A dutiful socialite. A focused cowboy. An impractical love.
Ivete Graham has spent her her entire life doing what she is told. But when she learns her fiancė is a womanizer, she can’t bring herself to marry him, no matter how much his wealth and connections would benefit her family. After fleeing to her brother’s Montana ranch, she meets Thomas, her brother’s farm hand, and decides a dalliance of her own is exactly what she needs. Only, she can’t ignore the feelings he stirs or the way he holds his honor higher than any man she’s known.
Thomas McMullin has spent eight years saving for a ranch of his own. But when a train robbery forces Ivete Graham into his arms, he’s not sure if he can let her go. No matter that she’s his employer’s little sister, or that she’s too rich for his blood. When his interest is reciprocated, he wonders if he’s merely a pawn in this rich girl’s game, or if her feelings are true.
But there are no guarantees in the Wild West.
Can Thomas and Ivete ignore who they’ve been to discover who they are? Or will reality rip them apart?
A Cowboy’s Vow is second in the Aster Ridge Ranch series, after A Winter’s Vow. It is a Clean romance and can be read as a standalone.
The second book in the series brings a well written historical western with strong characters and an interesting story line. The author takes you back to the day with her vividly painted scenes as she brings Ivete and Thomas's story. They have a strong connection but are slow to move on it. I enjoyed their characters and reading their story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
UPDATE: I just listened to this book on audio. Loved it! I love how there is a woman and man narrator, it brings another level to the book. They both did a fantastic job in bringing this book to life. It makes me want to read more in this series. I love the way it was written. The author has the talent to immerse you in the lives of these characters. So, off I go to get others in this series. If you love LaVyrle Spencer or Jodi Thomas, you will love Kate Condie ~~~~~ 7-2-2021 This book is the 1st book I have read by Katie Condie. It certainly won’t be the last.
I loved the way this author writes. Her vocabulary is excellent. It actually brings more to the story and her characters in this book.
The story was excellent. The characters are amazing. The flow of this book was perfect.
I saw this was the 2nd in the series. However, in my opinion, it is great as a stand-alone. I am going to go a read the 1st in the series. Why? Because I was intrigued by a few things that I read that pertain to the 1st book, her brother's story.
I’ve been in her mother traveling to Montana to visit her brothers ranch. His wife will soon be giving birth the mother wants to meet her grandchild, i’ve been on the other hand wants to get away from her betrothed. She found out publicly that he was cheating on her when the sporty woman he cheated with spit on her dress. She is happy to be away from him, but can’t get away from her mother who insist it was her fault. That is until the train stopped because gangbangers were robbing the train. After they robbed her and her mother one comes back and says she’s to go with him and it is when she is standing outside the train that Thomas walks up and says he’s there to claim his wife back. And that is how they meet. They part ways and win in Billings Montana he’s define his friend sister to escort her back to his ranch into his surprise it’s his friends mother and the woman he helped get away from the gang. The one he couldn’t stop thinking about. This is when the real adventure begins it is a great book and better than I thought it would be. I’ve already downloaded book one of the series if you love historical western romance you’re going to love this story. I think it’s awesome and can’t wait to read more from this author.
There is no question that this author can write. I loved her writing style. The words flowed well and the story pacing was exactly what I'm looking for in a book. I appreciated how the wild-west was portrayed. Ivete was a complex character. I knew from the back of the book that she was miffed from having a fiancé who was a womanizer and has decided to have a dalliance of her own when she travels out west. I didn't love the way she went about her revenge. I thought it would be more of just flirtations, this book is 100% a clean romance, I just think Ivete was confused, hurt. Like I said, complex. I loved Thomas' character and thought he really stole the show for this book. This book resolves nicely and I would be interested in picking up another book from this author.
Thanks to the author for the copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
While this story is still "sweet", it was much racier than I normally read. Ivete, is a spoiled rich girl, who's fiancée had a transgression, and Ivete found out. Half of the story refers to infidelity and while the language and descriptions are clean, the immoral discussions are about how "all" men do, and are even expected to stray, even after marriage, but "women live in a man's world". Then Ivete's desires to explore these pleasures, and the second man's moral restraint in discouraging her, fill up almost the rest of the story. Thankfully, Ivete does grow up, (a lot), and she does find love, especially discovering that she can love herself. Bandits, train robberies, and shootings complete the remaining gaps in the story with danger, fear, and reunions?! I did enjoy the story overall, but hope to not read any more on this unfaithfulness subject.
This is the first book I am reading by Kate Condie. I was wondering if I should write a review or not. I received a free copy for an honest review so I decided I would unload this burden. The writing is good, but not what I was expecting she didn’t runaway she was going to visit her brother along her mother so she wasn’t fleeing or anything. I was miss guided. Second I did’t like Ivete character one bit she was confused all the time and just made things so complicated than they should be. Her mother is the second unlikable character hack I liked her fiancé more than her mother. I didn’t like the book sure someone else might find it pleasing just not me. I had ti put it down so many times I had to force myself to finish this book.
Ivette is wealthy socialite from Chicago, traveling to Montana with her overbearing mother to visit Ivette’s brother and his wife. Ivette is promised to a wealthy man named Henry back home, but she now wants out of the engagement after finding out he has a mistress.
Thomas is partnering with Bastien, who is Ivette’s brother. Even though Thomas rescued Ivette from bandits that attacked during the trip to Bastien’s town, Mother looks on him with disdain and thinks of him as a servant.
Very enjoyable story. Clean, although there are few references to sexual dalliances. Nothing but a few kisses, though.
A very nice story. Ivete and Thomas met in a most unique and dangerous way. Right from the start, you can see where they both are attracted to each other but neither felt it is right to explore it at first. This changes as they get to know it other and face some challenges together. Thomas is a character that is down to earth and Bastien has embraced the ranch life completely Della is a great character but Maxine needs to have an attitude adjustment. I liked the characters and the story. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
Can an Illinois socialite heal from the ridicule of an unfaithful fiance? How does a mining foreman find love with a woman running from a charge of murdering her husband. Can any one of them find happiness on a ranch far from their roots? What does a group of wanted thieves have to do with any of this? Find out in this masterfully woven tale of intrigue and desires for better lives.
The second book in the Aster Ridge Ranch series a well written story with a very good storyline. Ivete Graham and Thomas McMullin's story of suspense, drama, twists, turns, and romance. I enjoyed seeing this story come together. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it was a great western romance novel and great sequel. The characters were great and the storyline kept me invested in reading this. The first book was well done and I'm glad this continued the winning streak.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This author has a talent for taking the reader on a ride. This book is an entertaining page-turner that kept me guessing what came next. I love her characters ... they seem real. And the chemistry between the MCs is just the right balance. I like clean romance without it being too sweet, and this author perfected that.
This is a new to me author and I wasn't sure what to expect. What a got was a wonderful well written book that held my attention from the first page until the last. If you like historical western romance, you will enjoy this book.

Ivete escapes her cheating fiancee when she goes to Montana where her brother owns a ranch. When she gets there she is attracted to Thomas one of the ranch hands. I enjoyed reading their story and while they may come from very different backgrounds they are attracted and Thomas is determined to buy his own ranch in hopes that Ivete will stay.
This was my first cowboy romance and I loved it. From the very first scene, you know you are in the hands of an expert writer. The book starts off with a bang (literally) and the meet-cute is unforgettable. Thomas is a fantastic hero--one you'll be wishing existed in real-life! Ivete is a flawed but loveable heroine--just like a real person. She is young and struggles with the choices she makes that will shape her future. Kate Condie's characterization of Ivete's family really supports the main story and I found myself just as captivated by the relationships between Ivete with her mother, brother, and sister-in-law as by the primary romance.
This is a clean romance, but there is some very well-done romantic tension throughout!
A Cowboy's Vow is the second in the Aster Ridge series but even without reading the first book, I still very much enjoyed this one. Cowboy's Vow also perfectly sets the scene for the next book. There are just the right number of wonderful little cliff-hangers to be suspenseful but satisfying.
Looking forward to my next Cowboy Romance with Kate Condie!
I received an ARC copy of this book for review purposes.
I usually read steamy historical romances, but sometimes I am in the mood for a sweet one and this novel came to me at a perfect time. I loved the characters and their blooming romance. To be honest, I disliked the heroine at first. She seemed a bit judgy while not so perfect herself. But it was the journey she had to take and I enjoyed reading about it. The hero is simply swoonworthy.
Ivete traveled West to visit her brother and family but also to escape an unfaithful fiance. When the train was robbed, the bandits took her captive. Thomas rescued her by pretending they were married. Then she spent her time trying to convince him that they should be.
A sweet western love story. Wonderful characters that you'd like to know. This is a feel good book, and a well-written one. It doesn't leave you hanging, and while the storyline is predictable, it's exactly what you were looking for when you selected a book like this. Seriously if you're looking for something more "literary," you probably shouldn't be reading cowboy romances. Really!!!
Oh! The adventure, the terror, the sweetness. Why oh why, couldn't I have found a man that loved me like this?! The first novel was so good that it made me want to read the second and that has rarely ever happened. And now I hope there is a third! Wish me luck!
Anyone who writes "a cow didn't come in for his dinner" should get a different job. FYI, cows are female, bulls are male, cattle is plural and often used for beef and not dairy animals (different breeds for different purposes).
Enjoyed this story. Only thing unfinished was what happened to the train robber and where he hid his treasure at the farm. Which was strange. A bit more to get them married would be good.
Okay, so I'm a little nuts. After reading "A Soldiers Vow", I decided to read the entire series from the beginning, in order. This story is enchanting and filled with happiness. Many times I smiled at the dialogue. I heartily recommend this book.
I enjoy the *somewhat* realistic characters, because of their flaws. But I felt frustrated and also had second hand embarrassment throughout the book at the situation the main characters put themselves in.
Set in Montana Territory. Family from Chicago comes to visit for the birth of their first grandchild. There are outlaws creating problems and a sister trying to determine what direction to take for her future.
After an embarrassing encounter Chicago socialite Ivete trav3ls west tovisit her brothers new family home. From the start she finds adventures to test her abilities and her heart. Author has strong female characters f8nding the life they want
I’m loving the Aster Ridge Ranch series and I can barely wait to get book 3! The characters are well-developed and the storyline has plenty of interesting twists. It kept my attention from beginning to end. I highly recommend it.
