A comprehensive dive into the evolution of Australian identity from the WWI “diggers” myth to the liberated modern-day that is heavily LGBTQIA+. For anyone who wants to dig into our identity, whether you are born and bred, a migrant or not Aussie, in whatever capacity read this as it digs into all facets of our identity. It is well-written and confident in its voice with the research Nicoll did directing her conclusive study into our country and all its cultural fragments that make it so special. Though it is heavy and academic in reading if you are able to wade through all that, it is transformative to your understanding of how culture transforms over time which is necessary for everyone to understand for us to become closer.
