Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.

You are playing with my emotions! Shane! This man is just everything! Sweet, has the purest heart, kind, giving, gracious, caring the list could go on and on! My heart went out to him as he was always so vulnerable with his feelings. Being the only male child, probably made him feel as if he had to be strong for his sisters. When in fact, he was the one drowning the most! Serita's abandoment BROKE him! He became more clingy to Sharee, and had a terrible fear of being alone. Losing Roshi hurt him bad, as she was his first and meant the world to him. Reconnecting to Roshi felt like a sign to Shane that things were looking up. I wasn't sure what to think of Roshi at first, jumping to get this man, knowing he was with someone else. Wasn't that just as bad as what Shane did to her? But she did grow on me, and I understood why Shane cared for her so much. I hated what Carrington tried to do to Shane, but at the same time I felt sorry for her! She had an ain't ish momma, and just wanted better for herself. Being with Shane really did change her for the better, and opened her eyes to the wrongs she allowed her mother to talk her into. I'm so glad that Shane and Serita finally had an opportunity to speak their minds freely, and clear the air. That peace of mind made a world of difference for Shane. Loved catching up with all the Taylors. Especially Shawn still dipping in and out of the streets, to take care of the fam. Aunt Sonya still kicking asses and taking names! 😂 Just happy that Shane has his one, and can feel content again without having Sharee as his crutch. Emotional, but heartfelt read. I wouldn't expect anything else from you Miss Monica! Great job! 👍👍👍

When ya mistakenly give em ya best

This was such a great read of so many lessons! The growth was so present for everyone except the villian Tessa... lol Another great read by this author. I love how she writes healing and forgiveness in many of her books! When a person tried to cross ya, only to get crossed up in your kindness that they couldn't do nothing but get betta, that's a 5-star gem!

I am extremely glad that Shane got to tell his story

I was turning pages until the wee hours of the morning. I am so glad that Shane got to tell his story. He has watched his sisters, cousins and his father experience true love. I will say being a mother of a son is different than parenting a daughter. You love them the same but it is certainly a difference. I was happy that him and Serita got to talk without reservations and renew their relationship. Forgiveness is freeing the soul of deep rooted pain that only love can heal. Nevertheless, Sonya will also be my favorite. Oh yes, she showed up for her nephew/son in a big way. Roshi was a grown woman for sure and handle Carrington in a special way. I loved how Shane didn’t stop at nothing to get his very best back. I can’t forget about the kick but attorney, Aunt Sidney. Sidney has mad skills in the courtroom.

Thank you, Author Monica Walters for putting cities of Texas in your books, especially Nome, Liberty, Dayton and Beaumont. The love of community, friendships and dedicated families resides in those cities. It touches my heart every time I read about them in your books.

The Best

I soooooo enjoyed this story🥰🥰even more so than Sharee’s. I really liked Shane but he gave too much too fast in the beginning of the relationship with Carrington. It had everything to do with his relationship or lack there of with his mother. I am glad they patched that up. I loved the way Roshi came to get her man back and played no games letting him know. Aunt Sonya plays no games😂😂 straight thugging, I loved it. I had mixed emotions about Carrington because I wanted to dislike her but her heart really wasn’t in the treachery. Now that mammy of hers deserved that whipping she got😂😂.

This author is amazing and you always know to expect the absolute best story and that hot 💦steamy ❤️!

It's All That!!!!

Once you start reading you will not stop until you see The End!!!!! It was an entertaining read which I was anticipating. First cut is the deepest! Shane had it bad for Roshi!!! Carrington didn't stand a chance. Yo, Daddy Shawn is still my book bae from these stories!!!!! He had my big eyes so wide during that drive with Carrington. Sonyaaaaa came out of retirement with that action!!!!! I really couldn't believe Carrington was so deceptive. Glad Shane dodged that bullet. He is such a caring soul despite what homegirl did. The intimate moments were saucy as usual! That wedding idea from Ree was so sweet! Man, I enjoyed this read!!!! Monica keep the stories coming and gimme that one with Brian and Willow!!!!! 😛

The evolution of Love

I don't always leave reviews. Stars but hardly any reviews. Let me say I was side eyeing Shane since his sisters' books but he was such a sweetheart I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Based on the scenario presented I thought it would be a book of angst but it was not and by the end I even began to enjoy Carrington her situation hit close to home but was handled so well. Thank you Monica for this book.

AMAZING LOVE❤🔥

Shane is a man that mistake lost the love of his life... moved on with Carrington thought she was the one but his heart belongs too Roshi. This book will make you laugh, get emotional, feel family bond, & how God can bring your mate after 9 years back & pick right back up.. The Aunt & Shane Father was sooo good to me... just click & get started. ❤❤🔥🔥

Again.....such a great story. Loved how the author touched on his issues with his mom and how what she did in his childhood still affected him as an adult. Super important because that was why he settled and didn't want to ever be alone. Thanks for another great read!

Read straight through

I was most excited about this Taylor Kid. This journey with this family has been an amazing roller coaster ride that I can ride over and over again. Wonderful job. I really don't want to go into to much because I will spill the beans. But Roshi was that chick for me and Sonya never fails me. She literally had me laughing out loud. Although settle I loved how Shawn feelings came about his ex-wife Serita. This whole series is a must read. You can really see how Monica (the author) has evolved throughout her writing. I said once, and twice but the third time is a charm... Amazing, wonderful, excellent job on this book.

Shane had so much suppressed feelings from years of abandonment from their mother that being alone made him cling more to his twin sister and looking for love in all the wrong places. Shane and Sharee are so closed that their bond couldn’t be any deeper. Carrington frowned on the closeness between the twins (strike one against her). Shane and his siblings do not know anything about that street life like his daddy since they were shielded, but he’s very laid back dude and true gentleman. He has a very sensitive and caring side and these “skeeters” took advantage of his kindness. Carrington thinks he was too nice and not “thuggish” enough for her (strike two against her).

Even before Roshi and Shane reunite again you can feel their chemistry off the reading device. When they finally met it was like a combustion pow 💥 pow 💥. Roshi had a confidence about her like “I’m coming to get my man back”. Yep I’m here for it pow 💥 pow 💥. However, her nature is more quiet but she got out her comfort zone to get her man.

There’s a LOT to digest with Carrington. Maaan oooh maaan ~~ Carrington she saw Shane as a way to come up and live that good life so she can get away from her circumstances in that household. Her mother was trifling ugh 😣. I was not a fan or Carrington because her trifling mom wanted her to fleece Shane for all she can and coming up with scheming ways to do so. She wanted to live the life his money can provide. I started side eyeing her and saying to myself don’t do it girl.
God don’t like ugly and Author Monica redeemed Carrington, and readers may have felt empathy for what transpired with an unexpected situation with Carrington. Even though I had no love for Carrington that does not mean I didn’t want her to succeed in her future endeavors after she realized the error of her ways. It was good that she got her life together after Shane and to make something about herself. Her trifling mom and “Baby” all got what they deserved.

Well let me tell you about Mr. Shawn their dad! That man is the truth you hear me and he don’t play when it comes to family. ~~~Swoon~~~. Sonya had me ROTFL 🤣 I was laughing so darn hard. OMG Sonya is a hot mess. I was drinking my soda , eating popcorn 🍿 and candy 🍭 with Sonya’s shenanigans. Let me tell you I was there for it!!

Shane and Roshi’s relationship were just beautiful. I truly love their connection to each other. It’s surprising they didn’t connect sooner and they were very close distance wise. Once they reunited after years of not seeing each the years just disappeared and it seemed like yesterday. Of course there’s always a surprised revelation and a secret was revealed! Shane went thru the ringer emotionally and I did not agree with Roshi’s decision regarding that matter.

Of course drama had to come knocking on the door SMDH. Folks need to get jobs and make a living vs. constantly scheming to get things that is not theirs.

Also happy to see some closure between Shane and mom Serita. Shane needed that closure tremendously. He has a very sensitive side! Serita came a very loooooog way from when she was “messed” up years ago! Woosa!

I love the “triple” you all know what I’m talking about yep! It was beautiful and meant to be. Just a tear jerker. This story in the series was my favorite 😍.

Thought the book was generally okay nothing that would say wow thats a great read. This story follows Shane Taylor and Roshi Green. As we enter this book we fine Roshi letting Shane know they were over due to his infidelity. Nine years later Roshi professionally wise is excelling but is missing something. When she starts to reflect she finds herself thinking one word Shane.

So what ill say is this Roshi was a women on a mission which was to get her man back regardless of his situationship with Carrington. Typical the heroine is the one who is indecisive when it comes to reconciling their feeling as it pertains to the hero. That was definitely not the case here which I found to be refreshing. Shane what I loved about him was his willingness to show his vulnerability. He understood what he lost and was not going to mess up his second chance with Roshi. Also his overall heart towards others definitely won me over. I'm glad he was able to reconcile with his mother.

On a side note his ex Carrington as clear as the author wrote Roshi and Shane I felt sometimes confuse about Carrington character. She wasn't the bad person she was sometimes made out to be. I would actually like a book on her and her growth. Anyway nice read.

Shane is a split image of his father, he has all of his gentlemanly ways. He can even hold a tune or two for the love of his life. I did think be would be a lot more" hard" especially once he started to figure out what Carrington and her mother was up to but he was not. He really did help Carrington way more than I would have ever expected. I did find it quite comical that Tessa really thought she had a leg up on the Taylors. Um, no ma'am, go somewhere and sit down before you be lifting your eyes up towards heaven.
I loved the scene when Sonya and Shawn came to regulate the situation with Tessa. It just shows you some things just never changes with them two.

This was another Mrs. Walters masterpiece to add to her portfolio. I was glad that Roshi and Shane found each other again. You can feel through the pages how much they truly loved each other. I was also glad that Serita and Shane finally made amends. It was a long time coming. I will be anticipating when the next Taylor story releases. I have been fully invested in this family since the Sweet series.

Malificent

These 2 were hard to love for me.

Roshi's ass just woke up one day 10 years later and decided she wanted Shane back. Didn't give a darn that the man was in a relationship or anything 🤔.

Rode him off bare-back, and his gullible behind, he didn't even guestion it. Baby momma lost a baby she was like, "me too"! And no one batted an eyelash!! I almost threw my phone across the room when she announced her pregnancy. Shawtee didn't come to play. But Carrington was the schemer, right...🤦🏾‍♀️

Meanwhile, Shane actively Pursued Carrington. Moved her in until in no longer suited him. Poor thing had a man on Monday then on Friday he was like I'm changing the locks, hiring security, and putting you out like garbage. Like just the other day I wasn't your man. TF!! Yeah, her momma was foul but she didn't do anything. She thought about trapping him and didn't even go through with it. She was pissed and rightly so. And even then didn't come at them with not get back foolishness.

They tried their best to villianize Carrington but no. Not buying it.

LOVED IT

I enjoyed reading Shane's story. The handsome blue eyed althete all the women want but what he was missing was his true love. We get to see a different side of Shane in this story. He is dealing with conflicting feelings between his current love and the one he let get away. Although things didn't go well for Roshi and Shane in the past, their love still remained after so many years. They say you never forget that first love and these two were willing to do whatever to get back to that happy place again. I was happy that Shane finally made peace with Serita. Their talk was long overdue and needed for them to heal from the past. Shane Taylor was truly a gentleman with a caring heart. After what he learned about Carrington and her mother, he was still willing to help Carrington. And that said alot about his character. Another Taylor gets a happy ending worth reading about.

Get the book and get into it!

They said true love never dies but is it really true? That’s something Shane and Roshi both had to consider. Shane made mistakes in his immaturity that cost him the girl of his dreams, but what if he was given a second chance? This story is about second chances, empathy and compassion causing a life to change for the better and mending broken relationships. It was good to see the family revisited. Shane is everything and more that his father taught him to be. Carrington was extended so much grace I don’t know that she fully deserved it but I was glad to see her evolution. In the end so many people were made whole. Get the book and get into it!

Still

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read! I know some authors say they listen to their characters and write what the characters show them. I can see that here in this story. It is really written in a way that she is simply telling the story good or bad. All the characters have flaws which is very realistic. I love Roshi and the fact that she obviously loved herself more than a young cheating Shane. To see her come full circle and go after him later in life was surprising as interesting. She has her reasons! Shane on the other hand seemed to learn from his mistake of losing Roshi but he had plenty of fun while learning it seems. Carrington showed so much growth and garnered my sympathy at times although I was team Roshi through and through.
That is a credit to some good writing!

Wow, I really thought I would like this book so much more. I really thought. However, everyone and I do mean, EVERYONE was hating on Carrington right off the bat. Over her "intentions"? What bloody intentions? And the father? Threatening her for having a conversation, a simple conversation with her ex boyfriend. Make it make sense?
He has done so much worse. Shane has done worse. Roshi, the female lead did worse. And they're all threatening her over her intentions?
And the hysterectomy? Why, Monica? It became more of a competition in the end. Look how much better I can love on Roshi compared to you.

Bloody annoying. And I really like your books normally. This one just missed the mark a lot.

On the fence with this one

Lord knows I love Monica Walters and while I really wanted to like this book, something just didn’t do it for me. Not sure if it was Shane and how he dropped his gf with the quickness after one conversation over text with his ex or if it was Roshi deciding out the blue after 9 years to not only forgive her ex Shane, but that she wanted and was gone get him back regardless to whether or not he’s in a relationship. There was also weird references made by Shane during sex with Roshi that was just like huh? Raw and uncut? Until you purple? Just left my face frowned up and had me shaking my head like, huh?.. what?.. that don’t sound right!

Shane and Roshi, Reunited with your 1st love

I was so happy that Shane finally found the love for him!!!…He deserves it and it sucked that Carrington only wanted his money, especially since she truly didn’t want to be in around his family or felt some type of way about him too!!!…
Roshi had such a sweet heart and personality and she definitely fit with Shane for real!!!…
I loved that triple wedding because Serita has come a long way where her children were concerned and I love their healing journey!!!…
Sonya let Carrington and her momma know exactly who she is and not to mistake her kindness for her being weak!!!…

Shane was worth the wait!

I fell in love with the Taylor’s on day one and to see that family striving was just beautiful! I loved Shane finding himself and his true worth as a man and making his forever love with Roshi a beautiful woman inside and out🥰. Their love was rekindled and developed realistically and Ms. Walters’ has a brilliant way of making that magic happen on the pages and I don’t want t spoil anything but if you are a fan she brings the heat and you won’t be disappointed the family is in full effect🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰❤️

This is a great read. Monica Walters delivers again. Catching up with characters from past reads and sharing the journeys as they have grown as well as there families is so beautiful. The Taylor family knows how to represent. The G stands for “Girl you better write these books of black families and love”. Thanks Author Monica Walters for sharing your gift and being a queen with a pen that gifts us your stories of life, healing, obstacles, true experiences for some. Always enjoy your work.

Shane & Roshi

Dang!!!! Roshi got her man didn’t she? She wasn’t playing. I loved her forwardness but also she was caring. What was hers was hers. Shane my sweet Shane!!! I need him to learn how to peep game. Carrington was a sweet heart too although she was up to no good. Glad she came around because she would’ve ended up like her momma. I’m sorry of her outcome but she seems to be doing ok. I love the vows and wedding. He came up the back and wrapped it up well. Now we need a follow up 😊

Finding their way back!

I loved everything about the storyline and character set up in this book. Second chance and redemption are some of my favorite writing tropes. Shane had a heart of gold and definitely deserved his best after growing up and maturing to the point that he was ready to be with Roshi. As for Carrington, her part in the story didn't turn out how I expected and that was very refreshing. As for the supporting cast of characters, entertainment at it's finest is all I'll say😂

Things don't always happen the way w want them to

Shane was the oldest of Shawn and serita but his twin was his lifeline. She told him when he screwed up and lost his best friend and his girlfriend for the longest that he wouldn't find another love like that,. Shane had mommy issues though he had forgiven setita he still had alot of feeling when it came to her to sort out. Shane and roshi lost alot of years but when the finally its is not all peace aan happiness. Shane has been dating Carrington who wants a better life for herself and to be

Gentle Giant

Although some recurring characters in the series has irritated my soul 🙄🤭, similar to the Berotte family (which I absolutely adore🥰 ‼️) the Taylor clan of crazy & compassion is growing on me especially the second generation of Taylor’s. Meanwhile, “Still: Your Best (The Sweet Series)” was a great read particularly the numerous comedic moments. More so, Shane & Roshi grew on me too. Admittedly, I never really enjoyed Shane’s character as a young adult/adulthood. He was arrogant & spoiled❗️However, Shane the man, husband and father was/is a gentle giant 🥰🤩‼️👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿
