Dick and other story-rich sci-fi books.""Best sci fi read for a very long time.""Proper science fiction.""...a reminder of how very good space SF can be."
Couria is the daughter of Kearn and Serenity (Ren). Her mother and stepfather (Simon) ha0ve an orchard on the world where they have settled. Couri has received an appointment to the Academy, and is determining whether to accept, knowing her mother will be opposed.
I read this as a follow-up to "Interim" -- Goodreads review here.)
Key players from Interim reunite for a disturbing continuation of that book. Any residual glow from that book’s happy-ish end is quickly erased: humanity is in Really. Serious. Trouble. Decently inventive plot, some good action, but character development and the clunky handling of interpersonal emotions drag things down.
Still, Lentz's writing offers some descriptive gems: " Coura’s selfish child-mind, alive with a thousand incoherent thoughts and anxieties, found its way back from temporary exile and into her flesh, which promptly resumed trembling."
I thought this was better than Interim but it just didn’t really resonate -- there were still too many small things which prevented really good immersion in the story.
My whole five-book look at Lentz's writing is here.
Interim was my first P.K.Lentz story I accidentally bumped into on Amazon for free. Storytelling way and content was great to my taste that influenced me to read more and more storeis from the author :-) However Interim feels not completed and I was extremely happy to read Second Interim when its out. It's perfect continuation of the universe, that delivers feeling of main storiline completeness :) Maybe a bit too much Coura-Ren feelings and hesitations for me, but it is still 5 stars definitely.
Another will written fantasy space opera adventure thriller by P. K. Lentz about a 👦 woman in Spain working on her mother's orchard wants to travel in space. She goes to the university and is offered a chance to be part of the crew on a new spaceship. She will not go unless her family goes to and the adventure begins. I look forward to the next novel in this series. I would recommend both novels 👍🔰 in this series. Enjoy the adventure of reading all kinds of different types of novellas, novels 👍🔰, and books 📚. 2022 👒😉⌚
This book, as the first, is engaging science fiction. Good character development coupled with moving sequences will keep you reading. It would be interesting to see how the survivors get along in the next book with a totally different species; maybe silica-based?
This two book series was a very enjoyable read and provided some thought provoking situations. Good character development and a wide variety of contributions to the final product. Interesting, fun, thoughtful all at the same time. I am glad Interim Two made it to the world!
I read the first book and was instantly hooked. I bought the second book before finishing the first and have zero regrets! I really enjoyed this, and I hope that the “lifeless void “ is filled with the adventures of Coura and the crew of the Sallat. I will definitely be reading this series again soon.
