Ok, so the story is developing more character and I'm liking that. Starting to get the feeling that the books play out more like episodes would in a series like Supernatural or X-files would. I'm not saying the story is like those series, just more that each has a continuing plot but also has a new 'monster' with each book.

I'm super interested to see how the story progresses with the 'new' character added. I am loving the series so far though.

I enjoyed this book even more than the first one. This is partially due to my 2 favorite characters, Nell & Hux and because it focused more on one family. As heartbreaking as part of this story was (don't want to give a spoiler), I feel it had to happen that way for the story to be what it was. I'm looking forward to the next book to see Nell develop more of a connection with Hux and the Dread Void. Well done Abe Moss! Thank you for making it such a page turner for me.

riveting

As soon as I started reading book one I became so wrapped up in Nell’s life that I never put it down until I came to the end and then I went straight to book 2 and have just finished Amid The Sinking Dark now I can’t wait to start the next in this series.

Hux is drawn to a small town where there is something in the rain. It changes adults and craves children. Hux and Nell must try to stop it.

A good continuation of the series taking it in a fresh direction. The modern lovecraftian take really shines with this setting. The author meters out information, so you learn more about this world and these people, without giving away too much.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series!
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review

This book is just as fast-paced and easy to read as the first, with a high-stakes supernatural monster hunt at it's core.
While I didn't love this book quite as much as the first, Into the Dread Void: A Cosmic Horror Thriller, Abe Moss does more with less in this story. He puts aside the alien all-powerful human-hunting antagonists of the first book, for an unfathomably large sea-beast that . Yes, ! I'll never feel the same way about as I did before reading this, and that's an unsettling thought.
The one thing that stands out to me as holding this book back is the "girl back at the orphanage" story line. It feels hackneyed in what is otherwise an original, unusual, and very grim story. I'm worried this is going to spin into a YA romance story thread (eek). I've already purchased the third book, Beyond the Phantom Glow, so I will just have to dive in and find out...

This was a good continuation of this intense story that involves Hux, Tessie, Nell, and their strange world. This time Hux wants to take Nell with him as he travels through the Dread Void to save someone. Tessie doesn't like this idea, but Nell wants to go. She realizes soon enough that not everyone can be saved and the best you can do, is to try. She's seen terror, failure and has cried herself to sleep.

Nell is exhausted and tries again to sleep when she's pulled into what she thinks is another bad dream about her best friend Lisa. Nell realizes this dream is different and that Lisa is in serious trouble. She goes to Hux and together they try to save another lost soul.

Her friend is in bad shape and Nell realizes she can't leave her again, if she even survives this horrible trauma.

I like the family feel that these unrelated, strange characters form with each other. They learn to trust and work together, despite the sad world they live in.

Marilyn and her little girl Emmie are on the run from their past, when they end up in Brightport, a dark and stormy seaside town. The adults seem to be on their creepiest behaviour, especially when they see Emmie. That night, Emmie is abducted, to be sacrificed to the town's dark god.
Meanwhile Nell tries to fit in at Tessie's place, but is haunted by nightmares. So when Hux asks her for her help, she's thankful for the distraction. Only to find out new and unimaginable horrors await her...
Amid the Sinking Dark is the second book in this chilling and imaginative series by horror author Abe Moss. He combines the futility of human existence with shocking cosmic horrors. An awesomely creepy story!

This is the second book in the dread Void series by Abe Moss called Amid the Sinking Dark and what a book! Nellit’s back and she still staying with Tess and Drudge, But this book starts with Maryland a 23 year old drug addicted mother running away with her daughter and Emmy. She took her away from her parents, because she doesn’t want them to raise her and shove church down her throat the way they did while she was growing up. It’s raining in Maryland is very tired and she has been driving a very long time. A policeman Sherry pulls her over and is willing to let her go only if she promises to stop at the sleepers choice motel. He was very insistent on this and although Marilyn find him weird she could use some sleep and so she makes a promise and go to the hotel and bright port the next town. This is where she meets Dennis the clerk at the hotel who is just as weird if not weirder than Officer Sherry and he keeps staring at little Emmy, But Marilyn blows it off as she is tired and ready to get some sleep and pop a few more pills. I wish I could tell you detail for detail the whole beginning of the story just know the people in this town worship of God and it isn’t the one in her parents pray too and the people of bright port or completely under its spell. Thanks to a ghost boy Ian drudge Little Emmy won’t be the gods sacrifice tonight, well at least not the first time. This book is so good I love it I love this whole Siri‘s. I love that drudge needed nails help because none of the towns people would speak to him and he knew her touch was the only thing that would help him. I love that Tessie was so worried about Nell and cares for her Waymore than she thought. I did feel sorry for Tess when she kept trying to speak to her dad and he kept saying her name and showing up… This whole book is good you should really read this book it’s awesome it is a horrible but OMG I love Amos cyst books. I’m obsessed!

This story continues from the previous one. Nell is safe with Tessie. Hux continues to traverse the void to stop evil. This book revolves around another evil happening and involves Marilyn, a mother on the run and her child Emmie. They end up in Brightport where the evil is lurking and affecting the townspeople. Hux is called to the site but goes back for Nell as he needs her special type of help. I loved how Nell went from a victim in the first book to one of the heroes. With Nell’s new “void” experience, we see some new abilities and her past is drawn back into her new present.

I received a free copy in exchange of an honest review.

Can't get enough!!

Abe Moss has done it again! The second book of The Dread Void series was as great as the first one! In this one we learn a bit more about Nell and her abilities as she and Hux take on yet another monster that has escaped into our world from the Void. Nell learns a hard lesson, and has to learn to deal with it but in the meantime, her dreams are feeling more and more real. Is she really seeing her friend Lisa back in the home? Tessie is also dealing with some issues of her own and they all collide at the end of this chapter. Can't wait to start on the next book! Highly recommend!

Great Series!!

Hux is called on by the Void once again. This time he's found himself on a beach during a very unnatural storm.
The place is called Brightport and the locals are a little off. Another strange thing is that there doesn't seem to be any children around.
Meanwhile, a giant shape is glimpsed in the ocean...and it's very hungry.

This is the 2nd book in the series. Love this mythology that the author has created. Think LovecraftIan cosmic horror mixed with a very inhuman protagonist that reminds me of the Brian Lumley character named Titus Crow. (Another great series)
Great stuff!!

Started and finished date - 17.08.25 to 20.08.25.
My rating - Three Stars.
This book was okay but I was bored while reading is book and I think people who like into the drowning deep by Mira Grant or the ocean at the end of the lane by Neil Gaiman may like is book. The cover of book was simple but stunning. The writing was fine and the writing was easy to follow also the ending of book was okay. The atmosphere was fine and the paranormal parts of book was okay but I think they needed to be flash out bit more. The paced of plot was too rush and the paced was unsteady. the characters was fine but they were bit forgettable.

Disturbingly-fantastic and shockingly-twisted! Demented and horrifying! Intense and riveting! Compulsive and gripping! Will have you on the edge of your seat and gasping with shock! Suspenseful and addictive! Dark and complex! Jaw-dropping horror and psychological thrills at their best! If you like very dark and maniacally-twisted reads as much as I do, you can't go wrong with this book! This book brings it ALL! Truly a MUST for your TBR list!

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

Fabulous series give it a shot!!!

Just finished book 2 and as with book 1, I couldn't put it down. The main characters will tug at your heart strings and the writing made me feel I was there every step. If you like sci-fi and rag tag hero's give this series a shot, you won't be disappointed. To paraphrase, HUX , "it's not about good vs evil its which perspective you are part of." Not every adventure ends happily, but their perseverance and finding themselves is a journey I am excited to continue reading about!!!!

First book was better. This picks up with Nell after surviving 'the green light' and losing her foster family, the Palmers. Julie Palmer and her mom, Kasey, started to teach her to swim in that book and uses it now as the Dark Entity in the ocean tries to trap her and Emmie, but Hux comes thru the Dread Void to help them. Kinda drug out but picked up three quarters the way thru. Hux comes to realize there is something special about Nell and her concern over Lisa.

Supernatural Fun

Mysteries of the Universe. I’m curious to know what will happen now to Nell the cosmic kid, and Hux the “Silver Surfer” of the Dread Void along with his friend Tessie who is a nurse with a talent of manipulating memories. In this episode, they travel to a strange place with a Cthulhu monster, and Nell has nightmares about her BFF.. Is Hux becoming more human? So many questions! Very interesting world!

I loved this book! Hux, Tessie, Nell and now Lisa are in this crazy world. Each one with a gift, Lisa just hasn't realized hers yet. I wanted to step into this world, this life of theirs and I knew I would fit right in.
I'm trying not to place too many spoilers, but I'd you didn't read the first book, you need to. This series is one I will read again and probably not more than once.
Thank you Abe Miss for an awesome, suspenseful, hold my breath book series.

What series of Lovecraftian cosmic horror would be complete without horrors from the deep? Once again, the author does not disappoint. The unfortunate Nell, now with her new supernatural guardian, is drawn into another horrific adventure, this time with an entire town under the sway of psiren monstrosities. Meanwhile, more mysteries are revealed as the new adventure shines light onto an overarching plotline that gets only more ominous.

Pleasantly surprised

While a continuation of book 1, book 2 is a different situation & setting (which I really enjoyed) with bits & pieces that add to the story as a whole. I can't really think of what else to say without giving anything away & I'm super anxious to get started on book 3..... so- book 2= 2 thumbs up!!!

Long time coming

It's been years since I've read something so imaginative, powerful, crazy and yet so human. The good parts of our humanity, strong against the unknown out there in the mysterious void or galaxies and time. Ready to read the next one Abe Moss! Would love a sit down with you to explore what ifs. I daydream that way too.

A good follow on from Into the Dread Void. Keeps you interested from start to finish. Likable characters, excellent story theme, contains dry humor and definitely recommended. Looking forward to the next instalment. I received a complimentary advance copy and my review is voluntary and honest.

an apt, able sequel to The Dread Void

I had never heard of author Abe Moss until I read The Dread Void, but now I am into the saga (currently four books). The character named Hux is particularly interesting. I’m now looking forward to reading books three and four.

Interesting

As part two of this series, you get to know Nell , Hux , and Tessie a little more. Hux has the power to enter into the dread void- when something evil is going on anywhere the void calls him to help. Can’t wait for the next one!

This is what I wanted when I started reading the series. The cosmic horror is stronger here, and the story as a whole had more weight in my opinion. I’m sold on the series and already have ordered the next two!

Loved it!

Amid the sinking dark is well worth the read, but you should go back and read the first book before this one so you will know Nell a little better! Can’t wait to start book 3 in the series!
