Laurie Abrams has been dealing with her grief after her husband died of a heart attack. He left behind a huge amount of bills leaving Laurie at loose ends. She’s trying to decide what her best course of action would be. With the help of the family lawyer, she decides to sell the family house and her cafe business to buy a spa on Gasparilla Island. The spa would be a dream come true. However, her plans hit a huge snag.

Laurie’s three adult children nix the idea and insist she stay right where she is. Laurie has some tough decisions to make. Although she doesn’t want to disappoint her kids, she also wants to be true to herself and live the life she wants. When the FBI comes knocking at her door, she realizes her husband may have been in deeper trouble than she thought.

This is a short story which I devoured rather quickly. It’s the perfect novella when you just want a quiet afternoon to relax. Although it’s short, it’s filled with drama and emotions. I easily became wrapped up in the Abrams family (although I wanted to knock some sense into her kids).

Laurie seems like she could be anyone’s neighbor or best friend. All the characters jump right off the pages. They are realistic characters in very realistic situations. I cannot wait for the next episode of this series. It would make a great TV show. I can easily see it being part of Hallmark’s line up (hint, hint).

I’m anxiously awaiting for book #2.

Laurie is a widow who has been climbing up a steep mountain of debt her deceased husband accumulated before his heart attack. She runs a cafe’ that has been very successful and with the help of her attorney and friend, Dean, she has a plan to eventually be debt free but working 10 hours a day every day at the cafe is becoming too much for her. Her 3 adult children have moved back in with her after their father’s death and they don’t seem to be leaving. Now Dean has shown Laurie a way to be debt free and fulfill Laurie’s dream of living on the beach and run a spa. The only problem, her kids are against it completely. How does she convince them this is what she needs to move on with her life? And why are the FBI claiming her husband is alive and has money in the bank on the Cayman Islands? I received a free arc copy for my honest and voluntary review.

Serial book

I don’t particularly like books that you have to buy 6 books to know the story. I did get this one before I realized what kind it was. I’m in the process of reading the whole story so I went ahead and started with the first installment. This sets up the story well with a grieving widow with 3 adult
children who came back to roost at their dad’s unexpected death. When she lost him, she realized he hadn’t been honest with her as she was left with a staggering amount of debt and questionable business dealings. Now all she wants is to get out from under the labels and expectations she had lived with her whole life and make herself happy. With a little tough love with her grown children and some reality checks she’s ready to move on.

This starts almost like another book I've read that is husband has died and the wife is left with a lot of debt & now she's wondering how she's going to get out of debt. It looks like she may have a way out but her grown kids don't want it to have a life of her own because it will unset their life style. What shall she do. Then the FBI pays her a visit. She make a decision & her lawyer finds a lockbox her husband left behind over a year ago when he died with a letter from her parents dated January 6, 1998; post marked the day before they died on their trip back from Wyoming and Laurie had never seen it. What does this mean?

I was given this ARC book for free & I'm giving this review to the best of my knowledge. I think this is going to be a good series. Can't wait!

"The Beach Spa" is More Than a Good Beach Book

Be ready to jump right into the Abrams family grief and coping, or lack thereof, in the aftermath of the family's husband and father's sudden heart attack and death. I found myself wondering how many shoes will drop before the mother, Laurie, finds her way out of the financial debt and possible criminal complications his death revealed and left behind for her to resolve. It's uplifting to see that she has a dream to pursue while encouraging her children to do the same with their lives. I received a free ARC copy for an honest review.

The Beach spa takes us into the world of Laurie and her family. Laurie is no stranger to hardship, she has been taking care of her family and trying to get the bills paid since her husband died. As she finally gets a chance to live her own life, her family tries to drag her down. I am excited to see where this series takes me. The suspense has started in the first book and I am looking forward to the next installment...Highly recommend. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Just finished book 1 of the Beach Spa. This book was a great start to the series. Laurie learns so much about her husband and their finances that she had no idea about. She tries helping her children and realizes she needs to take care of herself and follow her dreams. This book ends with a little mystery that comes to light. Another great job, Jessie.
