It may have been a while since i read Capricorn, but i remembered everything that happened there before i finished the first page of Aquarius. And yes,it may take a while before Pisces arrives, but i can be patient….. Because i’m invested in Novalee’s story, and i need to see where she ends up. If it’s going to be what she’s still secretly hoping for. Or if it’s going to be the villains that will get their way….
Hugo, the master of the House of Aquarius, turned out to be someone i didn’t expect, and my heart bleeds for him. Novalee may have grown stronger during all those months, but she’s glad to be in his House, even if Hugo’s nightly terrors are hard to witness. Because he’s a good guy,one that treats her like a friend. And he shows her the respect she deserves….not like the other men,who still seem to want to decide where, when, how and with who she needs to be. But dr. Price from the House of Pisces is waiting, and Novalee is right to dread the month she’s going to have to spend with him.
I love this series in the most guilty pleasure kind of way. But man I wish she’d release them in bigger books. Getting 100 pages at a time on a massive cliffhanger is frustrating. This book we got one major scene that I know everyone’s been waiting on and then that’s basically it. Nothing else really happens. I love the one scene we got but the rest was pretty disappointing after waiting so long. Obviously I’ll read the next one when it comes out and will love to binge them once they’re all out but until then 🤷🏼♀️
And I can tell you, it doesn't. 9 books, 2.5 years. 3 year gap. 2 books, 1 year. Final book, a year from now.
Average book length, 100 pgs.
I'm all for episodic novels, but 12 installments over 7.5 years? 50% of which are under 100 pages in length?
It is a fabulous story, very well written. Fascinating depth to the characters in so few words. The author is a marvel in that aspect. But it has been a very long journey.
Now starting her eleventh month she is to begin her time with Hugo, the House of Aquarius ♒️ yet before she's to begin out of the shadows appears Sebastian who she thought died. While she's able to spend a forbidden, dangerous and passionate night with him she must keep it a secret to keep them both safe. Hugo is dealing with his own set of demons and isn't interested in anything sexual with Novalee instead he wants her talent to create a gown to showcase at his ball for his nonprofit to auction.
While I enjoyed this long awaited installment I found it to be uneventful and a little ho-hum with the exception of her brief encounter with Sebastian. Once again we are left with a surprising ending that once again can flip everything upside down.
I received an ARC copy from the author an I'm voluntarily leaving my review.
I wish I hated these books, wish I hated long delays between story continuation, but I find myself reading caring about Novalee and her circumstances, her inescapable conditions the result of a lineage about which she has had zero control.
She has since her appearance as a preteen emerged as a vigilant observer, even as she mourned the unexpected deaths of her parents that left her a victim, an orphan, under control of a dominating, politically motivated Uncle concerned with wealth and status, able to best maximize her status as a pawn in his long game of power.
She remains throughout her trials as a survivor, one who has navigated an unimaginable situation, far older than she has ever conceived, linked to a centuries old system long upheld by tradition, fears, guilt, and desires. She ultimately will confront 12 houses and heirs linked through history, DNA, and desires, desires of power, status, wealth, continuation, and want.
Novalee refuses to be a victim of her future, of her love story. And so onward we read….
Aquarius is the 11th installment of the Zodiac Queen series. Novalee is with Hugo in the house of Aquarius.
This book took some very unexpected twists. However, this was probably the mildest read thus far. I think Ms. James gave us the calm before the storm that is the house of Pisces.
I have read every single installment of these books, and honestly, they aren't that good, but they are addictive. Nothing much happens in this one.
Novalee, the virgin bride FMC is a horny little thing. Constantly. While I feel bad for her circumstance, I also kind of want to slap her repeatedly. You either love Sebastian or you don't.
I hate Liam the most.
No idea when the next and last installment of this series comes out ... hope it's not another 3 year wait.
Wow. This book was worth the wait. It has some twists in it and it was unexpected. Hugo had been a gentleman through the month and even encouraged Novalee to make a beautiful gown for the ball and the non profit he is head of and to donate it for auction to raise money. Since it was her birthday she got to choose who to spend it with and Chancellor had told her to choose him because he needed to talk to her and had some news for her. When they left the ball and headed to his house and as he opened the door there were voices and who was in there? Now waiting on Pisces to see who was in that room. Enjoy
This book was definitely what I needed! I absolutely love the series and how each character is so different. Princess Novalee is really coming into herself and fighting for what she wants, including breaking the rules.
This month she is in the house of Aquarius and Meats Hugo. He has a painful past and Novalee is discovering some of his secrets. A ghost from the past returns and brings a welcoming surprise. I can’t wait to read the final installment!
Another amazing installment in The Zodiac Queen series! Hugo was such a gentleman, and I loved seeing the friendship between him and Novalee develop. There were twists, secrets, and emotional moments that kept me hooked from beginning to end. And that ending?! I’m desperate to know what happens next! The wait for the next book is going to be torture. Highly recommend this series to dark romance lovers!
Loved reading the amazing and engaging story. While Novalee spends the month with Hugo, she finds out Sebastian is alive, spends a secretive, passionate night with Sebastian, and must keep it a secret. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and another must read riveting story. Can't wait to read the next story in the series by the phenomenal author, Gemma James!
It’s always a pleasure diving into a Gemma James novel, and Aquarius is no exception. She gets right to the heart of the story, delivering a gripping plot that pulls you in from the first page. The writing is sharp, well‑crafted, and flows effortlessly, making it impossible to put down. Another powerful, well‑written read from an author who never disappoints.
As Novalee enters her penultimate month with Aquarius, she has no idea what shocks and surprises await her. Hugo is sweet, not without his demons, and makes a great ally for his Queen. I loved it and can’t wait for the last book in this fantastic series.
Wow i loved it, so exciting I couldn't get enough. Novalee is with Hugo and we find out things that know one knows, and as the plot thickens BOOM surprise I can't believe it that ending was spectacular.
I love love this series and I'm on pins and needles for the conclusion. I can't wait.
Aquarius was an emotional and engaging romance with compelling characters and plenty of chemistry. Gemma James created a story that kept me invested from beginning to end. While a few moments felt a bit predictable, the emotional depth and character development made it a very enjoyable read.
The series keeps on getting better and better. This book is so suspenseful and tantalizing and seducing that it’s one book you just don’t put down until the end. It makes you yearn for more and so we wait.
The anticipation is fraying my nerves. I absolutely adore Hugo and wish we got more from his character. I'm blown away with the chaos and can't wait for more
