma. And West is coming to terms with his omega magic. Filled with bookish witty banter and heart racing action. This installation was a page turner! Kat Kinney has a way of tacking complex themes of love, consent, and family with ease. The world building continues to be top notch and expands substantially. Other characters like Vlad and Rowan are folded into the main story seamlessly and enrich the main plot. As the book ends, it makes me excited for Brody, Cal, River, and August’s journeys. I think this world is magic and I feel at home in it with all the Caldwell pack! Until next time…

So, funny story, I ended up getting this book on sale, not realizing it was book three of a series. I just saw the blurb and thought, 'that sounds really neat!' In spite of there being two books that come before this that I haven't read yet, it was pretty easy to get oriented into the world. The characters are fun and the main couple has a sizzling dynamic with a generous dollop of angst. West and Topher have a relationship that is complicated, to say the least, which lends itself to plenty of snark, self-loathing, and pining from both sides. There's also a war going on between shifters and vampires to further complicate matters.

Overall, a very fun story. I'll definitely need to check out books 1 and 2 at some point.

Kat Kinney has done it again!!!! :)

The third book in the Blood Moon series definitely did not disappoint! Once again, Kat Kinney's expert writing really SHINES, and she spares no bells and whistles. Her character dynamics are off the charts excellent, the back and forth dialogue expertly done, and I love each character's personality, snark, and whit. I've been greatly enjoying the romantic elements and HEA's in all of the books. The continuously developing plot line in this series is beyond intriguing, and I can't wait to read what happens next in Book 4!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this extremely entertaining series!!!!

amazing continuation

This is such an action packed installment of this series. With both vampires and humans closing in on the pack, West and Topher must confront the feelings that roll between them both while sorting through what is real and what is made up. This is such a heartfelt romance, the beauty of sharing books (with or without dragons lol), cheeseburgers that someone drove an hour out of their way to get, this story shares the love of knowing what coming home feels like. I cannot wait to continue this series!

Okay, look. This one? I enjoyed more than I can say. I knew I was going to like Topher and I was totally right. And the plot has ramped up quite a bit. I was hoping a thing that happened near the end would happen--so relieved that it did. There's still another character I keep expecting to show up but I'm starting to think that's just a red herring my brain latched onto in the first book. I very much enjoyed the character dynamics in this one, even if I could have done without all the HP references and hashtags (look, I'm old. sorry). By far, this was my favorite of the series to date.

Werewolves and vampires unite

West and Topher are the mates this book is about but it is so much more. You learn so much about the bonds of pack and of family. You learn about the bonds of friends. And about broken bonds. Kat Kinney catches and holds you from the first page. When you look up at the period and realize the day is gone you feel so sad because your friends have left! A great read!!

Another steamy and twisty shifter romance from Kat Kinney! The political intrigue among the werewolf packs and vamps is getting even twistier and more dangerous. As always, there's a ton of snark, fast-paced dialogue, and delicious food descriptions. This is the third book in the series and though it can be read as a stand alone I high recommend reading the others for background info.
Both MCs are likable and both just tug at the heartstrings.
West feels guilty for imprinting on Topher and tries with everything he has not to bond. However, its really hard for them to fight their feelings and take out the bad vamps.
Very intriguing read about paranormals and a few twist.

Kat!! Each book in this series gets better and
better. There were some "wth" moments. This edition moved well and was engaging. I think I was a bit more emotionally engaged as well. I'll just say one name...Topher..

I'll flesh this out more, but needless to say. I enjoyed it.
