A child of the system, I grew up missing out on a lot. Somehow, I lucked into an amazing found-family with the Vice and Vow Ink crew. It’s not quite the same, though.
Being a grownup when I was never a kid sucks. Not as bad as being roofied and roughed up in a parking lot. To say nothing of being robbed not only of my wallet’s contents, but of the moment Detective Marshall Benton showed up in my life.
Luckily, Marshall’s in time to prevent anything worse from happening. Now he’s showing up every time I need him, like fate is casting him into the empty role in my life. Yeah, that role. The Daddy one.
Prick’d is a high steam romance with elements of DDlg (Daddy Dom, little girl) kink. All characters are adults and there’s no family relationship, either by blood or marriage.
In this story, we follow Stella and Marshall. Stella is a barely functioning adult who only really has a handle on her professional life as a tattoo artist. She awakes in a stranger’s bed, unaware of how she got there. It’s clear that great care was taken — her clothes are intact, her phone charging and set tidily beside her. Upon further inspection, she realizes there’s a note. One explaining that she had been drugged the night before and saved by Detective Marshall.
Their relationship takes a turn when Marshall’s protective nature gets the best of him. Their relationship blossoms into a DD/lg (Daddy Dom, Little Girl) dynamic as they begin an investigation into what happened the night they found each other.
I really did enjoy this story! Which, I feel like is a testament to the story itself, given that DD/lg doesn’t particularly interest me. I enjoyed this heavier plot — I much prefer when the relationship develops alongside another story arc.
I would have rated this a solid five stars, but there were a few points that asked me to suspend reality a bit more than I was willing to. Largely when Marshall spoke in a possessive way in front of Vice’s father, who, for all intents and purposes, fills a paternal role to Stella (in the non-kink context). I had flashbacks to my father and really was surprised that Marshall didn’t wind up on his backside by the throat. The dialogue in general was a bit rough around the edges and it was hard to imagine anyone saying some of the stuff without devolving into giggle fits.
The third installment does end on a cliffhanger, and we are meant to wait for Jill’s story to learn more about Stella’s assailant.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with this series and quite invested. I will definitely be picking up the books as they come out!
Romance genre: DD/lg Series: Vices and Vows Length: 104 pages
Plot: Stella wakes up in a strange house, alone, unable to really remember how she ended up there. She's relieved to find that she's in the home of a police officer, the one who found her in the parking lot of a bar the previous night, passed out. The reason is a mystery - she wasn't drunk, seems like she wasn't drugged either. But Marshall was there for her, and it turns out that he wants to keep being there for her. As far as he's concerned, she's his little Pixie, and he wants to be her Daddy. When he talks her through it, Stella has a decision to make. Is she willing to be his, in every way that he wants? Or is she going to walk away from this unexpected chance?
Character development: Stella has a reason for being a slightly unequipped adult. Her upbringing left something to be desired, and that plays into her naivete and her need for structure. It turns out that Marshall, as her Daddy, can provide that care and dedication and structure that she was missing. I enjoyed reading their negotiations. I do wonder what the whole aborted attack at the beginning and the shooting of the tattoo parlor at the end are leading to, and hope that there is a next book to explain that.
The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Vices and Vows series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Stella tiny, sweet girl was raised in the system without love being passed from home to home until she aged out but found family in the ink crew. Marshall sexy as all get out detective is there to protect her and keep her out of harm’s way the chemistry is instant and intense, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored between this unlikely match will he keep her safe, allow her to be the kid she was never allowed to be, and can they find happiness?
I wasn't really confortable with the story 2.5 I liked the first book in this series so I chose to read the 2nd volume. It’s a romance that gave me a weird feeling because I didn’t expect this development to happen. The story begins with a tender, cute orientation, although the events that linked the heroes Stella and Marshall are darker. However, the evolution due to the age gap, Marshall's orientations, the emotional shortages of Stella's childhood, surprised me. It follows from this, Marshall who is perhaps too directive and direct, for Stella coming out of a traumatic event, even though she is positively sensitive to what Marshall is proposing. I wasn't really comfortable with some of the word choices, maybe too much in the "daddy" version of Marshall's craving. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Prick'd is Marshall and Stella's story. Marshall is a Detective with the police department, he is single but not from the lack of his friends trying to set him up. Marshall has a personal desire that helps he loved, but it's not one you bring up in polite conversation. Stella is a tattoo artist, growing up in foster system she never felt safe. When Marshall walked out of the bar and saw Stella being attacked he felt an immediate pull.
This book is Marshall and Stella's journey and developing relationship and roll in a DD/LG relationship. It is a sweet and caring love that allows each person to feel safe and cared for. Great story that is well written with amazing characters, the story just seemed to veer from why the attacks.

This is a hot and steamy insta-love Daddy Dom/little girl (DDlg) HEA. I have not read a lot of DDlg, and this was the perfect book to dive into. There was a lot of education on the trope explained realistically in the story. Stella grew up in the system and has always been a little young. Marshall is the domineering detective who ends up rescuing Stella in a chance right place, right time and is instantly drawn to her. The more Marshall shows Stella what kind of Daddy he is, the more she realizes, he is the Daddy she didn’t know that she needed. They end up finding the perfect balance and therefore their HEA.
This is my first book from Layne Daniels and I am going to go back and read some more. I thought that this was a really good book. I liked Stella and Marshall together. I really liked the connection and the chemistry between these two. Marshall is exactly what Stella needs even though she was not looking for him and Stella was the one woman that Marshall has been looking for. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is another short love story in the Vices and Vows series. Stella is a tattoo artist and Marshall is an detective. These two are perfect for other. She is everything that he ever wanted and he is what she did not know that she needed. He becomes her hero, Daddy and lover. I have enjoyed this series with the crew. The stories are sweet but with some drama and steamy attraction.

Loved the three book series the author Layne Daniels has done a great job with these stories. Stella never shown love moved homes different families, when she was old enough she was left to her own devices. Marshall is a detective and came across Stella, he decided that he would help her and protect her, the chemistry between them was hot and steamy. Marshall could not believe that he found his Little, and he could be a Daddy to her.

Marshall is a detective in the local police department. He and his partner were leaving a bar when he sees a woman being attacked. From the moment he sees her laying on the ground he has an overwhelming protective feeling toward her. Stella wakes up in a strange house and finds a note explaining what happened the night before. This was a quick read with an over protective male and a woman who trying to find out who she really is. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was a bit confused as there are only 3 books so far in this series but on amazon it states this is book 4 but that aside it was a sweet story. I haven't read anything in the DDLG genre before now. And I was apprehensive, but it is actually very caring and sweet. A hot short read. Will look forward to reading the next book as I want to know what happens to the other artists at Vices & Vows and who is after them! 😳
A "giant" detective and a "pixie" tattoo artist. An unlikely match, right? Doesn't matter when Marshall gets the chance to take care of the sweetest little girl he's ever dreamed of. She's never had anyone take care of her and promise not to leave. This big, tough man and this tiny love starved doll belong together. A sexy, sweet romance. DDLG romance.

The attraction is almost instantaneous between the two characters, her being unconscious is a reason for the delay. I normally do not read DDLG books but I enjoy all of Layne's other books, so I gave it a try. The book was hot! especially so when Marshall was explaining everything to Stella, like what him being her Daddy entailed in the relationship. This tough cop was just right for this little girl.
Ok, so I just read all 3 books in this series in 2 days. Lol. I enjoyed the series. They are all standalone books. This book features Marshall and Stella as the couple. I laughed by the second page. This is an insta love story. This is also a Daddy, Little girl book, so if that is a deal breaker, know now. I didn't like how some of the story was left hanging for thr next book. It's not a deal breaker but still. A good book and I'll still read the next book.
Instalove DD/LG story following Marshall and Stella. I did like this story but it was just all over a bit to quick for me with absolutely nothing resolved. I think I'd have enjoyed it more if they'd developed their relationship a bit more, we'd have had more idea of what was happening in the wider plot and think the vice and vow family would've been a bit more involved. So it's not that it's bad, it's that it felt like a sub-story in an actual novel. Which was a shame because I liked it.
A great short story to sink your teeth into. I loved that Stella was strong but still knew she needed marshal. I loved him for being a soft hero but a total dom in bed. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to try read a new kink. Layne wrote this one beautifully ❤
It was a cute story, a little rushed and it kind of left me hanging for answers which I have to read the next one to find out more, but overall a sweet little read about a Daddy Dom finding his Little Girl. Stella never really had a childhood so meeting someone who could give her everything she needs including being little is just perfect.
This was my first book reading about DDLG. I never would have thought that it would be as sexy as it was. Holy damn! I want a Marshall of my own. Big, protective AND possessive? Yep, sign me up. And I love how Stella learned to be herself, how she found who she was.
This book was so good! There’s also a bit of action but a whole lot of steamy hotness and it’s kinky and I absolutely love it!! Definitely recommend it!

This is a quick, Daddy Dom and Little Girl relationship; age-gap, love at first site, EROTIC romance. There’s some drama that isn’t resolved in this book but it doesn’t take away from it; ends in a HEA.
The story was well written and well developed. I loved how the story evolved and I loved the interactions between the characters. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I’ll be honest, I read the whole series so that I could read this story. It was worth it. Loved the whole series and loved Marshall and Stella. Love their size difference, their ddlg relationship, the story, their professions. The whole thing did it for me. And now I need Jill’s story!!
I didn’t want this book to end. My Little was stomping her foot because we wanted more. Love this story from beginning to end. There’s a mystery though that I can’t wait for it to unravel.
This incredibly written story captivates you with all of the characters. They’re a close knit family. The kind everyone wants. All the relationships are so caring and loyal. Stella and Marshall are super hot together!
