A Paranormal Women’s Fiction (PWF) that’s a whole new wave of fun!Pepper hasn’t been on a vacation with her husband—without the kids—ever. As in, never ever. On top of that, she still hasn’t told him about her magical water powers yet. Oops. (She meant to get around to it, really.)And now the magic won’t leave her alone, sending one strange emissary after another to interrupt every single supposed-to-be romantic moment. She has her hands full just trying to hide the truth, let alone trying to rekindle the other kind of magic with her husband. With the help of the Ride-or-Die Witches, a mischievous new animal friend, and a well-meaning but decidedly un-magical spouse, Pepper must face the music and become the water witch she was always meant to be. Will this be an enchanted dream vacation... or will it be a complete wash?

Silver Dreams by Kate Moseman is Pepper's story. While on vacation with her husband, Pete, Pepper has to find a way to tell him of her new magical powers. It doesn't help that her magic is acting up even at the resort they are staying at for their vacation. But is it or is there something more going on? Pepper has her own adventure with Pete helping her as they "vacation" together. Fun with Pepper, Luella and Rose as well as the original witches as they work together to take down an evil man who wants to out witches.

Silver Dreams opens shortly after the previous book, with Ride or Die witch Pepper and her in-the-dark husband Pete going on a vacation without kids (for the first time). While at the local resort, Pepper’s water magic starts to act out, and a naked water man shows up in her bathroom. Luckily, Pete is understanding and accepting of Pepper’s new found powers.

Silver Dreams is the third (and final?) story in the Midlife Elementals series. Each book follows a different main character as she comes to terms with her magic and finds love. The stories are best read in order, and I highly recommend reading “Crow’s Feet and Capers” from the Girdles & Ghouls Halloween anthology, which is a prequel, but falls at book 2.5 in the reading order. The events in this novella directly impact and lead into Pepper’s story.

Overall, Pepper’s adventure is fun and the most outrageous of the three witches. She needs to overcome her fear of sharing the magic with her husband, bring peace to some merfolk, and stop a powerful man from exposing the witches. There is a lot going on and at times, the book is a bit disjointed. It felt like the merfolk storyline was a convenient and crazy way to give Pepper the tools she’ll need to fight the ultimate bad guy. And while I love that the witches involve Pete, the whole storyline with him using his dentistry to help a mythical creature was a bit over the top for me.

Pepper is the only married Ride or Die witch, which makes her story a bit different. Her romance focuses on her relationship with her husband, which involves bringing him into her world. I loved how the author portrayed the long-married couple and Pepper’s fears over how change will impact the relationship. That said, I was also frustrated with Pepper at times. She feels left out from previous escapades because she’s got to take care of her family first. I understand the need for her to prove to herself and others that she can handle the danger, but Pepper made some Too Stupid To Live choices during the adventure and I was cringing.

Narration: The story is shared via Pepper’s first person POV, and the narrator of the book is Pepper. Ms. Sands performs using her distinct voice, which I enjoy so much. She’s got a deep feminine voice that is somewhat soft and slightly raspy. Ms. Sands changes her tone for the characters’ dialogue, deepening for males, adding slight accents when called for, creating a unique set of voices for the cast. At times some of the voices sound similar, but they are performed in a way that I could always follow who was talking.

In the end, I enjoyed Silver Dreams and the series on whole. The third book was a little outrageous in some spots, and I struggled somewhat with Pepper’s TSTL attitude at times. However in the end, it all works out, and the journey has been a fun one to follow.

My Ratings:
Story: B-
Narration: B

The third installment in this series was a fun ride!!
We follow Pepper and her husband while they go on vacation and all along Pepper is worried about her abilities and being open and honest with her husband.
There are some moments that I felt like I had to suspend reality but nevertheless they didn’t take away from the book and just made me laugh. I absolutely loved the mermaid spin and I enjoyed learning more about them.
I struggled with the narrator. I’m not sure exactly what it was. I’d recommend listening to the sample.

Great Story & Narration🎧 Magically Delightful!

Silver Dreams
Midlife Elementals, Book 3
By: Kate Moseman
Narrated by: Xe Sands

Kate Moseman continues her “Midlife Elementals” series with another fascinating and wonderfully delightful novel, each book in the series features a different “Ride-or-Die” witch, the first two featured her friends Luella and Rose, who have different magical powers and I recommend starting the series with the first book to get the most out the world building and character development. This book is Pepper’s story, she is a witch with magical water powers, powers she is still learning to master. Happily married with children, she has yet to tell her husband about these newly gained powers. They are heading to a kid free vacation and she’ll find the courage to explain it all to him then. But she never gets the chance when another magical being drops in at the most unexpected of places in their hotel room asking for her help. She could no longer hide what she is and had to let her husband, Pete, in on it, he was accepting and a great sport about it all. A nice relaxing vacation turns out to be an adventure when Pepper gets summoned and travels to another magical world and then winds up amid a domestic quarrel between two sisters. She finds the opportunity to save someone who does not need saving, but then steps upon another problem, one for all witches. She recruits her friends and other characters from the earlier books, including Oliver, Mrs. Millefleur and even her sister helps. Even the familiars are in on the action, including Pepper’s. There is never a dull moment in this well-written, cleverly plotted paranormal fantasy novel. There is plenty of drama, humor, twists and turns, heartfelt and emotional moments and a side of romance. Kate Moseman, thank you for another fabulous story, I am loving this interesting and imaginative world you created and the equally interesting characters in it.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Xe Sands delivers another outstanding performance, bringing these characters and their stories to life. She has a complete understanding of the characters she portrays, giving each a voice that fits the character’s persona perfectly. sounding believable in every role she plays and just as I picture the character to sound. She has been consistent with his character voices throughout the series and the sound quality of the audio is superb. She sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and projects them into her performance. This fabulously talented and versatile voice artist is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

I read the first 2 books but I could not finish this book. I stopped at 37%. this was the most disjointed book - with the story hopping from one chaotic scene to another without any transitions. I just couldn't keep up and after a while just didn't want to read anymore. (Note I gave the first book 4 stars and then the second one got 3 stars with a comment about it being a little scattered in the beginning.)

Amazon synopsis:

The ride or die witches of Sparkle Cove are back, and this time, it’s Pepper’s turn to uncover her strength. I really love that her story is different from the others - she’s a happily, comfortably married woman with kids, and now she has new magic to contend with that she hasn’t quite figured out how to control yet, and she also hasn’t quite figured out how to tell her very non-magical, dentist husband. A much needed and kid-free vacation will give her the opportunity for her to not only reconnect with her husband, but also to share with him this big change in her life, if she can just muster up the nerve.

When they reach their resort destination, it doesn’t take long for things to go off the rails. An unexpected, and quite humorous, room guest not only forces Pepper’s hand in telling her husband what’s going on, but it opens up an entirely new world and situation that she never imagined she would have to deal with. But as always, her friends and their mentors are all there to back her up and do whatever they can to help.

I love the balance these books have between the magic and real life, and the humor mixed with adventure and just a touch of romance. There are unexpected twists, great banter and bonding, and we get just the right amount of time with the characters from the previous books. And with this book, even the non-magical husband gets to shine in his own way, and I love what they do with his character. We even get some great action and teamwork from all the familiars, which I thought was fantastic and fun, and totally kicked a$$. Overall, I really loved how this whole book came together, and how it tied everything together with the rest of the series.

Wow! What a story! I think this one is my favorite in the series! It is full of interesting old and new characters and action filled storyline. Multiple times I thought I was near the end of the book…but nope my ride wasn’t over yet. I can not say how many times I laughed, chuckled or was smiling while listening to this book.

I want to call out my favorite characters but there are quite a few. Pete impressed me the most with his willingness to be open minded and helpful. Fisher is a minor but one that made me laugh and smile. A few seem to get redeemed. I loved the whole under the sea adventure. Very inventive!

I did listen to this on audio. Xe Sand again does the narration for this third book. I can’t say enough good things about her. Her multiple voices and voice inflection is always on par!

Pepper has been watching her friends learn to master their powers and gain their familiars while she has been raising her young children, holding down her accounting job and sometimes helping her husband at this job. She hasn’t had much time for her magic and she hasn’t had time to break it to her husband Pete. She wants very much to tell him but is hesitant because she is afraid of losing him. Pepper’s magic is taking things in hand by acting out making it almost impossible to hide! Pepper and Pete are finally taking a much-needed kid-free holiday which is good timing since Pepper’s magic has attracted attention from the local merfolk. Another great adventure! Moving on to the next story!

Loved this Book

This is my favorite book in the series. It had a great storyline. This book centers on witch Pepper. She is the witch with 2 children living at home and she worked 2 jobs. She felt she was left out of Luella's and Rose's adventures because she had to take care of her children. This book awakens Pepper's full potential, gets revenge for Lenore, and opens a wonderful undersea world for us readers.

I enjoyed the next book in this series. The three witch friends have to solve the mystery of why the merpeople need their help. I like the wittiness in the story. I think Pepper's husband, Pete is awesome as he keeps his cool with the news of her magic ability. Xe Sands does a wonderful job with the narration.

This was a great three book series. I enjoyed each one and the characters were great each so different and I loved the elemental powers the three female witches had and their familiars. A very well written series that kept me enthralled enough that I read all three books one after the other. Most enjoyable as were the other characters featured in this series. I can thoroughly recommend them.

Pepper has water magic and hasn’t told her husband yet. Her powers have been unpredictable lately and they get even wackier when Pepper and her husband getaway together at a seaside resort.
There is a dilemma. There are mermaids, which was so cool.
I like the narrator, Xe Sands.
I enjoyed listening to this series.

This one was really boring me until about the last 1/4 of the book. I do really love the portrayal of her relationship with her husband Pete. Pete and of course Fisher kind of stole the show. I found it to be really sweet and funny at times. As always, I adore her relationship with Luella and Rose. Ride or Die Witches!

Great

Each one of the series has been good.. but different enough so you don't feel like you're reading the same book. I hope that there will be more. Midlife can suck in a lot of ways, it's always nice to remember the silver lining!!!!!!

Great series

I really liked this book as the main character is happily married and you don't often get that in mid life paranormal fiction. The ongoing plot through the 3 books was good and the magical animals super cute. Great series
