Rate this book
Nick Fabian has settled into life in the small Maine town of Point Clear with his boyfriend Roy Constas, but work in the P.I. business is slow. Struggling for money and a sense of purpose, he considers working at the local laundry with Emily, but the news that his old crush Lieutenant Scott Mordis has been murdered in Philadelphia ignites a deep yearning he'd been trying to snuff out.

With their last parting a bitter one, Nick is conflicted about returning to Philly, but is driven by the force of his emotions to obtain justice for Scott. Roy insists on tagging along for the ride, refusing to be left behind. He's jealous of Nick's affection for his former mentor and boss, and the two men face their first major hurdle as a couple.

Nick's journey will plunge him back into a cold case—that of Aiden Winters, the murder that drove a wedge between him and Scott in the first place—and he'll unearth connections between the two cases better left buried in the past…

Nick Fabian is back and life once again will take him back into a world that he ran from.

Nick has made the decision to start a new life in Point Clear, Maine. He’s living in a trailer and Emily and Roy are close neighbors. He’s found a connection with Roy Constas. As the relationship is still new and fragile they seem to work things out. But a news report drags Nick back to a dark place in his life. His long time mentor Lt. Scott Mordas is dead.

Although Nick has tried to leave his past life behind, his emotions leave him with the decision to return to Philadelphia. For what: to find out the truth; to find a cop killer; to find closure; face his demons? And worst of all, he has to face Roy and tell him the truth. But Roy takes a stand, he cares for Nick and doesn’t want to loose him. Nick can’t fight Roy and they head to Philadelphia together.

As Nick get’s closer to all the ugly truths being revealed, both his and Roy’s lives will face danger that will put fear in both their hearts.

With “Cold Winters” Reis Asher brings a twisted, dangerous, and suspenseful mystery to the page. What is revealed is: dark, ugly, homophobic, deceit and greed that exists among the Philadelphia PD.

As much as I like Nick, Roy is the hero. Roys had his time of struggles with being closeted. He’s also older than Nick but he keeps Nick grounded and supports him. He’s a life saver for Nick and will do just about anything for him.

“Cold Winters” was an “edge of my seat” exciting, page-turner! Reis Asher is just an outstanding teller of stories and I’m looking forward to the next one!

❤ WOW This is definitely a roller-coaster ride for this mystery book with lots happening for the characters.
A good start as Nick flashes back to a very different time with Scott even if it where just a dream. A sign of something that would happen and rock his world. Yah and I does, I felt for Nick as he hears about Scott.
I loved the scenes with Roy fighting for their relationship to continue before Nick leaves.
Now the two would be investigating for Scott and closure but Nick stuffs that up.
Nick's crusade just might solve another cold case murder or put himself into danger again.
When things get dier and his white knight comes to the rescue. Like the last book Nick doesn't give up easily despite the risks.
This includes scenes of police brutally attacks, plot twists and dangers again, ex-militiary mc, and a little humour.
Okay I loved this one the story kept happening and you didn't know what was next.
There was lots of ups and downs hmmm yah I'm not telling what happens. This had a great ending which continues to the next book. Written with Nick's pov and his mysteries just get better. I wasnt sure about this series at first but now I'm absolutely hooked.. Book 3 releases soon to and I can't wait to read it. This can be read as a standalone but recommended to read book one for more of Nick and Scott's story.

Nick is now settled in a new location but the old comes back to haunt him.
News of Scott's murder of a home invasion hits Nick badly and his need for closure.

Wow! I absolutely could not put this down once I started. I love Nick and Roy and the way they fit together. There's suspense, there's danger, and there's a bit of love mixed in. This was a brilliant story that had my emotions all over the place. Asher did an excellent job building up the tension, and you'll find yourself unable to put it down. I cannot recommend this enough!
