Wow! What a page turner! Everything you want in a YA book. The plot is new and interesting. The chase scenes are intense. The romance is innocent and fun. If course there is a mean girl to make life harder, the nice guy to pull for, and the unknown villain. Love the characters! Kept me guessing and i want more! Can't wait for the next book!
I couldn’t put it down, I loved the Fresh idea- I felt like it was a very original story line- and it kept me wondering what would happen next. This book had an interesting take on character development for the main character. Since she has a second chance at life, its almost like she starting over in some ways. At the beginning there are aspects of her personality that seem more childlike, like she’s experimenting, to better understand who she is. This is intriguing. At first I thought she was going to be a Bella Swan type character- who never really progresses and is very flat through the entire series. But as the book progresses you begin to see little changes, where she is asserting her independence and deciding who she is. I can’t wait to see where the authors take her in the next book. I feel confident she will continue to grow. As for the plot- it’s a fresh take on an interesting story line. I really enjoyed the suspense, and although I don’t usually love “teenage” romance. This one was fun, and I am excited to see what happens next!
The story begins with our main character undergoing a tremendous change. She has her consciousness transferred into another body. Becca is a young girl just beginning to live when cancer sneaks in to steal away her life. Fortunately for her, Becca'a father was able to use a new experimental procedure to save her. In order to stay safe and avoid hard questions for everyone, the family and the organization move across country to the Research Triangle Park near Raleigh, North Carolina. Becca starts school and soon makes friends and also enemies. She becomes worried that someone is following her to cause her harm. Unexpectedly the shadows around her begin to move and she has her eyes opened to a new understanding. The characters are typical teenagers and the author weaves the storyline through them with precision. The fast pace keeps you reading page after page until you can't put the book down. Looking forward to the next book and more from Becca!
Everything you want in a story! Something else I enjoyed about this book is how the author is able to pull you in to consider and explore an interesting ethical dilemma: if donor bodies were real would it actually be ethical to use them? And what kind of complications might arise?! My brain was working overtime trying to figure out what the ramifications this idea might have on society! Such a fun read. When I started got literally halfway through the book before I even realized what had happened! 😂
4.5 stars! This book has everything for the teenage girl who loves to read. Great plot, fun PG romance, intense action, likable characters, and awesome descriptions. I am NOT a teenage girl by 50+ years and I enjoyed it very much :-) My only complaint is that it left me hanging, but that just makes me crave the next one!
If you were a dying, or severely disabled teen and were offered the chance to move your consciousness to a healthy body, would you do so? Seventeen year old Becca Tanner is dying of cancer. She hasn't much time left when her researcher dad offers her exactly that chance...Swap out her wasting body for one that's perfectly healthy. It's (no pun intended) a no-brainer. we meet her a few months following the procedure. Where her new body came from and the circumstances surrounding its availability are not something she's allowed to know, nor are why she must continue regular sessions with the creepy family therapist. Then there are the pills she must take every night, the lack of dreams and the creepy guy at her new school who is stalking her after two dates. The story alternates between typical teen romance/drama and Becca's increasing sense that something is terribly off kilter about what really happened to land her in this new body. Every few chapters, readers are teased by one from the viewpoint of another female. When you near the end that person's identity is revealed and things speed up while becoming more sinister, setting you up for another book. I hope we don't have to wait very long for it to come. I did drop this one star because one of my pet peeves showed up. Becca's chased by someone in a truck, but when she's talking about it with friends the next day, it's now a car, then morphs back into a truck a few pages later. This should have been caught during proofing.
I need to stop trying to guess everything and just read, all my theories were wrong, haha yup, I'm laughing at myself.
This book had a dramatic beginning, OMG WHAT just happen, to high school drama, just the right amount not overly the top OC drama, a hot guy alert, to ugh, I can't stand Valerie, there's always that one girl with her little lemmings, suspenseful chase scenes, a what is wrong with that therapist, to a very mysterious Area 51ish town, and a few, oh I love this, chivalry ain't dead fights!
Still, I can't believe I didn't see that ending. Well it's not an ending because it's not finished, bring on book two! I need to know.
I loved this book! Which says a lot considering I’m an extremely picky reader who doesn’t venture out of my preferred genre much.
The story was easy to read and flowed very well. The characters are all unique and relatable. And the plot line leaves you interested and in suspense throughout the whole book. I also highly appreciate how the story is clean, so it’s appropriate for readers of almost any age.
Loved it! I will be over here waiting for the author's next book. It had great flow. One thing that I liked was the teenagers acted their age. Some authors write teenagers on more of an adult level and Leathers did not do that. Definitely a wholesome, fun read.
I am ready to see what happens next. Not one of my favorite I've read and less so when it became kind of paranormal. But still has a good story line. I wonder how they are going to stop whoever is facilitating the events.
It's a super interesting idea with definite moral and ethical considerations. However, the story is not confined to one book forcing readers to read the second to find out what happens next.
From the love drama, to the suspense filled scenes, this had me constantly craving what would happen next! Definitely recommend excited for the next book!
I really enjoyed this fresh idea, and the interesting twists it took. I felt like I couldn’t put it down, and the characters were vivid and interesting. My only negative is that I can’t read the next one yet!?!
