An entertaining second chance at love story featuring two MCs in their 40s. Brooklyn has been focused on her career but a wake up call from her doctor makes her shift gears and start thinking about how she's going to have a baby while she still can. Enter her ex who seems keen to try again and these two have to figure out if they want the same things. I loved that the main character was a mature woman dealing with relatable problems. The sister relationship was strong and there was a few steamy open door scenes. Overall a great listen on audio and I'd recommend :)

There aren't a lot of romances with characters over the age of 40 and very much into the peak of their careers, so Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All was quite the refreshing in that aspect. Unfortunately, this one just didn't do it for me.

The premise and the characters are absolutely wonderful, no doubt about that. However, I just didn't feel any connection to Brooklyn or Alec; maybe it's because I'm in my mid-20s and the mindset is different or it could be something totally different.

Alec and Brooklyn are shown as two people who share the "once in a lifetime" kind of love, but if I am being honest, I just wasn't convinced. It was more about telling me that they had chemistry rather than showing it. Moreover, Alec, who is said to be a put-together guy, came across as a big man child. For a man who claims to know what he wants, he sure as hell doesn't.

Though on a more positive note, I loved how the author talked about and tackled topics such as IVF and career women wanting to be a mom. It was wonderful to read about Brooklyn and how she knew what she wanted and needed and that she had a support system behind her.

I know a lot of readers have enjoyed this book, unfortunately, I was in the minority and didn't end up loving it as much as I had hoped to.

2.5 Stars!

Hard for me to rate

It is hard for me to say this but I wanted to love this. When I started it, I did but as I read on ... I just could not.

Alec is a giant man baby who can not make up his mind and keeps Brooklyn guessing and on the line for months. EVEN tho a year ago he was in love with her.

You wouldn't know he was suppose to be 44 if skipped that line in the book. Nothing leads you to believe that he is a mature human or a workaholic.

The ending and epilogue make up for it, a bit.

Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All by Karen Booth is the second book in her Never Too Late series and it was an incredibly good book. I loved that although these characters are in their mid-forties and extremely successful in their careers, they weren’t entirely fulfilled and both showed great personal growth throughout this book. Karen Booth has been an advocate for romance books with characters over 35 for years and I’m thrilled that because of her efforts romance readers are seeing more and more books with “seasoned” characters.

Leaving her mother’s very successful cosmetics company and opening a beauty subscription service Posh Post with her sister Virginia, Brooklyn Monroe has a career she loves, but wants more. She wants to be a mother in the worst way, but now 42 she’s running out of time. With no significant other since she screwed up royally with her last one when she missed a joint vacation because she was building her business, she’s looking at options. What she doesn’t expect is for a joke between her and her sister to go viral and become public knowledge to well, the entire public or that her ex, Alec Trakas will ask to interview her on his morning show Good Day USA.

When Alec ran into Brooklyn after not seeing her for months, he knew two things; one he missed her and two the feelings he had for her haven’t gone away, but when she confesses she wants a baby and he’s basically decided that fatherhood isn’t in the cards for him because of his aspirations of becoming a news reporter he feels they have the worst timing. When his boss asks him to ask Brooklyn in for an interview regarding her faux pas asking men of their newly launched Posh Male if they are interested in helping her get pregnant he’s not all that excited about doing it, but getting the interview will put him one step closer to the new division.

I do love a good second chance romance and I really felt like Alec and Brooklyn had the worst timing when it came to their relationship. The first time around she was busy launching her business and he was ready to settle down, then she was ready to be a mom and he had decided because of wanting to switch to news reporting that the hours wouldn’t be the best for a family. These were really good people that were good together but life just kept getting in their way. They fall into this friendship where they don’t want to admit their strong feelings for one another, but they also can’t keep their hands off each other. All the while Brooklyn is checking out fertility clinics all while not totally sure that’s the path she wants to go down. Alec is preparing for a big prison interview that could launch his news division career all while wondering if that’s what he truly wants. They both learned to find balance in their lives, to listen to each other better, and to compromise all of which helped them both get what they wanted even if their journey was on a twisty, winding road.

I absolutely loved seeing Lela and Donovan from Gray Hair Don’t Care and felt Lela really helped Brooklyn see that she could have it all, but not until she learned to let go and trust the people who worked for her.

Intelligent, successful characters, witty dialog, communication and compromise, and two people who despite their differences realizing that together they can do anything and make it work, made Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All a wonderful and completely entertaining romance.

Balancing Priorities . . .

This story presents the issue of career vs family when someone realizes they may have to adjust their priorities to accomplish everything on their list. Brooklyn Monroe is 42 and has a successful beauty company. She had postponed motherhood in her early years to focus on her career. But now she realizes she still wants to become a mother before it becomes impractical or impossible.

When her plan inadvertently is made public, she is invited to deal with the PR disaster by going on “live” TV with her ex who is a talk-show host wanting to interview her. Will it be horribly awkward to face Alec Trakas and answer his potentially probing questions? Will Alec realize that a possibly large group of men may enter the competition to become the baby-daddy? And will Alec be surprised to find his old feelings for Brooklyn are still there? Can they have a second chance, or is he firmly convinced his own career has to come first before a family?

Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All is the second book in Karen Booth’s Never Too Late series. I absolutely loved this book from the opening pages and could not put it down. Brooklyn Monroe is facing her biological timeclock and wants a baby badly. A joke within her company backfires quickly and she finds herself defending her desire for a baby.

Alec Trakas talk show host and ex-boyfriend reconnects with her and interviews her about her faux pas. He’s always loved her but can’t commit to having a family especially with vying for a career change.

Both are career minded but will Alex choose family over his career? Will Brooklyn decide to slow down and have the family she’s always wanted?

Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All is a standalone book. I missed the first book in the series and will definitely go back and read it. I highly suggest this book and look forward to the next in the series.
I received an advance copy which I chose to read and review. This is my honest opinion.

I feel like I should have liked this one better than I did. I normally like when characters realize what they want, but for some reason both Brooklyn and Alex's journey bugged me. I will say that Alex's thoughts really bugged me, his reaction to Brooklyn wanting to have a baby was typical man. I did think that Alex got the shaft with his job. With that being said, I was glad with how this one ended, both Brooklyn and Alex seem happy with their lives, even if they hadn't found out Brooklyn was pregnant.

I just keep reading ho hum contemporaries. This was fine. I liked a couple of elements — older heroine, older hero, set in NYC — but ultimately, I had a lot of issues with the fact that this is a second-chance romance, but I didn't buy the couple's history at all, which makes it very hard for me to hang my hat on why I even want them to be together this time around.

The themes felt realistic — when is the "right" time to do anything? — but the book tried so hard to tell me that the hero loved the heroine, and was in love and proposing to her just 4 months into their last relationship, and that he still has feelings for her now, but I didn't feel any of it. At multiple points in the book, I literally highlighted dialogue from the heroine (direct to the hero) and annotated with, "This is so sexless." They're fine as friends, but I'm not at all convinced by their romantic chemistry.

Oh my gosh!! Karen Booth’s Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All is truly EVERYTHING!

Need more? Okay.

I’m loving Karen’s seasoned romance series Never Too Late. Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All is the standalone second book in the series.

As little girls, we're told we can have it all, children, family, a career. At some point in our lives, we learn that isn't truly the case. Something has to give. At the age of 42, Brooklyn has put in the time to make her business successful. And by time, I mean practically every waking moment. Seven years ago, Brooklyn and her sister Virginia founded Posh Post, a beauty subscription service worth about 400 million dollars. Seeing her sister happily married with kids, she now realizes she wants more. She’s surprised to realize her time for being able to have biological children, naturally, is winding down. What's a woman to do? Brooklyn plans on becoming a single mother and raising a child on her own. With no romantic partner in sight, Brooklyn’s only option is to go to a fertility center. Around the same time, as fate would have it, Brooklyn runs into her ex-boyfriend, media personally Alec Trakes. To both their surprise, there is still a spark of interest between them. But after an awkward exchange, they go their separate ways.

An in-house joke becomes public when boxes of Posh Post’s latest endeavor Posh Post Male test boxes are mailed to thousands of men. A frenzy to interview Brooklyn ensues and Alec, wanting to advance his career, reaches out to Brooklyn to do an exclusive interview on his morning show, Good Day USA. Through a series of slip-ups and misunderstandings, Brooklyn and Alec enter into a fake relationship. As things become real again the issues of kids and other reasons for the initial breakup resurface. But true love reigns supreme.

Karen is one of those authors who I don’t think knows how good she is. She’s taken an issue that women have been dealing with for years and put it out in the open. She gives great life advice and she manages to put you into the story. Honestly, Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All was everything.

description

Brooklyn Monroe is a successful entrepreneur in the beauty and skincare field. Her career has soared into unexpected proportions after breaking out of their family business with her sister and starting her own beauty box subscription services. But at forty-two, life seems to be empty for Brooklyn, and she yearns to be able to have a baby of her own. With no possible boyfriend or partner waiting around for her, how she goes about impregnating herself is the biggest conundrum.

Alec Trakas is one of the Good Morning USA co-hosts and has been voted as America's early-morning silver fox but has not been great for his work or personal life. He has been left unsatisfied with the daily fluff pieces he had to do for the show and wants to focus on more serious journalism. He used to be in a committed relationship with Brooklyn, but that didn't work out within a few months due to "issues."

Storyline:-
This book, beautifully written with realism in mind, is from both Brooklyn and Alec's POV. There is a balance on both sides that readers will have a hard time taking a side between them. Both characters are justified in their actions and feelings.
I enjoyed the book's premise that two mature individuals discover that success does not equal happiness. As the book progress, they realize how much they traded family and love trying to run after something that would not give them joy in the end. It was unfortunate that they had to realize this when they were older, but this "failure" had to happen to learn from it.
If they got married early before their careers flourished, I believe it would have failed miserably, or they would have divorced each other. Both would have not been mature enough to handle their internal struggles and support each other, given "the baggage" they carry.

Characters:-
I felt and empathized with Brooklyn and Alec immediately because it tackles different ideas and problems. They were complex characters that didn't seem at first glance.
These characters had to go through rollercoaster emotions before they each found a way to be together. Some of the issues faced by either main character are the impact of death in the family, abandonment, self-doubt, discontentment, etc.
They met later in their lives because they had to focus on other priorities than being in a committed relationship.
The character development was well executed and fun to read from start to finish. It is honest and authentic. Each revelation/epiphany in the story parallels Brooklyn and Alec's lives that it was impossible to ignore.
Brooklyn's priority shifting came early in the book, which motivated her to slowly make changes in her work and personal life. The funny accident with her exposing her "baby mission" was awkwardly hilarious, but her reaction to it was stellar. She turned a PR agency's nightmare into a PSA about women's rights and choices. Her explanation without filters on national television was HUGE! I felt so empowered after reading this section. The success of Brooklyn's interview gave her the "push" to reprioritize her work and baby-making options. Her caring and positivity in handling a better work-love balance are awe-inspiring and infectious. Age is definitely just a number, and Brooklyn's determination and persistence prove it.

Alec's development was slower since things were going on in his professional career that he'd been yearning for a while now. I would never have thought that Alec's issues were more than Brooklyn's. His lingering resentment/regret with everything was not typical for a male protagonist. His career progression in the middle of the book would have been the "icing on his cake," but instead, it made him question everything when he was knee-deep into the change. I liked how he had his brother give him advice and a good listening ear. I believe those were when Alec realized that he wanted more in life than what his career and status could get him. It confused him so much with a few "bad decisions," but it was good the Brooklyn had the presence of mind to advise him otherwise. His development may be slow, but he snapped out of overanalyzing and went with his heart in the end.

The supporting casts were incredible as both Brooklyn and Alec's families were supportive without overwhelming the main characters. I Brooklyn's family a lot. They were in more scenes since they had more chances to interact with Brooklyn and Alec. Their presence and advice add balance and a sympathetic ear/shoulder to both main characters.
Also, Book 1's Leila and Donovan has a cameo or two in the book. Leila later lent her support and shared bits of advice to Brooklyn.

The Ending:-
I love how the author wrote in the ending, especially for Alec. Somehow, in the middle of the book, the focus will move to Alec's problems. The book highlights the difference in outlook and perspective both main characters face. Although the book ends in a HEA, more disappointments will happen even to the end of the last few chapters. It is only at the epilogue that Brooklyn's HEA will come to fruition.

-------------------

Overall, Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All complements and fits well with the Never Too Late series. It is a beautiful read about second chances, growing/organic characters, love, and family.
The book deals with heavy topics like infertility and self-doubt, BUT having an experienced professional provide proper guidance and support will help resolve them. The author brings these topics into the mainstream so the stigma of these issues will be "normalized" and not seen as taboo. These people can seek the proper help like the main characters. Lessons learned are:-
1) It is always the "right time" as long as you are with the "right one."
2) Success, fame, or fortune are great, but they cannot give you true love and happiness.
3) If it was raining, you kissed—no umbrella and not a peck—a real kiss with water rolling down your nose.
4) Life will always have challenges, but there will be options. One has to have an open heart and an open mind to face these hurdles head-on.
5) Family is everything. They will only want the best for you.
Given the above, I cannot wait to see what's next!

Karen Booth returns to the beauty circles of Manhattan with another ‘over-40 romance’ showing us it’s never too late to find true love in life. 42-year-old Brooklyn Monroe’s professional life continues to flourish, but her love life is a complete fail. With no man in her life, she knows that her dreams of motherhood will remain just that unless she is willing to do it on her own, but then an in-office joke gets accidentally sent to thousands of men all across the country asking them to get her pregnant, and the only way to make her PR nightmare go away is by doing a soul-baring interview on national TV. Enter talk show host Alec Trakas, the silver fox fantasy of millions of women and Brooklyn’s ex-boyfriend. Fate has thrown them back together. Sparks are flying. But is the timing finally right? As my own years begin to add up, I find myself gravitating more and more towards stories like these, and this book gave me ALL the feels.

Brooklyn Monroe Wants It All is the second novel in the Never Too Late series. Although the stories feature crossover characters, each novel can be read as a standalone. After reading a little about Lela and Donovan in this novel, I cannot wait to circle back to the first one to experience their story. This story is a second chance romance featuring the main character, Brooklyn Monroe. At 42, she is at a point in her life where she wants to added love of her own family. Before even beginning the story, I was excited to read the novel as there are not many out there featuring romantic tales for “older” characters. (Although 40 is not old, it is older than the usual early 20s to early 30s in many other stories.)

Brooklyn Monroe has built a successful career as founder of Posh Post, a luxury subscription mailing service, which she works at with her younger sister, Virginia. Business has been great for them and continually growing over the last seven years. The story opens with Brooklyn at the ob-gyn doctor’s office looking at her options for having a baby. She decides that she is ready to have one with or without a man in her life. Through a mistake on the welcome letter for her company’s newest mailing, Posh Male, Brooklyn gets more attention regarding this baby issue than she expected. It helps her officially reconnect with her ex-boyfriend, 44-years-old, Alec Trakas, who is the co-host of Good Day USA. While it has been over a year since they last saw each other, maybe they have a chance to reconnect again. Each character has their own personal journey that they go through in the story along with the possible romantic reconnection.

The story is full of a great cast of characters. The side characters are all complex enough to be relatable and memorable while keeping the focus of the story on the main couple. Although Brooklyn and Alec are still attracted to each other, they are both very career driven. Brooklyn is continuing to expand her business with 12-hour workdays, while Alec wants to transition to work in the news division at the station. While Brooklyn’s busy career comes into play in the story, I was surprised that it wasn’t brought up a lot more considering how much raising a child would take, unless she had others to help. It was a very minor detail and preference, but it did not detract from my enjoyment of the story in any way.

Overall, I loved Alec and Brooklyn as individuals and I loved the support they had for each other, whether it was platonic or romantic. Their relationship and the reasons behind their initial break-up made a lot of sense and worked well with their characters. Their story is very relatable and realistic, as they have to put in a lot of work on their own journeys of self-discovery and any possible romantic relationship they want in the future. The HEA is not a simple journey in this story, as there is a lot of heartbreak and obstacles before it is even possible. For me, I loved that about the novel as it added an even greater level of realism. I enjoyed reading this novel a lot and I cannot wait to read more from this author!

**I give a special thank you to Rachel @rararesources,, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to participate with this enjoyable novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**

Brooklyn was a gal who knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it. She and her sister paid their dues in the business world, under the firm thumb of their mother, no less, took things off path with their own startup, and made a success of it against all odds. True, there was the odd sacrifice along the way, I mean who's personal life doesn't take the back seat to their work life now and again, but while her sister muddled through and found her happy ever after match, Brooklyn just couldn't make a debt in her calendar. Annual gyno appointment later and she's reminded that a woman's fertility has a time clock attached... and hers is ticking towards zero with deafening tocks. Not on one to sit on her laurels because she's always wanted a child, Brooklyn makes it her mission to get the job done, one way or another, man in her life or the scientific equivalent. Smart cookie right? All seemed kosher until a well timed joke kicks her search into high gear in a most cosmically funny and cringe worthy way. Good thing Brooklyn knows how to navigate uncomfortable waters, and who knows... like has a funny way off working with fate for some unexpected but amazing results sometimes.

Unconventional? Yes, but I was rooting for her all the way! From the moment I could see the BIG MOMENT going astray to the reunion that we weren't certain was for the best, but you couldn't help but hold your breath for, I just knew it girl would power through and land on her rock star heels running! Every misstep, every misfire...I tried to see the bright side. The should have been proofed letter, the responses aplenty, the good guy’s reconsideration, the story that took on a life of its own, all went into adding color and flavor to this tale. It showed us a woman's woman not afraid to follow her own path, dance to her own beat and demand the best out of life in all areas. It reminds us that we can have it all, if not exactly in the ways we imagined, and if we're willing to work for it. Whether it's a refocus of priorities, or an acceptance of compromise, anything is possible with a little tweaking.

All the characters in this book are super successful like how? Yes Brooklyn left a job she disliked years ago, but her business idea was a hit and now she is very successful. Her mom and sister both love their jobs and kick butt. Alec is great at his job even if he is bored and wants to do serious journalism, and he makes hella money. I get that work-life balance was the lesson of the book but I am still super jealous they all have amazing jobs they are good at and (except for Alec) totally love. IRL someone is always losing a job, hating a job, getting divorced, or having financial issues so like super jealous of the characters.
All that aside it was a great book, thankfully the characters weren't entitled or spoiled despite their idyllic circumstances and were really easy to relate to. Maybe that's why the social divide was weird because they are almost too relatable to be that rich. I'll admit Alec was a little wishy-washy and I was frustrated with him at times but I understand wanting to meet your long-held career aspirations no matter the circumstance. Also Alec, my dear, please go back to therapy I think it will help.
I loved Brooklyn and her family dynamics. She and her sister remind me of me and mine with the batter and side-eyes. Her mom is an OG girl boss and I love how awesome she is, between her mom and Lela she has such great role models. Speaking of Lela, I am definitely going to go read her book, Grey Hair don't care, like right away! She and Donavan seem adorable.

*spoilers begin*

I loved Brooklyn's speech about women and ageing and the workplace, it's so true and such a struggle. I also gotta admit Cy was probably my fav character and I want more of him! I was really happy with Alec's career path as it demonstrated some variance from the standard everything is fine all the time we often see in books. I love the dog in the epilogue and the puppies, my only question is will they name the baby Chelsea if it's a boy? Please tell me there is more in this series cause I will sign up now!

Our story begins with Brooklyn, she’s forty-one, and she’s talking with her gynecologist about her possibilities of having a baby. All right, let me say that she’s single, lives and works in New York City and she owns and runs a beauty business with her sister Virginia. When she gets to the office she jumps in immediately with Virginia for the next big thing with the company and they send out a letter to perspective buyers. The problem? Virginia makes a ‘joke’ per se by adding a line at the bottom telling men to contact Brooklyn if they want to produce a baby with her. (Of course, Ms. Booth writes the joke and everything else much better that I.)

Alec is a host in one of those network morning shows that have several hours of programming every day. You know the type of show, mostly entertainment with weather and they cover the New York Thanksgiving Parade. Yeah, one of those shows, and he HATES it. Alec is forty-four, handsome and everyone’s mother is a fan of his. His big dream is to get to do the News for the network. He’s also Brooklyn’s ex-boyfriend. After the letter gets released, everyone wants to speak with Brooklyn, I really do mean EVERYONE, and Alec is convinced to contact her and get the interview.

Brooklyn and Alec have terrible timing together. Between her business and his job, they’ve never really been able to get it together. Now that she has publicly come out and said she wants to have a baby, with or without a father, she is almost obsessed with having one. Alec on the other hand tells her he doesn’t want to have one. Aaaaaargh! I have to admit that I liked and respected the way Ms. Booth told this story. There wasn’t a Fairy Godmother waving her wand making a prince then a baby appear. It wasn’t resolved over night and our main characters had to work through their different issues before things are resolved. This is a good story!

I received this ARC via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. As I’ve said before, I always give honest reviews whether people appreciate them or not.

I love unique storylines, and I really felt that with Brooklyn’s situation! While it might not be completely off base to read a story about a woman in her forties who is looking to move from career to family life, the mailing list mishap is totally different and so funny!

From the get go, the reader understands that Brooklyn has never been lucky in love. It appears that the love of her life is Alec, but it took a lot for her to get over him the first time around. That’s why it’s so hard for her to keep it together in order to have a sit-down interview with him on national TV. I love how the script has been flipped; usually, we read stories about men who are completely career-focused, yet for Brooklyn, it’s been highly important to her to do as well as she can for her beauty company. One of the biggest reasons that the relationship she had with Alec didn’t work out is because of how little she seemed to invest in what they had, but now it appears as though Alec’s shot at making an even bigger name for himself is in the works. Now he’s the one who is a lot more career-focused, and she’s the one who wants a family.

The mailing list mishap, along with the past, threatens any potential relationship they might have. But Brooklyn knows what she wants, and she doesn’t want to put her life on hold. Maybe not even for Alec. But what do you do when you love someone? There were a lot of tough calls and even tougher situations that were presented in this story, and through it all I could see both sides to the situation, and could completely understand how each primary character felt.

The dialogue between them, and with the secondary characters flowed extremely well. It was smooth and easy, which made it even easier for me to delve deep into Brooklyn Monroe, wondering if she really will have it all or if she’ll have to choose between the man she’s always wanted, or the family she’s always wanted. A definite, five-star experience!

I enjoyed book 1 with Lela & Donovan in their early 50s. However, I really enjoyed book 2 with Brooklyn, 42, and Alec in his mid-40s. Brooklyn is used to being the career woman, go-getter, and being independent. She used to Alec until she forgot about a personal trip due to her focus on her red-hot business, PoshPost.

She worked with her married sister who had kids, who had work/life balance in her life; something that Brooklyn was definitely missing. She was 24/7 for her business at the sacrifice for personal relationships, including hearing her biological clock ticking until now. Her desire for a baby on her own and a joke gets her unwanted publicity when she goes viral. That lands her on the morning show that Alec hosts. This leads to an awkward encounter and the start of round two for their romance.

There is a hilarious kiss behind a plant while on a date with another man. There is the awkwardness with her mother who wanted her daughters to take over her business, but both declined. There are the men who expressed interest in Brooklyn and her quest for a baby. All along Brooklyn is herself going after her goals singlemindedly until she realizes that she may lose Alec for the last time.

Alec has his own introspection as he decides to finally go after that long lost dream of his. The chance at that dream shows him what he had been missing, only it wasn't what he thought it was. He undergoes his own epiphany while on a "Halloween date" with Brooklyn and her nephew.

There are the "fake relationship" and "second chance romance" tropes. I enjoyed that Lela was in it a bit more than a cameo.

Note: I received an advance reading copy from Booksprout. I own book 1 and have read and owned other books by this author.

Another great novel by this author. 5*
An enjoyable easy-to-read novel about a couple of workaholic ex-lovers toying with the idea of having a second chance together. Their timing never seems to coincide. Brooklyn, a busy company owner is dead set on having a baby and Alec, a TV presenter/host who desperately wants to get into the news section of the network. On top of his busy schedule, Alec doesn’t want children at 44. There will be tens of thousands of women around the world who will identify with Brooklyn wanting a child who can practically hear their biological clock ticking and feeling the panic of running out of time setting in. A very serious topic that was sensitively handled. There is a lot of angst and soul searching, making this quite a slow-burn novel. The character descriptions are good, and the language, vocabulary, phraseology, and editing are all high quality. The scene-appropriate dialogues, soliloquies show a great sense of humour and understanding of human nature. I feel that the couple’s respective self-doubt narratives have taken a good portion of the book but the eventual acceptance of their true feelings for each other, their mutual respect and finally sorting out of priorities allows the novel to finish on a feel-good HEA. I am more than happy to recommend this book.

What happens when an in-office joke gets sent to thousands of men all across the country asking them to knock you up? Well, you get guys emailing you to do the job, some creepy attention, and, if you're lucky, you get thrown back into the path of the ex-boyfriend you never really got over.

Brooklyn and Alec are two Type-A people who can never get their timing right. But when a chance meeting leads to an exclusive interview on Alec's morning show after she accidentally sent a letter requesting to be knocked up in her new beauty subscription box to influential men across the country, they're given another chance to get it right. While the initial focus of the story is on Brooklyn Monroe, I found Alec's arc to be the more interesting one. His growth over the course of time struck a chord. He was forced to stop and evaluate everything he really wanted and thought he could be in a more profound way than I thought Brooklyn did. Though don't get me wrong, she had some growing to do too.

While the plot isn't normally my style (not big on babies) the writing was quick and witty and I devoured the book in about two days. The characters were smart and well-developed. The pacing was just right and I loved going on this adventure with them.

This is the story of Brooklyn and Alec, two people who have a past and are wondering whether or not it is too late to go back. Their story is told over the course of 26 Chapters (+Epilogue). Throughout this book both Brooklyn and Alec think about their shared past and how it all ended.
The characters in this book and very relatable meaning that the readers can connect with the situations they are in. Brooklyn has the high powered career in the field that she knows and loves but is suddenly hearing her biological clock ticking in her ears. She questions whether it is possible to have it all. Alec on the other hand is a changed man following his latest breakup and has re evaluated his position on things. Readers will be able to connect with some part of these characters.
This book is full of interesting and intriguing moments that compel readers to carry on reading until they have read every single word, until they know the full story. There is one question that will play through readers minds while they uncover this story. Is it wise to go back? Thankfully the question is answered for these characters in this book.
Overall this book is full of moments that romance readers adore. Not only that I have discovered it is also the second book in the 'Never Too Late' series. Which means only one thing. There is another book out there waiting to be read when you finish this one.

The way Brooklyn is often treated, by professionals, strangers and friends alike, is indicative of the attitudes towards women of a certain age. Too old, they think. What a frivolous attitude towards conceiving a child and perhaps selfish. Brooklyn knows what she wants though and she is determined to get it.

Unfortunately her wish to get pregnant is sent out to the world, albeit accidentally. Suddenly everyone has an opinion on her womb, her wish and whether she should or shouldn't have a baby. Everyone also knows that isn't too fussed by whom. It all becomes a little bit like the last remaining female and men wanting to sow their oats to create the ultimate progeny.

At the core this women's fiction with a the dipped into the romance and romcom pool. It has plenty of amusing moments and cynical ones too. It also has a strong budding romance between the two main characters. Booth also tries to do due diligence to the general concept of women in Brooklyn's position, but does it with compassion and humour. What's wrong with wanting it all or indeed nothing at all. Does age always have to be the factor that determines what is deemed appropriate for a woman? It's a contemporary feel good read.

4 1/2 STARS!

A modern day anthem of having your cake ... and eating it too! Karen Booth is once again throwing decades old traditional expectations to the wind as she brings a character to life in BROOKLYN MONROE WANTS IT ALL who is thriving career wise after forty just as she comes to the realization that her time to make her motherhood dreams come true is in the here and now. Booth takes care to show flourishment at all ages regardless of which side of the motherhood/career realm is chosen by any particular character and her depictions are realistic and encouraging. I really enjoyed Brooklyn and Alec!

Brooklyn is an easily likable character who shows both strength and sensitivity as she relishes her success but also isn't willing to forget about her motherhood dreams.

Alec is kindhearted and also career driven and watching how easily his old feelings come flashing back when he runs into Brooklyn is heartwarming.

I highly recommend this book and the entire Never Too Late series to anyone who enjoys a mature couple dealing with life's ups and downs along the road to a happily ever after.

I am so sad to only give 2,5-3 stars to a book by an author I love. I really loved the first book in this series and Lela and Donovan made some appearances in this book too which was great.

I really liked the romance between Brooklyn and Alec but the rest of the book was too slow and way too wholesome and sweet for me.
The topics in the story are really interesting and they are topics that many people over 40 struggle with like wanting a baby while being single and owning your own business or finding the one and only but them maybe not wanting children. Dreams of another career than the one you have and being very close to it but maybe finding other dreams instead. On work harassment. Family problems and so on.

My problems with the story being too wholesome and sweet is that all the problems are solved way too easily and there is no angst and I needed a little bit of angst to make it more interesting.

I am still going to read the last book in this series and I hope I love that one as I loved “Grey hair don’t care”.

I signed up for this book tour with good intentions of reading "Grey Hair Don't Care," (the first installment of this series) before reading this book, but unfortunately, life got in the way. It doesn't matter as this second story works perfectly as a stand-alone and has actually increased my desire to read all the books by Karen Booth.

Brooklyn Monroe is a great main character. She has been created with a strong, powerful, career-driven mindset, with a huge heart and a hidden softer side, highlighting her yearning to become a mother. She will appeal to many readers for a variety of reasons. The fact Karen Booth has created Brooklyn, as an older than average main character, (she is in her 40's) makes this even more refreshing read.

This had me laughing out loud at certain parts (no spoilers here) but I enjoyed that there are some very sensitive and serious topics discussed like fertility issues.

If you are looking for an entertaining, funny yet thought-provoking read, this is highly recommended!

Thank you Rachel's Random Resources for a slot on this book tour. All opinions are my own. This honest review has been left voluntarily.
