SEAL Team Hawaii #2

Finding Lexie

Rate this book
Listening Length: 9 hours and 40 minutes

Lexie Greene hasn’t thought about Pierce Cagle in years. So when the popular boy she knew in high school shows up in the middle of the Somali desert, part of the SEAL team rescuing her and a coworker from kidnappers, she’s more than a little shocked. But her surprise turns to awe, then awe to respect...and attraction...when he saves her not once, but twice before they make it safely back to a US naval ship. Before she can blink, he’s gone from her life again, but not before an emotional goodbye and a promise to keep in touch.

Pierce “Midas” Cagle hasn’t thought about Lexie in years. Though he’s not surprised in the least to learn that the shy, kind girl he knew is now an international aid worker, serving the poor both at home and abroad. His attraction to the woman she’s become, however - that’s definitely unexpected. He hates leaving her behind after his mission, but Midas is more thrilled than he can say when she chooses the Hawaiian branch of Food for All for her next assignment. Their chemistry is just as strong as it was in Somalia, and neither Lexie nor Midas has ever been so happy. Nor could they possibly suspect someone is outraged that Lexie made it out of the desert alive.

Finding Lexie is the second book in the SEAL Team Hawaii series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliff-hanger endings.

A chance encounter reunites two old friends. They never imagined finding each other again, or the attraction and danger that would result.

I love Ms. Stoker's books and her characters are always so fun to read about. And I did really like Lexie and Midas in this book but I can't say their book ended up being my favorite. The romance felt a little rushed and it made it hard to see their connection. Still a really fun story and the ending has me excited for the next.

Lexie is so stupid. There is concern and then there is stupidity. She's a hostage and trying to defend her captors, wait her turn at hospital and then tell store keeper they just want to pass through her store. Why did author make this woman so silly?
This was a DNF. I got to chapter 8 and knew the ending.

A great book

Lexi has the personality that a lot of us wish we had. She believes in the good of people and gives them the benefit of the doubt. Being kidnapped for ransom and held in the desert doesn't change her mind. Midas doesn't see how she can keep believing in people after being kidnapped. It's a great book and a must for your collection of Susan's books.

Just another typical Stoker book. The guy is a perfect alpha gentleman who knows how to find a cl*t, the girl is amazing and pretty but doesn't know it. Although in this book the heroine kinda annoyed me more than usual. I don't know, maybe I just read it on my bad day.
Also, for the life of me I can't understand why we're getting the bad guys POV in these books. It takes away any sort of suspense or mystery as to who is the villain and just makes me annoyed with the characters that they didn't figure it out. Everything is handed to the reader on a silver platter and just makes me feel like the author didn't trust we could make our own educated guesses. Having those povs would make sense if they were vague and didn't betray who's talking but that's not the case here. The bad guys name is literally the first thing we get from him.
It's also kinda funny to me that in every Stoker book the girls are all loners who don't have any friends but then they meet our MC's partners and suddenly they're besties. And there is never any conflict or clash of characters (well except that one time that still ended with four weddings happening at the same time if I remember correctly) because they're always perfect, right? If only it would work like that in real life.
Oh and I forgot the best thing! The girl was kidnapped for three months,
It wasn't a bad book but at this point they're just all the same to me. I don't even know why I bother anymore, probably because they're quick and easy reads and I needed that right know.

Not very well written about her dyslexia, and boring.

I kept trying with this book, as the first book was really good. This wasn’t. Her dyslexia wasn’t well written about at all, it doesn’t explain how she manages to send texts, or read them, how she manages to read what bus she needs, paperwork for her new job, paperwork for her new apartment and so many other things. Her dyslexia must be bad as she couldn’t go to college and had bad grades at school. So she wouldn’t just be okay!!! 😡 Their ‘romance’ was so slow that it was boring, I know he’s not Scott from the first book, but there’s no ripping her clothes off. He gently kisses her and doesn’t want her to feel pressured into doing anything. While that’s very gentlemanly, it’s not sexy or hot.

Lexie and Midas/ Pierce went to school together. When his team is sent to rescue two aid workers, Midas can’t believe that it’s Lexie. I would have loved way more danger at this point. Lexie has supposedly been beaten by her captors yet she feels sorry for them having no money, and being desperate. It just didn’t add up to be honest.

When she goes to live in Hawaii, someone isn’t happy that she survived. I’m now 53% way through the book and there’s no excitement, and no danger!!! I’m sorry but this really isn’t this authors usual standard.

I do not understand the 5 star reviews. Lexie is just ridiculous. Such a social warrior for the homeless and impoverished individuals that she cannot see how foolish and dangerous her behavior is. The author needs to actually spend a day with homeless individuals before writing this stuff. Character claims to have spent time living in East St Louis. No one willingly lives there. It is a war zone. When will authors stop pretending to understand complex problems like the mentally ill and our homeless. Now I remember why I stopped buying her books. A whole lot of preachy.

Lexie and Midas knew each other in high school, but there was nothing other than a group project. Fast forward years later and Lexie has been kidnapped along with her boss, and Midas' team is sent in to rescue them. There's chemistry this time, and Lexie moves to Hawaii to see where it might lead to. Along comes a bad guy to try and kill her, but Midas is there to save her again.

A chance encounter for old friends involving a desert rescue, fleeing from kidnappers, a rekindled friendship, a deep bond, and a budding relationship. Lexie wished upon the stars for her hero to come rescue her; to her surprise, she got that and so much more!

Lexie Greene is an optimist with a huge heart who likes to see the best in others. Having an unhappy home life as a child and growing up with dyslexia, which caused her great difficulty in school, Lexie always did her best to blend in to the background. She did not have a lot of friends or a huge social life so after she graduated, she threw herself into her work which was volunteering at a local food bank in her hometown and later joining an organization called Food For All, that did what it could to help those in less fortunate situations. That’s how she found herself in her current situation, being kidnapped and held for ransom with a colleague in the Somalian desert. Her abductors are becoming impatient and she can tell it’s just a matter of time before they cut their losses and dispose of them both.

Pierce Cagle, also known as Midas by his SEAL team, is 100% vested in their current rescue mission of two kidnapped employees for an aid organization; especially since he has a past connection to one – Lexie Greene. Midas knew her in high school but has not thought of her in years, though seeing a proof of life picture of her stirs something deep in him. When he’s the one to rescue her, their connection is instantaneous and he hates the thought of leaving her behind. After their emotional good-bye after her rescue, both are thrilled to reconnect when Lexie chooses her next assignment at the Hawaiian location of Food For All. A growing relationship, strong chemistry, good friends, the start of a new life…everything is perfect until a surprising threat to Lexie follows her to Hawaii determined for revenge. She never should have made it out of Somalia alive and someone is determined to end her happiness once and for all.

This was a great story with charming characters and a compelling storyline full of action, suspense, danger, and romance. I loved the interactions between Lexie, Midas, and his SEAL team; the fun times and somber moments, and Baker! Need to know more about this man! Hopefully, more will be revealed in future books. Oh, and the next book – Aleck and Kenna…can’t wait!!

Finding Lexi: SEAL Team Hawaii Book 2 is by Susan Stoker. Once more, Susan writes a wonderful book about the SEALS. Picking up a book by Susan Stoker means you get a first quality written book and one that will keep you interested throughout the book. This one is no exception.
Pierce “Midas” Cagle and his SEAL team are in the desert in Somolia trying to rescue two people who were kidnapped. One was a major figure in Food For All, an international relief organization, Dagmar Brander, and a field worker, Lexi Green. When the asked ransom was met, the kidnappers doubled the ransom demand. Now the two had been hostages for nearly three months. It was imperative that they get them out, especially since it is possible that Dagmar had experienced a stroke. This was a semi-personal mission for Midas as he had known Lexi their senior year of high school. They had worked on an English project together. Now, he had a personal stake in this mission.
Lexi Green was alone in the world. She had lost her last relative and now her home was wherever Food For All took her. She was very good at her job and made friends easily. After being freed, she had recognized Midas as the “star” of high school; but never as a close friend. She was thankful to see a familiar face. They were taken back to the town they were kidnapped from because Dagmar’s brother in Denmark had arranged for Dagmar’s personal doctor to be there waiting for him. The SEALS didn’t like this idea; but since the Denmark team was in charge of Dagmar, they had no recourse. While in the hospital getting ready to leave for safety, the hospital was attacked and their targets for Dagmar and Lexi. Could Midas get her out of there and keep her alive? He was cut off from his team and all communication to them as the radios failed. They are on the run – two white people, one is surgical scrubs and barefooted and the other in filthy attack gear of the SEALS. Where in this town could they safely hide?

The couple: Midas and Lexie

Romance trope: military; romantic suspense
Series: SEAL Team Hawaii
Length: 328 pages

Plot: The SEAL team stationed in Hawaii gets another mission, and this time it's personal to Midas. He recognizes one of the hostages as a girl he went to high school with. When they finally rescue her, he's drawn to her like he's never been to another woman. But she's not out of danger yet, and he'll have to reconcile his need to keep her safe with her need to help others.

Commentary: This is a standard Susan Stoker book, with the rescue of a fairly independent woman and a nearly insta-love relationship - that is, exactly what I wanted. I do appreciate, though, that as she progresses as an author, there are fewer of her heroines that are constantly described as ugly or plain - that was a big problem (to me) in many of her earlier books. I've noticed that lately, while the heroines are described as beautiful - in fact, it seems they're rather average, like most of us - there is always a standout feature that everyone loves. In this case, it's Lexie's hair, which, while wild, is appealing to those around her. I think that sort of focus is more interesting and realistic than the heroine that everyone finds plain and unremarkable.

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐞 was a gorgeous reunited friend to lovers romance between Mitas & Lexie.

This story starts you right off in the middle of the action as Mitas and his team are sent in the rescue Lexie.
These two have history, and right from the moment they reconnect, their chemistry is palpable, delicious, and beautiful to read.

I really liked that Midas and Lexie had an old connection from the past, I think that helped Lexie trust Midas immediately when the SEAL team showed up to rescue her and later when they had to run, she had that history to do what Midas said.

When the two of them ended up in Hawaii together I was happy, happy that Lexie took a chance and started to build roots with Midas and his team. These two were cute together, loved how they did touristy things around the island, how Midas looked out for her and showed her what her life could be.

I hated when trouble showed up at Lexie's work. I didn't think the one person everyone was worried about was behind things, more just watching over someone who was nice to them. It was a good thing too or Lexie might not have made it. I was glad that Midas stopped back into see Lexie despite not having coffee for her.

On a side note, I LOVED the girls night, loved how the women chatted and had so much fun, wished I could have been there.

I also find I'm very intrigued by Baker, really hope he gets a book of his own.

Nothing earth-shattering, but as usual a very solid and dependable performance. Which was quite a blessing after the long string of 1/2 stars and DNFs I've had in the Romance genre lately!

Strong, but not OTT alpha SEAL meets independent and smart FMC. Most of the action/suspense takes place in the beginning as she's being rescued from the kidnappers who took her hostage, and they later try to re-take her. But you know they're going to escape, well, because - there wouldn't be the rest of the book, would there? After all of that and they're both now in HI getting together, you know someone is planning something (the author takes you into the bad guy's head and what he's thinking/planning), but no real action takes place again until the very end.

So - not a whole lot of drama, but likeable characters and solid writing. I'm always looking forward to the next in the series - I know I can count on it for a good read!

this heroine is the least of them all that I liked. her naivety her optimism and her lack of Sixth Sense is something that does not appeal to me. I much prefer my heroines with sass and strength but obviously Ms Stoker decided that these two personalities were a match.
I find that when Ms Stoker writes locally and not in war-torn countries her plot seems to stay within the day to day lives of the characters. the action and angst is a lot slower and more subdued. it's nice to pull the personalities of the team together but in this story it was a slow build and you saw it coming chapters early. then it was over and done with inside a half a chapter......her earlier books are superbly better but I still enjoy Ms Stokers recipe base for all her stories.
I so wish there were badass gents out there...that weren't taken....I'm guessin there's a lot of lucky gals out there too.
narration was spot on ..and I love the lead into not only one story but 2.
looking fwd to kenna and ash.....

Whew!! Back to Somalia - the desert this time, not a ship - and the rescue went pretty smoothly. Lexie & Midas got a chance to get to know each other again while hiding from her kidnappers, but left the desert relatively unscathed, AND having made some new friends.

I love that Midas listens to Scott about not letting Lexie leave w/o knowing he's interested & GETTING HER CONTACT INFO. LOLOLOL That amused me. Anyway, from that, I love that they stay connected. They don't lose touch, they talk every day, they really build a relationship, and that carries over when she moves to Hawai'i.

These characters made my heart happy & Lexie is one of my favorite heroines. ALSO we get teases for two, possibly three, of the next books in the series. Great read!! (Banter, banter, banter!)

I love the romance between international aid worker Lexie and former high school classmate Pierce. Their relationship is solid and beautiful and fairly realistic, even given the crazy circumstances under which they meet. I also like the inclusion of the Somali family who helped them, and Lexie's positive descriptions of most of the people from a country mostly known for lawlessness and violence. What didn't work in this book was the villain. He's a two-dimensional character who is reacting way out of proportion to the situation. If he's been more developed, this would have been a better suspense novel. It's a great romance, though.

Exciting

Midas gets a tremendous shock when he realises that the woman he and his Seal Team have been sent to rescue is someone he used to go to school with. Luckily Lexie remembers him too and they feel a mutual attraction. Lexie is a warm, kind and giving woman and Midas is thrilled when she is given the opportunity to move to Hawaii to work where he is based. Unfortunately Lexie’s past is out to get her and they have some obstacles to overcome before they can settle down.
Another excellent book from Susan Stoker with this delightful Seal Team. Looking forward to the next one.

Finding Lexie is the second book in Susan Stoker’s SEAL Team Hawaii series. The team is called to rescue hostages taken in Somalia. Both hostages work for Food For All, an organisation helping to feed and care for those disadvantaged. Midas knows one of the hostages from high school. Makes the rescue more personal to him. Once again a wonderful story from Susan Stoker. Enjoyed every chapter. Really like the friendship between Elodie and Lexie. A tender love story between Midas and Lexie. Recommend this book.

I’m really enjoying this series!
In this book we follow Midas and his SEAL team as they attempt to rescue two hostages in Somalia. And while missions like this are nothing new to their team, they have never rescued someone from their past. Midas hasn’t seen Lexie since they graduated high school and he never expected to find her the target of their new rescue mission. Maybe it’s the stress of their situation or there’s an attraction that never quite burned out, but these two quickly become inseparable. And it’s a good thing because danger seems to have followed Lexie home.

quattro stelle piene

Finding Lexie❤️

Finding Lexie was an absolutely riveting read and that ending had me in stitches😂😂 Suffice to say Midas knows Lexie from their time in High School. When he discovers she’s been kidnapped from the organisation she works for along with their auditor, the SEAL team are called in for a rescue❣️

A great and suspenseful story which endeared this Hawaiian SEAL team to me even more and I’m super excited for Kenna’s story next😍

Finding Lexi is an awesome read, working for Food for all she is being kidnapped and held hostage for randsom together with a co-worker.
Of course the seals are coming to the rescue. The chemistry is there right from the start just as it was when they knew each other when they were in school. Lexi is heartwarming seeing the good in everyone that might get her in to more trouble. I loved it.
