Book 5 in the Sean Coleman Thriller series.

"John Daly has a magical writing style, and his books keep you up late at night turning pages." - Dana Perino, former White House Press Secretary.

“Restitution offers hard-hitting action spearheaded by a badass protagonist who talks the talk and walks the walk in a brutal story of surviving an unforgiving territory… Written in the vein of old-school stories of revenge, familial bonds, and relentless action, Restitution is a definite must-read.” - Kashif Hussain, Best Thriller Books

Life's gotten better for hard-edged security guard, Sean Coleman. With personal affairs in order and relationships rekindled, he travels to Las Vegas to help celebrate his buddy's last days as a bachelor. Soon after he arrives, however, a twist of fate spawns a reunion with an old flame.

Curiosity and a desire to make amends unexpectedly lead Sean down a dark path into the Vegas underground, where another face from the past emerges---a federal fugitive whose family, years earlier, altered the course of Sean's life.

A harrowing escape drops Sean in the barren wasteland of a Nevada desert, miles away from the glitz and glamor of Sin City. There, he must fight to stay alive against a well-armed group of men whose bloodlust and greed won't stop them from getting what they're after.

A lifelong Coloradoan, John graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1996 with a degree in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems. He spent the next 16 years developing accounting software and Internet-based, workflow collaboration solutions.

With a thirst for creative expression that went beyond the logic and absolutes of computer programming, John developed an interest in writing. His early work included newspaper editorials, and film and television reviews for entertainment websites. He later became drawn toward more substantive commentary on world events. He currently writes political, cultural, and media-analysis columns for the website of Bernard Goldberg, former CBS News journalist and New York Times bestselling author. He's also written for National Review, Paste Magazine, and the Greeley Tribune.

John felt compelled to take his writing to the next level after watching a television interview with former NFL football player, Tim Green. Inspired by Green's career transition from a professional athlete to an accomplished author, John found the motivation to begin work on his first novel, "From a Dead Sleep".

From a Dead Sleep is book one in the Sean Coleman Thriller series. It was followed by Blood Trade (book two), Broken Slate (book three), Safeguard (book four), and Restitution (book five).

The series unfolds in the dense mountain ranges of Colorado where John has spent much time, camping, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors.

John lives in Greeley, Colorado with his wife and two children.

This is the first time Sean Coleman and I have crossed paths but it won't be the last. Restitution, by John A. Daly is one of the more intense, tension filled thrillers I've read in some time. Being the fifth Coleman thriller, a lot has transpired to make Restitution what it is but Daly sums it up quite nicely in beginning. Because of his summation, Restitution can be read as a standalone but probably better to read the previous books first. I do wish Daly had addressed more of Coleman's backstory, mainly focusing on how he knows what to do in these situations.

Daly's characters all feel well developed and familiar. I think everyone has a friend or acquaintance like Dusty and if you don't, then you're probably the Dusty of the group.

While I have a few questions, Restitution was a thrilling read with likable good guys, truly awful bad guys and enough action and tension to keep you up at night. I'm looking forward to learning more about Sean Coleman, both past and in the future.

My thanks to John A. Daly, BQB Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Restitution.

This, the fifth book in the series makes me want to go back and learn more about what makes Sean. Coleman “tick”. A very intriguing character finds himself in Vegas for a buddy’s bachelor celebration when he re-connects with an old flame. Then things head south as he has to survive a confrontation with some really bad guys. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review.

Sean Coleman is back in action in this fifth installment of the series, Restitution. The story opens up with a young boy exploring his local Mexico streets in 1972 until he sees a man walk up to his family’s apartment building and gunfire ensues. That leads readers to the future – as we fast forward to the early 2000’s, we catch back up with Sean Coleman. He is gearing up for his next big adventure. Are you wondering how these stories intertwine? You’ll have to read Restitution by renowned author John A. Daly to find out!

Daly’s great attention to detail sets this book apart from any other thriller on the market. We see this from page one of the story as the author tells us everything we need to know to set the scene. He talks about the mariachi music playing from an upper apartment window as the character plays with a deflated basketball. We feel a sense of mundanity but with the slightest hint of suspense. You instantly know that you are in the slums of 70’s Mexico. You know that something big is about to happen, but you’re just not sure what. I also enjoyed how the story goes into detail about what each character has on and their mannerisms. The mom’s lacey white lingerie, the cop’s cowboy boots, and toothpick are what stick out the most.

If I could use one word to explain Daly’s writing style, it would be gritty. He had me on the edge of my seat throughout the book wondering what happens next. But there were times I had to look away because it was as if I was watching Scarface for the first time. Some may argue that it could be too much at certain points. It simply depends on your tastes, and for me, I enjoyed every word.

The story is raw and dirty, with well-fitting rough edges that place readers in a well-worn world that is deeply compelling.

Restitution by John A. Daly is a must-read for any thriller lover out there. Despite its hefty page length readers will fly through it in no time. This book makes for the perfect summer beach read because of how it grips you from the start. Better yet, read it on your way to Vegas, it will cast the desert in a different color.

I haven't read the previous Sean Coleman thrillers, but I was still able to understand the relationships between the recurring characters and some of their backstories, as Daly explicitly addresses these throughout the novel. I think this is a solid book for its genre, but perhaps I need to read more action thrillers to truly appreciate it. I like more mystery, dialogue-heavy, character-driven books, so I found myself growing tired of the action descriptions. I wish Sean had more to do than be in the same place facing the same people for ~75% of the novel. I preferred reading the Lumbergh chapters because I like police procedurals/investigative sequences more than action.

I started reading “Restitution” on my flight from Phoenix to O’Hare. I read without stopping for three hours (no airline meal to distract me) and I wouldn’t have minded if the plane circled the airport a few times, but for once the flight was on time so I wasn’t able to finish until the next day.

This was my first Sean Coleman Thriller from award-winning author John Daly. It won’t be my last. Riveting, with a great cast of flawed good guys and nasty, but believable bad guys, this was nonstop action from beginning to end. Highly recommended.

My first read of this series/author and I would recommend starting at the Sean Coleman book 1). This fifth nstallment kind of drops you into Sean's life with little to no background so it's easy to get lost almost right away. It references previous stories in the series but never fully explains so it was confusing.

I didn't like it enough to start at #1 and maybe if I had it would have been a better read

This is book 5. The other books are just as good. But you need to read book 1 and book 3 before reading this book. This book gives away the plots to those books. Over all I suggest reading them in order.
This book takes place in such a short time frame but there’s so much action and suspense. As always Sean Coleman is a complicated man. You are in his head, feeling his pain, frustration, and love.
I could not put this down.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It's a rattling good thriller, a page-turner of the first water.
