Abigail Knight left the orphanage she was raised in only to become ensnared in a terrifying world of wicked men. Struggling to make it through each day, she finds an opportunity to escape but she’ll have to trust a stranger. After years of abuse, can she put herself into the hands of a man she doesn’t know? The prospect of peace and a lifetime of contentment awaits her, but crippling fear stands in the way.
Hank Pearson is strong, chivalrous, and haunted. Still staring down the demons of his grief and guilt-stricken past, he’s forced into the role of protector once again. When the pressure mounts and the stakes become immeasurable, will he set his sights on the future or let the past repeat itself?
The danger will continue into the next books! Abigail’s story is heartbreaking right from the first you want something good that she can hold onto after the last year of her life. Hank has come to Boston to take Abigail back to Hope she is in danger in Boston. The character is so broken and the way the author has written her is brilliant. Hank is just the right person for Abigail. Lots of action the ending had it spades and it was rather sad too. I am looking forward to the next two books one is about Maggie and the other is Opal. Super good book and so far the series has been splendid. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
The larger plot is in full swing in this book and the action takes place in Boston as well as Montana. Abigail is the victim of kidnapping and abuse and through her eyes we can feel the fear and brokenness inside her. She’s still a target so Hank travels to Boston to get her and is shocked by her condition. We learn more about Hank and Abigail when they are stuck in a private train compartment together for 4 days as he tries to protect her and help her heal. Hank and Abigail are perfect for each other and it so satisfying to watch her confidence grow. There was all kinds of action in the last part of the book. I am binge reading the series at this point.

After finishing this book, the third in this series, I finally figured it out; Granger writes with a "Hallmark movie" feel. While this is my least favorite in the series thus far, I still enjoyed the book. The plot was so intriguing, especially in the beginning. Granger continues to write in a way that makes me want more. I love the characters and look forward to book 4.
The third book in the Maxwell Brides Series another well written story with a very good storyline, I was not putting this book down until I was finished. This series just gets better with each new story. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The saga of the Maxwell Group followed the story of Abigail's rescue and recovery. She struggles to rebuild her life and emotional balance with the aid of Hank and the whole family. This cast of characters is compelling and each story is riveting.
It always shocks me that readers don’t want to read the truth.. a fairytale west..I find this book so good really showing how people are , language , environment and intimacy. I am eager to read the other stories , I love the way this story..down the chamber pot
Not one of my favorite books of the series. Hank was wonderful. I just don’t think we got to know Abi well enough for my liking. It’s still a great, entertaining story, just would have liked a little more.
I never expected a book where every motion a person made could result in a major bodily reaction. Abigail suffered so many horrors in her short life and needed the Maxwell's as well as her inner strength to save her.Enjoy!
Abigail has been a prisoner for a long time. When she is rescued she cannot communicate with anyone. She refuses to leave her room. She hears a new man in the house. Hank has come to take her to the ranch. Every time he talks to her she faints. It’s going to be a rough trip. Four days on a train. In a private car. Her captors want her back. It is a good story.
All the abuse he and others put upon Abigail just because she was an orphan and no one would be looking for her. I still don't understand why Mr Benson wants Jeni.
Abigail had tasted freedom after leaving the orphanage, but it wasn't for long when she's taken and held captive to horrible abuse. When Hank comes along it's her chance at freedom but can she trust a stranger? Hank is haunted by his past, but can he fight for a future with Abigail? Well written historical western romance, filled with suspense, swoonworth action and more!

hank never truly gave up seeing her as a frightened little girl and they never talk about their issues with one another. all of this i could kind of brush off but the weird elements of voyeurity and them having practically an orgy with all of the couples and hank is able to identify the other womens climaxes by the sounds and i could not handle it. it was so weird.
This was another great story. Abbigail was rescued by Will. Caine had traveled to Boston to take her away from the city and for her to recover from her captivity. There is so much detail in this story of the struggles Abbigail had, you will just need to read this story and make your own evaluations. It was a good but really stressful at times.
