About the author

Paige Braddock is a Sparky Award winner, an Eisner-nominated artist and writer, and Creative Director Emeritus at Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates. She won a Children's & Family Emmy Award for her work on the Apple documentary, "Who Are You, Charlie Brown?" which won for outstanding nonfiction program.

Braddock has illustrated several Peanuts children’s books. Her other graphic novels for children include the series Stinky Cecil with Andrews McMeel and Peanut, Butter, & Crackers with Penguin Kids. New editions of the Peanut, Butter, & Crackers series are now available in the UK, Italy, Greece, and in Arabic by publisher Nosy Crow.

She lives with her wife Evelyn and their two dogs and a cat in Sebastopol, California.

Peanut is going to doggy school to learn to be a good dog. But he comes back sad and sullen after the first day. Crackers and Butter can't figure out what is going on, so they decide to each do something the next day at doggy school.

This is a mild bullying story, and it is solved in a way that would work with animals but may or may not work with humans. The antics of Butter help make this funny and lighten the tone greatly. Hand this lower grade graphic novel to animal lovers just getting into chapter books.

Peanut has to go to dog school and ends up getting bullied by the other little dogs. Cracker goes too, but he's with the middles and has to break out of his fenced area to go help Peanut. Meanwhile, Butter, the cat, can't sit idly by with Peanut coming home all sad from school, so Butter ends up trying to find ways to help Peanut too. Will they be able to stop the bullying?

This is a cute graphic novel. The friendship between the three and the ways they try to stop the bullying show care and teamwork.

The more graphic novels I read, the more I like this genre—this book is yet another example of why I like graphic novels. Peanut, Butter and Crackers: Fetch is the perfect choice for younger readers who like graphic novels, especially those who like dogs and cats. A quick moving plot, with a theme of friends helping friends, humor and beautiful illustrations are what I like about this book. Two thumbs up!

I think this just isn't the series for me. I like the cat parts but not being a dog person makes me not love the book. Plus in this one, Peanut is being bullying at dog school and I thought it was going to lead to a teachable moment but the bullies hear a rumor about him fighting the big dogs and then are nice to him all of a sudden so no lesson at all. I enjoyed the illustrations and some of the hijinks.

We have a big dog, and I didn't really like how big dogs were painted as intimidating bullies. My huge Pyrenees Lab mix gets chased by dachshunds and Jack Russells at the dog park. She's very submissive. Most big dogs I've been around would not bully smaller dogs. So I thought that was annoying. I do like the dynamic between the three main characters, though.

solid second volume. Some character development, a bit of humor, a bit heartwarming. I still miss the more bizarre humor of Stinky Cecil, but I suppose I could get used to this more simple, down-to-earth storytelling.

Another cute installment of Peanut, Butter, and Crackers. This time Peanut goes to doggy school. A couple of the older dogs pick on him, but he shows his bravery and wins them over. I like the friendship shown between the “fur family”, and Peanut is so stinkin’ cute!!!

Peanut is headed to dog school, and Crackers tags along, but the two are soon separated, and Peanut encounters a gang of bullies called the pint-size pack. Butter decides to find out what's bothering Peanut about school, and before you can count 1,2,3 a head on collision is about to erupt.

Peanut is a puppy. He’s new to the family, and in need of some training at puppy school. His brother dog Crackers, gets to go play at doggy school too! But when Peanut is not having a god time at Puppy school, Crackers wants to help him! Even Butter the cat gets in on the adventure!


My four year old enjoyed this read aloud. Graphic novel style. We’ll follow the series.
